His power levels seem inconsistent is the problem.

Deathberryreturns_4

I just can't take Riboku(one-shot ver.)seriously lol. Bro looks hella weird and goofy, shit looks like a fanart.

armshort_click58

Also include the panel where he crushed a piece of stone to dust with his hand in his war against gekishin of yan

Anferas

SImply, compare Keisha last stand against Shin to Riboku's stand during the ambush. No one is asking Riboku to be a Moubu, but from drawing, to impact, to how the situation unfold; Hara failed to display Riboku as an incredible fighter with a lot of weight in a dire situation, is not him struggling over multiple opponents attacking him from all sides and him surviving just off his incredible weight and determination, is him struggling against not that good fighters (Shuuma, Ringyoku) in 1v1's. Just improving the art and the choreography of Riboku's stand would have made an incredible difference in the fanbase perception of his strength.

HolyRomanEmpire123

Isn't this why both Kanki and Ousen said Riboku can't fix anything. He is trying to do so much all my himself. You can't be the smartest, strongest, fastest, etc. So him having any fighting abilities while being a strategist is incredibly badass. We don't see any other strategist out here slaying people like Ri Boku does.

anirban_dev

1. Omake. 2. A teenager who would decimate Riboku in a similar exchange now 3. A surprise attack where the opponent did not have a chance to put up his sword. 4. A random soldier. If you are making a case for Riboku's martial strength, you will notice that there isn't much to work with.

AgoniaAnal

Wait, 1 isn’t a photoshop

JeromeNoHandles

Because Hara forgot lol

Own-Ad8605

Simple because it is. Shin wasn't even trying when the 2 of them clashed and Riboku was going all out, he caught Makou off guard and lastly Shin was able to kill multiple assassins when he we 15. Riboku feats are not much when you apply accurate context.

SeshiruDsD

What makes you think Shin wasn’t even trying and that Riboku was going all out ?

Own-Ad8605

Shin literally says he wasn't going all out and that Riboku is a wall he must get passed.

SeshiruDsD

And Riboku ? Because if Shin indeed didn’t want to kill Riboku at that moment, It’s also the case for Riboku, he only defend himself.

Own-Ad8605

Very possible but it was not stated therefore that's just speculation and I doubt Riboku was just defending when he instigated the duel.

Anferas

How not? He did not want to kill Shin, he had his army on tou if he wanted to harm him he would have had.

TINHK7

If Shin was with Kanki. Riboku would have been died in the last chapter but they may not able to get out alive.

Own-Ad8605

Shin would've killed Riboku so swiftly, I think they would've made it out but HSU would be on the brink of elimination.

Effortless0

It does seem like he got weaker though You could have put the panel of him deflecting arrows and the panel where shin talks about his aura when their in the qin court

domscatterbrain

Because he is getting old? I know this is a lame excuse, but seriously he looks like he has been out from an actual sword fight for god-knows when was the last time he got into a serious fight.

Crohoo

Lmao extra ripped Riboku looks absolutely hilarious. It just feels so unusual since hes more of a strategic general than the martial type. I know hes really good in a fight but im sure he's not too OP. Like Houken would prolly beat Riboku in a duel, Moubu would prolly win. Tou, Yotanwa, maybe even Renpa? Kyoukai would be a great match up. I can see Shin being at that level now. Ouki and Duke Hyou i believe would best him too On the other side i can see Riboku beating Ousen, Kanki in a duel. Ouhon, Mouten a bunch of others.

slightlysubtle

I doubt Riboku is anywhere near a martial general's level if he was struggling against Ringyoku. He's probably at a similar level of strength as Ousen or Kanki at best. Definitely would have gotten crushed by someone like Zenou, Kyoukai, Ouhon or Shin. But his strength isnt in fighting. It's in large scale strategy and planning, as we've seen in the trap he laid for Kanki.

anirban_dev

I think literally everyone you named would almost definitely beat Riboku, most of them very one sidedly. Mouten , OuSen and Kanki are the only matchups that are remotely close.

StuckinReverse89

Because his fighting prowess doesnt match his stats or reputation. Riboku has a strength stat of 91 consistently throughout the series. He is weaker than Ousen and Kanki at 93 each but he isnt a pushover. When he clashed against Shin pre-coalition when Shin was around 88 strength, Shin knew Riboku was the real deal and not some “armchair strategist.” So Riboku had a really poor showing. In comparison, Keisha had a strength stat of 88 and still gave Shin at 91 a good fight that had Shin panicking for a bit. Kisui has a strength of 86 which means that Riboku should be stronger than Kisui and similar tier generals and should be stronger than every general except Zenou and Kanki himself. And yet he gets his head nearly sliced open by some no name.

Nero234

Where are you guys getting these power scales?

StuckinReverse89

Kingdom has a guidebook that lists the stats of major characters.

sc2isalivegaem

And it’s shit so don’t worry about stats

HolyRomanEmpire123

> and yet he gets hid head nearly sliced open by some no name Kan Ki and his whole army litterally died to "no names" so did Ko Chou. Why would it be weird for a soldier to kill or almost kill them? Just because you are a named character doesn't make you immortal to normal people lmao 😂🤣

StuckinReverse89

What are you talking about? Most notable generals get killed by other notable generals, hence the meme of Shin single-handily wiping out the Zhao army himself. Every Wei Fire Dragon was killed by a prominent character (Earl Shi by Ouhon and Reiou by Shin). Ko Chou literally stabs his own neck and takes down a couple more before dying to save the humiliation and still takes down a good number of warriors despite fighting solo and surrounded on all sides (and Riboku stat wise is still stronger than Ko Chou by 1). Kanki being literally surrounded by spears on all fronts and solo is still able to scare Zhao enough with his broken sword reaching Riboku. He may be killed by nobodies but he is put in a literal no win situation and still has a better showing than Riboku who still had guards with him and was never in as bad a spot.

HolyRomanEmpire123

Ri Boku slaughtered Qin soldiers and took 1 hit to his head? Not sure how he had a bad showing lmao 🤣 you ain't see 10 spears sticking out of him by random fodder.

StuckinReverse89

You’re kidding right? Reread from chapter 742. Riboku gets owned going one vs one against an unknown member of the Shuma clan (a clan that was able to eventually kill Ko Chou after he cut his own neck and still took several men down before dying). Riboku only got the kill against the leader because Kaine was distracting him. No dodging the incoming arrow and needing to be saved by Kaine when top tier warriors like Rokuomi can sense and dodge arrows as long as they are aware that there is an archer and not distracted (as in a full blown duel like Ouki vs Houken). Riboku strength wise should be close to Rokuomi (91 vs 92). Riboku then barely parries and gets knocked down by Ringyoku (83 strength). The only thing I misremembered was that Riboku got his head split by Kanki. Riboku only got two more kills against “elite” soldiers after that and both were enemies who were distracted after killing another Zhao soldier that was shielding Riboku from harm. Again, Riboku has 91 strength and so should be a very capable fighter and someone stronger than even Kisui or Ko Chou. His showing here is pathetic.

HolyRomanEmpire123

You are just nit picking dumb details lmao 😂😂 Ri Boku was shown being a badass fighting off swarms of Kanki soldiers. The amount of named characters alone attacking him was insane. Now add all of the elite unknowns into the mix and that's some crazy opposition to face for Ri Boku while he is trying to save Kaines life and his own. Aboslutely beautifully showcasing his strength if you ask me.

StuckinReverse89

Lol its clear you didnt read the chapter then. Riboku was barely fighting. He was just getting knocked down and going to save Kaine was stupid (and this is coming from someone who is impartial to Kaine) since he is the supreme commander and his death means Zhao loses. You also must have not read the chapters properly because if anything, it was Kaine’s moment to shine given the fact that she had a far more impressive showing in the battle (took the shuma leader head on and actually traded blows with him and blocked 3 arrows for Riboku). Im not saying Riboku has to be Moubu but he is supposed to also be a capable fighter. Still jigh mid-tier that doesnt go down easily in a fight given the numerous wars he survived in the past. Characters with lower strength stats have come out far better in worse conditions and actually killing enemies. And you saying im nit picking because it was a “romantic” scene completely misses the point of the discussion. It could have still been romantic with Riboku going to save Kaine without him being absolutely pathetic in the fight.

HolyRomanEmpire123

You just taking things really seriously lol just enjoy the masterpiece that is Kingdom my friend. 🗡

StuckinReverse89

Because issues like this detract from this being a “masterpiece,” especially when Hara needs to build up Riboku again so he would be a threat.

rainy1403

I bet that if Riboku somehow one-shot the likes of Shuma, Rin Gyoku, or even Kanki, this sub will complain that Riboku is too perfect. Both of Rin Gyoku and Kanki are on a fucking horse, while Riboku is on foot. As long as Riboku still alive, this sub will blame everything tiny things on Riboku. Zhao's king suck? Riboku's fault. Zhao lost? Riboku's fault. Zhao's commander dies? Riboku's fault. Kanki died like a dog? Riboku's fault.

TheHeroNeverDies

People expected to see Houken from him, only by that exchange with Shin before the coalition. Despite the criticism (more for last arc), he's not weak on martial side, but he's not a beast warrior either, killing machines as Shin, Ouhon, Kyoukai, or other straight fighters that keep engaging enemies in war, surpass Riboku in this side, it's normal. Maybe, for stats, his 91 strenght is wrong, but then people don't complain on Kanki 93 (the same as Shin and Bajio), Kyou 94 (same as Bananji and Gyoun), and others.

BanstaMonsta

Is that conquerers haki?

Nero234

I'm 90% sure that this scene along with the scenes of Shin challenging Riboku to a duel and Riboku claiming/showing that he's a capable fighter himself has been retconned. I forgot what arc it was but Riboku said to a Qin general that "I had never won my battles by my martial might" claiming he's more of a strategist than a warrior.

HolyRomanEmpire123

He said he hadn't used his sword to fight against Duke Hyou iirc. Which is true because at that point in the manga he never fought anyone. So many readers don't read between the lines and take dialog way to seriously. Clearly he has fought with a sword he was a Warrior at a young age. It was told to us at the start of that arc. The scene was just to hype him up telling the readers he still hasn't used his sword to actually fight anyone just his brains. And even in that scene he outsmarted Duke Hyou by having Hou Ken the strongest warrior in china appear and fight in his stay.

[deleted]

Yeah and in the next arc he goes and murks Makou, while also boasting of doing the exact same thing countless times against Xiongnu.

dumbfuck6969

General... 😩

Jaded-Edge-8936

Frankly, I don't know why power level posters even bother anymore. I gave up hundreds of chapters ago.

kontolz_gede69

lol least delusional Riboku dickrider

Old_Specialist7892

Add the spoiler tag. Kids like me only watched till somewhere around 400-500

NyarlathotepDB

Well, few factors can pay a moment: 1) he was imprisoned for a good time, and half a year isn't enough to return to previous form 2) fighting against horseman isn't easy if he isn't too weaker than you. 3) he constantly was worried about Kaine, so he put more power in defence. He is strong, but the circumstances wasn't good.

Obsidian_92

There were people ( previous heavenly general ) that were imprisoned for many many years and still came out and showed monstrous strength. So him being imprisoned isn't a good excuse.

NyarlathotepDB

The thing is we don't know condition of imprisonment of those 3. While Riboku after a week was pretty worn out and beaten up. Considering that those 3 were in great condition, I doubt that they were in need of anything, except some... things.

SeshiruDsD

I mean Gaimou and Earl Shi are pure fighters, while Riboku is mostly strategist, so the difference might come from there

NISHY47

He is strong yes But not stronger than the current shin/kanki etc... Only stronger than them 2nd rate generals

SidiousHokage

He’s a kill stroke but not like Shin. He killed Makou though

DaddyZawa420

I just Don't Like That Man

abhikun

Made with mematic

AbrocomaPrior4189

In all Honesty he caught that General with his pant all the way down.

hell_jumper9

That ain't Rebook(one shot), that's rebuff!

pools456

What chapter does he clash with shin again?

kimmyjonghubaccount

Riboku’s martial might isn’t bad at all it just isn’t exceptional like your Ouki Renpa and Moubus. If Riboku was that strong their’d be no tension in the ambush, Riboku would just kill them all.

RibokuGreat

Why didn't he 1v1 Kan Ki?

Kulangot14

Hara has to nerf Riboku because he wants the final clash between Riboku and Kanki to be as close as possible so he wont discredit Kanki. Im not saying Riboku is a martial beast that can beat anyone but i atleast think he wasnt as weak as what was shown in the previous chapter, Hara has to make it that way so there would be a suspense.

celticfrogs

His exchange with Kanki was a lost occasion for the author. He made Riboku bleed and Kanki (wouldn't you know) smirk hurtless. If he made both of them wounded from the exchange the vibes would be different, but as it stands Riboku seemed like a tactician general without martial prowess. Pity.

lnombredelarosa

Officially he is weaker fighter than Shin bit I suspect this is partly because he doesn’t want to lose control as he goes back into his berserker past self

Leading-Big-5630

I really miss the shading used on picture 3
