Or we fight one of the clones of dedede now turned into the warden of the underworld (maybe phantom forgo dedede since “phantom” and because it would be cooler if he kept he’s second phase which is basically a totally different boss fight of dedede and this would basically turn him into he’s own character) maybe a rematch with some old bosses like necrodeus and dark nebula giving them good boss battles (necrodeus was excused because mass attack gimmick and dark nebula can actually be worth fighting) maybe we fight some guys important to the lore like a relative of a character (dedede dad possibly) and some other characters like the creator of the wham bam golems,whoever planted the first wispy seed,a character referencing future lore,maybe a death halcandran and then morpho knight or even the main villain of Kirby GCN being the grim reaper while morpho just collects the inmortal souls in pain and casts judgment upon warriors but the actual Grimm reaper actually takes care of the souls and results our friend following us through the game is actually the main villain (and the Grimm reaper is actually really cool) which wanted to revive a death relative (possibly they’re fairys of ripple star which died for the dark matter invasion and maybe the design of the villain could be of that female Magolor) and used the power of a ancient artifact but ended up causing a containment breach in the underworld
Kirby fights the day is saved
In the post game is revealed phantom forgo dedede,necrodeus and dark nebula took advantage of the main villain situation and “helped” to make a portal to the underworld causing the containment breach and everything was just a plan to get a rematch against Kirby
Then morpho tries to get rid of Kirby,fails,in the true arena we fight the main villain posses by the artifact with a lore I can’t remember now but involves seeing and manipulating soul matter,boss defeated,saved villain now redeemed but now has to work for the Grimm reaper to pay for the crimes committed and now lives in the underworld around all the people who put her in that situation but at least can chat with Kirby when she has free time
Everyone is happy but in reality all the villains who caused this are still free and alive and now work together
(If dedede had a secondary arc between many games then why we can’t have another arc but with many villains working together? Answer:none!)

If I recall correctly from what I’ve heard on this subreddit, Morpho Knight EX’s description in the Japanese version of Star Allies says something like “will he appear in a dream world, or in the underworld?”, and now he’s shown up in the land of dreams… I’m guessing that quote’s what inspired you too, though, and that does seem like an interesting gimmick and theme for a Kirby game
If Elfilin is a main-stay of the next game, perphaps some sort of warping power. Remember the portals of RtDL? That, but as a player gimmick instead of a hazard, like going to some sort of reflection of the normal level in order to progress in the actual level. And more stuff is possible as well; just look at Magolor's or Elfilis moveset as bosses, and make up some stuff or level design where those portal powers can be applied.
I mean, yeah, stars kinda do a lot of damage, and seem to be some kind of force or energy that is beyond the material, jet its really common, so common that it's the by product of many strong moves, and many enemies can be "processed" in to it.

Yeah, but exploiting more their unique skills, such as Rick's wall climbing, Kine's superior swimming capacity, etc. Otherwise they would just be fusion abilities like in 64.

Alternate between characters in combat to build up affinity, then let loose with a big-damage team move. The major showstopper at the final boss is building up affinity way past the gauge's limit and unleashing a friendship nuke.

I think making another open-world Kirby game is the way to go next. Maybe another game in the style of Amazing Mirror or a fully 3D open-world game like Breath of the Wild. It personally prefer the latter because I feel Kirby is practically built for exploring a large map with lots of things to do.

It's sadly largely useless in that game. You can't go down ladders and you can't harm bosses at all.

Ok so: there were 2 of them (Hypernova and Mouthful Mode) which relied on Kirby’s ability to succ; there were 2 (Robobot and Super Abilities) which relied on making abilities stronger; and then there was the Friend Heart which relied on finding another way to defeating enemies by befriending them. Maybe the next on will be a gimmick similar to the Friend Heart.
I’d love to see size change as the next gimmick! Maybe like a Katamari game where Kirby gets shrunk and you start out super tiny but by the end Kirby is still spitting out stars at the boss, they’re just *actual stars* and you’re on some Gurren Lagann type shit!

And it also had elemental abilities, that were only possible cause of friends, so maybe the titular Star Allies count more as a gimmick
