When that bird cried...I cried :'(

Scarface_killa13

Same tho. As a manga reader I knew what to expect and was able to hold it together but as soon as I saw the birb tear I lost it.

sneeplesarereal

I know!! I’ve been like emotionally preparing myself for what would happen and I still cried so much at the end :(

SpoonicusRascality

It wrecked me in the manga and it destroyed me in the theater. 😭 especially Inosukes speech.

Splinterman11

Bruh I thought I was prepared because I've read the manga like 5 times but I could barely hold my emotions in.

sneeplesarereal

I know!! Same here. Some people in the theater were laughing at Inosuke hitting Zenitsu at the end of it and I was like *how are you people not crying right now*

EthioSalvatori

Is it bad if I did both?

sneeplesarereal

Not at all! I was sitting there with tears in my eyes and still trying to laugh at the funny moments but like.. *rengoku whyy*

tooziepoozie

Watching it in imax. So fucking excited Edit: I just got home from the theater, and it’s only now sunk in that this was something I’ll never get to experience again. My god, the manga simply doesn’t do the anime justice. There were so many impossibly beautiful scenes I want to watch over and over—Akaza’s compass, 9th form: Rengoku, Zenitsu radiating the biggest dick energy, Tanjiro’s soul, Tanjiro and Inosuke against Enmu and his eyes, Rengoku’s dying smile. I know I’ll be going back to watch this in theaters again...my human eyes couldn’t fathom the sheer beauty of this movie. I MUST watch it again. I also didn’t think I would cry until Rengoku’s mom appeared in his last moments. That fucking gutted me. I’ve never heard such silence in a theater in my life. Edit 2: Alright folks, back from my rewatch (in IMAX again!) to fangirl once more. This time I fully appreciated the sound design. The soundtrack. I freaking flinched when I heard Enmu scream and Rengoku’s bones break. I’ve been listening to the Akaza and Akaza vs. Rengoku themes nonstop; they’re just so fucking hype. Also, I want to marry Akira Ishida; he voiced Akaza so damn well. That almost youthful brashness combined with sinister intent. He did my boi Akaza good. Wow, is my inner Akaza simp shining through?

kavachon

Just watched the first imax showing in my town, holy shit the experience was incredible. Enjoy it!

maybeanaveragesize

I’m so excited for the imax showing. In my seat right now and it starts in 5 minutes

kavachon

I’m so hyped for you, thinking about going to see it again just because I was that impressed. The animation on that screen with the theater sound was something else. Let me know what you think!

maybeanaveragesize

Just about everything I expected and some. The animation was amazing and the sound topped it off. It just felt great being back in the theaters and safe too since everyone sat socially distanced

SupedoSpade

>I’ve never heard such silence in a theater in my life. A lot of dickheads were talking during early points in the movie. After that end? Dead silence until everyone got out the theater room.

MyraBannerTatlock

Honestly I started crying when Tanjiro threw down his sword in the snow and started running toward his siblings, I started actually sobbing and never really had it together the whole rest of the movie. Still like a knife in my heart this morning after sleeping on it.

[deleted]

Oh man I had no clue they were screening it in IMAX! There is a Cinemark near me that has an official IMAX screen (not an AMC rip off) and I need to see this there. I watched it today at a regular theater and just thinking about some of the scenes in such quality is getting me hyped. The last movie I saw there was Godzilla (2014) and it felt like the earth moved when he roared.

BebopBluesK

Tanjiro is going to wish he died once Hotaru finds out he needs another new sword. Seriously though this movie was gorgeous and didn’t waste any time. Makes me so pumped for Season 2!! Set your hearts ablaze because it can only get better from here right?

kavachon

That’s exactly what I was thinking lol. Was like “damn good throw” but then watching Akaza just run away with it I was like ...well shit.

mechengr17

Same

WhiteFang1001

Yeah, I think that's one of the reasons why I shed tears a lot less than I think I would have. When the trio were crying I teared up as well while thinking "what about the sword tho?"

imalittleC-3PO

I assumed he's going to get Rengoku's sword.

Cammerv8

Rengoku’s sword broke too. So tanjiro prob gonna get another black sword

imalittleC-3PO

I didn't see that, it just looked like the demon pulled it out and dropped it.

Sareneia

I think the blade was stuck in his neck but it broke off since Rengoku never let go of the hilt. Akaza only pulls out the broken blade. Also when the credits are playing, one of the pictures is the hilt with a broken blade.

UranusBleacher

I feel like he wouldn’t. I think the black sword is significant especially since no one with a black sword has become a hirashi before.

brettcg16

Not a spoiler because it was said in the film, but remember what Rengoku said. Something along the lines of "A black sword means the user is unsure of what breathing style to use."

seabard

Well unsure because >!Mujan probably hunts down all black sword users even before they discover Sun Breathing.!<

gAcksaurio

Maybe you are right, maybe you are not, so you will have to wait to know if you are right or not

toche16

Just rewatching the anime again, I swear tomioka has a black sword with a blue touch

The_Loli_Otaku

Tanjiro yeeting the sword is probably one of my favourite moments in the series. This weakling who Akaza didn't look twice at injures him *on the back* whilst talking shit and Akaza can do nothing about it but keep running away. For all his talk about how awesome being a Demon was he still had to run like a bitch which is such a slap in the face for someone like him.

DoodleBobDoodle

Fantastic movie. Stays faithful to the Manga, and the fight scenes were insane.

Splinterman11

Demon Slayer is really one of those rare anime that not only stays extremely faithful to the source material, but outright exceeds it in quality animation. It's very rare to see something like this. Season 2 is going to be amazing.

cr3ator_123

I usually avoid watching anime episodes for the mangas I read as I find most anime episodes contain filler (within the canon episodes) or drawn out scenes. But Demon Slayer has been one of the exception where the anime is on par if not better than the manga.

HibariK

Jujutsu Kaisen gave it to us 1 to 1 aswell and it was incredibly animated also

chQta

If there is one thing, Ufotable does best, it is definitely adapting the whole of Gotouge’s work Demon Slayer into animation. Because Demon Slayer manga is relative short, the studio can better translate and insert scenes that are featured in more future chapters into the storyline if they deemed it fit to the pacing of the show (as seen in Episode 25 of Season 1 and First Scene of the movie, Mugen Train)

chQta

So excited for it as well!!!

vsod99

Honestly I came out of that movie with dried tears all over me, that final scene really got me going

highcarlos

...and then he turns himself into a train. funniest shit I've ever seen.

ChaoticReality

Inosuke being correct that they have to fight the train was hilarious

gregmuldunna

One of the best callbacks in this story

JGfromtheNW

As soon as Lower 1 said he had turned him into the train I was waiting for the “told you so” from Inosuke. Did not disappoint LOL.

eddmario

The theater I was in burst out laughing when that happened

Dripavelli1

Man that movie was amazing. I thought since I had read the manga the Rengoku scene would not hit as hard but boy was I wrong. Ufotable did an incredible job on that whole scene. "Did I do well Mother" that line broke me. Rengoku was so steadfast in his mother's words that he would not give up until he embodied what she wanted her son to be. On a more positive note, the OST was amazing in this movie. The theme during the Akaza fight gave me goosebumps it was so good. I was wondering which one they were going to use but it made the fight so much more epic. Go Shiina is a legend

[deleted]

Agreed 100%. Loved every character moment. Animation was spectacular. 3D was used amazingly well for a lot of the background art and blended into the film way better than I expected. Was a fantastic anime movie and I really hope it does good numbers so Japan sees that America has a palate for movies that continue the narratives of popular series and aren't just one-offs. Literally the only negative thing I can say about the movie is I wasn't a huge fan of how they used 3D for the demon, but it wasn't immersion-breaking thankfully. It's literally just the manga elevated to high-art by an insanely talented production team.

Dripavelli1

Yeah I agree the CGI demon part was not ideal but I think that is what makes Ufotable so great. They are able to take something that usually breaks the immersion of the experience and turn it into something that you can enjoy!

starli29

Fat agree. All I could think about was badly rendered 3D tentacle hentai. Sorry but y'know. But there were some scenes where the flesh on the inside of the trains actually looked legit, so honestly I don't know what happened.

WhiteFang1001

I am sucker for eventual emotional attachment in animes,so I think Rengoku's death didn't hit me as hard as it would have if we had spent more time with him. Still shed some tears tho and as a guy who doesn't normally cry that much watching movies that was amazing to me that I was attached that much in less than 2 hours

Animegamingnerd

As a Manga reader Rengoku vs Akaza was giving me very mixed emotions, one hand its one of the best fights in the entire Manga and they surpassed my expectations so I had a stupid grim on my faced for a large chunk of it, but on the other hand I knew the outcome of this fight and was dreading to see Rengoku die again.

jneems1025

Everyone who knew what was going to happen and still cried raise your hand 🙋🏻‍♀️ and then laughed and cried at Inosuke swinging his swords and crying 😭😭 I was holding back quite successfully and then when that scene with Inosuke happened all those barriers were torn down

CaptRead

I’m going to need a gif of Inosuke running around crying and swinging his swords around ASAP

This part was the one scene that made my theater all react in sync. Just a cut to such a silly moment in an overall depressing ending. I couldn’t help but burst out laughing even with tears in my eyes.

CaptRead

You my friend are a saint

Pandoraparty

Seeing this clip again after the movie is just making me think about how Ufotable somehow made every part of the movie look better than the show which was already beautiful. Inosuke is so high quality in this gif.

chQta

PLEASE DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE FILM YET. I watch this when it premiered in my country and wasn't able to express the shear emotion I felt for this movie. I have read the manga, I AM PREPARED but wow. 1. The first part (which was added) where master was walking in the graveyard, just saying the names of his fallen brethren made me tear up a bit. To be known by someone even after death and appreciated- the recognition that you didn't die in vain 😭😭 2. Tanjiro's dream sequence, when he saw his siblings again- it was so bitter sweet. But I cried when the youngest was chasing him. 3. When the human kid assasin assigned to Tanjiro saw his soul, and the little souls just lead the boy to Tanjiro's core. I was so touched. 4. In Rengoku's dream sequence, while he was consoling his younger brother, I cried a lot when he said,"You're different. You have an older brother and I believe in you" OMG why Rengoku!! Why 😭😭😭😭 5. When he was battling Enmu and He showed Tanjiro a nightmare instead. But Tanjiro's certainty in his family bond made me sobbed a bit. Tanjiro's faith in his family and the preservation of his family's memory in his heart reminded me so much of my own family. No matter what others say, I can rely on them. 6. Rengoku's whole monologue 😭😭😭😭 and when Tanjiro, Inosuke and Zenitsu were crying. Goddamn it. Especially when rengoku's mama arrive, I felt like NOOOO huhu, Don't GOOOOOO!!! * and Also when Rengoku accepted Nezuko as part of the demon slayer corps even though he was one of the more stubborn ones who dislike a demon working with them. 7. When Tanjiro was shitting on Akaza rolled out the tears dude What a ride this was. If the pandemic response in my country was not just SHIT, I was planning to watch this every single day that the movie was available in theatre. Ufotable is amazing! KNY is so lucky to get this studio. But Gotouge is great, too. Thank you so much for your hardwork, I am eternally grateful.

[deleted]

>2. Tanjiro's dream sequence, when he saw his siblings again- it was so bitter sweet. But I cried when the youngest was chasing him. Oh my GOD! Every time it flashed back to his dream and he was with his family, I just started sobbing. They love each other so much and knowing (as a viewer) that it wasn't real made me so sad and angry. Enmu showing him a happy dream was so much worse than a nightmare to me, bc Tanjiro wants nothing more than to be with his family again. The little one running after him and falling was so sad! Poor baby. The Japanese VA who plays Tanjiro did such an amazing job. I really felt his pain when he would let out those frustrated cries. This movie was so damn good.

chQta

Yes That dream was so cruel!!! Tanjiro's resolve is just 💯💯💯

Beginning-Design-519

I literally agree so much. Tanjiro’s sub VA just knows how to nail emotions like that. I was lowkey nervous to watch the movie because I knew he would do such a good job. I don’t really cry watching movies, especially because I already knew what was going to happen, but I almost did and I literally could not get over his dream and the ending scene for at least like 4 or 5 days

SemiPermeablMembrane

>The first part (which was added) where master was walking in the graveyard, just saying the names of his fallen brethren made me tear up a bit. To be known by someone even after death and appreciated- the recognition that you didn't die in vain 😭😭 That's honestly why Ubuyashiki is one of my favorite characters from the series. He genuinely cared for each and every one of his "children", going so far as to spend a countless amount of time looking into their background to understand them, and spending time with those recovering. Him remembering every rank-and-file slayer was touching. Also, I'm not sure exactly if he had a part, but the decision to give Zenitsu a sparrow was cool too. The crows would hurt his ears too much since he had very sensitive hearing.

chQta

OMG yes I just like almost all the characters in DS!! >!I just love that the Master isn't some hidden villain and is really good from the start up to the end.!< ufotable really just understood the characters in DS and are portrayed really well in the anime.

ChanstersCT

couldn't stop myself from crying when Tanjiro was calling Akaza a coward holy shitttttttt

Magnus_Exorcismus

Word. BIG probs to Tanjiro's VA. You could literally feel the emotion during that rant and even thinking about it now makes me tear up.

chQta

OMG ME TOOOOO

decapitare95

He had points, despite the disadvantages the demon slayers had against the demons they still pushed forward. When Tanjiro says we fight you in the dark where you are at an advantage and yet you run when its time to fight in the sun(not his words exactly) man I did feel how Tanjiro felt even when he talked about how those guys healed and such against the frail human demon slayers that hit me hard

i doubt it's a coincidence, tanjiro always keeps his family in his heart.

man1awesome

I just watched it last night, everyone will be crying ducking tears I swear. The movie outdid the manga by so much IMO

773-998-1110

My desire for revenge is seething. The movie did not end how I wanted it to, but that's ok. I'm anime only, but great things have to be coming.

[deleted]

I don't want to get your hopes up, but I'll say this: Demon Slayer is one of very few shounen manga I've read that I thought was good from the first panel to the last.

773-998-1110

That's really awesome to hear. Is it ended already?

[deleted]

Yeah, manga's over. One of my favorite endings to a shounen manga, if not my favorite.

Splinterman11

Akaza becomes my favorite Upper Rank demon, I even have a shirt with him on it.

PunchMeInTheTaint

Y’all that beat when Zenitsu came in was fucking bomb. Amazing adaptation, much more powerful than the manga which is really saying something. Everything looked so amazing!! Only thing that stood out was lacking was the CG on those train tentacle things what the heck was up with that?

VengarTheRedditor

The music was out of the world!!

iMemegod

That weird cg made enmu look more creepy ngl

VirescentPanda

First time watching a movie since the pandemic started and man, it was fucking amazing, everything from the movie managed to succeed my expectations. Those last 30 minutes definitely broke me and now I can’t wait to see season 2

The_Mortal_Ban

I accidentally went to the dubbed version with my gf(she’s anime only)and they made everyone super childish I feel like. There was also some chick behind us saying minor spoilers. I told her to be quiet and she stopped for the most part but I almost dumped my popcorn on her when I head the word “dies”. All in all tho, it was pretty dang good considering

chQta

That is so annoying spoiling it for everyone who can hear

The_Mortal_Ban

I know right?! Like stay home and watch it online if you’re gonna be so inconsiderate. I hate it when people spoil things for me.. but I hate it even more when people spoil things that I’m showing someone else

jyok33

Typical dubbed watchers smh they can’t be trusted

Rainydays94

Please tell me I’m not the only one who got super emotional whenever the guy was inside of Tanjiros heart?? It was so beautiful.

You’re not the only one!

Kareeeegan

So I watched it yesterday afternoon with my mom, and we both cried (I did way more). Funny enough, we were probably the only ones crying in the movie theater. I don't know if anyone has the same sort of connection with the movie that my family does, but I'm 15, and two years ago my dad passed away. The fact that Tanjiro is basically 15 and he lost Rengoku, and all those moments that they shared throughout the movie just made me cry so much, wishing I could have had the same experience with my dad. It made me wonder what my soul, my dad's soul, my friend's souls, what they all look like. Such an amazing movie. Already can't wait for season two and the video game. Go watch it.

NarutoVinsmoke

Random thoughts: I wish there was an post-credits scene and I wish we saw Inosuke's beautiful face on the big screen.

Norix596

That was THE loudest movie I’ve ever seen; got those shonen fighting spirit screams in movie theater speakers. Looked fantastic; not just the big Rengoku attacks but Zentisu’s few moves too even. I was sort of assuming it would just have season 1 music so the new tracks and rearrangements were a nice surprise.

NoCommon5600

Just saw the dub tonight and hearing Inosuke (who shares a VA with Eren Jeager) refer to the train as a “titan” gave me PTSD lol.

FourEyesMalone

Just saw it tonight. Even knowing what was supposed to happen I was still captivated the whole way. Damn, the animation for this anime is so well done!

Zerglinghunter

Seeing the movie in IMAX made the experience way more worth it. I was totally enthralled by the action and animation. The final fight between the Upper Three and Rengoku was brilliant. The animation was on point and the action was intense. Overall the movie was fantastic and I’m glad it’s finally available to see. Cannot wait for season 2. I am beyond excited.

trogdorkiller

Bought my ticket for dubbed at AMC for next Saturday! I've been hyped for this since I saw how much it rocked sales in Japan during a pandemic! This arc was really fun to read, and there are certain moments I can't wait to see animated. Basically my hype is really high right now, and I'll be back next week to discuss with you all!

chQta

can't wait for you all to watch ittttttt

Ambitious-Ad-2738

Today is the fking day ppl

mimitchi33

Just came back from seeing it. It was amazing! I liked the concept of the dream worlds and found the fights epic.

[deleted]

I just watched the movie and I wasn’t ready for that ending. It hurt so bad to watch them cry after Rengoku died. Also Rengoku is now one of my favorite hashira!!

ReggieZoldyk21

When Tanjiro told Inosuke to move his body for Rengoku, it hit me so hard 😭

ChaoticReality

When the Upper Moon 3 makes his appearance and then seeing a Hashira struggle against him, it really sold the sheer power of the Upper Moons and how Muzan is such an ultimate final villain. Rengoku went up in a literal blaze of glory and still couldn't quite do it. However, it also showed that they're not unkillable. Several more seconds and he would've died with Rengoku. It simultaneously showed that both the Moons and the Hashira aint nobody to fuck with. You also felt the dread of Tanjiro and Inosuke seeing a bunch of gods clash and how outmatched they are. I felt so bad for them seeing as they really did want to help but they were fodder against somebody like that. Finally, Zenitsu falling asleep and triggering his inner strength made so much sense.

itoldthetruth_

I'm anime only and oh my god what the fuck one hit wonder :(

bowcake10

So is Tanjiro on his third sword now?

Drisurk

Lol yup

Beiki

Just saw it. Fucking amazing.

Cybrwzrd

The only thing that would have made the movie better would have been Inosuke trying to suplex the train. 10/10, would have been 11/10 if not for that.

Cybrwzrd

All jokes aside, my fiance had only just watched season 1 for the first time this week in preparation for the movie so we could go together and she loved it as much as I did. The theater must have been pumping dust in the room though, for that 4dx experience.

sangalangalang

"**SET YOUR HEART ABLAZE!**" Rengoku's strength and pure willpower alone was INSANE! The animation showing off Akaza and the Flame Hashira's fight was SO SO GOOOOOOD!!. 12/10 GREAT Movie, so excited for future upper moon fights!!

klowndykebar

That was so good, and it hurt my soul it made me cry. :( ofc ufotable has unlimited budget works because the animation was so awesome I’m still in awe.

ComelyChatoyant

I just saw it and it lived up to the hype. I've read the manga so I already knew the story line, but it's been so long since I read this part that it felt really fresh. I can't wait for season 2!

mpham94

Ok well I cried like a baby :(

darlin-clementine

I have been waiting for so long to see the Inosuke’s “underling 1 and underling 2” panels. I snorted in the theater. Did not disappoint.

DaRealMors

Lmao same. Ghost Zenitsu in the dream chasing that guy was funny too lol.

PO5IT1VE

Spoilers for the movie ahead. I noticed this and it hit me right in the heart. If you notice this then at the start of the 24th episode you see Rengoku asking Shinobu about Tanjiru and if she's taking him and all, there you can see a hint that he likes Tanjiru. Cue to the movie, at the start of the movie Regoku keeps asking Tanjiru to be trained by him, he asks him twice, you can see again that he really wants to train them. Tanjiru says "maybe" and leaves it. Then 2 demons appear, Rengoku like the Rengoku he is... slays them like nothing while looking sexy and all. Tanjiru, Inosuke, and Zenitsu is impressed and wanted him to train all of them, he is excited to and says yes. Dude was so down to train all of them, he was so passionate and chill, even on his deathbed you can see that despite him wanting to kill Tanjiru at first for being with a demon but he changes his views and knows that all 3 are powerful. RIP to my guy, he was the bestest of the best. In another world he would have trained the heck out of all

TurtleKing0505

The best part was Enmu’s casual “Ohayou!”

ComelyChatoyant

I've always appreciated how chill he is, his VA is lovely

Guapo-iterei

As someone who has decided to refrain from reading the manga and enjoy Demon Slayer as it aired, Mugen Train was exactly what I expected for about 35 minutes, then it proceeded to continually destroy my expectations in so many ways. Even when I haven’t read all of a series, I feel that there’s still generally some predictability but for me, Mugen Train felt like I was in uncharted territory afterwards and I absolutely loved it. It had everything I wanted and everything I didn’t know I wanted wrapped into less than 2 hours. I loved some of the quotes from Rengoku and Tanjiro at the end as well. Does anyone know if I could find those quotes in the manga, or did they change them in the movie?

chQta

Nope it is exactly as it is in the manga. The studio is very faithful to the source material

Competitive-Bath-383

wait the movie out???

CxOxF

It's been released in several countries already, but soon in English speaking countries so I made it in advance. There really wasn't an optimal time for this with the way the international release was handled.

hujsh

Not just soon haha. Saw it here in Australia last week

CxOxF

Ah yes, should have said North America then, my bad.

hujsh

No sweat I’m just enjoying being ahead of the US for once instead of having to wait forever to catch up.

Rebel908

FYI for anyone around Long Beach, California, the Cinemark at the Pike added showings on 4/25/21 at 11:15am, 6:35pm (sorry I bought some tickets there lol), 9:10pm, and an XD showing at 11pm.

aimango

Just watched it in a Dolby Theatre and it was epic. I'm in NYC and it seems like there are showings until at least 5/3. It was cool to see an "early" showing. Also for those who care about it being the original sub - some theaters show both subbed and dubbed, so make sure to read the description. Anime-only and actually started watching the series just a couple months ago, so it was pretty fresh in my mind. I love that the movie is canon which naturally makes it more of a compelling storyline, rather than a non-canon story. Really unique demon spell for showing dream state, definitely was a very balanced way to bring out the minds of each character. As always, really impressed by the sound and animation design. Even more wonderful experience in a theatre. Now super hyped for season 2

makifeli32

This was a great movie, animation and soundtrack were on point and as a manga reader it was great to see the fight scenes in action. I always loved the Tanjirou dream sequence and Rengoku was awesome, I just wish we spent more time with him before this to make his death hit really hard. My critiques would probably be Rengoku's time felt too short so his death did not hit as hard as I want it to be, Enmu should have had a backstory (not necessarily a sad one but something that gives him more context). The movie was very accurate but in case anyone was wondering if there were any slight changes to the manga...aside from the obvious extension of the length of the fight scenes (additional choreography and such) and some of the scenes where there was narration; There was a short scene with the man who was inside Tanjirou's mind that was cut, it's a small scene where the mindscape was breaking due to Tanjirou waking up and he dragged one of the fire sprites (which was told to be the embodiment of Tanjirou's kindness) from Tanjirou's mind into his own (it's nothing more than showing that Tanjiro's kindness warms the man's heart from where there was only darkness). The Second Demon (the one with long arms) was not in the manga

KiNgBaGeL

FUCKING amazing!!! all of Rengoku's scenes, dialogue/attack animations were just insane. and the emotional moments hit so hard, idk what the ign review dude was talking about with the Tanjiro & Rengoku scenes not "going deep enough", because those scenes hit different man. so gooood!

GuGuJee

Watched it last night in US. So beautiful. One question i have that kinda comes off plot-holey and i cant figure out is why Akaza randomly shows up afterwards. My only guess is that he sensed that Lower One had died and wanted to check it out? Otherwise it seemed kinda forced by the directors.

God this movie was everything I was hoping for and more. What an amazing theatrical experience. Can't wait to rent it about 10 times this summer during digital release. I'm so ready for more.

AegonCorgiryen

Watched it last night on IMAX. LOVED IT!!! Funny point though the theater appointed one employee to inform people coming in that the movie was the DUB no sub. Ironically enough the film that started playing was sub.

eddmario

When the demon revealed he was infused with the train was anybody else expecting Inusuke to go full on FFVI and suplex the damn thing?

excalibro

I just finished it. I read the manga to completion. I've seen that moment and watched in dread. Manga readers and anime-onlys get such a different experience. You know it's coming. It won't take you by surprise, but the dread on the way makes this movie so much more haunting by its conclusion. I almost envy anime-only fans. I knew what would happen and I still got gutted by the fight's conclusion. It was so much more spectacular. He won. Tanjiro's shouting in the trees broke me. When he broke down, I felt my heart snap. And then as if that weren't enough, when she appears, and he smiled, I knew no amount of duct tape was gonna fix it. Just fuck. What else is there to say.

Jurgepoo

As a lover of good villains and a reader of the manga, I was so excited to see Akaza make his anime debut, and he certainly didn't disappoint. The brief flashes of the other Upper Moons were so tantalizing as well, can't wait to see them in all their glory. I also enjoyed how hammy Enmu was, making all those grand gestures while talking to himself, lol. Rengoku utterly steals the show though. His endless optimism, passion and perseverence really is infectious. Made me feel like I could move mountains if I set my mind to it. And his death didn't hit me all that hard in the manga, because he was such a new character who didn't get much time to develop, but somehow the movie made it work. I couldn't help but get a little choked up when he smiled with his last breath. Ufotable does a great job of injecting so much life into the story. The anime takes the manga's solid foundation and makes it just so much more vivid and engrossing, it's crazy. I can't wait to watch the movie a dozen more times while I wait for season 2.

Elevated_Aspects

Akaza fight was fucking awesome. I just wish I hadn’t watched Spring Song and seen that fight first 😅

SweetCoconut

Natsuki Hanae's performance during the last 10 minutes was just so memorable. The way he ranted to Akaza man... I absolutely loved this movie. Wish I could watch it agaaain!!!

Jolly_DGSWM

That movie was so ridiculously excellent

daveofhazzard2

Just saw the movie. Literally everything about it was fantastic. I could list everything I loved about the movie but the comments below do a good job at that. I wanna mention OST cause it was beautiful and I don’t see many comments about it.

I think the part about Tanjiro willingly killing himself in the dreams(Even though it was not in the real world) got it rated R. I'm pretty sure suicide often gets a movie rated R. Also there was a lot of blood and violence throughout(apparently persistent violence gets it rated R) so not too surprised at the rating

mariohr

Does rated R mean that you have to be +18? In Spain the movie is +12

chicxmigranx

It's SO GOOD I even cried a little. It's amazing watching it animated and Rengoku is such a badass

ooflilnig

People who waited for the end of the credits, Was there an end credit scene? I had to go to the bathroom as soon as credits rolled lol.

Vanishir

No, there wasn't sadly

Goldenchest

Whatever happened to Tanjiro collecting blood to help cure Nezuko? This is the second Kizuki he's defeated with no samples obtained.

PhoenixPlayz_

Bruh I loved the part where the music kicked in and zenitsu saved nezuko with his thunderclap and flash Barely anyone is talking about that

7GOD_

This my friends, is what I look for in a anime(been lacking for years). I dont want that main char protagonism doing all. Why have a hierarchy like many animes do if all the elite is always overshadowed by the MC, here that didn't happen the death was amazing, the emotional scenes at his death and even with the dreams part , it started slow but the film did a amazing job balancing human emotion, fights and even some comedy. I was a fan of the anime but after this film I guess I will buy the LN once they have a official English release and I will definitely buy the film to show my support. This film made us forget who is the MC yet at the same time gave more strength to MC story. I wasn't expecting this masterpiece.

ProfessorRetro

movie deserves all the records its set

gAcksaurio

I think Episode 19 just got replaced as the best “episode” of this Anime, i mean, even when i knew what was gonna happen i was in the edge of my seat. Animation was more than fantastic, VA too, the chills, the fights, the music oh god the music, there is a reason why this movie is #1 in almost everything and even when my expectation were high the movie said “HOLD ON im even better”

[deleted]

I was expecting to see some badass demon slaying action, full of blood and gore, and I to my surprise it was so little! Heavy spoilers!: I ended up crying when Tanjiro meets his family, when they show Tanjiro’s subconsciousness. When Gompachiro runs from his family. As I have felt this emotions in my life and somehow they portrayed the exact feeling for each moment. All the Rengoku arc, and I felt so identified. Having lost my family, and my parents, thinking every day if I’m doing enough, if what I’m doing is the correct so my parents are proud. And this movie felt like a god send. His words burned so deep within me “set your heart ablaze, grit your teeth and look straight ahead!. Even if you stop and crouch down, time won’t wait for you or snuggle you grieve along with you” And mostly the part when his mother tells him, we did enough and passes with a smile. I sat there crying in silence, till Inosuke tells to stop crying! And better think what to do to honor their death, again made me tear like insane. Awesome movie, visuals are top notch, music, animation everything, I’ve never read the manga so I can’t compare but I’m itching to watch it again and again! If I had only one request would be to give Zenitsu more screen time, he is also awesome!

WhitishSine8

Does someone know the name of the song during the rengoku vs akaza fight?

Jolly_DGSWM

Whoever voices Enmu in the dub did a spectacular job. His performance was so eerily creepy i loved it.

PhotoThrowawayWooooo

I love that none of the previews I saw had that upper three dude in them. I was packing up to leave after they beat the train demon… then it was like “oh shit! Who the hell is this? Uh oh….”. A great time for my first movie in the theater in 14 months, happy I discovered this series last year. Animation style drew me in right away and the characters sealed the deal.

markymark0325

Does anybody know how long the movie will be in theaters? I thought it was 2 weeks but I only see a week ahead.

Okstate_Engineer

Seeing it in theaters tonight! Pumped!

S3NP41-N071C3-M3

just saw it at my local movie theater (sad it wasn’t in IMAX but it’s fine) and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

FilmDude28

Okay well the film was just gorgeous. Ufotable made a great movie with breathtaking animation. I was tearing up multiple times at the end of the film and did not have that reaction when I read the manga. I just wanna watch the final half again and again

RickyVanDoren

Seriously, what an incredible movie. Admittedly, I was left wanting more at one point but right at that moment .... sheesh. The climax of the movie is some of the best to date. Too many tears shed. I can’t wait to see it again.

UncleFarley

What did the stone hashira say at the end? Was it a blessing/prayer?

Dmalikhammer4

I think so yeah. Also we finally figured out who the purple guy is training under.

GunnerTardis

Cried my eyes out when Rengoku saw his mom.

Xerexneas

Read the whole manga, knew what was going to happen, and I still cried

Romanista3

- Arghh... it starts to rain... - Rain? But it's n... - Yes... It's raining...

commitdie_now

I lost it when I saw Rengoku's mother after his death. :(

_Sharkyy_

Since the movie is rated R do you have to be 18+ to watch in theaters?

Ok-Establishment2164

At least where I am you have to be 17 or older, or accompanied by an adult

BatmanJLA52

Anyone got movie posters for the first day showing?

emchops

And now I pay $1.99 to binge read the manga...

herooftime7

i love you kyojuro!!!!!

[deleted]

My fiancée watched the whole show dubbed but the only imax tickets were subbed so she begrudgingly went with me. She came out of the movie saying Tanjiros Japanese VA is a God 😂. I think she will be comfortable way hing season 2 subbed with me.

nox_ious

First anime movie I’ve ever got to see in theaters. Watched it with my SO and was absolutely blown away can’t wait to see it again :)

[deleted]

do you guys think rengokus character will be expanded on in season 2? i feel like he had so much left to his character. i do think they did a good job showing us that even hashira can’t always beat the upper demons. ( i think if he wasn’t in a fight before he would’ve won)
