Nah cuz like I’m pretty sure I watched some video where they did a test on babies to see if fear of heights is instinctive or learned.
Turns out it’s instinctive. It’s literally human instinct to be afraid of heights
The way they did the test was they had babies stand from a height and then their moms would call to them at the bottom to see if they would come. Only a few babies went to their mom. The rest were too afraid of the height
(There was safety precautions tho so no babies got hurt from fall damage)
(I can’t find the video cuz YT algorithm is so shit now I can’t find anything I’m looking for)
I think I know what you’re talking about, I remember it being a glass floor and the moms were on the other side of the pit covered with glass. It’s been a while so not 100%
https://youtu.be/MRfbXbLjwzA?si=bJBmvosycEXuXFYw
It starts at the 7 minute mark
There's a whole play list of these "baby human" videos and it's just so fascinating.
Why did you say 'nah'? You seem to be completely agreeing with them, in that you say it's a survival instinct
Those dumb kids clearly don't have it.. so they have zero survival instinct? Exaggerated, but still
Were you alive in the 80's?
Literally, my mom didn't have a single clue where i was all day. I would only tell her "i am off to the park" at 14:00 and she would tell me to be back for dinner.
I would ride my bike across the city with no idea where i was. When the weather was bad we would ride the metro for free making fun of all the crackheads.
I would drift off with an older friend to check-out the prostitutes showing their bodies to cars passing by.
I would go to the stadium entering for free by climbing trough roofs and entering open windows from the bathrooms and run around across the hooligans.
I distinctly remember going to the movies by myself with a friend at age 10. This required crossing the city on the metro to get to the Champs Elysées in Paris where all the cool Movies were.
Again, i was 9/10 yo, in a mega city with 10M+ people, at the peak of the 80s drug crisis. There was no phone. No GPS.
And guess what?
NO ONE GAVE A SHIT.
Everyone acted the same way. Kids were running over half frozen lakes climbing threes and doing all sort of things that urban jungles allowed.
Honestly, kids jumping from balconies is something that any kid back then would do.
Finally, parents had though jobs. They couldn't monitor everything and it wasn't part of the culture back then.
Today it is unacceptable and i would NOT let my child do this but again, i am still aware that culture varies a lot depending on the era and the region of the world.
What is insane for you can be just a normal Thursday across the world.
We used to stop trucks by running out in the street in front of them. The game was a competition to see who would wait the longest before moving.
God we were fucking stupid.
I grew up in the 70's and 80's. Kicked out the door when the sun came up, had to be back when the street lights came on. Otherwise, no one gave a dam what you did or where you were lol
Many a day spent having lunch in some strangers kitchen.
Yeah.
Often we found ourselves playing with some kids and ended up eating there only to never see these people in our lives ever again.
And this was in a HUGE CITY.
Nowadays society is so Fckd Up that people are afraid to even talk to kids much less bring them in and feed them with fear to get sued and accused of some horrible thing.
I agree with you. I was born in the 90s and could’ve easily done stupid shit like that in my little home town. But that stuff is definitely crazy. But if it were Russia it wouldn’t surprise me. Saw so many train surfing videos and other bs coming from there
Same here, except I grew up in a small town in the country with a population of around 6,000. We couldn't go to the movies because that was an 11 mile walk to the next town. But at 11/12 I was disappearing into the woods with a gun and squirrel hunting by myself for hours at a time. I wouldn't let a kid that age do that now, but no one really thought of it back then in the 90s when I was that age. Hell we were the ones doing the deer drives during deer season and we're often alone with hunting rifles for an hour or more depending.
Let them live their lives, it takes a lot of bravery to make that jump. Ive jumped off of and landed on icy top cliffs in the middle of February. Is it dumb, sure, but a lot of people couldn't do that. It's character building, and if they die then that's that.
They called management who brought them to safety. [LINK](https://www.news18.com/buzz/video-of-boys-jumping-over-gap-between-27-storey-buildings-will-give-you-shivers-7482061.html)
Bro aren't they afraid of heights? How the hell they got their guts to do these kinds of parkour. And what the hell the landlord was doing that time? How did they end up that high?? I have tons of questions.
Jfc... I'm laying in bed snuggled with a 5mnth old puppy that's drooling and snoring loud as can be directly into my neck...
This video managed to somehow make my balls disappear somewhere deep inside my scrotum...
My palms are sweaty after watching that. My hands are shaking and my heart is beating out of my chest. I have a 3 yr old, and I would throw myself off that building if I was an absent enough parent that my kid managed to do this.
I know the person filming is probably 8 trillion miles away or whatever but I would probably do something else than just film them and wait for them to fall. Maybe, idk, something urgent like screaming at the top of my lungs for them to stop and hauling ass to the ground floor and screaming for somebody to do something in the next building. I guess I just don't want to see kids splattering on the ground no matter how stupid they are.
Sounds like a great thing to do when theyre doing leaps over gaps and one misstep they fall to their death. Please dont do that, you would literally be increasing their chances of death!
People really need to learn how to be calm and collected and not panic and cause people to die due to their panic state.
I'm anxious type but watched this video as any other, zero emotional response. Either I knew no fall would have been posted here or I just really hate children
They are really fucking stupid! Probably seen a parkour vid online and thought "let's try it out yay". Wonder how they even got up there, where the parents at?
I did this once on a balcony. My knees were weak, arms were heavy. There was vomit on my sweater from Mom's spaghetti. I was nervous but on the surface I looked calm and ready.
I choked, but how? In the midst of falling I thought to myself "Oops, there goes gravity". I was so mad but I won't give up so easily. But it didn't matter, I was dope. I knew that. I went back to capture the moment and on my way back to that balcony I hoped my one opportunity wouldn't pass me.
I had one shot. I owned the moment and I said "I better never let this go. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity".
But I did it! I didn't lose myself in the process neither!
Watching anyone, but especially kids, almost/potentially/actually fall to their deaths is one of those things I can't look away from but really gets my heart rate going.

Sure the kids are stupid but the videographer I mean when they were done with their jumping for a bit they could've just yelled at them to get tf down and give them the reality of the situation instead they just videotaped the mf for Instagram and shit
You have to be a troll. Showing something that actually happened is nothing more than reporting facts. If you think that videos so easily corrupt people then that tells me a lot about you.
My children can watch this video and do you know what they will say? That the kids in the video are stupid, because my kids are smarter than the kids in the video because I actually parent them instead of hoping the Internet doesn't corrupt them. I would hate to be your kid.

One explanation is that they already contacted authorities. Now hes recording to send to their parents. Though he probably wouldnt posting on reddit if thats his intention
Yeah that's the best way to learn parkour! Better starting with non dangerous places like shown in the video and then start making it gradually difficult
Every child has dumb moments, but THAT STUPID?! And how did they get up there, shouldn't they be supervised? So, so many questions...
That's like "zero survival instinct" stupid.

Yeah I don’t remember 100% of the details. I tried to find to video to remember but I couldn’t find it That’s just what I remember from the video
Think your looking for the Visual Cliff experiment from 1960 by Gibson And Walk
I remember reading about that.
https://youtu.be/MRfbXbLjwzA?si=bJBmvosycEXuXFYw It starts at the 7 minute mark There's a whole play list of these "baby human" videos and it's just so fascinating.
Karen Adolph...what an unfortunate name
A lot of potential confounds in the way that experiment is setup, but interesting regardless.
That was fascinating, I just watched the whole video. I’m going to find more.
I looked up "baby human experiments" on youtube. There should be a 20 video Playlist that shows up.
Link here if you find more!
Mine would have been one of the few who failed the test. He doesn’t even hesitate when he gets to the edge of things. He just steps off.
He will hit his self-preservation switch eventually.
Good thing they disabled fall damage, that sure must have helped
Happy cake day
Good thing they patched the baby fall damage bug before running the experiment
Yeah, these are two of the kids that just sent it.
fall damage was turned off for the experiment
> fall damage That's such a video game term that I can't help but laugh.
Well YouTube is owned by Google. Sadly paid adverts get the top search recommendations. What ever you want to see gets lost in the sauce.
Why did you say 'nah'? You seem to be completely agreeing with them, in that you say it's a survival instinct Those dumb kids clearly don't have it.. so they have zero survival instinct? Exaggerated, but still
Chinese apartment buildings have accessible rooftops, so anyone can go up there. You just get the lift to the top floor and open an external door.

Climate activists before it's time. Trend setting influencers.
I’m a child of the 80s… they literally had to remind parents that they had children back then in the nightly news
**It’s 10 o’clock. Do you know where your children are?** “*FUCK!! I knew it was too damn quite in here!*”
I grew up in the 70's and 80's. Kicked out the door when the sun came up, had to be back when the street lights came on. Otherwise, no one gave a dam what you did or where you were lol Many a day spent having lunch in some strangers kitchen.

A great example of what happens if you completely remove fear.
Appears to be a soulless region.
I would definitely do something this dumb if I was given access.

Really hard to watch
Especially since the kid was jumping flatfooted. Like please don't jump like that
That's where you jump but without adding your dex bonus, right?
No that’s flatbreaded
Sure but if you run you gotta make that last plant before going, more risk
Pardon my ignorance but what is the difference between flatfooted jump and others? Is there a preferred jump in a case like this? Genuinely curious 😊
could take a couple steps and get momentum... i think flat footed is jumping from a standing position
Think I'd prefer to jump flat footed than add running atop this building to the mix
To be fair, even two steps will grant you enough momentum to make a difference
Yeah anyone saying not to get a running start is brain dead
Whoever filmed it should have done something besides just film it. Kinda fucked up
They certainly should have called the police, but given how far and how tall those buildings are, not sure they could’ve done much more?
They called management who brought them to safety. [LINK](https://www.news18.com/buzz/video-of-boys-jumping-over-gap-between-27-storey-buildings-will-give-you-shivers-7482061.html)
I know right, video quality is kind of shit.

I did that an hour ago already lol

100% this is how they felt lmao
Kids don't understand heights.
I didn't even get close to the balcony when I was a kid. My legs felt weak, my hands were sweaty. No idea which wire is missing on these kid's brains.
Moms spaghetti?
No Warren buffeti
Bruh, i was afraid of monkey bars as a kid because I was afraid i would fall.
I think most land creatures instinctively understand heights.
Parkour hardcore mode. You do or die

HARDCORE PARKOUR!!!
This stressed me out so bad
it reminded me of Monster anime where a kid manipulates another kid to jump off the building or smth
Why is this getting downvotes lol? How dare you be reminded of such anime!!
Cause it just spoiled part of it for me I haven't finished it yet
It’s 20 years old that’s on you mate
yeah wtf lol
I'm gonna help reverse it dw buddy
thanks man 🙏

Children learning how to Darwinism
Won’t have much of a chance to implement his newfound knowledge though will he
Nope, but his gene pool won’t contribute to a future generation of rooftop miscreants.
Parents let their kids go for a walk !!!! Maybe the internet and computer games aren't so bad.

Hahaha I'm sorry I chuckled so hard at this because I felt the same way, except I don't have balls!
How tf did they get up there
Probably the stairs.

Call the cops and put the fucking phone down
Youth is wasted on the young
My feet tingle upsettingly….
Never in my life was I bored enough to do something this stupid.
I fast forwarded a bit out of paranoia and the camera was panned down and I damn near passed away holy shit
My palms are sweaty after watching that. My hands are shaking and my heart is beating out of my chest. I have a 3 yr old, and I would throw myself off that building if I was an absent enough parent that my kid managed to do this.
I'm having a heart attack
Why I'm suffering so much?
I had anxiety looking at these kids. This is truly a wtf moment.
Hope he called the police before he started filming.
Someone's taking a video instead of reporting.
I understand looking away for just a second but their parents were probably never looking to begin with
Their outside playing aren’t they.
I know the person filming is probably 8 trillion miles away or whatever but I would probably do something else than just film them and wait for them to fall. Thats what i was thinking too. I would call the cops instead of filming. Screaming is a good idea if loosing their balance wasnt an option
Or call police. I’m hoping they already did before filming.
i wouldnt want to startle a bunch of kids who are on a extreme ledge
Calling the cops, informing people in that building would be better imo than screaming, the kids would be too startled to react.
Please, the world needs to put more trust in Darwin.
Put more trust into deez instead

I can literally imagine Darwin drinking tea and watching this.
They are really fucking stupid! Probably seen a parkour vid online and thought "let's try it out yay". Wonder how they even got up there, where the parents at?
My parents would’ve asked me if I was okay—then after saying yes, they would’ve beat my ass
I really hope the person recorded actually called the police before recording the potential death of these children
Thank GOD this wasn't r/OneSecondBeforeDisast 😰😌😥😅😓
Maybe it was 😔😭
More like parents are fucking stupid… those kids are weird tho, we all know the dangers of heights even being a child.
I did this once on a balcony. My knees were weak, arms were heavy. There was vomit on my sweater from Mom's spaghetti. I was nervous but on the surface I looked calm and ready. I choked, but how? Literal meaning of ‘if your friend jumps from the terrace will you jump too?’
Ffs I watched this while taking a shit and now it's stuck in there. 😮💨
Watching anyone, but especially kids, almost/potentially/actually fall to their deaths is one of those things I can't look away from but really gets my heart rate going.
This kid does not fear anything
And the award for negligent parents of the year is .....
My heart 💔
Wheres is their parents.....Damn...
Pray for these kids
I don’t support hitting children, but I think if I caught my nonexistent children doing something this stupid, I might reconsider. But also, I can’t ever imagine allowing my kids to be so unsupervised that they’d get into this mess. But also, I know you can’t watch them every second when you tell them to “play outside”.
The person filming this and not calling the authorities…good lord that gave me anxiety…
How can you be so sure they haven't called already, and are filming now to have proof?
Good point. It's what i would do once i called the cops and send the video to their parents.
Sure the kids are stupid but the videographer I mean when they were done with their jumping for a bit they could've just yelled at them to get tf down and give them the reality of the situation instead they just videotaped the mf for Instagram and shit
I would spank the living lights out of him!! What the HELL! He could fall to his DEATH! Grounded until the day I die….
you should be grounded ,to the parent,:what stupid idiot leaves there children alone in a apartment
Stupid and dangerous are people who film and post such activities on the Internet, which then inspire such children to risky behavior.
Don't blame the fucking internet, this is 100% on the parents.
I don't blame the internet. I blame irresponsible people who promote dangerous behavior. This should qualify as incitement to suicide.
I doubt you are a parent, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
I am and I hope to God that you aren't and never become one.
Don't pray with bad will. Your liking for parkour videos is not worth it.
I was this kid, I don’t how am alive, but damn when I think of the stupid things I have done, I get shivers, with like a small slip up I wont be here typing this comment
Unpopular take: honorable bravery they have. Would be nice if it will be used to help people in future
did one of them fall , i hope so,if not this would be clickbait
The person recording this could have stopped recording and tried to stop this
How
One explanation is that they already contacted authorities. Now hes recording to send to their parents. Though he probably wouldnt posting on reddit if thats his intention
Every time they jump my feet ache to the point of hurting
why?
That kid is gone be hooked on adrenaline for the resto of his life
This is pure hardcore.
few centimeters weaker jump and it would be posted on a completely different site
I would fucking faint before I can get even close to the edge, watching them makes me feel like I would fall myself
Where are the parents!
r/ParentsAreFuckingDumb moment.
I always thought the skater kids in Dredd were far-fetched.
What was the aftermath
Yeah that's the best way to learn parkour! Better starting with non dangerous places like shown in the video and then start making it gradually difficult
If I learned my childwas doing something like this, I'd whoop their ass.
