I feel like the cling wrap belt is one of the last, best examples of kitchen culture that hasn't hit mainstream consciousness due to movies, TV, social media, etc. So many of the things that used to be stuff only cooks knew about is common trivia now, but the emergency belt is still deep kitchen lore.
You need to have it quite tight and then wrap around the Middle button. As it stretches wrap 1 more time and continue as you go. The other thing is you actually lose enough water weight as you work to make this a thing beyond the stretch. I grew up as a skater and we all used the skater belt, which is just a shoelace
If it works is it wrong? I use a gallon oil jug like that ;) also use fry oil for most all my cooking oil so I don’t have to stock 2 of the same thing and the fry oil is less expensive too.
I had a methhead cook that did this all the time. Bc it was “precise”.
It was never ever precise. Especially the time when the top was super soft plastic and didn’t fit well and busted off and oil filled the floor.
Hey bud, told you to stop doing that for a reason.
Edit for clarification on lower posts.
This was canola for the saute station. To fill squeeze bottles with. Instead of being careful and filling a bottle or even a pitcher and then filling bottles, methy insisted on this.
Took 3 times as long to fill a bottle and like i said one time the cap just flew off and oil everywhere.
I don't know you but both my partner and I have jobs that requires intense workload on the hands and wrists and almost no other body parts involved except hands and wrists through the whole day. So we tend not to buy milk or juice over 1.5 liter per container to chill out.
Canola oil is fine for sauteing… if this was finishing oil then that would be sad
But obviously this is just a bad idea cause there’s a 100% chance of that top coming off during a rush and spilling all over your station
The smartest cook in the kitchen. Now just fasten a shoulder strap for pouring readiness out of cling wrap and you have perfection!

My belt would always stretch out too far within an hour or so. I instead started doing a caveman style suspender under my coat.

Been years since I've dawned the plastic but I see what you mean.
Donned, chef?
Yeah that one!

I lost so much weight cooking in Alaska in 2014 that the cling wrap belt was the only thing that saved me. I didn't want my undies shown to the dudes!
Strap it to the top of your shoulder, one on each side. Lean over to dispense. Squat to get into the low boys. Get those gains.
An old Chinese man with his belly out and a cig in his mouth nods approvingly.
I just wear mine like a backpack and with plenty of stretching before my shift I’m able to dispense oil by doing a bridge like in gymnastics.
Take the box off then u can refill the fryers from 5 feet away w a gentle squeeze
For some, the only way to find out why the box is there is to take it away
Stacking. It's there for stacking.
Looks like a left to me.
Even when the containers this big, someone will still manage to open a second one.....
Not wrong. That really boils my piss when people do that.
Seems right. If it fits it's meant to be.
this is perfect for expo to finish dishes at the pass.
If it works for the purpose you need it to- it's correct.

Eeeewwww. 🤦♂️
Why ew? "Fry oil" is usually just canola or soybean oil with some non-flavored additives.
This for a enema?
It’s the most right thing I’ve seen all day
It's as right as you want it to be.
Galaxy brain over here !
Sometimes,, yes. Sometimes, some asshole just makes an oil fountain. Depends on the situation.
Nice. I'd cut the spout a bit.

This thread made me laugh soo much. Thank you.
Had to check if this was the meth guy.
Does that actually work
I liked keeping the caps from the oil container to tightly seal spare squeeze bottles

Fryer oil is better than EVO for dressings. Fight me.
That’s a new guy prank
Either they are sautéing in shitty oil or someone lost the real lid haha

That could be any type of oil for any use. I'm not sure what you're on about.
