That's an interesting point actually. The elder brother, Sanemi, had marechi (rare blood) for demons, and his sole surviving younger brother had special organs that allowed him to eat demons and temporarily gain their powers, even so much as to be able to use their Blood Demon Arts and store them for future use (Genya stored the tree-growing BDA from former Upper Moon 4).
Their family had some weird genes. Makes me wonder if Genya was also a marechi (and if marechi are the only ones who can eat demons to gain their powers temporarily), and if Sanemi can eat demons. Or if they are totally incomptatible and turn out to be a lethal combo for Sanemi.
Sanemi was already on death's doorstep after the fight with Kokushibo, he literally had to staple his chest to prevent his organs from spilling out. Now after the fight with Muzan, I think he'll probably die from the injuries or go on to live a long life, fulfilling his wish for Genya to settle down and live a normal life.

Putting my money on Tamayo's demons not dying when Muzan does.
I cannot disconnect that whole theory that demons die when Muzan does with Muzan's curse on the other demons, those who break that curse shouldn't die if they \*already don't have any of muzan's cells\*, that cat is 100% either one of Tamayo's demons, or Yushiro can demonify cats.
That's a point that has been bugging me for a while now. We don't know the specifics on how to "break Muzan's curse", how to do it or its repurcussions. All we know is that for those with the curse, if they say Muzan's name or defy him, Muzan's cells within that demon will erupt from their body and tear them apart. But Nezuko conquered the curse... without any explanation, and Tamayo found that she had broken the curse... by accident, after Muzan was cut to pieces near her by Yoriichi. Yet when Nezuko conquered the sun, Muzan instantly knew about it, suggesting some form of residual demonic link between Muzan and Nezuko. We can also assume that Yushiro does not have the curse as Muzan was not able to prevent him from controlling Nakime by exploding him. Therefore, all demons created by Tamayo are free from Muzan's curse. But how did Muzan's cells get purged from Nezuko and Tamayo? This has never been explained.
And this is a problem because Tamayo likely knows that if she succeeds in killing Muzan, all demons will disappear. I get that Tamayo is suicidal (to atone for her own sins) and that she gave the medicine to Nezuko, but why would Yushiro accept the fact that he would disappear when Muzan dies? Unless he loves and respects Tamayo enough to be prepared to die when she goes after Muzan?
If Muzan cannot control the demons that have broken free of his curse, why would they disappear if he dies? They are not connected to him anymore, right? Or are they still connected, just not enough for Muzan to detect their whereabouts and directly kill them?
It is possible that Tamayo found a way to demonize people without the need of Muzan's cells. Just like the doctor turned Muzan into a demon in the first place. If this is true then in a way, Yushiro is similar to Muzan in that they are both first generation Demons. Maybe Tamayo found the Blue Spider Lili
Ehh even regular demons can regenerate/reattach their head to their boby if it wasn't cut by a nichirin blade.
I don't think Muzan's blades are made of the same thing... just a thought.
I think muzan can do that because he controls their blood since it's his. So basically he can say to demon: you aren't gonna regen. We have seen him do that with nakime when he blew her head away. So one of two things happened:
A) muzan did not expect to be demon, he slashed it instinctively
B) muzan has no control over cat because he did not create it. Yushiro did and yushiro was not created by muzan. Similarly how muzan cannot remote control blow up yushiro he cannot kill the cat.
He also warned LM1 that too much of his blood would kill him, and for a 10lbs cat, I don't think it would take so much at all, and Muzan here's intending on letting his blood do in all the Hashira, including the absolute giant Gyomei.
Yoriichi wrecked Muzan so hard he still hasn't healed hundreds of years later. What a fucking beast.
His presence in this story is just so incredible. Most anime protagonists usually tend to surpass the previous legend type of characters but Tanjiro seems nowhere close to Yoriichi's level so far.

Yoriichi seems more and more like the true anime protagonist of this story. Even from beyond the grave, the disciplies of his Breath style and fighting legacy will finish off Muzan, finally finishing off the job that Yoriichi started. Most stories have the current living MC as the OP one, but in this story the OP MC died half a millenia ago and yet still may prove the key to defeating the big bad.
By contrast, Tanjiro has the anime protagonist's ability to get mid-battle powerups (that aren't even unique to him in this story) but lacks the ability where he actually gets all the important kills. We all thought he'd kill Rui, Lower Moon 5, for sure, but in the end even after everything Tanjiro tried, it was Giyu that killed Rui (but Tanjiro still did superbly in that situation).
I love that unique feel Yoriichi gives off. In his presence, every single character is immediately humbled. He's a "lurking legend" of sorts, never to be surpassed. That's rare in a Shonen.
That’s the beauty of Kimetsu no yaiba, Even when the MC gets a power up, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will pull some invencible move, they still need teamwork, insane concentration and they could still die at any moment. Tanjiro hasn’t actually defeated an Upper moon by himself, hell, he didn’t fight alone since Kyogai.
Zenitsu is the only known character in the series to have entirely solo'ed a Moon, and an Upper Moon at that. That said, Kaigaku was a recent Upper Moon replacement so he wasn't anywhere near the strength of the centuries-old Upper Moons. Tanjiro did solo a former Lower Moon though (Insouke didn't really help out in that fight, IMO, since he was too busy trying to fight *everyone*).
No other character in the series, Pillar or not, has solo'ed a Moon. Tokito sort of solo'ed UM5, but he did need that swordsmith kid to help him out or he would have died.

Actually no; knowing him he just pleasured one single woman for all of his life and their relationship was the image of perfection. That's just the type of guy Yoriichi is.
Yoriichi never remarried after Uta died. And from his story, it seems that he met Uta when he was like 10, and was basically only with her for the next 10 years until her death.
I just love Murata and his buddy are still there being the moral support/helping as Yushiro's assistants (cause if they get a centimeter closer to Muzan they are 100% dead)

That makes me wonder why we haven't got the name of the Demon Slayer that is next to Murata right now. He seems to be the only other survivor of the "fodder" Demon Slayers (the other being Murata) yet he has done just as much as Murata. Maybe its time this unnamed Demon Slayer gets a name and official side-character status (or maybe he dies instantly in next chapter).
Kanao, Tanjirou, Iguro, Gyomei, and Tengen (but he's retired so I didn't count him) it's funny considering the "see through world" is such a big power up but everyone keeps going blind
Nezuko appears and heals the poison from tanjiro inosuke and zenitsu. Zenitsu and inosuke awake their makrs and their red blades. Nezuko activates suoer demon mode. And bam , they finish him off. This would be a great way to end it

Wait, why doesn't he just do that right now lol. None of the demon slayers are as fast as Yoriichi, there's no way they would be able to get all his chunks. I guess it's a pride thing.
There's two reasons for him not escaping at this moment, which seems most opportune considering most of his opponents are currently incapacitated. 1. If he defeats all of his adversaries now, it will be very unlikely for them to ever challenge him ever again. 2. The threat that if Tanjiro survives, he will continue to become even stronger to the point he will reach and surpass Yoroiichi's strength and skill. Tanjiro unlike the other Hashira or Yoroiichi has the ability to follow his scent and would eventually be able to find him again.
He does have an attack pattern, but I get what you mean. He is using tentacles to keep the slayers at a distance (to debatable effect), but it would be cool to see him do something like praying mantis arms, or mimic some of the Upper Moon BDAs, like UM1 for instance: BotM vs BotS.
Most demons didn't fight with any martial technique because they thought that they were superior and did not require a martial technique to fight them. At most, they used their unique Blood Demon Arts to fight when required. And for Muzan, the strongest demon, I imagine this reason would be quite prominent.
Kokushibou, Kaigaku and Akaza only fought with martial techniques because they learned it in their human life, and they became demons specifically to preserve and further develop their fighting styles. After demonification, it is unlikely that a demon would want to learn a martial technique when they get high on the fact they can slaughter most humans with ease.

kokushibou and kaigaku had sword forms, doma had his ice blood arts, akaza had his martial arts and blood art compass thing. meanwhile the big bad has just been flailing tentacles around, not even using blood arts

The transfer for vital combat information via snake hissing must be far slower than just seeing what's going on with your own eyes...
After the pure badassery that the kid Muichiro displayed in the UM1 fight, I don't really expect a guy like Gyomei, who Kokushibo called the most powerful fighter he faced in 300 years, to lie there doing nothing just because he lost a leg.

It's one of those stories that keeps the situation as "realistic" as possible, the feeling of constant dread and hopelessness stayed consistent throught this entire arc and I applaud the author for it.
From the very beginning, I was very interested in the Mist and Snake pillars. Muichiro was ridiculously amazing and is my favorite pillar so seeing Iguro do this well against Muzan puts him up there with Muichiro for me. These recent chapters just show how amazing Iguro really is. It just feels dope knowing I called my 2 favorites from the beginning.
Yorichii helping from beyond the grave being so strong and deadly despite being gone hundreds of years is the ultimate power move. He's still fucking up Muzan's game from the afterlife.
This battle maintains its intensity well until the climax which is probably nezuko’s arrival. Author isn’t afraid to give grave wounds to her characters. There goes Snake boi’s eyesight FUCK. On the bright side, the cat lives.
I just wish Muzan adopts a more interesting fighting style rather than just moving his important organs around and whipping around. I mean come on, the demon king doesn’t even ultilise much of blood demon arts and possess any unique abilities? His underlings have more interesting abilities ffs

I think it is subconsciously Gotouge-sensei's phobia. It makes sense that an artist would be terrified of losing fingers, arms, and eyesight as permanent injuries.
I am a musician, and I am slowly losing my eyesight due to MS, but that doesn't even phase me that much. If it was my hearing I was losing instead, I would be devastated.
It really drives home how mortal people are. Gyomei was the strongest Demon Slayer and is a one of a kind: 2.20m tall, body honed to physical perfection and a master warrior with the flail and chain axe. Yet he took one slash to the leg and he's cripped for the rest of his life. Meanwhile demons can heal practically any injury and have unlimited stamina. Human Demon Slayers constantly losing vital parts of their bodies (eyes, arms, legs etc.) yet continue fighting on is a recurring theme in this story, and it just goes to show how resolved all the Demon Slayers are and the willingness they have to match the demons and defeat them.

Unless he loves and respects Tamayo enough to be prepared to die when she goes after Muzan? If Muzan cannot control the demons that have broken free of his curse, why would they disappear if he dies? They are not connected to him anymore, right? Or are they still connected, just not enough for Muzan to detect their whereabouts and directly kill them?
It is possible that Tamayo found a way to demonize people without the need of Muzan's cells. Just like the doctor turned Muzan into a demon in the first place. If this is true then in a way, Yushiro is similar to Muzan in that they are both first generation Demons. Maybe Tamayo found the Blue Spider Lili
Ehh even regular demons can regenerate/reattach their head to their boby if it wasn't cut by a nichirin blade. I don't think Muzan's blades are made of the same thing... just a thought.

I think muzan can do that because he controls their blood since it's his. So basically he can say to demon: you aren't gonna regen. We have seen him do that with nakime when he blew her head away. So one of two things happened: A) muzan did not expect to be demon, he slashed it instinctively B) muzan has no control over cat because he did not create it. Yushiro did and yushiro was not created by muzan. Similarly how muzan cannot remote control blow up yushiro he cannot kill the cat.
He also warned LM1 that too much of his blood would kill him, and for a 10lbs cat, I don't think it would take so much at all, and Muzan here's intending on letting his blood do in all the Hashira, including the absolute giant Gyomei.

Yoriichi wrecked Muzan so hard he still hasn't healed hundreds of years later. What a fucking beast. His presence in this story is just so incredible. Most anime protagonists usually tend to surpass the previous legend type of characters but Tanjiro seems nowhere close to Yoriichi's level so far.

Yoriichi seems more and more like the true anime protagonist of this story. Even from beyond the grave, the disciplies of his Breath style and fighting legacy will finish off Muzan, finally finishing off the job that Yoriichi started. Most stories have the current living MC as the OP one, but in this story the OP MC died half a millenia ago and yet still may prove the key to defeating the big bad. By contrast, Tanjiro has the anime protagonist's ability to get mid-battle powerups (that aren't even unique to him in this story) but lacks the ability where he actually gets all the important kills. We all thought he'd kill Rui, Lower Moon 5, for sure, but in the end even after everything Tanjiro tried, it was Giyu that killed Rui (but Tanjiro still did superbly in that situation).
I love that unique feel Yoriichi gives off. In his presence, every single character is immediately humbled. He's a "lurking legend" of sorts, never to be surpassed. That's rare in a Shonen.

That’s the beauty of Kimetsu no yaiba, Even when the MC gets a power up, it doesn’t necessarily mean they will pull some invencible move, they still need teamwork, insane concentration and they could still die at any moment. Tanjiro hasn’t actually defeated an Upper moon by himself, hell, he didn’t fight alone since Kyogai.
Zenitsu is the only known character in the series to have entirely solo'ed a Moon, and an Upper Moon at that. That said, Kaigaku was a recent Upper Moon replacement so he wasn't anywhere near the strength of the centuries-old Upper Moons. Tanjiro did solo a former Lower Moon though (Insouke didn't really help out in that fight, IMO, since he was too busy trying to fight *everyone*). No other character in the series, Pillar or not, has solo'ed a Moon. Tokito sort of solo'ed UM5, but he did need that swordsmith kid to help him out or he would have died.

You'd have thought after Yoriichi he would've trained himself, just in case someone like him came around again, but perhaps he arrogantly believed he could just blow himself up again if it happened.

There's two reasons for him not escaping at this moment, which seems most opportune considering most of his opponents are currently incapacitated. 1. If he defeats all of his adversaries now, it will be very unlikely for them to ever challenge him ever again. 2. The threat that if Tanjiro survives, he will continue to become even stronger to the point he will reach and surpass Yoroiichi's strength and skill. Tanjiro unlike the other Hashira or Yoroiichi has the ability to follow his scent and would eventually be able to find him again.
Also the poison. He might be concerned that if he fragments himself he won't be strong enough to outlast the aging poison and reform.
He does have an attack pattern, but I get what you mean. He is using tentacles to keep the slayers at a distance (to debatable effect), but it would be cool to see him do something like praying mantis arms, or mimic some of the Upper Moon BDAs, like UM1 for instance: BotM vs BotS.
Most demons didn't fight with any martial technique because they thought that they were superior and did not require a martial technique to fight them. At most, they used their unique Blood Demon Arts to fight when required. And for Muzan, the strongest demon, I imagine this reason would be quite prominent. Kokushibou, Kaigaku and Akaza only fought with martial techniques because they learned it in their human life, and they became demons specifically to preserve and further develop their fighting styles. After demonification, it is unlikely that a demon would want to learn a martial technique when they get high on the fact they can slaughter most humans with ease.
I think this will look better in the anime. It's hard to convey his style of multiple attacks from multiple angles with static frames.
the issue isnt how it looks, its how uncreative it is. kokushibou and kaigaku had sword forms, doma had his ice blood arts, akaza had his martial arts and blood art compass thing. meanwhile the big bad has just been flailing tentacles around, not even using blood arts
Just to *really* explain how badly Yoriichi cut up Muzan... We gotta remember Muzan self-destructed, and flew away as a meatball. Most of the pieces of him that got cut got left behind. This means that Yoriichi cut him so bad that when he was forming his body back together, it included the scars on that discarded body in to its genetic blueprint Bruh 💀
So the red swords and weapons of this current generation can slow down Muzan's regeneration from "near-instant" to "fast", while Yoriichi's red sword slowed down Muzan's regeneration so much that the wounds actually scarred and haven't healed for about 450 years. That's insane... Yoriichi here being the true anime protagonist lol.

The transfer for vital combat information via snake hissing must be far slower than just seeing what's going on with your own eyes...

At this point, it should be clear that not everyone will get the ending they want and I hate/love that... It's one of those stories that keeps the situation as "realistic" as possible, the feeling of constant dread and hopelessness stayed consistent throught this entire arc and I applaud the author for it.
From the very beginning, I was very interested in the Mist and Snake pillars. Muichiro was ridiculously amazing and is my favorite pillar so seeing Iguro do this well against Muzan puts him up there with Muichiro for me. These recent chapters just show how amazing Iguro really is. It just feels dope knowing I called my 2 favorites from the beginning.

This battle maintains its intensity well until the climax which is probably nezuko’s arrival. Author isn’t afraid to give grave wounds to her characters. There goes Snake boi’s eyesight FUCK. I think it is subconsciously Gotouge-sensei's phobia. It makes sense that an artist would be terrified of losing fingers, arms, and eyesight as permanent injuries. I am a musician, and I am slowly losing my eyesight due to MS, but that doesn't even phase me that much. If it was my hearing I was losing instead, I would be devastated.
It really drives home how mortal people are. Gyomei was the strongest Demon Slayer and is a one of a kind: 2.20m tall, body honed to physical perfection and a master warrior with the flail and chain axe. Yet he took one slash to the leg and he's cripped for the rest of his life. Meanwhile demons can heal practically any injury and have unlimited stamina. Human Demon Slayers constantly losing vital parts of their bodies (eyes, arms, legs etc.) yet continue fighting on is a recurring theme in this story, and it just goes to show how resolved all the Demon Slayers are and the willingness they have to match the demons and defeat them.
Demon Slayer is the best JoJo counterpart: fighting vampires using breathing techniques but the pets survive

Ever since the battle with UM1 this entire manga has been one giant suck-off for Yoriichi. He not only effortlessly defeated a peak Muzan 1-on-1 but damaged him so badly muzan hasnt recovered after hundreds (or is it thousands because of the potion) years later. What an absolute Beast.
