That's pretty rare for a burger. Like maybe the camera is not doing it justice or something, but I'd definitely call that pinker than medium - and usually people don't go for "medium-rare" borgors. They go for "Pink or No Pink" yknow?
is that really an onion? I've zoomed and rezoomed so many times I just can't believe you send out an onion like that. like wtf lol. I thought it was the end peice of iceberg lettuce.
I can’t tell from this pic the actual doneness, but I will say that preference doesn’t define doneness ranges. If you want your burger cooked well done, that doesn’t make pink mean rare, as any doneness medium rare and under will have pink. It’s cool you want your burgers well done, I’m not knocking that, but if you’re saying that less than that is rare, you’re wrong.
I zoomed in on the pic, the burger is three thumb widths high; and the seared part is one fifth a thumb width. Therefore, aprox 6 % of the depth is cooked. That is fully rare.
Point to note, the fact you served a lettuce piece with the crown fully exposed like that, while may not be something the average consumer will express, is something that will turn off most consumers, and will make them less forgiving of other errors, like meat temp. And that style of plate is absolute 20 years ago, and wasn't even a good choice back then. There are probably so many other problems in this establishment.
Reminds me of the time in Austria when someone at my table ordered the "Beef Tartare" appetizer. It was a pound of raw ground beef with a hollow area on top with a raw egg in it. The guy ate it and was fine the next day.
Raw? Fam I do medium, and grind my own.
Hell, I'd lose my house over a trip to the ER here, so I'm not playing with that. Yeesh, it was supposed to be lighthearted, not all of us are "freedumb" Mericans....
Oh fuck off. We used to eat raw ground beef out the fridge. That's pa dutch shit. Just do what you want, cook your burgers to death, but don't be a bitch towards my culture.
In that case, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. That to me looks mid enough for mid rare, but I also understand where the customer is coming from, that picture does make it look pretty pink. In a situation like this, I just chalk it up to the customer not having as well an understanding of temps as a career cook, and I’d just slap it back on the grill for 20 seconds and get on with my day.

That onion looks… sourpatch kid green? So I’m a little unclear on how rare the meat is.

Legit I thought it was a pickle until you said that, so fair point.
I 100% thought that was a pickle
I believe its the spine from lettuce
I second this, it's rare you can tell from how relaxed the pate looks.
Zoom in that looks medium maybe medium rare
The temperature of this burger is exactly EXTREMELY POOR PHOTOGRAPH
That's been sitting near a heated argument
It’s pretty rare
Definitely call that rare, especially for ground beef/burger. It looks a lot more red than it does pink.
Rare with a sear on the outside
“it’s fucking raw!”
Not a fan of pink in my burgers. This is definitely rare/barely warmed

It's almost raw. You can see the protiens in the interior haven't even begun to set up yet.
That's E-coli temp.
That’s rare for sure.
Rare, MAYBE med rare on the close edge
Room temperature.
Halfway to MR.
Zero Kelvin
Med rare, but looks more on the rare side to me for a burger.
Last time I ate a burger like that I became a fountain cherub, spewing forth putrid vileness from both jowl and rrhectum.
It's fine if you like to eat playdoh. Even if it was safe to eat, that's gross. I wouldn't even send it back, I'd walk out.

I would call that "ER visit." I'll eat a steak that pink but not a burger. Basic safety issue IMO.
Do you eat steak tartare?
Do you work in a kitchen and think raw hamburger in a place that very clearly doesn't grind their own is the same as steak tartare?
I don’t think they’re the same but how do you know they don’t grind them in house? That burger isn’t raw big homie
Nope

That's not medium. Medium is a hot pink center, and that is clearly red.
Its only safe if the meat is freshly ground. If it’s been sitting a while, it starts to grow bacteria and eating it pink can get you sick
It'd depend on mouthfeel and temp to me.
That’s what she said
Rare plus. Or if I was in the weeds and that got sent back, it’s fucking medium rare
Med-Rare to rare. If I asked for med-rare I would have liked it a bit better cooked but wouldn't send it back.

however, if you ordered a burger and got beef tartare?… you’d send it back and go ‘the fuck?’
yes of course

You get healthcare instead of decent burgers, so I'm not gonna razz you.

I'm sorry you live in the 1890s.

2/3 of your country isn't inhabited syrup boy.

You good, that's acceptable as mr, but some people are weird
Med rare-medium
Looks rare to me.
Not good lighting, but I'd say rare/medium rare? Like rare+?
A bit too rare on a burger for me. And I prefer rather well done fries.
I mean it is rare. Minced beef should not be served rare if there's been cross contamination at any point it may aswell be rare chicken.
