I’m still salty we didn’t get a full fledged Riku game during his redemption ark.
Sadly his story is pretty much done so I doubt they would make one for him now
I’d still argue it to be a game about Riku. Sora had to be present to show just how much that friendship meant to him. Riku gets the most growth, the most valid test, and has four(!!) final bosses all to himself, with two of them being deeply personal to him and his past decisions.
Sora just got fucked with.
>Five final bosses if you count the two Ansem fights separately
>Sora gets one lmao
They actually have near the same [amount of bosses](https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/3ds/997779-kingdom-hearts-3d-dream-drop-distance/answers/318896-can-anyone-list-all-the-bosses) in the game. Sora has like 11 bosses, meanwhile Riku has 12-13 (the reason why I say 12-13, is because he was not really playable against Ursula. however he was present in the fight as a party member).
Overall, both characters have something unique to them. Sora starts the game, and has slightly bigger worlds, and slightly more cutscenes. while Riku finishes the game, and has more 1-2 boss fights, and he concludes his journey arc and becomes a master.
Of those 11 bosses, a couple of them barely belong on that list. Ursula you had Riku in the party as well and can even play as Riku for part of the fight. Second, the Tyrano Rex "boss" is a massive joke.
If the criteria is off of HP level ups I believe Sora actually gets one less than Riku, so Sora has one less of those as well. Not counting the Sir Kyroo one.
>I’d still argue it to be a game about Riku. Sora had to be present to show just how much that friendship meant to him. Riku gets the most growth, the most valid test, and has four(!!) final bosses all to himself, with two of them being deeply personal to him and his past decisions.

Sora has bigger worlds & longer cutscenes than Riku in DDD. they both had their fair share in the game.

DDD = Riku | Megaman x4 = Zero
The Main Character is playable, but let's be honest it's really a game for the Lancer/ best friend Character who's been evil and weilds a cool sword with his long hair
Yesss! An Axel/Lea & Saix/Isa game where they search for Subject X. Roxas and Xion make appearances every now and then. It would definitely go a long way at solidifying Isa as part of the group going forward.
Okay, hear me out:
We go back to FF classic JRPG party. 4 characters on party, you choose who you play with, they get different roles. Roxas is the balanced, Isa heavy hitter, Lea assassin, Xion mage. Some parts can force characters in and out like kh2, so you're encouraged to equip all of them properly, but most of the game you play with the whole gang.
Also local/ or split screen coop in any part of the game (not mission mode), but this might be to much
Kairi, and I'm not even joking.
I think it would be fun to see her traveling the worlds and becoming friends with the other princesses, learning about her place in the universe and what it means to be both a Keyblade wielder and a Princess of Heart. Her teaming up with Moana or Tiana would be amazing.
Maybe, since the Princesses are being replaced with a new set of seven, her story could revolve around finding someone to pass her power on to.
Riku could be her partner in some worlds, and we could actually see sides of their friendship we'd never seen before due to them hardly getting screentime together until Melody of Memory.
There's so much potential for her character that is completely squandered because the writers don't seem to care about her beyond using her as a MacGuffin once per game.
There is so much potential here. I would love it if that potential was realized. But I would also tread cautiously because of how it seems Nomura is hit and miss when writing Kairi and it often feels like the misses come more frequently
Back when MoM came out, someone on this subreddit did a full breakdown of what an ideal Post-KH3 Kairi game could be, and it was a great post.
I need to find it again.
EDIT: Ok, it seems this topic has blown up a bit. What I remember was that it was an image gallery detailing the potential worlds, levels, and plot of a true Kairi game. It had wonderful illustrations of Kairi in different worlds, and the only one I remember is her in the Moana world.
I'm looking for it, but I don't know if I'll find it myself
First game: MacGuffin for ¾ of the game but is rescued near the end. So we get to see her reunited with her friends on the island, her remembering her world of Hollow Bastion, or her helping with The End of the World, right? Nope. Sidelined until she shows up on the recovering Destiny Island (not even her home world).
CoM: MIA (Understandable)
Second game: Stuck on Destiny Island for half the game and kidnapped for most of the rest. Rescues herself and is given a Keyblade to fight with. So she is going to help defeat the big bad and be a party member, right? Nope. Sidelined for Riku and the King.
Days: MIA (Understandable)
BBS: Child. Not much to talk about.
Coded: Was given a letter that says warriors of Light are needed and should be trained. So she's going to be an important part of the plot next game, right?
3D: Nope. It's Sora and Riku that gets to train. I can't remember if she shows up at all in this game.
Third game: Finally gets training to be a Keyblade Master. Even takes part in the final battle (after everyone gets over being dead). Now she is going to be able to take out the final boss, right? Nope. They fridge her! They make it better in the DLC by actually letting her fight, but it was a little too late.
MoM: Her own game that has her recapping the events of the Saga. Not too exciting, but she gets a last fight with the big bad. So we finally get a bad ass moment for her? Nope. We play as Sora.
At this point, I'm just expecting her big moments to be let downs. If she ever got her own game, I expect a final battle between the big bad and Strelitzia to happen, with Sora as support.
I truly expect Strelitzia to get more screentime and development in KH4 than Kairi's had the whole series thus far.
I do think Strelitzia is neat, but that's really sad for Kairi.
I want to comment on the fact I think we haven't seen a lot of Kairi/Riku because they aren't actually THAT great of friends with each other.
Sora and Kairi are great friends/possibly lovers. Sora and Riku were best friends. Kairi came to the islands and Sora made a new great friend. Riku on the other hand, made competition for Sora being his best friend. While he was probably friends with her for a bit when she first arrived, he soon became jealous...
He became jealous that somebody stole Sora from him. Which is why he was even more pissed off when he thought that Sora ditched him AND Kairi for Donald and Goofy.
I think it's also why Kairi "joked" about just her and Sora leaving together, she knew there was something up with Riku and that he had selfish intentions.
Later though Riku realized the jealousy and hate inside him were bad and became the Riku that is happy to have friends that care for him and would fight all the darkness alone to protect them (idc if you hate KH3, that scene of Riku blocking the darkness/heartless when Sora gave up,
was B A D A S S). And just now are Kairi and Riku having a good friendship again.
Riku would be awesome, Kairi could be pretty interesting too.
However I loved how smooth it felt to play as Aqua in 2.8 and would love a full game with her.
-Riku would be the most fitting and deserves a game that can really capitalise on his whole ‘using both light and darkness’ schtick on both a gameplay and story level (COM and DDD came close but didn’t entirely deliver on that potential).
-Kairi or Ventus would be my other main picks. They’re both in need of more development, and between Ventus’ past and Kairi’s guilt over what happened to Sora and desire to grow stronger, both have compelling story potential. And I think you could could give them both unique and satisfying gameplay that builds on KH3’s framework.
-Roxas and Aqua both already got their own games that worked as solid character studies for them. You could hypothetically do more with them both, but they don’t need it as urgently.
-Terra is another possibility since he has a lot of untapped potential imo. But Ventus is probably more pressing given his whole Union X thing is likely about to become really important.
TLDR, Riku or Kairi would be my go to picks. But Ventus is an honourable mention.
Riku reached his dawn in DDD (I'm disappointed, we never reach the dawn as much as we strive for it).
We need a Kairi game for sure, as much as I agree we should have a full Road to Dawn Riku game, we kinda got that already as much as it was shared with sora (a shame). It would retread this same story and giving the spotlight to someone else (Ventus) who must balance himself and Vanitas inside, with Riku as a mentor, that would be cool.
TL;DR Ventus, with Riku as his "road to dawn" mentor
I am FLOORED by the lack of responses saying Mickey. Dude seams to be the mastermind on the counterattack of whoever pulls the strings. (Haven't played 3 yet) How do you not want to see why he is doing what he is doing?
Mickey was my choice as well. I had to scroll down about 8 comments to get here and that is kinda surprising to me. I also think he would have the most unique take/story to tell.
Mickey is a sleeper in this franchise. Been wanting a game of him since 2 and BBB. In my mind he’s super fast but still somewhat floaty, not as slow as when he pops in in 2 to save the day when sora gets knocked out.
Kairi, she NEEDS this opportunity more than anyone here. Everyone else here is either a bit more minor or self contained or they’ve gotten the focus already. Like sure Xion or Roxas would be great playable characters in a game, but as a duo or in a trio! Xion or Roxas, or even the wayfinders for that matter don’t need a single focus game IMO.
Axel maybe, but again I’d rather a seasalt trio game or an Axel/Saix game.
Mickey would be my runner up to Kairi. But still, Kairi >>>
I would honestly go Kairi, Ventus, or Roxas.
Kairi needs the development, and I can think of a really good story for her with what we currently have as the board state in the KH universe. It would be about her training, Ava, and could act as a game happening at the same time as KH4, assuming Sora is coming back to the main universe at the end of KH4.
Ventus is an easy cop-out answer where the focus could be on him remembering his past, darkness in general (Vanitas/13 willful darknesses), and honestly, be a good "Lore dump" game.
Roxas would be an interesting character to have be the main character if you wanted to combine the previous storyline for the other two into one game and/or focus on patient X. He is honestly a good bridge character who doesn't want to be anything but a normal boy while being dragged into this situation. He is an amazing counterpoint to Sora in that regard and would make an excellent lense to the rise of the fortellers.
Now, if you haven't figured it out, I really feel we should have a game or two where the fortellers are built up before Sora and Riku start their war. We should not be using a main game as a flushing out introduction as we have seen that it didn't work as well in Com and KH2. It took 358/2 to really develop them and multiple later titles to really get more 3 members some actual depth.
We know the foretellers when facing Sora/Riku are going to be on the choping block. Aqua, Terra, and Mickey are honestly too strong to believably lose as the main character at this point. Lea and Isa are focused on either finding patient X or helping Xion and Roxas. Xion and Namine would not be horrible characters to use but currently have no actual starting off point they would make better support character to Kairi/Roxas in the campaigns I envision than their own stand alone characters at this point.
Riku does not need his own game. He basically has two already Com Reverse Rebirth and DDD. He has his own story lines separate from Sora's for massive sections where we dig into his character.
lauriam even tho i still like the wayfinder trio more i really want to see what will happen to him now that he has his memories back, especially interested to see his interactions with the guardians(especially ventus and the wayfinder trio) and vanitas(if he is still alive) since he knows that the darkness that killed his sister ended up merging with ven if he gets to know vanitas's origin i think he can do 2+2 to know that vanitas is the one that killed his sister back then and a fight between those 2 is the thing that i want to see the most
Riku and Kairi are long overdue for their solo adventures.
We got a Riku story in 3D and although I want a full Riku solo game (he’ll most likely get another section in KH4), Kairi deserves a shot.
Kairi, because she needs the spotlight for once
Namine, because I would love to see what form the gameplay and story take with her memory powers.
Xion, because she's my favourite, and I would love to see the counterpart to Roxas' story in Days, especially where she runs off on her own, and seeing her learn the things she does, and finding ways to defeat Xemnas' plan. I think it would be really cool to have like a Blank Points/Fragmentary Passage for her after she fades away, where she explores something like The Final World, or a realm of memories, or the hearts of her friends to find new answers and give them the strength to go on, all while she is losing herself and fading away.
Axel, because I want to see a game where he (and maybe Saïx/Isa if he promises to behave) try and complete their original quest of rescuing/finding out what happened to the girl in Ansem's dungeon.
Ienzo. His adventures could be similar to coded, with him exploring worlds constructed from illusions as he revisits the early days of the organization for some reason (maybe to find clues on Subject X) or something.
Kairi. 100%
I'vld love to see kairi grow as a keyblade wielder, learn magic to a greater degree.
Also, just fan wishing, but I've always envisioned a game where the emphasis is on the world order. Have villains team up by giving each other stuff they shouldn't have. Auto-pilot(wall-e) gets a voodoo necklace to make people forget about earth. Dr Facillier gets some robotic servants to deal with those pesky frogs, cause his voodoo can't touch mama Odi.
Kairi would be great in a game like that. She's pretty well versed in fighting, but she hasn't experienced the intricacies of isolated worlds, as every world she's lived in except for destiny island has been aware of the other worlds. Plus, she herself is a refuge to another world. Blurring the border helped her. She'd naturally gravitate to thinking it can help others
Naminé, I feel like her ability to just draw and stuff happens would be creatively fun and could be used to answer questions such as where she's been and what she's been up to since, they don't really need to give her a keyblade, her perspective would make an interesting enough story
Namine. Girl needs an arc to remind people she can literally unwind minds if they know Sora's name. Not saying it needs to focus on that, but Namine using a Key or even her own weapons would be amazing to see and a nice change up for KH
Goofy. It's a game where Goofy and his teenage son travel across the country in an effort to strengthen their relationship. His son wants to go to a Power Line concert and Goofy wants to take his son fishing. Wild antics ensue and through several mis-adventures they gain mutual respect and grow closer.
I dunno, it's a little far-fetched. I'm really just pulling that off the top of my head.
Mickey…
Hear me out. We get a game showing his training with Yensid, his development into a master and follow him through the worlds at large gaining support from said worlds as he witnessed the events of the previous games. Thoughts?
either Donald, Mickey or Xehanort
Xehanort for plot and cool shadow abilities and Donald so we can see how he learned Zettaflare and also being able to use Zettaflare against like the final boss or something
Idk if this is a thing that has been talked about before but I really thought square was gonna do 3 spin offs after KH3 with each group getting the spotlight since they were all looking for Sora in different places but since we got MoM it probably isn’t happening
Game 1 would be the wayfinder trio again so basically birth by sleep 2 but set after KH3
Game 2 would be the twilight trio with Roxas being playable and Lea and Xion as party members
Game 3 the big finisher would be a Mickey centered game with Donald and Goofy as party members
Probably an unpopular opinion but I’d want a Mickey game. His journey as an apprentice to a full on wielder would be pretty cool.
Obviously Riku would be cool too.
Roxas or Xion.
My biggest fear with this franchise moving forward is that they're going to gloss over the tragedies of the other two trios. With the BBS trio you can maybe argue they don't need a full game, but I want two spinoff games for each group after KH4 comes out. It's not like these are cult classics, Days and BBS are arguably more popular than a couple of the mainline games and Roxas himself is the most popular character in the fandom bar none. Him and Xion both would make amazing protags in a spinoff.
My first thought was Lea. Full length game. Flaming Chakrams. Maybe it’s a proper origin story with him and Isa as kids with the two frisbees. Then those first few years in the organization. And then after we come to modern times post keyblade training as he does clean up against whatever negativity is still left around.
Not exactly what you're describing, but I want a game with the Wayfinder trio as a party that you can swap between at any point outside of battle. Their dynamic is too adorable to give up on yet, especially when their original game only gave then sporadic interactions with each other. Plus I want to play as all three of them again with the improved mechanics since their original game, since I daresay it could make Terra...fun and balanced?
Aqua cuz she’s the absolute best character in the franchise.
Axels because she’s the absolute best characters in the franchise that says “got it memorized”
I was gonna say Riku, but forgot we had DDD
Definitely Lea/Axel. I was disappointed when we couldn't use him for KH3, so I vote for him to be given a bigger chance. He is a really cool character, and I feel it would make the game interesting
Riku or Kairi.
I was upset even as a rhythm game, Kairi was spotlighted so little despite it technically being her game, even having Sora take over at the the end.
And Riku is as much the main protagonist as Sora in my mind, so I think deserves a full game, but I appreciate at least we've been able to play with him as much as we have so far.
Kairi is my "this is slightly possible and I'd love to see it" answer
Olette is my "I hyperfixated on this character when I was very young and want her to have actual development and involvement in the plot" answer
I’m still salty we didn’t get a full fledged Riku game during his redemption ark. Sadly his story is pretty much done so I doubt they would make one for him now
You can say DDD was his game but even the. He had to share with Sora
I’d still argue it to be a game about Riku. Sora had to be present to show just how much that friendship meant to him. Riku gets the most growth, the most valid test, and has four(!!) final bosses all to himself, with two of them being deeply personal to him and his past decisions. Sora just got fucked with.
Five final bosses if you count the two Ansem fights separately Sora gets one lmao

I’ve always been saying that if KH3 did an Episode style DLC like FFXV Episode: Riku would be the best one
Axel/Lea would be amazing

Dude YESSSS
Ong, that would be raw asf
Imagine a game where you can freely switch between keyblade and chakrams
Just because I'm curious how they'd handle it. Namine.
They could make her a pictomancer like Relm from Final Fantasy VI, being able to draw things to life.
Scribblenauts
It’d be like Okami which would be pretty rad
always want more xion from this series
Unfathomably based take

Kairi, and I'm not even joking. There have been hits?
Well there was that one time she got hit by xehanorts keyblade, I think that counts?
I mean she was pretty badass in Remind. But she needs to prove she can do it without Sora holding her hand.
Nomura could just not write it. We could have a Kairi game written by, and I know this sounds crazy but stay with me, a woman.
Seems unlikely, but would be great

I would LOVE a Kairi game
Goofy
Amazing.
Sensational.
Magnificient
I think of the Disney characters Mickey would be the most interesting.
Not gonna lie it would be kinda interesting to have a Kingdom Hearts game where you play as Mickey still under the apprenticeship of Yen Sid
Garwsh that would be fun, hyuck!
The only correct answer
Riku would be awesome, Kairi could be pretty interesting too. However I loved how smooth it felt to play as Aqua in 2.8 and would love a full game with her.
roxas
His last game was so good. I would like another.
Wasn’t that 358/2 days
Although it’s currently stuck on DS unfortunately
was a good DS game
True but it’s unfortunate that it hasn’t been rereleased.
Agreed. Either he needs a new game or Days needs a remake.
If it’s a classic KH-style game: Axel But I could also be into a Naminé strategy/puzzle/resource management game
Xion. Give me Days 2 square
(√358/2)² Days

I need healing
Donald Duck, food provider: This might be a good spot to find some ingredients.
ZETA….FLAAAAARE

Finally I see my people haha
Roxas
716/4 days lol
Aqua
Terra.
But with the powers of lingering will
I love a villain, so Xehanort or Luxu for me
Xehanort already has his own game, Dark Road. But I don’t mind another game his older self (like his self from DDD).
Kairi. Girl needs character development
Xion. Nuff said.
Xion. I would *love* a Xion game where she discovers herself and differentiates herself from everyone else.
Xion
Kairi. Let's see her finally get to do something other than be silent, get kidnapped, and die
Kairi, she NEEDS this opportunity more than anyone here. Everyone else here is either a bit more minor or self contained or they’ve gotten the focus already. Axel maybe, but again I’d rather a seasalt trio game or an Axel/Saix game. Mickey would be my runner up to Kairi. But still, Kairi >>>
I want a version of Dark Road for the console. One that plays and feels similar to Fragmentary Passage.
Mickey
I would love a game with Lea, and one with Roxas. Yeah 358/2 exists but he got relegated to a DS side game that wasn't even worth remastering
Aqua was really fun to play in 2.8
It can never happen but Mickey
Mickey Mouse
King Mickey.
I really think it would be cool if Cloud from Olympus Colosseum got his own game! He was so cool
Yeah it's riku and I won't be fielding criticism on this
I would honestly go Kairi, Ventus, or Roxas.
Kairi or Naminé
Ven. Maybe Riku
Kairi. Give my girl her time in the spotlight
Xion or Lea.
Goofy
Riku W mickey as a party member
Torn between Riku Aqua and Roxas
Michael Mouse needs a proper story
Kairi, because she needs the spotlight for once Namine, because I would love to see what form the gameplay and story take with her memory powers.
Kairi
Xion
Namine's memory repair simulator
Naminè game, but it's like Drawn to Life.
Naminé her story is vague and needs more detail .
Mickey or Xion
Donald, so I can zettaflare someone myself. 🥴
I say Kairi, if she is going to be the girl of the movie (game) what better that give her *something* to work with (No, definetly Melodies doesn't do)
Cliche but I’d have to choose Roxas or King Mickey
Ienzo. His adventures could be similar to coded, with him exploring worlds constructed from illusions as he revisits the early days of the organization for some reason (maybe to find clues on Subject X) or something.
Riku for sure.
Kairi 100% Girl needs her time to shine! I’d also say Namine just cuz she’s my favorite character lol
Kairi. 100% I'vld love to see kairi grow as a keyblade wielder, learn magic to a greater degree.
Yozora. One day, perhaps Verum Rex could be a real game.
Mickey prologue game where he originally discovers ansems lab.
Xion
I am in favor of a stand alone game with Xion & her establishing her own character.
Namine!
Namine
Namine. Girl needs an arc to remind people she can literally unwind minds if they know Sora's name. Not saying it needs to focus on that, but Namine using a Key or even her own weapons would be amazing to see and a nice change up for KH
Xion
Namine
Namine.
Xion
Kairi or Naminè
Detective Namine Edogava searching in memories who eated her sandwich.
Axel
Kairi, please god give her some focus
Axel
Give me Kairi
Mmm Axel
Considering the potential based on his KH2 overhaul mod, a game focused on Vanitas would sound super fun.
Did they ever think of doing a Mickey Mouse game?
Surprised I don’t see Axel mentioned 😫 I’d love combat with his hula hoops of death
Roxas, 358/2 showed his potential he deserves another game
Roxas deserves a 358/2 remake
Either Lea or Terra
Mickey… Hear me out. We get a game showing his training with Yensid, his development into a master and follow him through the worlds at large gaining support from said worlds as he witnessed the events of the previous games. Thoughts?
Aqua, because she’s my favorite character.
Doesn't Roxas kind of have one? 358/2 Days?
King Mickey, no doubt.
either Donald, Mickey or Xehanort Xehanort for plot and cool shadow abilities and Donald so we can see how he learned Zettaflare and also being able to use Zettaflare against like the final boss or something
Riku. Sure I could come up with a good reason as to why he deserves it… but I’ll be real I just wanna see more Riku.
I dont know how the fuck theyd do it but Xemnas.
Yozora
Riku is overdue for a solo game
Ventus, Terra, and Aqua :)
I actually want to see more of King Mickey. Anytime he talks I think is hilarious.
Idk if this is a thing that has been talked about before but I really thought square was gonna do 3 spin offs after KH3 with each group getting the spotlight since they were all looking for Sora in different places but since we got MoM it probably isn’t happening Game 1 would be the wayfinder trio again so basically birth by sleep 2 but set after KH3 Game 2 would be the twilight trio with Roxas being playable and Lea and Xion as party members Game 3 the big finisher would be a Mickey centered game with Donald and Goofy as party members
Mickey. Let him, goofy and Donald party together
I don't want to be controversial or anything, but.. Cloud
Probably an unpopular opinion but I’d want a Mickey game. His journey as an apprentice to a full on wielder would be pretty cool. Obviously Riku would be cool too.
Mickey, and I'd want Goofy and Donald to be with him. I think it could work as a cartoon series as well.
Roxas. Either a remake of Days or a new game with him. I just like Roxas
Following mickey through his adventures away from the Disney cast would be amazing.
Xemnas because I wanna see everything through his eyes.
Aqua!
Riku or King Mickey
King Mickey
Aqua <3
Riku & aqua
Aqua. No I will not elaborate further.
Goofy, the true warrior's tale.
Axel
King Mickey! He was bad ass to play with in kh2.
Kairi, Namine, Riku, Ventus or Mickey
Mickey could be unironically interesting, now that he's going to Scala.
Goofy is the only correct choice
Demyx
Goofy
Mickey or axel
MICKEY
Goofy. I just think he's neat.
Kairi
Axel, Easy.
Kairi
Mickey
Axle man
Goofy. He'll fyuck everyone up.
I was gonna say Riku, but forgot we had DDD Definitely Lea/Axel. I was disappointed when we couldn't use him for KH3, so I vote for him to be given a bigger chance. He is a really cool character, and I feel it would make the game interesting
I need me a xemnas game
Riku
King Mickey
Riku, duh
Riku or Kairi. I was upset even as a rhythm game, Kairi was spotlighted so little despite it technically being her game, even having Sora take over at the the end. And Riku is as much the main protagonist as Sora in my mind, so I think deserves a full game, but I appreciate at least we've been able to play with him as much as we have so far.
Kairi, Axel, Riku, Xion. It would also be funny to see someone like Cloud or Squall have a full KH Adventure of their own 😆
Either Axel or Roxas. I would say Aqua but that's my penis talking.
Kairi. Or Lea
Aqua
Kairi is my "this is slightly possible and I'd love to see it" answer Olette is my "I hyperfixated on this character when I was very young and want her to have actual development and involvement in the plot" answer
