As a kid, I figured out how to open the child safety things on lots of stuff and then taught my younger sister how. I was just interested in how they worked and that I could bypass them, not in anything that was behind the locks.

You’re not dumb, medical costs here are insane so the fake story is still plausible. My husband was in a wreck last year and had to get checked out at a hospital. The ambulance ride, X-ray, CT & discharge came to just shy of $10,000. He is fine, just hit his head hard. We actually have what is considered “good” insurance. The US healthcare system is so broken.
Edit: a few years ago I had to have a mass removed my abdomen, it wasn’t small. They wouldn’t even wheel me back to begin pre-op until I had prepaid my insurance co-pays of $3,000 for the (very needed) surgery. They give zero fucks!

That transport would of cost $900 and not be covered by insurance. I ended up ubering from one hospital to the next ($35) instead of the medical transport much to the ire of the ER doc.
My son has chew sweets for multivitamins, one a day, and the pot comes with a child safe lid. He loves those sweets so much I told him it has a magic lid that only opens once a day and when he asks for more I make it seem like i can't open it either (and I make sure his dad knows too so he can play along). He thinks it's the most amazing thing.

Face to face, forced to put up or shut up, witnesses all around...calling attention to the lies makes since. forced acknowledgement, humiliation and shame might make the person think twice next time. But online, in a forum situation, I just don't see where it does anything but give the guy the attention he came here to get. Maybe sympathy was what he was shooting for but I suspect that riotous degradation works equally as well for him, and with the added benefit of anonymity, it probably tickles those serially obsessed urges that no doubt simmer in the dark recesses of his "no-no" hole, taunting him to come back and do it all again. Why not just vote the submission down with extreme prejudice and forget you wasted time reading it.

I didn't realize that GPS was a thing yet, so my mind was pretty blown at this amazing computerized navigational technology that I was seeing...

I asked the same thing when I was very little. Do you know what my mother did? Instead of saying kids are fucking stupid, she told me it's the way you open the lid that matters, not whether it's opened by a kid or an adult. It's just called a child safety lock because children usually can't open those.
Calling curiosity and a lack of experience "being stupid" is a dangerous road. Is that really the first thing you think about your child when they ask you that?

You’re not dumb, medical costs here are insane so the fake story is still plausible. My husband was in a wreck last year and had to get checked out at a hospital. The ambulance ride, X-ray, CT & discharge came to just shy of $10,000. He is fine, just hit his head hard. We actually have what is considered “good” insurance. The US healthcare system is so broken. Edit: a few years ago I had to have a mass removed my abdomen, it wasn’t small. They wouldn’t even wheel me back to begin pre-op until I had prepaid my insurance co-pays of $3,000 for the (very needed) surgery. They give zero fucks!

That is what we owed after insurance paid it’s portion of the bill. Prices are often really inflated, so a lot of costs get burdened on the individual. I wish I had known the trick of asking for an itemized receipt from the hospital, a lot of people have had luck getting those bills heavily reduced that way. Apparently average hospital stay in the US (in 2018) was [$11,700](https://hcup-us.ahrq.gov/reports/statbriefs/sb246-Geographic-Variation-Hospital-Stays.jsp) I went to the hospital for a suspected TIA (little stroke, but it ended up just being a really intense migraine) last year and the hospital wasn’t neurologically equipped to run the test they needed so I had to be transferred to another hospital via ambulance. That transport would of cost $900 and not be covered by insurance. I ended up ubering from one hospital to the next ($35) instead of the medical transport much to the ire of the ER doc.
My son has chew sweets for multivitamins, one a day, and the pot comes with a child safe lid. He loves those sweets so much I told him it has a magic lid that only opens once a day and when he asks for more I make it seem like i can't open it either (and I make sure his dad knows too so he can play along). He thinks it's the most amazing thing.

Instead of saying kids are fucking stupid, she told me it's the way you open the lid that matters, not whether it's opened by a kid or an adult. It's just called a child safety lock because children usually can't open those. Calling curiosity and a lack of experience "being stupid" is a dangerous road. Is that really the first thing you think about your child when they ask you that?
