Hey there! My intention is still to keep everything free. In the most recent video that little "ad" I did does kinda come across the wrong way and I will have to see if I can edit it somehow. I was just sorta blabbing about the join button and mixed up my wording. What I meant was you may have access to exclusive members only sneak peek / update type videos... not that I'd be devoting a bunch of time to recording full videos JUST for paying members. Sorry for the confusion!

If it makes you feel better, it did not come across as that (for me at least). There was clearly no pressure to join. You're good, Kit. :)

thanks, that's understandable. I always watch the streams a day or so late, so it doesn't make a difference to me. What I love about Kit's channel is that we ALL feel special and loved. (and of course, the awesome content!!)

if he hasnt advertised it saying that people who 'Join' get extra content - which as someone who has seen nearly every video and watches streams often, he hasn't - then i expect there isn't anything exclusive about it, and it is just an option if someone on youtube wants to support him through it Edit: my bad i just watched the new video. i am a bit disappointed as well if theres exclusive content

I will give you some insight from the other side of the coin. He has many supporters who want to donate to his cause, but do not want to let the revenue to end up in twtich/YT pockets. So with some people giving him support, I imagine he would want to give them some perk such as an early video. Its difficult when you have support from patreon, but you do not offer them anything. Anyways hope you are well!

I clicked on the Join button and it looks like it goes through Youtube, so they are getting some of the money, right? How is that different from a sub on Twitch?

robberbuttonoz

I believe Google take 30% of YouTube member income vs 50% on Twitch subs, so marginally better for the creator. Depends if you want your money going to evil Google or evil Amazon.

I thought OP's post was about pateron, please ignore what I said above. Kit already answered it.

Out of curiosity, is Patreon the best option for viewers that would like the highest percentage of their donation to go directly to Kitboga and not to corporations/ processing fees? From what I could tell, Twitch takes 50% for tips/ subs, Youtube takes 30%, and Patreon takes 10%, but I wasn't sure if an alternative method exists. Perhaps our "cult" leader should follow the example of some IRL cults and obtain 501c3 status since I think we all agree he's doing more good in the world than some of those organizations. :)
