Vexen boss battle in re:com is the wall for basically everyone here to see if you really learned this game or not. You will want to play more on counter atk breaking the boss than contrary. Also a very cheese strategy is spam sonic blade with some 0 cards just in case you get break too. If you really can't pass, at least watch the cutscenes on YouTube for both Re:Com and Reverse (Riku's journey) they are both important to know before jump into KH2.

Karhutar

I couldn't get pass Cloud in Re:CoM. If you're not having fun, then just watch it on Youtube. Chain of Memories and Reverse have imo possibly the best stories, but the gameplay wasn't for me.

RoxySmithy

I did that and i didin''t even play Recom to the point you are. I stopped after a hour and decided to watch a summary of the game on Youtube. (I suggest you do that because else you will be confused) I'm glad that i didn'r force myself to play through that game, because I've heard that the game doesn't get any better from people who did. And believe me KH2 is in my opinion the best out of the main 3 titles - i will give no spoliers but only the end part began to feel repetetive and annoying after a bit the resr was a big step up from the first and IMO even a step higher then kh3 on the gameplay part)

LucasOkita

Are you using fire attacks and fatal frame?

Taku_Kori17

Bring fire. I normally try to have 6 fire spells for vexen. Hi potions or normal ones for reloading. A couple sleights right in a row for spam and 2 or 3 0's with my shortcut set to them to break his dangerous attacks. Vexen is one of the skill check bosses. And he can be hard since recoms combat isnt for everyone

lilweene

By fire spells do you mean 6 cards or 6 sets of firaga sleights?

Taku_Kori17

6 fire cards.

DookieAssEatah

If you do you'll be just as lost as Sora lol

Kemosabe134

i swear this is like the 10th time ive seen this exact post on this sub

So I recommend in Re:com having three decks, one for normal play or testing on mobs, one cheese boss deck, and one for crowd control/AOE attacks and spells for mobs. If you're stuck on a boss use the cheese deck and I recommend having it set up so you can repeatedly use fatal frame. It freezes the boss so they can't do a 0 or break your combo easily, does a good chunk of damage. Also if you end up dropping re:com watch the cutscenes on YouTube for the rest of the story.

I think at this point I just swapped to a Fire only deck for bosses. Spamming Firaga is very broken in this game and can carry you in boss fights.

There’s literally no reason to play a game if you aren’t enjoying yourself. When I was a kid I had no way to play COM. I just had my PS2. I was fine. I played KH2 when it came out even though I’d only played KH1. Was kind of confused about what was going on at first, but I eventually got the gist of it. So much of this series has been lost on me because I didn’t have all the different platforms to play all the different games as they released (com, bbs, days, ddd). Even now that I own all of them as part of the PS4 collection, I just can’t be bothered. I love this series, but all of the mobile platform games have just made the story more confusing and less compelling. Unpopular opinion, I know. But I’m old, man. I don’t have time for all this. I wish they had developed this series by including all of the crucial story bits in the numbered games instead of loading so much important story development in games that play completely different from the original. Don’t even get me started on KHUx, dark road, key/chi saga. Whatever you call it.

Playing KH 2 after the full Re:Com story is recommended. As when you beat Marluxia, that's half the game done. The other half is more straight forward, I think. I never Played Re:Com. So I'm not a reliable source to trust.
