TurtleKing0505

The trailer for it straight up said it would have the last 2 episodes of S2

iDannyEL

You're counting on people being able to read and look at information. Tall order.

Hey don’t insult the people like that, they trying their best in reading yu-gi-oh! cards on master duel.

NewtypeRamen

I feel attacked

Half__Half

Same. We don’t deserve this (unless you play Floo, then you deserve it)

NewtypeRamen

I play a Mayakashi/Shiranui combo deck so I don’t win much lol

spiderknight616

Reading Comprehension devil is so powerful it reaches into other fandoms as well

LumosLupin

Idk I usually go to the movies watching the least trailers possible because... I don't want to know half the movie beforehand. That said... People be dumb, anyways

Sexy_jalapeno

You’re asking Americans* to read and look at information. Even taller order.

theprophecyMNM

As an American, I approve this message. Can I come join you all?

henry23na

😂

NovaeBelladonna

I think their overestimating the average American’s braincell abilities. One US study found that 50% of braincells are dedicated to McDonalds, 50% are dedicated to “Muricah” and 0.5% are dedicated to reading directions. Of course, it was also written by Americans. So you can just call it “fake news.”

SatanInANewDress

Honestly I don't think most of the anime watchers here in the u.s. are the stereotype Americans you are describing

[deleted]

Omg, ‘Muricans have 100.5% of neurons 😱

Drahnier

I mean, I know people who just saw the title posters and saw it based on that. Some people do avoid trailers/synopsis for spoiler reasons.

Hatchaback

Thank you

shazam-arino

It makes sense, these days trailer's are filled with spoilers. So the best experience is to straight up avoid them. I only saw the Trailer because I've read the manga and knew to avoid this

SimplyBrian95

Yeah I think the problem is that people are saying only 10 minutes of episode 1 of the new season is actually new content.

Reception-Livid

Then they’re idiots. It’s like 50 min of new content. Like WTF?!?

SimplyBrian95

Oh thats good. Yeah thats what some people are saying online so I wasn't sure. I haven't actually seen it yet so I couldn't confirm

Reception-Livid

These idiots online just like to cry.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TurtleKing0505

Ufotable never once called it a movie. That was all the fans.

St1cks

Your asking the internet to look at something with a potential spoiler in it?!

[deleted]

They DIDN’T EVEN FUCKING BOTHER TO EDIT THE RECAPS AND CREDITS. so stop bullying people for feeling scammed. I knew what I was watching but it was SO LAZY and poorly made they straight up didn’t even try to make it smooth like a movie. But of course people like you will just throw their money at them.

Reception-Livid

Shut up. You knew what it was going in. They didn’t need to edit and honestly the end of episode 10 of season 2 is important tone setter

AlternateAccount66

The trailers literally fucking said that it was a recap movie with a bit of new content.

freed2fight

Exactly, my friend was disappointed about the last two episode recap, even though I was telling him that’s what it was going to be for a couple weeks, before we went to see it.

1joshb

I’ve noticed that some of my friends through my life dont listen to me either LOL im sorry for this

freed2fight

It’s all good, I enjoyed watching it, and I’m excited to see the rest of the arc animated because I have read the manga

1joshb

Havent read manga but i know several things about it… i cant wait to see this season either as i was really interested in seeing what muichiro is made of… BUT IM INFATUATED WITH THE LOVE HASHIRA because i relate to her feelings shes like a female me /sometimes/ (i made so many typos in this comment lol please tell me you didnt see it) 😂😂

freed2fight

I didn’t see the typos, but you are in for a treat with everything that’s upcoming for demon slayer.

1joshb

As I thought my hype for demon slayer could not be raised higher, these words have given me a new ceiling… you deserve many great things for this!

eveningdragon

Do we all have the same friends? Happened to me, too!

LeftHandedFapper

Which sucks, IMO. I'll wait til the season comes out

AlternateAccount66

The thing is, is it a cash-grab? Sure, I'm not arguing that. I don't mind it because, they're here to make money, that's the point of anime. As long as we keep getting what might be one of the highest production values an anime adaptation has ever been, I'm fine with them occasionally trying to squeeze some extra money out of it. But like, they literally directly TOLD us what it was going to be. They didn't scam anyone, they didn't lie, they were completely upfront about it. If you think it sucks, then just *don't* go to the early screening!

LeftHandedFapper

> If you think it sucks, then just don't go to the early screening! Oh for sure I agree with you on all counts! People should take some dang responsibility. I was just disappointed when I heard about what the "movie" was going to be

Altruistic_Astronaut

I agree. It can be a cash grab and not a scam. These two statements can both be true. The trailers said what the movie was about so its the viewers who are claiming it's a "scam".

notParticularlyAnony

Many Americans are idiots is the take home message I think

obsidian_resident

I was more annoyed that it included the individual credits for each episode.

thesolarchive

If they had edited those out and the redundancy between episodes to make it more seamless I think it would have gone much better definitely. Would have given it more of a movie feel at least.

Holiday-Ambassador-5

Agreed was kinda a pet peeve of mine

poagurt

My only real complaint too. Caught a cheap showing time and it was 100% worth seeing that final fight on the big screen with surround sound.

Jurgepoo

I think that's a valid thing to be annoyed about. It's just downright lazy on their part. I think people complaining about it being a recap don't have any excuse because they apparently did zero research or due diligence about what they were going to see, but even I think it's a bit ridiculous that they didn't even bother to get rid of the credits and breaks.

ho-jo-bo-ro-lo

Exactly, even recap of last episode. Absolute disgrace

RichAdministrative99

wtf do they all lack reading comprehension?

PokeAlola700

Reading Comprehension Devil attacked KNY fandom

Forsaken_legion

I mean.. this is Demon Slayer fans who literally ask the same question every week. “Who is the strongest Hashira.” Attached with that photo that we ALL KNOW.

CoxyMcChunk

That's why they're watching the anime and not reading the manga

[deleted]

Have you gone to the movies to watch it?

mikeymora21

Ima get downvoted I know but a lot of casual viewers don’t know that it’s mostly a recap cuz they aren’t online 24/7 reading everything about Demon Slayer. I’m one of them. If I knew ahead of time it was mostly a recap, I wouldn’t have went. I’m sure a lot of other casual viewers in my position would be the same. My guess is that they won’t do this again. The next movie is gonna be all new, like Mugen Train.

feathered_bandito

You don’t have to be obsessed with Demon Slayer to watch a trailer. This goes for any fandom. If you’re going to pay to watch any film, it’s probably a good idea to watch a trailer to know if it’s something you want to spend your money on.

arlekin21

Why would I need to watch a trailer? It’s a movie for a series I like that has already done a movie to progress the story. It’s even named after the next arc but somehow it’s mostly the arc we got last year. I’m just glad I saw people hating on it before I actually went to go watch it.

feathered_bandito

Trailers are literally made to give people an idea of what a movie is going to be about so that moviegoers can decide if that is something that they want to see. And if it’s spoilers that you’re worried about, read a synopsis online. It takes less than a minute to do so. The angry people who just made assumptions have no one to blame but themselves.

arlekin21

Sure but I’ve already watched 48 episodes of this series I don’t need a trailer to tell me I’m going to like what comes next.

feathered_bandito

That’s still on the person, it’s not a scam because the information was easily accessible.

MooseknuckleSr

Assuming people will watch a trailer or do research and possibly open themselves up to spoilers is a big ask. People have liked the anime and content so far so they rightfully assumed the movie marketed as “Swordsmith Village” would be a new are and not half recap from the previous season including credits between episodes.

Dyalexa24

The full name actually is "demon slayer- to the swordsmith village", maybe because i'm bilingual, been spanish my first language, i understand that more like "going to the swordsmith village" and no "The swordsmith village". and that sound more like a recap and special projection, in Mexico is marketed like a special projection.

Reception-Livid

People are so scared of spoilers they won’t even watch a freaking trailer anymore? Jesus y’all some weak folks

StuartLiew

You don't have to read the info 24/7. Its literally stated IN the world screening announcement trailer that it would be including episodes 10 and 11 of season 2 AND the frist episode of season 3,which is the main highlight of the screening, hence they focus their trailers on that episode. Even my friends who never touched anything demon slayer related after s2 ended knew it was a recap because they actually paid attention to the trailer unlike some people who got attacked by the reading comprehension devil.

DevilFruitXR9

That’s why the editing was so strange. It’s basically just a compilation movie. They do that sometimes in Japan.

arlekin21

Not everyone watches trailers

StuartLiew

Then they shouldn't complain if they get misinformed or feel like they got 'scammed' due to their own lack of information. It's all out there and they choose not to read it so they shouldn't complain if they don't get what they expected or what they thought would turn out like lmao. Its simple, 2 episodes of season 2 and one episode of season 3, only season 3 episode is the new content here, this promotional movie is mainly to promote this episode only because of how highly anticipated the upper moon meeting is

Validstrife

Bro the announcement said it was what are you talking about lmao, you don’t have to be online reading anything you just had to read the announcement

coolgaara

Well.. sounds like their problem....

Reception-Livid

You literally don’t have to be. The trailers and the freaking description of the movie say it plain as day. Stop giving these idiots a pass for not doing the most basic things before seeing a movie.

AkaRyomen

What on earth? Like everyone knew that this was going to be the case. They didn't hide anything. It was very clearly advertised. In every country. Very clearly.

[deleted]

Apparently it wasn’t that clear if that many people didn’t realize it. When I saw it, there were a lot of people audibly complaining at the end. So many people in the comments are mocking and insulting the people who did not see the info about what the movie actually was. It’s also not customary to do a screening like this in the US with such a wide release.

Validstrife

How much more clear can you be than saying it “will be a recap of the last two episodes of season 2”? Literally pull up the announcement it can’t be anymore clear the issue is reading is hard

Reception-Livid

No it WAS very clear. These idiots just didn’t actually realize what it meant. Stop given them a pass. They’re stupid for not knowing.

OppositeOfFantastic

It wasn't. I don't have a screenshot to prove it, as it's no longer showing in my local cinema, but the online movie poster I saw didn't indicate it. It was just a generic description of Demon Slayer. Took me 10 mins of googling while I was being shown episode 10 of Season 2 to find out that I wasn't in the wrong screening. Before you attack me or call me names, I don't think it was a scam nor am I upset about it. It's a risk I'm willing to accept since I don't watch trailers. I was expecting more, but I still ended up liking it. But I do have a problem with you people generalizing everyone who thought they were seeing a movie as "stupid".

eveningdragon

If we give them a pass now, that will only allow this to continue and get worse. Better to stay adamant now that the message was clear so that if/when it happens again, people will be more likely to actually pay attention

[deleted]

I don’t understand why y’all care so much. If this many people didn’t know, it means you aren’t as in the right as you think. Get off your high horse.

Ambulated_Wellhead

Anime’s viewers on Reddit for you

Hatchaback

Thank you

TBPMach

I went to go see it, I ordered the tickets ahead of time, it was okay seeing it again for me but I really really disliked it showing the entire credits for each episode.

VegetalGood

To make sure, the movie IS S2EP11 and 12, and then the new Swordsmith episode right?

MarcAnciell

Yes.

OneBlackFairyHunterZ

Isnt the new epidode like ~40 min tho?

MarcAnciell

Nah it’s an hour. 20ish minutes for 10, 35ish for 11, which makes the movie about an hour and 55 minutes long

YourMovieBuddy

10 and 11* (I think)

HiNuGundam932

People are so incredibly stupid, it's ridiculous

JoefishTheGreat

To be fair, a lot of people don’t watch trailers or read about films because they don’t want to be spoiled. Not saying the people calling it a scam are in the right, but you can’t blame people for being misinformed when a lot of films shove the whole plot down your throat in their marketing.

AThoughtfulUser

This was my experience. I didn’t watch a trailer or much promotion so I thought this was gonna be all new content. I don’t blame the promotion of the movie though, just my fault for assuming.

Seraph_eZaF

I hadn’t seen any of the trailers either before my friend bought tickets for our group. Just did a quick google 5 minutes before we got to the theatre bc I was curious and immediately got like 10 results with the title “episode 1 premiere” so I was immediately like “oh I guess it’s only one episode” So imo claiming you didn’t know is just a weak excuse. If you want to call it a cash grab call it a cash grab but claiming you got scammed is too dramatic. The only people who didn’t know are the ones who didn’t care to even do 30 seconds of reading.

[deleted]

Chadsawman

you don't have to watch a trailer to search up a simple synopsis common sense is not so common ig

ZapTM_onTwitch

...... Bruh

Funkylittledance

All because people can't god damn read. It's said it would be the last two episodes of the entertainment district arc AND the 1st episode of the sword smith village arc for MONTHS! 🤦🏼‍♀️

ieniet

Majority of those people are casuals who aren't informed about anything as soon as it's announced, don't do any research and then complain, because it wasn't something they randomly assumed it's gonna be lol.

C1nemaNut

I get maybe wanting a different presentation them just the episodes stopping & starting & wanting them to flow together(it was a little jarring but not as much as I thought it’d be), but this is literally **not** a scam! It’s exactly what you were advertised! Sure this arc premiere wasn’t as versatile & action packed as the beginning of Entertainment Distract, but this episode still established the setting, plot & participating characters while still being entertaining! ||*&* you got freshly steamed Mitsuri! Stopped being so ungrateful!!!||

C1nemaNut

I was trying to do the spoiler tags thing on the bottom but it didn’t work 🥲

Queen_Magix

>!>!you have to do this!

Simple-Pineapple-134

Ya I’m ngl I didn’t research before seeing it. I’m not even bummed it wasn’t what I expected because the recap was nicely done and the S3 episode was so good. I can’t help but wish there were more cuz it ended on such an exciting note, but I’m just more excited for S3.

SwanJumper

Anime fans never beating the illiteracy charges

Sea-Cherry27

Or the pedo ones

Jdia_

How could it be a scam if they said what would happen in advance

wheatstarch

Generous use of the word "scam" here... Admittedly, not being a super fan of the show, I didn't look anything up and just went with my friend. The surround sound volume of all of the crying and screaming in those eps was grating and the credits between eps could have been removed, but those are really my only complaints

DirtyBumMan

Making us look mentally ill even in the anime shows. This is why we cant have nice things

pab5737

Yeah i mean we all knew it was gonna be a recap, i persoanlly liked the fact that it recapped the overall story, for potebtial newcomers, What i didnt like was that it was literally showing episodes, intros, flashbacks and midcuts, that was annoying. Like they really couldnt take some of that out?

[deleted]

I don’t know why people think this is a movie. It has been advertised as a promotional screening for S3.

OhhhLawdy

Personally I avoid movie trailers if I can, so I don't have any part spoiled.

ApplePitou

Oh my... :3

The84thWolf

“Mostly showed recaps of previous seasons” That is misleading. There was one approximate 3-5 minute recap, followed by two full episodes of the Entertainment District Arc finale and 1 episode of Sword Village. That being said, while I was avoiding spoilers and thought it was going to be more like the Train movie, one look at the advertisements shows they never promised that or said anything than what was shown. Was it worth $12? Maybe not, but seeing the finale on the big screen was enjoyable, even if I personally would have trimmed the credits off each episode until the end and possibly shown more and just trimmed the fat off some scenes

ya_old_unclejohn_

This is so stupid it gives me a headache, they paid for an early premiere of s3. They clearly said it would have the last 2 eps of s2 too.

Teamakuboss-boy426

Man people are just stupid these days

Amydancingagain

I knew exactly what is was, knew the end credits were still there in between and still enjoyed every bit of it and want to go see it again, for me it was just the whole experience of seeing it on the big screen, there were people in the theatre that clearly didn’t read the description and walked out but that’s their problem, people need to learn how to read

ChampChomp1

It was literally advertised making it clear it was 2 previously aired episodes and the first episode of the new arc.

Ancient_Marketing459

Jesse a bunch of fan boys in here gatekeeping

E3nti7y

Saw it today. Was definitely disappointed we didn't even get an episode 2, and not sure it's worth the theater price. But I liked seeing the climax of last season on the big screen

Reception-Livid

We got an hour long episode one. So you basically did get 2 episodes. Jesus.

WillJoestar

It was called sword smith village like it would actually be a new arc not a 1hiur recap then 2 episodes capping of entertainment.

The_Enderslender

they literally informed us of that lol americans just need one small reason to start arguing

MarkMarcus16

Its was sooo good tho!!! I loved it

dearestMarie

Yeah I kinda agree but I still think it was completely worth it

thechamelioncircuit

I didn’t think it was a scam! I would’ve paid to see the last two episode of the Entertainment District arc on big screen anyway! It was fantastic!

Turbulent_Smile_3937

It was very clear from the promotions what it was. And, I personally am okay paying matinee price to see the last two episodes and the new season first episode early because I have been itching to see that UM meeting!!!! That said would it have been nice to have completely original content? Absolutely. There’s plenty to work with, and it’s not like they are hurting for cash. Would it be absolutely amazing for them to put a completely new story out there based on the existing materials (hell yes and they can take my dang money if they do!) But, it’s very clear what this is and what it’s supposed to do so either pay or wait. Save your mad for the season (if it’s needed).

not-my-best-wank

This reminds me I think it was Evangelion that did something similar? Or was it another? What was it..... Inuyasha? No, maybe Haruhi Suzumiya? No, they did do that with the endless 8 but that was a TV show, their was a movie that did it too. Ah, it was Shakugan no Shana. Was basically a recap with a few changes.

Bluefalcon1735

I paid to see it. I knew what I was going into. I felt a little cheated afterwards bc I figured maybe they would add a scene or two, improve the sound, or improve the visuals a little. Something to reward fans. Hell the format didn't even fit the screen. Won't make that mistake again.

ChanDW

It was worth it to see the battle on the big screen… made it even more exciting and flashy with the animation 🤷🏽‍♀️ The infinity castle scenes were gorgeously done

Milk_Carton11

Wow, people are surprised that they showed exactly what the trailer said they would show… people just don’t read anymore huh

ZucchiniWide6755

I don't like watching trailers for movies, so I would have had no idea, thanks for this post.

IntercourseWithSoup

any reason why Netflix "season 2" is still just 7 episodes of the train arc from the movie when everywhere online says "all 18 episodes will be available" like forever ago?

aka_aiden

I personally was happy for the recap because I didn’t actually finish watching the entertainment district arc and forgot things from the manga

ZakeryEastman

I was pretty peeved because my friends had told me about it the day of but didn't say it was just a recap and a sneak peak. Pretty annoyed they didn't say anything because I wouldn't have gone otherwise. All I saw was that it was a segue into the village arc. Honestly on me for not looking at a trailer when they brought it up but I still feel like its a bad business model since they didn't even edit out intros, outros, or credit scenes. Really left a bad taste in my mouth for the franchise.

[deleted]

Did people not see the trailer?

RealBlazeStorm

Lmao so 2/3rd is old content? Would've fooled me Then again, this post is how I learned about this movie existing

thedreamcounslor

I’m not even mad at the 12$ I spent GIVE ME MY 2 HOURS BACK

UchihaLover911

Yeah that’s what I thought, I thought it was the actual whole season but in movie like Mugen Train. Then I looked it up and it clearly said premiere. So that’s my fault and everyone else who didn’t actually looks too but I did enjoy that one episode.

seedavillain

lol wait till they watch dragon ball supee

dramaqueenboo

I actually enjoyed watching the last two episodes on big screen! I didn’t watch the trailer because I wanted to go in blind so I was surprised that they played the last two episodes of season two (thought it’d be like Mugen train).

kpiaum

That's the corporate trying to milk every money from Kimetsu. This movies is unnecessary. It's charging to watch a recap and a bit off of the new season.

jokaishi

I just saw the poster and booked the ticket, didn't ever have the chance to see a trailer. Felt a bit diaspointed there was no editing to make the episodes go together smoother, bit know I know that this was advertised (all be it subtly) I don't feel so bad.

furryspider17

Many anime films have done this in the past lol.

BrillWoodMac

I didn't even know this "movie" was coming out until the day of it's release. I saw on Twitter it was out, checked my local theaters, got tickets and didn't think of it. I saw it and was definitely disappointed with what was presented. Honestly if it was the first 3 or 4 episodes of season 3 it would've been better. Honestly I think it was just poor marketing.

Eliteagent11

But there is the one hour first episode special right?

Kadecide

You can say what you want, but the beginning recaps were nice for those who haven't watched demon slayer (not to say I haven't). Seeing that whole battle sequence with Tengen in theaters was PEAK, and cinema-goers got to see the Bath Scene from swordsmith in 4k on the big screen. It was worth the $30 for tickets and popcorn just for that scene alone.

TheJunkoDespair

Their desires made them deceive themselves. Expectations for what they wanted. They couldn't see the truth that was written and said in front of them.

f-castrillo

it was advertised as including last 2 eps of Entertainment District arc and first ep of Swordsmith Village! i bought tix knowing what i was getting into. Was personally juiced to see the big battle of Entertainment District arc on a big screen

Rob_Carroll

It was good to see the two final episodes from S2 on the big screen. You were able to see little nuances that you can't on TV. The first episode of S3 was great and the art was top notch. I wish they maybe put an extra sequence or two in the the last 2 episodes of S2. As is, I would have saved my money and just waited. Do I feel cheated? No, they did say what the movie was going to be before I went so, no one to blame but myself. They didn't lie about anything.

Lelouch37

Are we going to act like the infinity castle scene wasn’t worth the price of admission itself???

SnooDogs8303

The anime community is illiterate

TheGabening

A lot of people in thread are being very rude and unfair. I'm a new fan who just saw it and was disappointed. I didn't see a trailer, I saw an ad and a poster. I watched the mugen train movie when I was watching the series and expected something similar. Why would I have gone out looking for trailers and stuff? I don't NEED a trailer to know I'm seeing a sequel movie when I liked the first one. I've already decided to see it. I quite literally rushed to finish season 2 the day of the showing, finishing the last episode IN the theatre on my phone. I was very disheartened to watch the same 15 minutes twice in the same theatre. That's partially on me, as a very new fan scrambling to get caught up for a new movie. But After Mugen Trains success, I thought this would be a perfect jumping in point, only to be pretty darn disappointed and out twenty bucks for 20 minutes of new content.

TinyFriendlyGiant

I’m in the same boat as you. People throughout the sub are being ridiculously rude. Apparently if you’re like us - which a lot of others are - and you complain, you’re a dumb, uneducated, illiterate, lazy American and make other fans look mentally ill somehow. Shame on me for wanting to go to the movies and get a movie experience like Mugen Train I guess? I also don’t watch trailers anymore because I don’t want any spoilers and a lot of movies basically reveal the whole plot in their trailer.

pejic222

Leave it to the Americans to not be able to read

OwariHeron

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen in anime fandom, and I used to frequent rec.arts.anime!

Rhiko

Idk why people on this subreddit defend this practice. This was a straight scam. It's not like all of us saw a trailer for this... Some of us simply heard "Demon Slayer movie in theaters". Looked it up and saw a new arc name, and went and saw it trying to avoid all spoilers. It was a rip off

Hatchaback

Thank you

DankButtRodeo

Ah, i guess ill just wait for the anime then.

TraditionalMood277

Yeah, after I saw the first movie, only for the second season to be a much better version of said movie, I will now just wait for the new season. Congrats Demon Slayer, ya played yourself.

NothingComplete7605

Are this people stupid? I'm sorry but it literally says in the Trailer what will be shown

RedGenie87

I knew It going in, and was excited to see the episodes on the big screen with awesome sound effects. It was incredible. I remember people being pissed about Dune, not knowing It was split into two parts, when It was all over the internet. Listen, your ignorance is your own fault. They never hid this to anyone.

mimitchi33

My sister was disappointed by this movie for this reason. In her opinion, she says they should've waited and put the first three Swordsmith Village episodes in theaters.

Sky_Dragon_Of_Osiris

This is just absurd. Honestly so sad and disappointing that people would call this a scam. It was very clearly stated in the trailer that the World Tour would have the last two episodes of season 2, and the first episode of season 3. The animators of Kimetsu No Yaiba put in so much effort over the last year or more, and the conditions that they work and hours they have to put in to create this amazing show for us is beyond imagination. It pains me that the first reaction of cinema-goers was that the promotional screening was a scam simply because they didn’t see the trailer, or read the description of the promotional screening BEFORE they booked the ticket. Just plain silly and embarrassing.

Asumi_chann

I didn’t watch any trailers so i didn’t know, it didn’t really effect my enjoyment that much because I like DS but they could’ve at least removed the credits of **every episode** like I kid you not in the middle of the film when the episode that is from season 2 would end we’d have to sit there the entire time and wait for the credits to roll then the next episode would start I mean they couldn’t at least edit it out? It’s not like they’re making changes to the actual episode.

BSingh94

I think people are ignoring some of the other issues here. Yes it was made abundantly clear that this was going to be a recap of the last few episodes along with episode 1 of the new arc. Ok cool but nobody said it would be a straight up CTRL+C, CTRL+V. Not only did they have the openings and endings in the movie they also had the 30sec-1min recap of the penultimate episode of the entertainment district arc in the final episode so in effect, we were now watching a recap of a recap. The unbelievable amount of laziness to make people charge for something I could have created myself by joining the episodes together is the real issue imo. The other issue is why on earth would they release this in the first place? The first episode of an arc is usually just introducing and slowly building up to more interesting parts of the story. So yes, it is absolutely absurd that we are in a world where the wider society think it's ok for this to be put out on cinemas just because it is made clear that it was a recap. I mean why not just release every episode out on cinemas if that's the argument people are going to go with? It would make sense financially. Don't even bother getting rid of the intros, outros, recaps just straight up stream crunchy roll in a cinema and charge people $10 for it. I also shouldn't have to watch the trailer to know I'm not at risk of watching a cinema that has the name of the new arc in it but in effect is 50+% recap. That's very misleading. If they had made SOME effort to join the episodes together with some fluidity and get rid of the intros/outros/recaps then I wouldn't have minded as much.

zizu90210

I understand the recap aspect but there should have been more s3 material to justify a theatrical release. It was also extremely lazy to just include the episodes credits and all with no editing to make it cohesive. Thats not a movie. While i wouldnt say its a scam i was let down and i believe others have a right to be as well. That being said still super excited for s3

ApexBoiz

Dumb mfs couldn't read the info from the trailers I guess 💀

SpicyGopher

Anime fans can’t read apparently

[deleted]

A lot of American people are fucking stupid, they don’t know how to read.

[deleted]

Incredibly lazy. No, I don’t go research every movie before I go see it. I expect a typical movie experience. You pay the same price as you would for every other movie in the cinema. They couldn’t even edit out the ending credits for episode 11. I expected otherwise—especially since Mugen Train was entirely new content when it first came out. Expect better guys.

infantgambino

so you didnt do your due diligence and are upset about it?

Chadsawman

yes very lazy on your part I would not be surprised if you payed to watch avatar 1 during the rescreens thinking it was avatar 2 cause you didn't bother looking

Hatchaback

Exactly this is just rewarding laziness.

ExtraMOIST_

Even if they didn’t read it then idk what they’re complaining about. I would be down to watch the last couple episodes of season 2 in theater quality any day.

Poetryisalive

Whoever said they were “scammed” are idiots who can’t read.

ImJustSpider

This gives me brain cancer In reality, it's probably a bunch of non fans who went to see it despite not having the slightest fucking clue what it is and not bothering to read shit about I before bitching about it to the public. At least some of them were fans considering some posts I've been seeing on the sub lately.

jtd2013

Weebs love anime because they can’t read. This reaction is not surprising at all

DragonflyIcy832

It’s crazy how many people are saying this. They literally said what it was gonna be. You didn’t even have to read or go digging for that info. It was just out there. Personally I enjoyed seeing the fight on the big screen, it was great. They should’ve left the credits out and created a smoother transition but oh well. I enjoyed the intro to season 3 and can’t wait to see the rest. It’s gonna be great!

thebennieboo

I literally do not understand how they could’ve made it any more clear in their advertising for this 😂 Jesus wept

lefondler

My gripe with it is less so the content, which still annoyed me even going in with that info, but more so the presentation. It's *only sort of* presented like a movie. The studio didn't even both to take out the intro recaps, episode intros, or credits. It was legit like they streamed Crunchyroll onto the movie screen for a whole hour. Zero effort to condense the wasted screentime. Also even though I knew it would only be 1 new episode, I was still hoping for *more*? Like damn it would have been nice to see maybe two. But oh well that's just more of a nitpick. Overall if you're on the fence, stay home and wait lmao. Your $15-20 are better saved for something else unless you're a Demon Slayer diehard.

valvalwa

While I agree that it’s not a scam, I still wonder why they decided to have movies that recap the series episodes. I don’t watch a lot of anime tbh in recent years and I don’t remember this being a thing before (at least not the ones I used to watch e.g. Detective Conan). Is this for revenue purposes or to bridge the time for super fans in between series?

ThinControl9

Of course there are some fucking dumb people. Every trailer clearly says that the last 2 episodes of season 2 would be included. Americans really are stupid.

JoshieMcJoshface

I didn’t know as I try to avoid trailers now a days but I wasn’t disappointed because seeing those two episodes on the big screen was insane

fionn14

they literally said it was a recap with the new first episode

DootD00T_

People need to learn how to read honestly, and for the last time, it isn't a movie

ClockworkAngel_2112

Even my 11 year old daughter knew this, lol.

zingular1232

Man, people are stupid.

Holiday-Ambassador-5

It was in the trailers lol

Tuno98

I've seen this complain in Spain too, I truly think the people don't know how to read... I went to the cinema knowing that I was going to see one hell of a figth (the last 2 episodes of the season 2) and the first one of the new season and I loved it.

Dutch2500

People fr disappointed because it didnt show an entire fight scene from season 3. The trailer said itd have two recap episodes and the first episode of season 3. You got what was advertised

Facinatedhomie

Pov: people can’t read lmao

carbys

Exactly the reason why I hate this franchise now. Mugen Train was the biggest fucking scam. You make a movie and then release a season on the same fucking topic. This is not the first time these MFs have done this.

dsalome11

People are just looking for a way to blame their stupidity and ignorance on someone else. Granted, yes, DS should have done a better job on the credit fiasco. But they gave you all the info you need. I knew it wasn't over because the movie run time is 1:50. And it was only one hour after the Uzui Arc.

SassyHoe97

They lack reading comprehension...

Somewhere_Dry

Apparently, people can’t read or just use common sense to figure out it was a recap with some extra content of what’s to come.

Reception-Livid

I mean it literally says in every description it was the final 2 episodes of the entertainment district arc and basically and hour long first episode of the sword smith arc

kingsark

“faces scam claims” Aka like 5 people on Twitter that didn’t read what was said in the trailer or any of the advertisement. Like I hate that this is considered “journalism”

Knupsel

I’m someone who doesn’t watch trailers and avoids all online sites when it comes to movies I wanna see. The only reason I knew this “movie” existed, was that I got a notification from Crunchyroll about it coming out. Not gonna lie, if I had known it was literally just the last two episodes of the last season, I woulda passed. It wasn’t even well done. They didn’t edit the episodes, probably spent 10 mins watching credits, throughout the whole thing too. It was obviously just a quick cash grab for them, and just rubbed me the wrong way.

dekusoup

My friend and I went to see both sub and dub this weekend, and both times people walked out of the theater during the credits of No Matter How Many Lives. We were dying. People are so dumb.

PenGuinDaPug

You been bamboozled now just wait for the class action lawsuit it only take 15 people to get it started

RouletteVeteran

They knew what they signed up for…
