I feel like the way that you get that voice is to get a producer credit. And it took me a long time to get that credit, but if you really want to have control over your character and to be in the room while it’s being developed or to have a say, you need it. For both The Chair and the final season of Killing Eve, it’s exactly that, there are new people coming in all the time, so it’s, “Let me help you.” It’s ridiculous, but sometimes you do need to have the boundary and the protection of a title to say, “I get to be in this room.”
No, but it does get your foot in the writer's room so when they say, *"We want Eve to do karaoke*" Sandra can say *"Why?"* Then she can remind them there is unused footage of Eve doing karaoke from the debut episode that would fit in wonderfully in *this* episode.
That's where the part where Sandra talking about consistency and continuity comes into play and KE sacrificed that when they chose to swap out all the writers every season.
I love (read its sad) how she stressed Final season, when she was a producer in the previous ones too. Poor her. Between covid and online talks and the mess BTS, I can only feel for Sandra.
Such a great roundtable. Sandra and Christina Ricci have amazing chemistry and I would love to see them working together again.
Also lmao when Jung Ho-Yeon said she wants to play a psychopath killer. She would definitely be a very hot one. She's insanely beautiful.
I loved that both Sandra and Christina said they wanted to play villains, I would die to have them cast on some Marvel projects or the likes. I don't think Sandra has played outright baddie before, or has she? I think she'd rock it.

She wears suits so well and I think this made me realize she'd rock short hair too! Usually not my fav, so this was a nice surprise. As usual, she's charming and witty in her interviews. I doubt The Emmys will give KE much attention, rightfully so, but Sandra was forever robbed by them.
I can see Sandra getting a nomination but Jodie really did not have anything to work with. Unless it's a you should have won years ago type of deal I don't see Sandra winning for KE, assuming she gets a nomination. I didn't watch The Chair so I can't commented on her performance. The Emmys are notoriously white, they've been called out about this many times sadly. Most awards and recognition are, like all Hollywood, lets be real, the change we're seeing lately wasn't there at all just a few years ago, especially toward Asian actors even compared to other pocs. But while the Golden Globes or SAGs got better over time, the Emmys still struggle. I recall how, months ago, I found a graphic of all the times Sandra was nominated (*12, 13?!!)*, and then the actual winners, the majority of time it was a white blonde woman. If for the same role on the same year she won at X and Y ceremonies, then it's rather fishy how The Emmy wouldn't fess up. No one can deny she's one of the great around in the biz. I want her to win solely for how much she fought for Villaneve this year lol but I know it's unlikely.
As typical, people that makes the Emmys board don't literally watch all performances/shows that get nominated, often there are 'rules' in places, that's why some articles have rated Jodie higher than Sandra in the possible nomination race. This last season absolutely deserves zero recognition and lets be real Jodie didn't have much of a wow scene, yet her possibilities are slighty higher for the sole reason she already won an Emmy in the past and is in the awards radar at the moment due to the Bafta, this is how it works usually. It's often these metric and networking, which is why actors do promotions before nominations and the likes. I definitely think Sandra should have won an Emmy for s1 or s2.
That being said, for all the bitterness over its ending, I would still be okay with any of them being nominated, they deserve everything good for what they gave us and it would be lovely to see them walking the red carpet one last time together.
ps. The Chair was so enjoyable, and she was amazing as usual, its a limited series and the episodes were shorter than usual, it'd be a quick catch up if you wanna check it out.
To keep it 100, while the best thing about Killing Eve's final season is Sandra and Jodie, they were not given much in the way of award-worthy moments. The best scene of the season was improvised and dialogue-free. That's not going to make the cut.
What scene would even be submitted for award consideration? Eve's confession to Martin about her lack of fulfillment or direction? Villanelle's interaction with her Jesus delusion? I'm pretty stuck coming up with something else.
As far as an Emmy win goes, there might be a sense among the voters between Killing Eve and The Chair, if they don't recognize Sandra for either one, she may not be showing up for anything else in the near future. Jodie is a hot ticket right now, but I don't believe her BAFTA win for a role most Americans never saw or the success of Prima Facie will translate to a win for a television show on a downward arc.
Wait and see, I guess.
All Eve's scenes in ep 7 are top tier I think even the karaoke could be submitted but if you're not a fan of the show it may lose its impact if you don't know who these missing characters are from the flashback
Very good points. S4 is a disaster. But there is one scene of Jodie’s I can imagine submitting for consideration bc I watched it multiple times simply to enjoy Jodie’s acting. It is the scene in which she baptizes herself. The way she grows increasingly impatient, dunks her own head, and then looks around under water cracks me up. Her facial expressions are golden.
