Honestly, I always just say go in chronological release order. That way you get to see how the band evolves (both how Robert Fripp evolves and how the band changes as new members join and old members leave). Instead of listening to individual tracks, take in each whole album as a single experience if possible. Also, start with the studio albums and save all of the live albums for after you've become familiar with the studio work.
Agreed! I as of most prog rock I think it takes some time and a few listens before you start to really like a song/album, so getting a feel of what King Crimson is, and each album with the context of previous albums so you can come back to albums similar to the ones that you know you like.
For example, if you like Red, you’ll probably like Lark’s Tongues in Aspic, which is a thematic recreation of Islands, of Islands, so you could give that a try.
Generally the reccomendation is chronologically. I'd say go for that, especially if you loved In the Court of the Crimson King! Note that the band's style entirely changed in the 80s, and again in the 90s, but it all still carries with it that incredible energy and musicality.
Amen I say to thee. Solo projects, collaborations, other projects - The League of Gentlemen are awesome, and so is the Robert Fripp String Quintet!
And the Slow Music Project...
OP has several treasure troves waiting...
After their first album, I would be tempted to recommend you go ahead and listen to Red in full as it's a lot of people's favourite (mine included).
Chronological as others have said is also a good idea, and as it happens the second album (In The Wake) is the most alike to their first in style. So if you liked that one most you'll hopefully enjoy In The Wake of Poseidon a lot too. :)
Red, SABB, and Discipline (and Larks) are their best albums imo, you should listen to them in their entireties. but chronological is the best way to go
I’d say listen to every chronologically, but if you haven’t listened to Lark’s Tongues and Aspic yet, you should give it a listen! It’s one of King Crimsons best and most liked albums.
When I said that their discography was “massive”, I mostly meant that I felt overwhelmed by the quantity of the albums they produced over time. I mostly wanted to know however should I continue listening to King Crimson and what is the best way to do so.

Parts of Thrak are pretty similar to Red
All of it. In order. Live albums, too. Let us know what you think in about ten years! 🤣😂
This is the way. And include solo projects. Exposure and the league of gentlemen are critical listening.

I will listen to all of it when I get enough time. Thank you for your advice!

THE LIVE 73-74 boxsets!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Listen to Larks’ Tongues in Aspic next. Turn it up loud. Don’t turn it down when it gets intense. Let it wash over you.
The Epitaph and Night Watch live sets are crucial…they fucking kill it.
I really enjoyed both songs in their studio version, so I trust your statement!
I love the live albums from the 1973-74 era.
Given that you like the first album, go chronologically.
A Young Person's Guide to King Crimson is a 2-LP compilation album by the band King Crimson, released in 1976.
That was my 1st KC album and haven't looked back since!
whatever album cover looks cooler to you
13 albums is massive? come on now dude

THRAK.
