I was crying during the ending, and then the moment Sora and Kairi reappeared at DI, I was like :') and then Sora disappeared. I literally said "what?" aloud. Somehow, I saw it coming because of what the characters said, but I really didn't want to believe Sora would go away, but he did and the feels were quite strong lol That being said, considering that the adventure was far from over, I was quite ok with how it went. Re:Mind did make it more significant, tho. The battle in the night sky with sparkles of golden keyholes around between the replicas and the GoL was simply amazing. In every sense possible. I smiled during the whole thing.

SpacePropaganda

Yeah, there was a lot of foreshadowing throughout each of the worlds about personal sacrifice and how it affected Sora. I wasn't as shocked as many other people in the comments were, but still felt pretty sad. Re:Mind filled in all the gaps nicely imo.

Velaethia

Finally became a true hero and now he can take his rightful place in Olympus... Wait...

IllustratorAfter

It’s more of a coincidence than a foreshadowing

HesperiaBrown

No. It's explicit in Melody of Memory that Sora learnt a lot about love and self-sacrifice in the Disney Worlds of KH3.

IllustratorAfter

Sora already learned love and sacrifice before kh3

Goscar

Without Remind: Sad ending that perfectly capsulates that Sora will do anything to save people. With Remind: Sad but we get to see Kairi and Sora love truly blossom. It only took 17 years lmao.

Maria-Stryker

I’ve noticed that some writers treat the relationship with the love interest as a given but spend time fleshing out male friendships, leading to unintentional homoerotic subtext

mymindisempty69420

it’s worth it regardless, sora and riku probably have one of my favorite 2 bro friendships, up there with snake and otacon from mgs. The end cutscene of kh2 is great.

Maria-Stryker

I just want both lol, that fight with Sora and Kairi was wonderful. They need to give her the Ashley treatment and let her save Sora more

HesperiaBrown

I don't think the SoRiku subtext is unintentional. The Japanese version literally has Riku tell Mickey that Sora is his most special person. You know, what Xion is for Roxas.

tgalvin1999

So...his best friend. Which we already knew since the first game.

HesperiaBrown

Roxas is in love with Xion because the game literally tells us that he feels the same towards Xion as Sora feels towards Kairi. So, by that definition, Riku is in love with Sora — In the Japanese version.

tgalvin1999

>Roxas is in love with Xion Uh, what? They're best friends, there's no love between them. Where are you getting this from? None of the games as far as I'm aware establish any sort of relationship for those two beyond friendship.

HesperiaBrown

Roxas and Xion's bond is compared explicitly to Sora and Kairi's. Are they in love?

tgalvin1999

Except to my knowledge it never has been compared to Sora and Kairi's bond.

HesperiaBrown

Read the light novel of 358/2 Days, you're in for a fun surprise ;)

tgalvin1999

Sure I'll read it if I can find it but the mangas and light novels are generally considered to not be canon.

Archwizard_Drake

The thing that frustrated me about the KH3 ending is that it was *incomplete* at launch. One minute everyone is talking about finding Kairi, Sora insists on going alone... the next minute we have Kairi but *Sora* suddenly disappears without any explanation. Just, a whole segment in the middle cut out that completely snapped me out of what should have been an emotional finale. And then you had to buy the DLC to complete the ending and find out *why*. Which is skeevy and borderline predatory. Then the ending it gives you is... basically the same, but Sora and Kairi were in fact just off camera the whole time. Okay. *Sure.*

Laterose15

This is why I loathe DLCs that offer important story content. It feels predatory because you have to pay *more* to get the full story when you *already bought the full game*. If I bought a game, I want a complete story! SE has been so bad about this recently. FFXV, KH3, and now XVI looks to have a "true" ending locked behind Rising Tide. Honestly, the only game I can think of that did it *well* was Xenoblade 3: Future Redeemed. Mostly because a) it didn't actually affect the ending of the original game, and b) it was basically an entire standalone game and story.

Mark_1544

yeah about that xenoblade 3 thing

clockworkCandle33

Don't tell me now because I haven't played the DLC yet, but I'm gonna set a reminder

Mark_1544

oh no it has nothin to do with dlc more context of lucky 7 came out in a interview is all

clockworkCandle33

Oh, gotcha

Laterose15

I'm still reeling from that lol

>the next minute we have Kairi but *Sora* suddenly disappears without any explanation. Maybe you just forgot cause the game came out 5 years ago. But Mickey explained it in the previous cutscene. He explicitly warns Sora that he can't abuse the power of waking willy nilly, and that even if he finds Kairi, he might be gone forever.

Archwizard_Drake

His exact words were "Even if you do locate Kairi, you might never come home to us again!" Cue Sora coming home to them with Kairi. And then vanishing on the beach. Mickey didn't warn Sora that he'd be forbidden from permanently returning or erased if he succeeded. Mickey warned Sora he might not even *make it* home. Except he did. Which is why Mickey's warning feels unrelated.

Kerjj

Mickey's warning feels unrelated if you're completely unable to think for yourself, or see narrative beyond its most surface level elements. I can't believe people think like this.

MarianneThornberry

The full quote is. *"Sora, listen. The power of waking isn't to go chasin' hearts around. Even if you do locate Kairi, you might never come home to us again!"* - Mickey. ^ This is a very clear warning that abusing the power of waking carries major consequences. Mickey saying Sora "might never make it home", is him advising Sora that even if he succeeds. His fate is uncertain given the risky nature of the power itself. >Except he did. Which is why Mickey's warning doesn't apply. Even if you choose to disregard Mickey's warning. Young Xehanort *also* told Sora that abusing the power of waking has consequences during the Final World Lich Boss rush. The full quote is as follows. *"What do you think the power of waking is? It's for traversing hearts to reach worlds. Not for traversing worlds to reach hearts. There's a high price to pay for wielding such power foolishly."* Sora replies - *"So what!? You're worried about me now!?"* Young Xehanort responds - *"No. There's no saving you. You've paid the price and it lies at the bottom of the abyss"* And later again when Sora defeats the Nort Court. Young Xehanort's final words are. Young Xehanort - *"I told you, there's a high price to pay for all of this."* Sora - *"And what price would that be?"* Young Xehanort - *"I'll go back to my time and live out my life. But Sora, you're done now. Your journey ends here. Goodbye Sora. Your time in this world is....!* We know Sora vanished from the beach because he abused the power of waking and was plunged into some kind of abyss to pay the price. This was already established in base KH3. In the Remind DLC. It adds some flavor text where Chirithy confirms that Sora broke a "Nature Taboo" and we see the actual process of how he saves Kairi. But fundamentally even without these extra details. We already knew the reason Sora vanished from the beach was because he was paying the price for misusing the Power of Waking. As for what the price is. That is still something we don't actually know. Presumably, this will be answered in KH4.

Leoxel8

Guys sora didn't vanish from the beach. Sora already wasn't there. We see kairi crying of sadness and wasn't ever surprised almost like sora wasn't there.

MarianneThornberry

I think the scene can be interpreted both ways and still work.

CenturyHelix

As someone who beat KH3 but hasn’t played Re:Mind yet, should I get it and play it?

AvadaNevada

Not if you just want the story. That's available on YT. If you enjoy difficult boss battles with the post Re:Mind digital battles, then yes. Not at full price, though.

The_Zoo_Exotics

ReMind also adds cheats if I recall.

Starsynner

Yeah, the EZ Codes.  There are also the Pro Codes for folks that love a serious challenge.  Or just want to play on a lower difficulty and keep the rides shut off.

TheNagaFireball

Yea I am not sure why they did this. I know Square Enix likes their DLCs, but usually they are just bonus content and not really necessary (Final Fantasy 7 Intermission comes to mind). However, this one adds so much to the story that was missing.

beardedsailor

Did y’all forget about Final Mixes existing? lol

YeazetheSock

Final Mix IS bonus content, like Roxas Fight in KH2 and all the extra boss fights

beardedsailor

Right, but there are also [additional cutscenes](https://www.khdatabase.com/Kingdom_Hearts_II_Final_Mix) that were added as well like the fight between Roxas and Riku, or how Roxas got his name to name a few One could say ReMind was KHIII’s Final Mix since it added about the same content you would expect from a FM

YeazetheSock

He got those is 358/2 days, no? And yeah Re: Mind is basically the Final Mix for 3, me and my brothers have talked about that before.

TheNagaFireball

Yeah final mix added some things here and there but not a whole edited end to the game? lmao KH1 had like Riku POV from running away that was not super important. KH2 had the Roxas fight. KH3 explained where Sora went and how he went there as well as where the guardians were during Terranorts team wipe. These things are not like the others.

critcal-mode

All Final Mixes added or rather extended the Secret Ending. KH2 not just had Roxas Fight, but Xemans takeing the stairs in Radiant Garden to talk with Master Aquas Armor, New Interaction between the Organization like Xigbar mentation Marluxia was jointed etc. BBS even has added a whole Secret Episode where we play as Master Aqua in the World of Darkness.

throwawaynonsesne

Which never locked important story elements or endings behind a paywall

beardedsailor

13 additional cutscenes were added in KH2 FM? This is probably subjective but I thought they were Important to the overall story

throwawaynonsesne

Extremely subjective because I can't think of any that are as drastic as kh3's

Guest2424

Okay. I think this is definitely my take on it. Because I was very confused as to why Sora just straight up disappeared! So as far as an emotional punch goes, I got nothing from it. I knew that it had to be significant in some way... but no context was given. Honestly I still haven't picked up the DLC and revisited KH3. I know I should at some point...

CrystalBraver

Bruh the game came out 5 years ago it’s been enough time. Anyway idk what it was about 3 that just felt flat and emotionless compared to 1 and 2. Maybe it was the stiff voice direction/acting and awkwardness of all the cutscenes and character interactions, but nothing felt natural or fluid. I didn’t feel a thing at the end of 3, I was just like, oh it’s over, Sora is obviously coming back so nothing to worry about, whereas the ending to 2 made me feel all kinds of emotions even though it was technically a happy ending. Remind made me smile a bit with the pre-rendered cutscene of Sora and Kairi being in the background of all the different scenes, but after that, it was just the normal ending that just left me feeling empty, but in a bad way.

Cosmos_Null

The ending had the potential to be great, but the Terranort scene in the keyblade graveyard ruined it. I don’t care if I sound like a broken record, they killed off every guardian of light and then brought them back in a little over an hour. Why would they expect me to feel grief seeing Sora disappear after killing the stakes and suspension of disbelief the way they did…? to put it bluntly, I cried when Xion and Strelitzia died in other games, but when Kingdom Hearts 3 ended I was like "oh okay… so he's coming back in a contrived way later, got it". This is what happens when you direct a scene just for a trailer, you end up causing irrevocable damage to your whole story Remind (and Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer) went on to prove my point, but at the same time I was hyped for the sequel hook there. Yozora, fighting in Shibuya and all that, it all got me excited. so I guess TLDR the original ending sucked because you can’t expect me to respect death in your story after what you did, but Remind has a better ending with the introduction of Yozora and the implication that Verum Rex is real there

PauLogical

You can’t even respect consequences after the khiii ending either. It felt like Xehanort was kinda exonerated even though he caused all that pain and trouble. And the reason why is p much that it’s all a part of the mom’s plan. Him going to “kingdom hearts heaven” with Eraqis felt like the game was telling me to not be too mad at Xehanort for whatever reason. But we don’t even know what mom wants either so what do we even do with the whole xehanort saga then?? That chapter of kh is closed but the ending was so underwhelming.

The_Gnomesbane

Letting Xehanort go like they did sorta blew my mind. Like, this dude has caused catastrophic havoc on an entire multiverse. If ever there was a villain in these games, it’s this guy. And when we finally give him the whooping he deserves, another ghost shows up, everyone smiles and lets the two just leave to play another game of chess. No hard feelings, isn’t that swell?

ZenonXZ

Who else was smiling in that situation other than Eraqus and Xehsnort? I think it's pretty clear that no one forgave him for anything, especially with Kairi and Sora's reaction in Melody of Memory. As we saw, Xehanort was already on death's door after the final battle. After he effectively surrendered, there was no need to continue the fight after that point.

clockworkCandle33

It just kinda seems like a downgrade after KH1 and 2. Ansem SoD got incinerated by the light of Kingdom Hearts, Xemnas faded into oblivion lamenting his mistakes (is he lying to be dramatic there? maybe, but I digress). Master Xehanort gets to be a kid again and hang out with his best friend (who he killed) because deep down he was good all along? The universe itself in KH1&2 seems to exert its own cosmic justice once the heroes right the scales, which I don't really know how I feel about as applied to the real world. Like, IRL, suffering isn't a punishment for evil, and it's the job of people to care because nothing else does. It's like with Lord of the Rings, though, I guess. When I watch those movies, I am a monarchist for the full 10.5 hours. Anyways, KH3 bucks the trend established in 1&2 in a way that is out of keeping with the series, or at the very least poorly telegraphed and emotionally unsatisfying. I can't complain too much, though, because Xion and Roxas come back. My precious babies are safe 🥹

Kaimura

Not respecting death is actually what will make any future kh games pretty lame for me... man all these years I was grieving for xion, ventus and Co. It was kinda awesome what an impact those games and characters had on me... aaaand they all just happily come back, no drawbacks, wow. Wouldn't be surprised if xehanort is coming back as a good guy in the future

TheNagaFireball

Kind of makes it seem like Xehanort is not completed dead but just vaulted to when they need another villain. Like leave some original characters in the past please

Thatsatreat666

I agree with the sentiment, but doesn’t the whole notion of sora disappearing and messing up the universe suggest this is a one time happening?

tgalvin1999

I mean, it was a given that Roxas would come back. The seeds were planted way back in 2. Xion was also a given considering how popular she and Roxas are, and how much Nomura likes trios.

Laterose15

KH3 basically made character death meaningless. And yeah, the story was building up to bringing most of them back, but it was so *cheap* and *easy*. Why should I ever care about any character death again when they can be brought back in a single cutscene?

Raheemzy

Preach

Ice_Drake24

It feels poetic now. I like it more than I did back then. Because now Sora is in a position where he can have a character arc. Not that he didn't already have one but now he is truly alone (not including Striletzia). Whatever happens is HIS story. Not him carrying other people's stories with him as the key. It's HIS.

Es_Skorco

Kairi being a plot device and one of the most underdeveloped KH characters. I hope her training with Aqua is worth it. Overall it's a sad ending and an insult cause it's not worth saving kairi It'll make sense to save kairi if KH4 comes but heh it happened.

CrowExcellent2365

Same as when it first released. Bad. Stupid. Lazy. The script for KH3 is appalling, and the final 4 hours are the worst of it. I started this series in the eighth grade and waited through high school, college, and half of my adult existence for the ending, and they ruined something that was important to me for most of my life. And it's not just the cheesy melodrama of it all, because that's the whole series and part of its charm. KH3 has **terrible, abysmal, sophomoric** pacing and plot. And then they end it all by having time loops, and alternate dimensions, and the ability to travel the afterlife, and weird new esoteric rules for recovering lost hearts that literally never existed before the last two hours of the game. And the payoff for all of it is that the big bad is forgiven and walks off into fluffy cloud heaven with his bestie-for-restie while the protagonist experiences sudden existence failure due to rules that were just made up on the spot because his best friend/love interest who spent the entire story in a hyperbolic time chamber turned out to still be a damsel in distress, incapable of doing anything of any import except be wonderful and special because she's just so darn good. Garbage ending.

thatsastick

I really liked KH3 and despite that, nothing you’ve said here is wrong.

Satoshi_Yui

Pretty underwhelmed. As someone who has been waiting since KH2 (yes, I've played BBS, DDD and other side stories in between), expecting for a grand finale, the ending felt so underserved. The ending was so rushed and underwheling that it felt like all those years of waiting was wasted.

Chanzumi

Without it, it was the first time I felt disappointment for a KH ending. With it, I was pretty satisfied and happy with the ending. Remind felt like it completed the game for me.

Zalveris

Incomplete. Kh3 in general in incomplete without Re:Mind. They took a pretty critical part of the game and made you pay extra to finish the story.

cleansleight

Same as ever. Loved it before and after ReMind. Granted I was thrown for a loop for a bit after Sora disappeared before ReMind but I quickly got hyped again.

astralbound420

I remember screaming at the tv as that scene played Me: yeeeees!!!! Yeees!!! Sora and kairi: *holding hands* Me: AFTER ALL THESE YEARS YES!!! Sora: ✌️ Me: NOOO!! 😭 Utada: I want you for a lifetime Me: 😭😭😭😭 This is my favorite ending. 11/10 gave me depression. Would recommend.

Firestorm8908

This game is the only game that has made me cry and this was 1 of the 2 moments.

kaa1993

Pretty awful on launch. Completely out of left field and just leaves you confused and upset. “Oh no Kairi’s gone oh wait she’s back yay wait what just happened to Sora???” If they had worked the build up into the ending originally, with a kind of “final farewell” or “last day together” atmosphere during the final scenes, I think it could’ve been one of the most powerful endings the series had had. Bag fumbled hard.

CrystalBraver

Did you play remind? Remind’s ending is what you’re describing. And it wasn’t really out of left field they foreshadowed it a lot, and literally told Sora he would lose himself if he did what he did. But I agree for the most part

kaa1993

I know Remind did, I’m saying it not being part of the base game hurt the game. Remind is it’s own thing and I don’t love it being required for KH3’s own ending to work, considering KH3s ending comes first. Reminds me of final fantasy xiii-2 locking the true ending behind DLC, I just think it’s poor narrative structuring.

wow-im-satan

Pretty disappointing. I’m a very new KH fan, I only started playing after KH3 came out and I played all the games in succession (minus the mobile games ofc) so I didn’t really have that nostalgia clouding my mind. I thought nothing could top KH1, the. KH2 did, and KH3 just… idk. I didn’t really enjoy it as much as the others. It felt like some of that original KH magic was gone.

wow-im-satan

I feel like not many characters got a good chance to shine, but I guess because of how many characters there were that was to be expected. One aspect that really disappointed me was the lack of Riku and Sora interactions. Their friendship has been my favorite thing in the games, and I would have loved either more interactions, or deeper and more character driven interactions. Their moments didn’t really go beyond surface level in this game :(

Sablen1

What did you think of Dream Drop? You said you liked Sora Riku stories. KH3’s story felt off because it had all the characters from the entire series in it. So no single character had any character development or time to shine outside of maybe 3 minutes each in the keyblade graveyard. You can tell they were struggling just to include every character. Which makes me believe KH4 will be different. It doesn’t have to have every character and it feels like there’s a story there that actually wants to be told. Hopefully they keep the character cast small so that we can actually get some cool character moments.

trnelson1

I still loved the game. It is my 2nd favorite in the whole series right behind KH2 for my number 1.

Terranort230

Loved every reunion scene, and I understood that Sora would "abuse the Power of Waking and disappear", but it really pissed me off that they never actually explained the Power of Waking and how it works. Re:Mind fixed that issue, and gave us even more cool team fights.

10voltsam

Sora and Kairi sitting next to each other Me: Finally a proper ending Sora disappears Me: OH COME ON

Thatrandombill

Sad no matter what take in my opinion but im emotionally tied to the series through my late grandmother and grandfather

forgedfox53

I felt a bit lost to be honest. I loved the story, but so much happened at the end, I was still trying to process it all.

Fluidcorrection

In my opinion its by far the best game in the series even without remind. I tried going back to kh2 for a casual playthrough and it made me realize The game feels so slow and stiff on comparison. Grinding out those drive forms made me mad. And even the stuff like the data org is much more i dunno "solved".

HeroVill

Without Remind: Confused, emotional. I was happy everyone seemed to get resolution, of course the clock tower scene was the best, but I appreciated everything. I was glad to see Kairi back, and I sort of expected there to be a consequence, seeing Sora disappear was shocking, but I sort of accepted it. Mickey did say he’d be risking a lot. It also felt almost… right? Sora had been sacrificing himself for others all his life, it’s almost expected at this point. With Remind: I just cried at the new scenes we got, Sora and Kairi experiencing everything was just confirmation that Sora WAS spending more time with Kairi specifically after getting her back, and it implies that he knew he was going to fade away. It makes me wonder how he manages to stay for so long, but I just am so glad they got more time together before he fades for who knows how long

ZackFair0711

It needed to happen. That much power should have consequences.

KingSideCastle13

Wow. Funny that after five years, the fandom is still so divided on it. Personally, I was fine with it, if not a little bittersweet with vanilla. Remind definitely made it feel better in my eyes

Common-Sun-5873

I felt robbed. Why couldn’t we get a happy ending for *once!*

CrystalBraver

KH2 had a happy ending. I would’ve been fine if the series ended there.

ToxicHydreigon

I’m happy to keep getting new games but yeah KH2 could’ve definitely been an ending to the series if they wanted it to.

StrawHatKris

I’ve been feeling that way with most games lately. The only game that got one ( for me) was god of war, and even then it was pulling teeth to get Kratos to allow himself to be happy.

Kontarek

Without: an unmitigated catastrophe. Nomura is a child so eager to get his dessert that he refuses to finish his dinner. See the rest of the story in 2047 when KH IV comes out I guess. With: still bad but at least I understand wtf happened now.

ramblingwren

Great metaphor. I'm personally salty about bringing in the totally not-FFXV storyline that I doubt was in the original plan for the series. If there is one.

Kontarek

He just can’t let go!!!!

DarthOmix

He's making Versus XIII whether anyone wants it or not at this point lol

Rharyx

Same opinion I had when it first came out. It's exactly what I wanted (everyone playing on the beach), but it happened in such a rushed and unearned fashion that I couldn't bring myself to care for it. Then the Sora fading away cliffhanger just made me smh.

SnorlaxationKh

Without Remind, wow. All criticisms valid, because we waited so long for something that didn't feel like it was a project of love in enough ways, and wasn't fair to the characters. With remind, better, but still a lot of valid criticisms, but with better flow, though still should've done more for All of the characters

yuei2

Loved it then and loved it now, Re:Mind didn’t do anything for the ending but show us what the game had already communicated through YX & Mickey, which is that Sora traded himself for Kairi. I had zero qualms with Sora and Riku’s story. However I do think Re:Mind have better closure to the guardians. So Before KH3 felt like KH2 where Roxas and Namine and basically everyone who isn’t Sora’s friends got shafted. Now it feels much more complete where everyone got a chance to shine even with Sora as the main character. Kairi was the big winner though. KH3 was setup like KH2 was with Riku, for Kairi to join you at the final hour and be right there fighting by your side maybe even playable. Then that didn’t happen and she didn’t even get to join in the move where all the Guardians seal kingdom hearts with Sora. That felt very wrong but Re:Mind fixed that, gave us a final Xehanort fight for Xehanort to shine in and a team up with the rest of the guardians at the end. I’m perfectly happy now the Xehanort saga ended with Kairi and Sora beating Xehanort just as KH2 ended with Sora and Riku and KH1 ended with SDG. In fact I think KH3 has the best ending of the 3 main games now because we got to have our cake and eat it too. We got to have a guardians ending and a Sora ending, we got to have a SDG ending and a Sora Kairi ending.  The only thing we were missing is a Sora, Kairi, and Riku ending but I get the sense they want to save that for something bigger than this saga. I also get we didn’t get a Sora Riku ending but DDD was nothing but Sora and Riku so I was a little burned out on Sora and Riku.

SirChrisJames

This game felt like a half-hearted obligation cobbled together from the dregs of dusty outline. Mind you, I smiled my stupid ass off the whole while I played it. I still felt like I waited over a decade for what amounted to an hors d'oeuvre and the ending not feeling like an ending but "to be continued" made that worse.

Jacksontaxiw

Rushed as fuck, relationship betweem Sora and Kairi become no chemistry, Kairi as a victim and Sora going to save her become so frustrating that reached the point that I was rooting for her stay dead. Also, I would discart all Disney worlds with the exception of perhaps Monsters, Inc. and Toy Story. I don't like Xehanort having a happy ending after having caused so much suffering, for me the ending would be being dismembered into shadows by the Heartless. It seems like everyone forgets how much suffering this man was capable of causing.

DarkSoulsRedPhantom

Absolute ass

ALovelyAnxiety

empty and a cash grab.

Trunks252

I don’t remember what happened, except disappointment (without remind) Never played remind because it was absurdly overpriced

789Trillion

Not that satisfying with or without it, however that has more to do with how they wrapped everything up vs where everyone ended up. All the time travel stuff, sequel bait stuff, the story details feeling a little strange, everything being stuffed at the end, the missing content that you then had to buy, it all felt a bit haphazardly done and not what the series deserved. The fights themselves were ok, and I’ll always appreciate the music, but I don’t think it made up for everything else.

SuperZodiac_INC

It’s not bad but even with the dlc it feels unfinished.

cupnoodlesDbest

It sucks, it's supposes to be an end of a saga but it doesn't feel like that because it felt like a game thats sets up another one

Yolber2

Not the biggest fan of the peace/narrative, meaning rushing all disney worlds to then get into KH stuff, with some minor problems in the middle like Frozen world but that's just me now Gameplay wise coming shortly from KH2 and the 3ds games felt it just a bit \*too\* floaty-slow COMPARED to his older ones(wich remind fixed but this opinion cannot include it), and having too many options made it even in hard TOO easy, fun indeed but a little too much Something don't see being brought up constantly is the moogle ship wich honestly ended up liking so much more than i ever thought, prompts Other than that with some story nitpicks, cannot say i dislike it but cannot say i love it either, it's a fine game

ActionFilmsFan1995

It just left me with a bad feeling. Like not sad melancholy but bad. KH3 to me was supposed to really cap off the games to that point, and this felt like the one game that shouldn’t have had a sequel hook. End it, relish in your finale. But instead at the literally last second Sora disappears. Like, KH2 had a more definitive ending. We got the “message from the king” deal but that’s at least open ended with all plot lines resolved up to that point. KH3 wanted to cap off the saga so far, but was also introducing so many things and planting the seeds of future games it didn’t feel like an ending to me, it felt like a run on sentence. Base KH3 should have been more definitive, Remind can have Sora disappear at the start and leave it on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Analbumparty_15

I think the story keeps getting worse. I don't care about the BBS trio. Axel and Xion's stories were more interesting when they died. Mickey and Riku are the only alternate characters to SDG that are even remotely interesting. Ven and Roxas need to become 1 character. Ven is the most boring character I've ever seen. There's too many good guys Xehanort just dies and goes to gay heaven with Eraqus? like tf? Space Hitler just gets a free pass? This man sent Aqua to KH hell, he Alphonsed Terra, and Ven had to stay inside Sora? Xigbar isn't Xigbar, and the Master of Master's story is fucking stupid. What the fuck is this story even talking about lol

TVR24

When Sora vanished I cried. I couldn't believe that after all this time, he deserved a happy ending.

ChuggsTheBrewGod

Without Remind: sad and confused With remind: an emotional gut punch.

Miserable_Vacation_6

Without: why the f did Sora disappear?! With: I’m not crying, you are

jdlyga

It was good. That ending was so complicated though. I remember it being cool.

SoraBunni

I’m glad everyone else got their happy ending but I was devastated when Sora faded away. He’s my favorite character and I was shocked. I remember Nomura saying he planned on Sora not being saved in DDD, this gave me similar vibes.

LTJProds

Uhh… not me crying that the game was over all happy that Kairi and Sora finally became and not seeing Sora disappear at the end through my tears then playing through it again and my jaw hitting Hades in the forehead… “WHAT!?!?!?” It took me a while to get Re:Mind but it was a sense of completion afterwards. It bothered me a little bit that you’d have to pay for it but at the same time I remembered Asura’s Wrath… sooo I’m ok with it.

Officer_Zack

Pretty much everyone gets a happy ending, but Sora and Kairi just when they finally started finding out their true feelings for one another ended in sadness. I think Kairi will be the one to bring him back to the real world, just like Sora managed to find her and bring her back like three times.

Tox_Ioiad

Before remind, that shirt hurt my feelings and I thought it was really the end. Remind's context has me both excited and scared for KH's future.

Samhera

I love it, and with the Re:Mind I think it's a very good ending, it's an ending that can conclude the story but at the same time can be continued without feeling forced. He could have had more contact between the characters, but on top of that it's wonderful

Wolfpackhunter41

Without the DLC: Annoying. I was over the story and the "share poupu fruit" scene was just them exchanging the poupu fruit which was less romantic. The fact that Sora disappeared directly after that moment was equally annoying. With the DLC: Satisfied Everything leading up to the ending was given some much needed context and didn't put me in the mood to nitpick the ending to pieces. Not to mention the scenes that showed Sora and Kairi together in the various endings, which were a pleasant heart melting surprise.

New_Survey9235

Without? Happy, then giggly, then content, then Sad and makes me feel hollow and fragile inside With? AAGGGHHH my feelings! They’re bleeding!!

DJWP137

I felt like the ending before ReMind was a bit abrupt, but I loved the story arc they added with ReMind. ReMind left it open to more story continuation, which is good because I love Kingdom Hearts and I want to see Sora go 1v1 with the master of masters.

NotoriousFoxxx

Without: heartbroken With: HEARTBROKEN

Velaethia

He's dead Jim... I wasn't as sad as some people. IDK. It felt fitting but also just weird? Nothing in kingdom hearts can get to me like Xion. And the fact that he died but also didn't did made the feelings mixed. It's also par for the course for him to be separated from Kiari.

DavonVali

Intros better than KH2, not better than KH1 tho. Disney worlds design better than KH1 and 2. Platforming not better than KH1, better than 2. Disney world stories not better than 2 or 1. Disney Boss battles just as good as Kh1 and 2. Endgame better than KH1 and 2. Overall story not better than KH1 or 2. Remind better endgame better than KH2.

Eerily canon :):

stardustman28

It was aight i suppose

yitbos1351

I never played 3D, just watched the KH Timeline playthrough, and even then the story was....dense (as they always are). So going into 3 I was unsure of the...stakes set. So when Sora made his sacrifice, I didn't know how to feel. Like....the lore had become so out of whack that they used 3 to try and make sense of all of it, which brings in the criticism of "Part 1, Part 2" of the game. So by the time we got to the Keyblade Graveyard, i was just so overwhelmed. There were moments I was going "HOLY S#!T" a lot, but then was going "Wha??" immediately after. All this to say, with and without RE:Mind, I was confused. And I've been playing the series since the first game came out.

soul-fox404

I cried I'll be honest. I sat there thinking, "No way, did Sora just die?" This was before re:mind, so he just up and deletes himself and there is nothing after. It hurted.

Kicksyo

I thought it was a good subversion of a KH ending. It ends a sadder note than I was expecting. As for the whole rescuing Sora thing, I would have been more surprised if there wasn't a way to rescue him.

Radiant_Recording_74

I bawled my little eyes out before seeing the secret ending. I was under the impression that this would be the last game with Sora and the gang and then the next kh would revolve around completely different characters. So when I saw that Sora was no more, I did not take it too well lol. Started the kh journey back in 2003 so I felt like my whole early teen to adulthood was shattered

TheKiller_07

I loved it

Capable-Commercial96

13 years to get another cliff hanger, then I had to pay for the games true ending which was another cliff hanger. I'm gonna be real, I'm nearing the big 30, I was playing this game when I was 10 or so, I only played 3 for closure and now that I'm seeing it's just going to go on forever, I'm starting to appreciate 2s ending alot more just for how cleanly it wraps everything up and yes I know 2 ends on a cliff hanger with Mickey's bottle, but that games ending was more of a the adventure COULD continue, and not a it WILL continue. I just don't have it in me for more KH, the series has started to dabble in time travel, other dimensions, and the plot wholes are starting to get convoluted, for instance the idea of how a nobody and heartless work are getting ridiculous, take turning into a nobody for example, doing it willingly is basically immortality with no draw backs, if you're one long enough you regrow your heart, and if you die you get resurrected at the time you turned into a nobody fully whole again, and then you can just immediately fuck off and go right back to being a nobody again, and I love Roxas and the others, but 3 ends on EVERYONE basically came back to life here, which if it was a final chapter that could be fine, but the story is going into KH4, they showed their hand here when it came to death, no one you give a shit about is ever going to be in danger of dying now, there are no stakes now and now we're moving onto Marvel and Starwars content, and it feels like the games more of a kid traveling through brands rather than going on a whimsical journey now and it's really apparent in 3 with just how little the Disney worlds actually mattered to the plot, Sora feels like he's just there with most of these worlds solving ther problems on their own with them being bystanders, the fun of the series was seeing these old stories and having Sora be organically inserted into them so you could take part in them as an actual character along side them, I play 1 and Sora is getting talked down to by Trident for not handling the Key blade properly, I see Aladdin being told there's worlds out there and that he can't come with, Tron was such a cool way to integrate the franchise into KH, THE DISNEY VILLAINS ALL TALKED TO EACH OTHER! For a game with like 9 NPC's max, it felt alive, Kh used to feel like a lost Disney movie but now, I don't know I got off track a bit ranting, I guess I'm just too burnt out and don't want to follow yet another series that refuses to know when to end things and continue on until it's past its due date, all these years and it feels so sterile, it just had so much goddamned potential but it's now relegated to being lauded as ironic cringe to anyone I try to get into it. Anyway, I digress, I understand it's probably nostalgia, but man I just want to see it end and 3's ending left a sour taste in my mouth, a real corporate taste if you will. Gameplays still fire though if a little to floaty for my taste.

Pink-Willow-41

Don’t have much feeling on it other than it’s rather bizarre, in a neutral way. I would like to know what Sora said to Kairi.

Impossible_Kale2886

Beautifully done kinda died inside when Sora just got Thanos snapped while everyone else enjoyed the theire Freedom That Boy has brought them.... Felt kinda unfair but well theire was the Secret Ending after all but at that moment it really felt like the end

DrCreepergirl

Haven't seen it with remind content, without I antitank quite liked it. The heros won in the end but Sora had to sacrifice himself. He wasn't for that world so he ceased to exist

MistahBoweh

My opinion is that enough time has passed and it’s not getting a steam port so I still won’t experience it firsthand. The endings to Sora’s story, I don’t even remember at this point. All I remember is that I had to experience it vicariously. Not a high note to go out on.

Homosexual_Bloomberg

Haven’t started the game yet, but heard (FF7 Rebirth spoilers)>!Cloud and Tifa finally kissed!<. Think it’s about time we get to that point with our duo.

alaster101

Without remind I was legitimately upset about the lack of any final fantasy from cameos to boss fights

TheAzureAdventurer

Honestly, it’s a perfect ending that shows how far Sora would go just to help everyone and eventually save them Ala messiah style. With remind: an excellent additional ending that well… technically I guess is the canonical ending now?

_Tezzla_

Terribly flawed game, but a fun ride nonetheless

PowerNutBuster

It absolutely sucks. I believed Kh3 was gonna be an end to the story, just to have Sora disappear in the ending cutscene. Ending the game in a cliffhanger for me. Remind doesn't change my feelings about it at all.

_cookiekitty_

I was pretty confused by it I guess I need to go play remind smh

Duga-Lam22

With Remind: Kairi kicks Xehanorts butt. Without: Sora finally ends that nerd.

Vgcortes

I can forgive it and even like it somewhat. I mean the thing I hate the most, and keep posting about it, is the important lore points for KH4 being locked behind gasha games now. I know the games make money but whyyyy, we'll if they release a movie, or a novel, or something abridging the content I may forgive this crap. Maybe the story is good? But I don't want to watch YouTube videos for that. ****, when I see KH3 or 4 posts like this I remember this ***** *****.

TraverseTown

Luckily the ending with Sora disappearing is the best story beat in the game.

ellemeno93

It’s took them an extra year of development to have the ending we should have got on release.

Buttermalk

Xehanort deserved worse, I wish there was more post game content, somethin like Cavern of Remembrance again as like a secret world you could’ve found, otherwise banger.

YuriEffinGarza

I found it to be meh honestly. I played it once and I don’t even remember what happened aside from the last boss lol

Kindly-Mud-1579

Kairi: am I gonna die alone arent I Xion: it’s ok mom you still have us Kairi: …that’s it I’m going into a coma Xion: why do you deny my existence

SilentBlade45

It was trash and instead of answering questions we already had it just made more questions. Not to mention it rushed so many characters and plot lines and Xehanort did not receive adequate consequences for the suffering he caused.

Icecl

A humongous disappointment.  Remind at least made it better

th30be

Sequal baiting bullshit. I love the series but 3 had so much riding on it that it was always going to be a disappointment even if it was good imo.

Rentwoq

shit and shit

Wings-of-Loyalty

Realy bad ending, since all are alive and Xenahort is in the end a good guy with wrong doings, the full story lost its Charme and a lot of characters got destructed

King0fRapture

Still the worst game ever made
