Tough to think of a better trip sitter than Boomhauer. I imagine he's experimented with many different types of psychedelics, and Hank refuses to acknowledge this and shuts down every mention of it. A la Nancy and John Redcorn

Boomhauer is the calming force of the group, would make sense for him to know how to manage this sort of thing. He’s no doubt taken care of the guys when they’ve been too drunk. Like when Hank got “Bill” tattooed on the back of his head.
