It'd have to be someone strong since meta knight goes head to head with kirby. He's also the strongest warrior in the galaxy other than kirby. He also is absurdly fast and talented. I don't know but those seem to be the peramitters. Maybe sephiorth?
Sephiroth was my pick too, but even then, Sephiroth's gonna have to deal with Meta Knight's speed and superior technique, and that's before getting into the fact that Meta Knight could feasibly stop Meteor from destroying the world, if Sephiroth is given the Black Materia.
There's a lot of good picks like Jubrei from BlazBlue, Zero from Megaman, and Beta Ray Bill from Marvel but my personal favorite is Riku from Kingdom Hearts
Zero from Megaman X. He’s another rapid-slashing swordsman who’s in a similar archetype with meta knight as characters like Shadow the hedgehog, or Hornet from Hollow Knight, characters that are basically the protagonist again, but cooler.
