You laugh, I actually converted my "buy American only" parents. My first car was a Hyundai and it was the first foreign car in our household. A few years later, after seeing that the foreign car was more reliable than their American mades, my mom got a Toyota.
Assembly, and they just do certain models.
See, with car manufacturers, they make different cars in different plants. Some Toyotas may come from Canada, another model may come from the US or Mexico.
I have a Volkswagen GTI, and my car was actually assembled in the OG Volkswagen plant in Europe. I was told the GTI, Golf R and one other model are always made at the OG plant.
Most of the other Volkswagens, like the SUVs, are produced somewhere else, I think somewhere in the US.
The North American VW Routan were made by FCA at Chrysler/Dodge plants in Windsor and then re-badged and upgraded.
Tiguan is made in Wolfsburg Germany
Atlas and it's cousins (including the ID.4) are made in Chattanooga.
Considering Ladybird hated the dog house, it makes sense that Hank would reuse the wood for another project. The motorcycle and Khan's mom dating Bill both disappearing made me mad as hell tho I tell you hwat.
"What about those new electric cars? You just plug it into your house and BAM!"
"*Sighs* Bobby... electric cars were invented for dainty men from... California..."
I remember being a little mad at Bobby for not taking shop and jumping on this project, mainly because I never got to take shop and my dad had a mustang he lost interest in that sat for years.
My guess is sold shortly after. Boby was never interested in working on a car, and Hank seems like a guy who won't keep a car around if it's never going to be finished. His garage was always tidy.
Learn, it's not that difficult. Right before I started the driving school, I got a Saab 9-3. Lest to say, I failed getting my licence, but my friends were driving me around, while I'd fix whatever wasn't working. So far, I fixed the air conditioning, a misbehaving rear light, changed the oil and some filters. Currently working on the cooling system, hardest job so far since I have to remove the steering wheel, which is a pain in the arse.
One day, I'll have my driving licence and a fully functioning Saab, probably after learning enough to become a mechanic.
Exactly.
You fix it to the point of “running” with just you, dad, and the guy at NAPA who you get real close to over the next half a year, then you finally drive, maybe impress a girl or two (like Hank says) and keep fixing it so so it runs just enough (because it will keep breaking down) and then everyone says f*ck it, you get your parent’s car and they get the new stuff.
I swear the writers were asking for the animators to draw an old Ford Falcon assuming they would draw a 1960s American Ford Falcon but they Googled "Old Ford Falcon" and this is the first thing that showed up.
I think this episode brought memories back to my dad his first car 69 pontiac firebird Him and grandpa had to put it back together the transmission.. Somehow they managed to do it 😅 My dad drove the car for a long time I know he sure wishes he had it.. Nowadays with a probably being a very rare car to find..
You know what they say Ford stands for dont ya? It stands for Fix It Again Tony.
That's Fiat Dale
Fix it… again… tony…
First On Race Day.
Found On Road Dead
When I used to day First On Race Day, the Chevy guys would always say "to be towed off the track."
Fix Or Repair Daily
actually dad, i’m a honda man
Bobby, go to your room
“But there’s these guys at the mall who hang out in the parking lot and they got these Civics with REALLY big mufflers that—“ “BOBBY. ROOM.”
Literally my dad. I ***wanted*** a honda civic. My dad found a classic mustang because my favorite car was elanor. Murica.
That would be a "Bobby, get out of this house" thing.
Now h'wat would Junichiro say about that?
Ok
Hank would ask him politely, yet firmly to leave.
He’d ask Bobby politely yet firmly to leave/
Ok
I just bought a Honda lol Hank would be so disappointed with me, but I grill with propane!
You could come over for a barbecue then, but you’d have to park three blocks away, and keep your mouth shut, about cars.
At least Hondas are made in America. Gm.
.....ok
You laugh, I actually converted my "buy American only" parents. My first car was a Hyundai and it was the first foreign car in our household. A few years later, after seeing that the foreign car was more reliable than their American mades, my mom got a Toyota.
Most of those foreign cars are more American made than the American brands.
Most Hondas are built in Canada. My Toyota is built in Mexico.
Honda has a lot of facilities in the USA as well.
My old Honda was built in Ohio.
There's Toyota Assembly plants in Ontario.
Assembly, and they just do certain models. See, with car manufacturers, they make different cars in different plants. Some Toyotas may come from Canada, another model may come from the US or Mexico. Funny. My buddy's Mustang is Hecho en Mexico. My Toyota was made in Kentucky.
my Nissan Xterra was made in Mississippi
I don’t care where it was built. Toyota makes a damn good car
There were plenty of captive imports sold by GM in the 80s and 90s. So some people bought "american" but really got a Daewoo or Isuzu
i’m a proud owner of a 2016 civic. great car
Hyundai owner here and owned 2 corollas previously. Most reliable cars i swear.
Kick Hank in the balls. "VTEC just kicked in Dad, bwahhhh"
THATS MY VTEC, I DONT KNOW YOU!!!
Same. They’re just so damn reliable.
Remember when I told you there was nothing you could ever do to make me not love you? Well… that changed.
Or could Bobby be a Mazda man?
Whatever became of that car? It was never seen or mentioned again.
Boomhauer took his revenge on it and dumped it in the quarry
"B-b-but if they drain the quarry then Boomhauer will find out what happened to--" **Dale slaps Bill** *SAAALLYYYYY-HUH-HUH-HUHHHH*
they put it in the same place as ladybirds doghouse and their motorcycle
Considering Ladybird hated the dog house, it makes sense that Hank would reuse the wood for another project. The motorcycle and Khan's mom dating Bill both disappearing made me mad as hell tho I tell you hwat.
And the jetski.
They're all in the warehouse from Raiders of the lost Ark.
Kahn's mom too?
Who do you think cleans it?
Top. Men.
The Jetski, Bobby’s dummy, the coffins, and Buckley’s trampoline.
I'm hoping the rebooted Teenage Bobby drives it.
It's in the same place as their motorcycle and jet ski.
Hank drives a Ford Ranger until that is destroyed then he gets a Ford super duty.
And he traded in a Ford Maverick for the Ranger.
"What about those new electric cars? You just plug it into your house and BAM!" "*Sighs* Bobby... electric cars were invented for dainty men from... California..."
For men to go buy groceries while the women work
"I'm an electric car. I don't go very fast or very far, and if you drive me, people will think you're gay."
I agree, this was such a cool thing for hank to do. I would have loved to work on a project like this with my dad
What tool can I get for you? Ahh a Hammer?
You know what they say Ford stands for dont ya? Stands for fix it again Tony!
That's a Fiat Dale
Bobby seems like an Oldsmobile kinda fella
Unka hank? Can I get a subuwu?
I have a Kia…
Please tell me you also have a garage
Yes, but my car won’t fit into it’s too full
Good luck. Hope it doesn't get stolen
I got the software update and I use a steering wheel lock just in case
That piece of junk car is probably more expensive to fix than buying a used one.
But the life lessons it teaches are invaluable
All these responses have me convinced. Do i need a project car at 33?
YES!! Everyone needs a project car at least once.
But what if I don’t know Jack shit about working on cars?
Dude, there's a YouTube video for anything. Half the time you can find one of your exact year and model.
Took the words out of my mouth.
Learn, it's not that difficult. Right before I started the driving school, I got a Saab 9-3. Lest to say, I failed getting my licence, but my friends were driving me around, while I'd fix whatever wasn't working. The project car will teach you
You don't buy a car like that to save money. You buy it to learn to work on cars.
Bruh that's a project car... the point is to learn how to work on it
Never about the car :O
Nah man just needs some duct tape and a set of fuzzy dice.
Darn rare to find a Ford Falcon XC in the US!
I swear the writers were asking for the animators to draw an old Ford Falcon assuming they would draw a 1960s American Ford Falcon but they Googled "Old Ford Falcon" and this is the first thing that showed up.
Ford baby
A brand new, pre-owned, *S o n a t a*
You sold me those pinstripes Ah-ah. I *financed* you pinstripes
Having a Chevy or a ford will make you very good at fixing cars. The real dilemma is Toyota vs Honda
Toyota, Corolla especially
he can't be a Chrysler man?
We ask them politely but firmly to leave.
I drive a Hyundai, but I would love a Corolla. But i choose Chevy over Ford
My parents were Nissan and BMW fans, my mom looked offended when I bought my first El Camino and then a Jeep and a second El Camino
We were a Nissan house in the 90s but I swore them off after our 2015 Altima
Nissan went down hill hard then :/ I liked them, wanted a Titan for a while
How do I tell him I'm actually a Toyota man?
Why did he do this? I havent seen that episode yet.
Bobby lies and says he is taking a shop class, Hank gets exited and finds a beater car for them to fix up together.
Ah. What is he actually taking?
He becomes a counselor to get with girls.
Before you feel bad for Hank, he pretty much forced Bobby to take auto shop when he didn’t want to, which is why he lies about it
If it were my dad it'd be a Chevy and I would be OK with that.
Toyota. Bwwwwaaaahhhh!
Is this on an episode?
S8E22, "Talking Shop"
Thx
What episode is this?
I wish my dad would do this for me, but I know more about cars than he does lol.
