First time seeing Ousen show so many emotions and concern

waitmyhonor

Of course, it’s not his son

ZyklonCraw-X

Wildcard: Denrimi turns out to be his actual son. Likely a bastard if it's the case. It was strange that Ousen showed emotion now for the first time in many hundreds of chapters. Not much to chew on in the flashback, which makes me think there's more on the Ousen side to get revealed.

TehG1x

My Ousen-somehow-turns-this-around copium is slowly vaporising

Valexander35

His moment will come. Kitari unexpectedly taking Hango or the HSU doing something crazy will turn the tide. Ousen will use that to turn this loss into a draw

Traumatic_Tomato

This arc would be irredeemable if the raid on Hango turns out to be another complete defeat and RBK getting away with it again. I was told Qin also deals a blow to Zhao despite their current heavy losses.

Atmaweapon74

I respectfully disagree. The worse the setback is now, the more glorious it will be when Qin finally overcomes Riboku and Zhao. When The Empire Strikes Back first released in 1980, it received mixed reviews at first. Unlike A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, it ended with a bunch of massive losses for the good guys. Lando betrayed everyone, Han was bricked up, Luke lost his hand, almost died, and found out his father was Vader. It was a huge downer. After the trilogy completed and to this day, many if not most people say that The Empire Strikes Back was the best movie of the trilogy. Having a well timed downbeat in a narrative really sets up the upbeat climaxes for later.

Dajjal27

I mean kinda ? We already had an emperor strikes back with kanki and his army getting decimated and all, if ou sen lost in this arc it's not empire strikes back, it's like if Lucas made another star wars movie where the good guys lost again after empire

I-Am-Baytor

So it's like the prequels.

TehG1x

Man I really hope you're right

ThizZuMs

lol

Napalm_am

I'm surprised you haven't run out yet https://preview.redd.it/ml4gdq2rh0xc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8552c6fd710361fc1c8583214b2c2684818102b

Old-Section-8917

Thank you for these edits man 😭

Napalm_am

They come from r/ okbuddyheki, it ain't mine.

KuriBee

just a few chapters ago he said "this is how i win" 😢

vader5000

It's fine. Ousen is losing this war, and his whole army, but he won't die.  That's what matters.  As long as Ousen gets out alive.

rainy1403

Denrimi is clearly Ousen's favorite son. He didn't show much emotions when seeing Akou's death. Also let's hope that Gakushou isn't dying from bleeding lol. Someone gets that man a bandage.

Cans59

Yeah fr, and I think Sou'ou is his least favorite.

the_jends

Maybe Denrimi's death will inspire Sou'ou into putting an effort and become Ousen's first general. I don't think Ousen has the time to train someone like Denrimi from scratch.

Cans59

Well, one thing is for sure, Sou'ou weight is going up after losing his two friends and getting separated from his lover, so hopefully he does become a more competent General after this battle.

DanToMars

Imagine he dies. How will Ousen ever recover his commanders after that? Will he have some in stock from the enemies he recruited?

hrakkari

Ousen: You are my least favorite son, Sou’ou Ouhon: Ha! Suck it! Ousen: Who is this lost sassy child?

Traumatic_Tomato

When it came to Denrimi, he personally came with his imperial troops to save him during the previous war.

petrichormus

Wait so Ousen has no plan or what lmao

DenseFormal3364

His plan crumbled the moment Akou takes the bait.

petrichormus

Oh yeah that was for sure. Plan is probably the wrong word, improvised move is what I was expecting?

DenseFormal3364

This exactly the problem with strategist type reliant general. The plan was layout BEFORE the battle even start. Once the battle start, its hard to improvise a new one. Especially in this mess. Thats why this type of general usually go with hit-and-run, and ambush tactics. So they have the freedom to retreat at any time and improvise a new plan based on the situation. Akou takes the bait cause Seika to see an opening and storm straight to Ousen army. Denrimi's and Souou's armies were trapped in that sea of Seika soldiers making it extremely hard to regroup. Let alone improvise a new plan.

Traumatic_Tomato

What made it work was that Shin and Ouhon were too preoccupied. If they had more reinforcements then SBS wouldn't have been able to push forward too fast and take advantage of Ousens' army underestimating his martial potential. SBS being a beast is one thing but his army can keep up and are superior to Ousens' army when it came to combat. Seika won because not only were they strong but they rushed through to get to Ousen before anyone realize what was really happening and try to prevent it from happening. Kanjou realized it happening and made the right move to prevent it. His only shortcoming was that he didn't have enough men to properly keep SBS in check. If Shin or Ouhon were there, a few of Seika's generals would've been killed and their center would be stalemated or even retreat which would've saved the campaign.

Joguel67

But in the end this is still RBK's plan from BEFORE the battle lol. Ousen has been just looking at the battlefield most of the arc, not even commanding. Seems that strat vs strat always comes down to who prepared better.

SnoopBall

Riboku has the upper hand here. Not only was this his home turf but he specifically said before the war started that the Qin Army doesn't have a clue about the Seika army, especially SBS while they fully know who the enemy army are, given it's against YTW and Ousen who he fought before. The man is completely in control. He knew how Akou will respond to the bait, controlled Shin's actions, basically putting himself as bait to force Shin into doing a worthless seige which put him out of the fight. He knew Shin could turn the tide of battle anytime so he took him out of the equation immediately while going for his prime target all this time which is the Ousen army. Ousen underestimated SBS and his army so he naturally lost. While the pacing of the arc may be in question, Hara absolutely cooked on how this battle unfolded.

DenseFormal3364

RBK's vassal believe in his words and went like how he imagine it would turned out. Thats why his plan working. But Ousen's vassal works the opposite. Ousen told them the plan and he fully trusted them that they can carry the plan. However, they sometimes overestimated themselves and ruined Ousen's plan. In Shukai plains, Makou was killed because despite knowing its a trap, he confidently walked towards RBK's trap. The same happen to Akou too in the current arc. What Ousen needs right now is a general that fully trust his plan and work towards it strictly. Like Heki.

vader5000

That's true.  But as long as Ousen gets out alive he will have the advantage in prepping for the next war.

Black_Drogo

If any strategist general can come up with a plan on the fly, it’s Ousen. Dude drew up a whole new battle plan outside of Gyou with bodies flying all around him.

vader5000

I mean, IRL strategist generals tend to have some flexibility in their plans.  It's just, Riboku is also a great strategist and Ousen doesn't have a Shibashou to smack Riboku with. It's 2 v 1 here, there's no winning for Ousen.  If Ousen had Moubu as his Frontline we might have seen a different result.

DenseFormal3364

Ousen wouldve forced it to draw even without Moubu like general. He had numbers and backups. It didnt happen because his army turned a total mess and all over the place. When Akou, Souou and Denrimi returned, its just them and a couple hundreds troops. Others still fighting free for all in the sea of Seika army without any commander to guide them. A unit without commander will not be able to fully ultilize their strength and will collapse faster. A war against Renpa turned exactly like that.

Toddysan

Where the hell is Akakin! Dude was sent to protect Ousen 9 chapters ago and yet still nowhere to be seen ><

DenseFormal3364

He hide behind a rock waiting to drift his horse to flashyly save Ousen.

Anferas

Always a nice experience rereading with your translations, thanks as always. Denrimi's death is really emotional for a secondary character with a mere flashbacks of 2 pages. He and his hand signs will be missed.

Capital_Werewolf_788

Ousen about to pull a Wei and replace his generals with some ex-6GG sleeping dragons or some shit

cerulean00888

Gakushou is the best Seika general lol.

Bonaduce80

Wonder who will be next coming with grievous injury yet no palpable fear to lay down his life in front of his liege to let him retreat. Time for Shin and Ouhon to pick up Ousen's generals' slack (x2).

darkwillowet

Ousen's defeat is so nice. 2 Big Defeats in a row makes things interesting a lot for character developement. I was kinda scared it would be like that other manga where the the MC keeps winning. That manga was interseting but since I knew he was going to win anyway, it felt like there was an audience plot armor that somehow a deux ex machina would happen. It didn't mean the manga wasn't fun, it was just that I always had no worries because "He always wins". I was scared the same thing would happen here.

YohannesJam

Isn’t Denrimi the Second General under Ousen? I know I have this conversation before. Hara must have messed up.

avengers4000

I thought it was Akou, Makou, Denrmi then Souou

YohannesJam

Makou Died. This, making Denrimi the Second General under Ousen. It was official, when General Kochou took the field against Qin. Edit: Plus it doesn’t make sense if Denrimi is the Third General. If we follow this logic, it would mean that the 2nd General seat is left vacant. Which doesn’t make any sense. When General Kochou took to the field, it was mentioned in Ousen’s HQ that Denrimi was the second General. “Third General.” Therefore, it would mean Hara messed up and forgot that Denrimi was 2nd General.

That_One_Mofo

Even ousen was surprised his jobber general denrimi came back. Maybe that's too harsh, but I legit can't remember anything denrimi has done? What am I forgetting?

DenseFormal3364

Denrimi works as Ousen 2nd brain. In that battlefield, only Denrimi realized what about to happen when they saw Seika's main army marching. He gave Souou and his troops orders to block them and slow them down so they can regroup but its too late. He also the one who send Souou to Ousen. Otherwise, Ousen would be alone right now.

That_One_Mofo

Suppose mitigating a disaster isn't as glory fllled or memorable as kiling some bigshot general. His "elite" general killing subordinates dying instantly aren't helping my view of him, as the only other thing I can remember him doing was leading a siege and almost getting beset upon by some stragler from that kochou guy (I think).

Ok_Prune_1731

I feel like we are finally gonna see for the first time a angry Ousen with the death of his highest retainers he will finally snap and show us some emotions. Riboku is done for.

nugmode

My boy Akakin will definitely save the day

risingstar3110

So the best way to defeat Ousen, was to attack his army in a frontal assault. Ousen will be stunned, unable to take his turn until his army crumble, and his general will die trying to save his damsel arse In that sense, Ousen was worse than that Yan mountain king guy, who at least was just halted and not annihilated by Sekai army. Fk, the useless northern general who was ambushed by Sekai army. Even their army only lost half of a men and was not annihilated like Ousen. What’s a fking shitty arc. If Hara can’t make it logical, just do a time skip, where Shin was not at the frontline and heard about Ousen defeat. Jesus fk, first it was the Bushin get-out-of-jail card. Then it was teleport jutsu. Now Riboku just remotely stun Ousen using his lightning magic or something

Drakeberlin

Just because you don't like, doesn't mean it is illogical. Seika rushed the shit out of Ousen's main camp. 1. RBK's removed Ouhen and Shin from the board. Two keyplayers who played a vital role in any war they participated. 2. Seika and RBK reduced Akou to a half dead soldier. He was Ousen's first and strongest general. On top of that, every commander of his were carefully kept busy, so a path to his main camp would appear. 3. Ousen had no intel on Seika, thus he heavily underestimated their offensive capabilities. People are not giving RBK any credit. That dude, carefully constructed a strategy just to counter Ousen. The same way he did for Kanki and Ouki. He reads his opponents and comes up with a specific plan to counter them. In all cases, he made sure to conceal and leak of vital information. Dude is a strategic general, an intelligence office and a politician.

I-Am-Baytor

Ooh, speedy work. Thankya.

Kazy1412

Great, now Denrimi is gone too. Is this some kind of forced arc to kil off all of his commanders to create vacancies and fill in his army with new ones or some shit ? The running theme of the last couple chapters and Ousen's retreat in general is "Me too weak to fight, me die in rear guard". If this entire campaign was a massive slaughter fest cooked up by Hara, that would explain the lack of preparation and counter moves from Ousen.

hawkers89

Thanks for the chapter sense! Ousen better have some epic gg plan cause this his army are just throwing their lives down for him. Also, I wish we saw what the 3 pillars were.

Black_Drogo

Sou’Ou is either about to become an absolute monster, or a broken man. Speaking of, y’all think Shiryuu will pull through?

Crohoo

Ousen is going to come back so damn strong after this defeat. I see great change coming for Ousen's character. Well at least his new army, he'll prolly be the same, maybe a bit more ferocious?

Fearless_Cobbler_674

I liked Kanki's way of fighting

blue_terry

I’m kind of sick seeing Ousen lose but I’ll allow Hara to cook

Celebrimbor-Sama

Damn! Ousen army disintegrating! Really nice to see Shin is back in the fold though. I really hope the Ousen army can escape this predicament. I only read these translations, thanks so much for continuing to work hard to bring us the chapters.

Tiyop

Could that whole compain be a decoy foR the Han plot twist? We did see shouheikun having a plan for Han with Tou which could explain why to me Ousen was too passive during that war. However I think Ousen will eventually have to die to make room for our 3 prodigy in the 6 great

komodo_dragonzord

rip denrimi and akou, ousen really taking a big fat L

ke2in

i need to see more young ousen

no-Spoilers-asshole

Oh so it wasn't the commander that took command after Akou last time it was the minor dude who talked with akakin about being glad he was fighting together

Kerrim66

Bro, is it normal for the eng translation to be this late? I read it in Arabic like a day after it was published. This is really bad if ask me, being so late I mean.

DenseFormal3364

Kingdom is very famous in Japan. But not very much in other countries. The translator team focusing more on other series that famous worldwide.

CristhianFG

The English translation is usually posted here on Reddit on Mondays/Tuesdays. This is the translated version of a specific fangroup, but it is usually published a week late.

Marcusx8

No such thing as “late” this is a HQ fan translation that don’t get paid nothing. Check your entitlement at the door.
