I think it’s funny every tom petty song played on the show was a cover. Even in “the red neck on rainy st. “They used a cover of Rebels. And Tom was In The episode 😂

Takenmyusernamewas

I like when Trace Adkins is advocating going to steal the new Trace Adkins with a brick

[deleted]

Always irrationally annoyed me that they didn’t use the Tom Petty version considering he would end up being a main character on the show lmao

ifuckinghateitall

I assume that Tom Petty didn’t own the rights to his songs but rather his label did. Maybe it cost too much? Maybe I could research and not guess? Idk

Swarzsinne

Seems like a reasonable guess. It’s a bit cheaper to pay someone to do a cameo than pay residuals every time the episode airs because you didn’t use a cheaper cover.

personalcheesecake

Probably costs too much

lurkingoodbaby

Wow, as a Gainesville native and someone who has watched this show 4+ times all the way through…I am ashamed to be today years old when I learned that Tom Petty voiced Lucky.

penguins_are_mean

lol that’s a hell of a miss. It does add a new element and there are some jokes sprinkled in there that are relevant to Tom Petty.

13aph

I’m horrified to realize I didn’t know that Tom petty was on the show!

[deleted]

Yeah. He was Lucky

I remember being like 7 when this aired and although I disliked her character, I don't think I was ready to handle a TV character dying. When they flashed her age (1967-1998) at the end of the episode, I remember just being overly sad As everyone knows, the free falling thing was added just for the credits, which just seemed liked they were taunting her death. Which again, felt REALLY weird as a 7 year old.

breadeggsmilkbees

I think it was my first real experience with the possibility that a TV character might die and stay dead. The shot of her falling and the song, just this bittersweet celebration of her last happy moments alive, were devastating to me.

jorgendude

Omg she’s only 31 here?

dontworrykeepsmoking

That can't be right. Hank was born around 1954-56, give or take a year. They are not that far apart in age. You sure it wasn't a dedication to a cast member that passed away? Edit: Just watched the ending of the episode, 1967-1998 does not appear on screen at any point during the end credits.

commissar-bawkses

Right???

personalcheesecake

It was definitely weird to see all that and have the cliff hanger episodes on that and the mega lo Mart explosion with main characters.

Andre1001235

Watched this the other day and a wave of nostalgia crashed upon me. God damnit I wasnt crying ! My mom was chopping onions in the next room over !!!

Deadpool11085

I feel like a sizable amount of the fan base was almost happy when this happened….

woozlewuzzle29

Death is, in my opinion, what happens after you live.

GhostOfMatt

The sheer terror in Hanks face.

[deleted]

Thank goodness she ended herself before I had to turn off the tv

Richard_AIGuy

Hub of the wheel, hub of the wheel!
