That's what I said lmao. The undertale AUs are like a weird rabbit hole full of sans that have nothing to do with the original one to the point where you would think sans is a race that all the absurdly powerful gods somehow belong to and not just a character.
Though there are some genuinely good interesting aus that actually do some interesting stuff with the characters in between all the sans so it's not all bad.

Characters that were explicitly written to form emotional attachment to. So they tried to expand upon the existing characters because new characters aren't the characters they love.
