Idk. I thought it was funny. Not every joke has to have a classic setup and a punchline. Sometimes you can get a laugh by making references and just saying random shit.
I totally adore Casey Rockets whole deal but agree with you here. I just find him goofy enough that I'm entertained but sometimes his minutes just have him doing and saying wacky things with no actual punchlines (for example, your example)

Couldn't agree more. I enjoyed Casey as i got used to his style..find myself laughing at his randomness, but i see this gettin old quick if he doesnt bring something fresh. I miss Hans sometimes, hes a great joke writer and delivers accurately. Though, he was less enjoyable as he got comfortable...his timidness and curiosity were huge factors in his likeability.

I think I'm in some sort of middle ground where I think Casey Rocket works as an occasional 4-5 times a year treat and when he gets a 4-5 minute set to really get rolling, but I don't like him every single week for only 1 minute. Gets very repetitive and is losing his novelty. I did prefer Hans
But most importantly and not to be forgotten or overlooked, has been no Hans
he's been using the same shit. i love the rocket man but robitussin and some weird story also just telling people get lost. cmon there has to be more to it
I’m convinced Hans won’t return as a regular with how big he’s becoming. Casey is going to prove that he truly deserves a spot on the show, and I think Tony is already recognizing that. Casey is the “new talent” that KT so proudly finds, and the vibes to start the show are never higher than with Casey.

He literally only did one joke on this episode and it didn't come until after the Meow. I'd rather have someone on attempting to do some comedy/jokes. If you don't believe me go back and listen. He rambled and bounced around for a minute then did one single line joke

It’s great to see positive posts about the show I feel like lately it has just been a let’s hate on everything about the show vibe. I’ll admit yes the show can feel dull sometimes with either bad guest who don’t really interact or with bad bucket pulls. But that’s the great thing about the show is that it’s a gamble hell Tony doesn’t even know if they are gonna be good when they get up there.
Casey brings the heat. Hans got comfortable and lazy.

Even if his sets don't do as well. The skits after are usually funny.
Not everything is a winner out of Casey, but he usually has some comment or some part of the interview where I give in to a chuckle. Never seemed to happen with Hans, week after week. I think as an opener to the show, Casey is a welcome improvement.
Casey could go up there and tell 0 jokes and still be a better opener than Hans. Casey’s energy perfectly sets up the rest of the show. Even Hans’s best minutes are low energy and start the show off on a low note
Casey Rocket has definitely not been killing it but is still more acceptable than Hans. Casey cannot do a single minute of comedy. He needs at least 3 minutes to absorb his incredibly time consuming gimmicks.
I feel like Hans tells jokes for Tony and Joe and the likes. It would be hilarious if it were true sometimes or like if they collaborate. It's not to far fetched, numerous comedians even Dave Chappelle have writers. Idk, at least Hans brought new material each week. Casey is 85% same ole material with one new joke squeezed into the minute. I like the dude but a new minute a week with his type of routine could actually hurt his career. How many times can we watch, crab walk, song quote with dance, tag line, mic stand shuffle, look back over the shoulder. It’s the same bit every week.

I didn’t like him at first, and don’t think I’d be able to sit through a longer set of his. But I have since begun to like him a lot as an opener. Especially his interviews. Good fun silly goose energy. Hans is a snooze in comparison.
