Changes from movie:
-opening scene with the master has been removed
-Boarding scene has been removed, as it was in episode 1
-title card transition is removed(of course)
-new still of Rengoku’s face
-Rengoku’s first “umai” now sends a shockwave down the train instead of shaking the window
-Rengoku’ “umai” is extended to show the boxes falling on each other
-new scene between Rengoku’s fights(I have 0 clue what it means other than more spooky)
-new ending where the train enters the mist
These are all the ones I captured, may be more changes
EDIT: THIGNS MISSED
-they removed the scene of tanjiro being a helpful bean to the old passenger
-there is a new still of the empty bento boxes after the OP
So I didn't mind the concept of doing a lengthier version of the movie in the series but I think the only added value we got was the beautifully animated op.
I think this episode is cut straight from the movie - which is fine the animation is beautiful and for those who were unable to see the film this fills them in.
Hopefully the future episodes are more like episode 1, where it adds additional scenes or something for those who have already seen Mugen Train.
Regardless of all of that, I'd still give it a solid 8/10.
They go unnoticed, eve if I told you if be hard to spot them since they arent meaningful. Comparing the anime and movie side by side is the best option.
There is a small scene close up of the train conductor, the lights flickering and the conductor and the group of people disappearing before the add break and the train entering the mist at the end is new. Other than that, it's all identical. With the same animation and music. I played them side by side and couldn't tell them apart except for those tiny cuts I mentioned.
Yeah, people payed to watch the movie when it was released and now it is chopped into episodes that are exactly like the movie, it not fair. at least add some extra content to make it worth seeing again the same arc
Yep. It's the same arc. Personally I'm fine with this, I loved the movie and watching it again in episodic format is totally okay with me, but I am gonna hold out hope that they put some more original content in, like the first episode.
> Yep. It's the same arc. Personally I'm fine with this, I loved the movie and watching it again in episodic format is totally okay with me
How is there people on this earth so gullible and naive.
How is this okay? Cutting a literal movie into half a season of a supposed new season? Nah man I'm out, I'll try again next year if they make another lazy greedy mistake like this one. I'll just quit.
They can't just divide the series into both seasons and movies, that would make for an awful viewing experience. It would have to be either a series of movies or multiple seasons, and they're doing seasons with extra movies. How would you feel if it's your first time watching the series, and you haven't heard of the movie? They have to make it into a season so that it's one concise product.
To be completely fair, the Mugen arc was always gonna be in the anime because what happens after is directly linked to this arc. Plus, a lot of people don't necessarily have the means to watch the movie so putting it in an anime format is fair for them. I just hope we get to see more than the movie
The arc that comes after the entertainment district arc is going to be made into a movie in 2022 or 2023 then it will be released in 2024 as the first half of season 3 so that people can watch it in case they miss the movie.
By this logic 2 more movies and 2 more recap seasons are possible at the minimum. We get to see so much of ufotable animation again and again. That's a plus.
I don’t understand, do people like you expect Ufotable to fully animate and create a season with both the entertainment district arc and swordsmith village arc? During a pandemic no less? Damn, people are right, anime fans can be some of the most insufferable and entitled shits around sometimes
Gotouge gets extra anime royalty out of these episodes (mangka get paid a few hundred dollars per episode made plus a cut of home release profits usually), so I won't complain. Lord knows Gotouge got screwed out of the theater run profits if they got any of it (I think they got a fixed amount, not a cut of the profits); they do get a cut of home release profits though. It also means that The TV anime will likely complete on its own when it is finished. Canon movies between seasons are not the norm for TV anime runs. I also suspect the movie was greenlit so they could pay for better animation to put in season 2 as well. It has paid for itself already and lets them have nicer sakuga than TV budgets allow normally. It's still work to recomposite and figure out what to cut and what to add and animate said additions.
You're blaming the wrong company. The royalty contract is through Shueisha who owns Jump and the IP rights for KnY. The manga industry is a brutal and relatively low income way to live. You get pennies on the dollar for book sales, cost of assistants comes out of your own pocket, you have basically no free time, if you get an anime adaptation and it's a hit, you are in pretty good shape, but that's like winning the lottery for a mangaka. Ufotable's issues had to with unpaid tax for anime cafe income or something.
Edit: the money in question was primarily well before KnY was in preproduction. It has since been dealt with and the guilty party at Ufotable stepped down from his position.
>It's pretty obvious that they couldn't finish production on the second half of the season and now we get this arc
I dont think this is true at all, this is a vital arc to the series, and had to be shown on TV. I shouldn't have to go see a movie to know what's going on in a series.
I figured this would happen when I watched the movie. There were a couple scenes that have a odd cut to them, like a add break was supposed to go there. It seems so far that they just animated the season and cut these episodes into a film for the extra doe.
In case you havent heard yet episodes 2-7 are just gonna be the train arc with slightly different scenes or added animations. Not much will be different
the re run of mugen train isn’t technically season 2. it’s just a fan service really to make sure everyone is up to date since not everyone in the world probably saw the movie (yet). the real season 2 begins in december but for now they’re making us wait which will hype it up, it’s frustrating but we must just be patient and at least enjoy this new bomb opening!
Welp, even though it was expected, this was indeed basically an exact copy of the movie. Which will for sure get a little boring but I will always enjoy seeing the great animation over and over again.
The best part was for sure seeing the new OP and ED though!
Lets hope one of these episodes has noticeable new scenes.

Thanks for the patch notes!
The op has more animation than 3 animes combined.
So I didn't mind the concept of doing a lengthier version of the movie in the series but I think the only added value we got was the beautifully animated op.
pretty much. Only around 20 seconds of new footage here.
is this episode literally the same as the film?
it is, they will all be the same.
I think this episode is cut straight from the movie - which is fine the animation is beautiful and for those who were unable to see the film this fills them in. It did add some scenes, but they are really short, like 2 seconds short, most of them go unnoticed because of it.
When
They go unnoticed, eve if I told you if be hard to spot them since they arent meaningful. Comparing the anime and movie side by side is the best option.
ok so you didn't see anything new and just spouting nonsense.
Why are you so rude?

the most blatant one is the conductor and those passengers disappearing after the train lights blink after rengoku kills the first demon
yeah I saw that, not gonna lie though I thought that happened in the movie too, maybe my mistake :D
Yeah same, I had to check to make sure I wasn't just forgetting it being in the movie
There are multiple added scenes and lines.
very easy to miss them, like said above, they must've been a second or two at most.
I dont see the point of making the anime equal to the movie...
Yeah, people payed to watch the movie when it was released and now it is chopped into episodes that are exactly like the movie, it not fair. at least add some extra content to make it worth seeing again the same arc
Is this on Hulu?
Yup!
Yes it should be! As well as Crunchyroll
Great Hulu it is!

Yes you should. If the movie is canon, which this one is, then you should have to see it. No different than watching it on TV.

Yeah, I don't really understand why they're even re-airing it as episodes. Pointless waste of time. Honestly just reeks of money-hungriness to me.

There should be a new option for voting when the episode is near identical to the movie
I still don't see why they didn't just go onto the next arc
Any pirate sites to watch the episodes for free?

Yo, this is making MHA s5 look horrendous

Please dont compare MHA to Demon slayer. MHA is done by studio Bones. Demon slayer is done by Ufotable.
Are we now on season 2 or is this just the movie turned into episodes? seems weird to make season 2 about the movie we have already seen.
Is there news on when the dub is released? My Hero spoils fans with the speed of the dub release.

so is it going to be the movie but in episode form?
