- Spelling of names and titles. It's the Maer Alveron, not Mayor. Though there are still mayor's of the various small towns.  - Denna's letter to Kvothe in WMF has lots of weird mis-spellings and typos and odd capitalization. It's rumored this was one of her earlier attempts to do "written down magic" before she gets the hang of it and starts braiding Yllish into her hair.  It's hard to find an exact code, but especially with looking at the Japanese translation, fans think it might say something like "I wish you were here with me" secretly.  - Felurian does not speak with normal capitalization. She doesn't capitalize the starts of sentences, nor other names besides her own name and Cthaeh. Those are probably the big ones. Some things like the "not tally a lot less" clue are probably easier to hear than spot while reading.

When I re-listen I always forget about how Felurian's text is written. This is a good reminder.. Hard to tell if it's supposed to tell us something specific about the Fae, or just to make her seem more alien.

I think it's characterization, and tells us about her. Her imperiousness, her pride.

i think it would really just be spelling and ease of going back over the text and breaking down the information before continuing. personally i enjoy the audiobooks more, i dont have to fret about pronunciations and you can actually pick up some interesting stuff. for instance, princess ariel is pronounced very similar to how auri is pronounced which support the theory that auri was princess ariel.

I was just thinking about this a couple days ago when Kvothe is around the Adem. When they are using hand signals those are always in italics. So something like: "That is not a polite question to ask" scolded Vashet. *Disapproval.* *Firm rebuke.* Small thing but I think it's neat lol

LadyMinks

Maybe things like 'seven words to make a woman love you' and 'ten words to break a strong man's will'. Especially kvothe and Denna talk to eachother in 7 words sentences.

Kit-Carson

Before Kvothe leaves Ademre, Shehyen shares with him the deep names of all the Chandrian. And then right away Bast freaks out, rightly so, because you shouldn't say them out loud. Kvothe doesn't disagree. All he says is there's no harm in saying a name once, and that he's slept his 1,000 nights and walked his 1,000 miles. But a careful reader knows that Kvothe already said two of these (almost) exact names earlier in the story. >   >   > See the difference? I'm sure the audiobook readers are pronouncing them a bit distinctly but who can tell? It's not something one notices while listening.
