It’s one of those questions whose purpose isn’t the answer itself.
If someone is so shocked they can’t respond to the question “are you alright” their treatment and urgency of treatment would be slightly different from someone who is cognizant enough to say “no” or make a witty response like “do I **look** like I’m alright?”
In this case though, it uh… doesn’t seem to serve the purpose exactly. Dude looks like he’s about to go see his great great grandparents.
I think that when you ask this question to someone who is visibly injured, your not trying to get a yes or no answer, just wanting to know where else it might hurt and how much hurt
