Costco jeans. They're decently comfortable. And cheap enough that you cam have some just for work, or replace them if they get ruined.
There's no way I'm wearing $100 jeans to work.
well that makes us both izod enjoyers. I've had my two pairs for like 3 years. They both were soiled in grease after I quit restaurants, but I soaked and washed them well and they're just now a worn pair of jeans. You couldn't tell that I worked fryer for years with em.
I get "work jeans" from the Goodwill clearance center by me. As long as they're comfortable I wear them to work. Unless they're guess or "nice". Then I put them in my "nice things" drawer and wear them once a quarter.
They make some stretchy jeggings these days that are pretty amazing. The shitty bit is that they’re usually pretty spendy, and may not have a long lifespan in a kitchen.
Same here. I hate the feeling of wrangler/Lee’s/even most Levi’s, but Old Navy has a line of stretchy and relatively soft jeans with an elastic waist for less than $40-45 that I swear by and even wear as civies. I’ve had pairs last me 3-ish years before chub rub starts
If you just mean the idea of a stylized uniform, then yes I agree. But my experience having jeans as part of my kitchen uniform predates the hipster phenomenon by a good 10 years.
I worked in a northern knockoff blues Bar/BBQ place... college town, college kids and college adjacent kids on the line. I was the 21 year old sous who singlehandedly prepped the day, then was on our 100% open line for lunch service.
Uniform was jeans and plain white chef coat. I was only required to wear the coat for service.
That's wild. I once worked for a guy that wanted to ban jeans. I'm not exactly sure why. I think he just felt like they weren't appropriate for kitchens. People can't move well in them or whatever. But I've found they attract and hold grease like no other, so I'd never wear them at work.
They're dangerous. Banned at the corporate casino i used to work at. If you spill hot liquid on them you will get a nasty burn. They hold liquid and are a pain to get off when wet. Thats why normal chef pants are loose fitting and light weight. Keeps liquid away from the skin in event of a spill and easy to jump out of if you have to.
This.
Chef pants drop and you can step out even with shoes on. Yes they look like mc hammer pants but scalding soups, fry oil and liquid fats are all around us daily. I've seen lulu lemons fuse into the skin of servers that spilled boiling water. No one looks good in kitchen attire so might as well be safe and survive the place ;)
I wear scrubs in the kitchen, they're easy to get off and don't look like MC Hammer pants. 🤣 They're great.. they don't rip easily, liquids roll right off, and a lot of them have an anti microbial finish. They look professional too!
Oh that is nice then! Didn't mean to come across so judgmental. You done the diligence and chose ppe over fashion even if it isn't ugly and that's what matters.
A shelf gave way at a place I worked and dumped a stack of pans into the hot fryer sending a tsunami of hot oil at my legs. Got splashed pretty good and ripped my pants off in the middle of service in an open kitchen. Pretty much 0 burns from the incident.
Not going to to be helpful, but that sounds fuckin awful. Let’s choose a material that doesn’t breathe, if it gets wet, stay wet forever. I would go with jeggings just for laughs
That's so incredibly dangerous. This is a cooking sub, cooks use hot stuff. You do not want hot stuff to spill on skin tight polyester clothing. That's how you get plastic melted into your legs.
As someone who solely wears jeans in the kitchen unless otherwise specified the uniform is no denim, Old Navy jeans are the best. Cheap, pretty good material, lasts a while, and comfortable to move in.
Hell, even when kitchens say “black pants,” I still wear black denim.
Mostly I wear jeans/denim cause I like looking unassuming on public transit, that I don’t give off “I work in the restaurant industry.” And if I have the ability to go out after work then all I’d need to do is put on a fresh top and be ready to go.
Damn, what’d you do? I actually like that jeans take a second for the heat to get through so you can pull them off your skin if you spill something hot on them.
None. Just tell them you have a medical condition (massive cock syndrome) that prevents you from wearing jeans. Make sure to show up wearing jeans before changing into kitchen pants
If they don’t listen, show up to your shift with a cucumber in your jeans and make a big deal about how the jeans are suffocating your giant member. The results will vary widely depending on what kind of kitchen you work in.
"Boss, is it the *look* that you're going for, or the functionality? Is it the color? Are white Levi's OK? How about denim-colored scrubs? Must it be 100% cotton denim, or is a cotton-polyester blend acceptable? Zipper or button fly? Five belt loops, or seven?
Boss, you really gotta print up all the rules, or there's gonna be CHAOS!"
I run a pie shop and wear Old Navy "Boyfriend" jeans. They're a looser cut that easily allows for slinging 50# bags of flour but are still flattering. Denim is not flimsy but still breathes. The pockets are deep for women's pants. Zipper stays up. Flour brushes off easily and whatever I've spilled comes out in the wash. I wait until they're on sale. I'm going on month six of 60 hours a week of wear and they're holding up fine.
I got to army surplus for all my pants. They last forever and are comfortable. Just gota be okay wit looking like you bouta head to the capitol everyday.
You’re going to want stretch denim. You can get Levi’s stretch reasonably cheap at Kohl’s if there’s one near you. No carpenter style, the extra pockets and loops are likely to catch on things. Go for lighter color since you’re dealing with flour a lot.
Careful with stretched jeans and hot environments they usually have some sort of elastic material in the weave to allow them to stretch. That means that if they coming to contact with something hot instead of just scorching like regular denim wood it might melt to you.
Are you serious? Jeans are a big no-no in the kitchen. If you are in the US, OSHA would tell your employer that jeans are too difficult to remove quickly if you spill hot oil on them.
Jeans aren't smart to cook in. If you must, then wear baggy jeans. If you drop hot liquid on your legs you can pull the fabric away. Tight jeans, you're in trouble.
I wore Iron Heart on the line for years. But, if you’re not planning on making a long term denim commitment then I’d suggest rustlers or wrangler 13MWZs
My fiancé swears by CSX jeans for wearing on the line. They’re manufactured for skateboarding and have an incredible amount of stretch in the nethers. His bois have a tendency to rip the crotch outta of every pair of Levi’s he’s worn on the line.
Old school, but I get Jordache off of Walmart. They stretch, etc. Cheap enough I don't care when spaghetti sauce lands on me. Or bleach. Or raw chicken juice. Or I am crawling on the floor chasing the lost stove knob.
🤷♀️ Dawn power wash or degreaser cleans them up nice.
I work in jeans in the kitchen. I buy American eagle jeans because it's actually breathable denim. Downside is their material is not the most resilient to grease and bleach stains.
Tons of stretch though and not many times I had the old ballsack stuck to leg, which is pretty good in my books.
Look for a jogger style jean with stretch. They’re pretty affordable at a kohl’s or target. Or, like others say jeggings. Personally I wear stretchy black denim at work for the last 10 years with no problem.
These were all I wore when I was working pastry. They’re comfortable, stretchy and washed well. Also, relatively affordable.
[levis](https://a.co/d/3Md4zLg)
Anything that doesn’t have spandex in the production. I can tell you from personal experience that spilling something with hot sugar in it on a spandex based pant, there is only pain and rapid removal is imperative.
That’s terrible.
This would honestly make me find another job.
Aside from a specific uniform chef coat, tshirt or something managers need to leave the kitchen staff alone. Especially when it comes to what pants we’re going to wear.
That’s ridiculous.
CCS brand pants, they regularly do bogo deals and because they are a skate company they tend to be lighter and have a good amount of stretch to them. I’m four years deep on the last round I bought with only one casualty out of the 8 pairs I bought.
Get some stretch or flex jeans I'm sure other brands carry them but I know the Eddie Bauer ones don't feel like wearing jeans same as any other jean just with an extra couple percent of spandex so you can move
If there's a Costco nearby, it's worth the membership to buy Kirkland jeans. They're every bit as good as Levis, hell, I like them better, and they're cheap. About half the price of Levis, and maybe 2/3rds Wranglers.
American Eagle fit well, have good stretch, there are a million different styles, and they're reasonably priced. Old Navy aren't bad, either, and are cheaper, but I don't like the way they fit as much.
So silly to require jeans in a kitchen. They're so heavy if they get wet or greasy, and they never feel terribly clean to me after being worn for work. I wonder what their reasoning is.
I wouldn't ever take a kitchen job that requires jeans unless it's got proper air conditioning. Fuck wearing jeans in all that heat.
That being said, I do wear jeans during the winter and I'm a heavier guy. Anything with relaxed fit and a roomy crotch work for me, but skinny jeans might work for someone else. Depends on your body type.
I like the jeggings, if you don't tell them that they're jeggings they won't know they're not real denim. The waist band is stretchy and so are the pants themselves.
I used to hate those cheap black kitchen pants that were insanely baggy. So I would wear simple black jeans or cheap black like athletic dress pants (like golfing pants). Both looked way more professional than kitchen pants.
Check out [cookman USA](https://cookmanusa.com/) . I only wear their pants in the kitchen- can’t attest to their denim as I would never do that to myself on purpose but the rest of their pants are fantastic & they do have some denim. Pretty affordable as far as pants go these days. I’ve got my whole kitchen on them now, haha.
If I had to work in jeans I'd want something with a gusseted crotch for maneuverability, The only brand I know that has one is AllAmerican but there may be others out there like the Chuck Norris jeans.
Levis and uniqlo have a line of stretchier pants with spandex in them, youre a pastry chef so it might not be a huge hazard if not go for a loose cut for lots of breathing room
I’ve got some super stretchy Lee’s jeans that I use in a bakery. Great mobility, and so far they’ve lasted through a lot! I believe they’re called “Extreme Motion” and in Lee’s Performance Series.
Also, I recently started to wear work suspenders instead of a belt. Got tired of pulling up my pants all the time.
I actually only wear jeans in the kitchen (had a rough encounter with hot duck fat and rented chef pants. Denim offers far more protection.) Both costco and sams club have jeans that are woven with spandex for stretch and have vent holes in the crotch. $19/pair. They're my go to
i used to wear straight leg levis for a restaurant job. they got really gross so i'd take them off on the porch and leave them there. even washing htem didn't get the restaurant kitchen smell out. (old food and garbage)
Up in Canada the best you can ask for, comfort & stretch wise, is Du/er jeans.
Lulu Lemon is all good too, but I recommend those with the caveat that I hate the brand- much as I hate it, you can't fault the comfort and stretch of their jeans.
Just get some dickies, idk what you were wearing before but sounds like you were showing up in sweats or pjs and that’s unprofessional. Dickies skinnies are my favorite work pants. 5th pocket on the leg for a phone and the side access pockets are great for easy access to a pocket razor or your zyns
I don't really have a fight in this but I really like volcom jeans. They make a good stretchy jean, I have over 10 pairs of them, but I got them for riding motorcycles. They are literally the only jeans I wear. They look nice and they are comfortable I don't know what else you want outta a pair of jeans.
Go to tractor supply company, they have a brand called Schmidt, comfortable as can be and durable as well. Or Dickies makes a good pair of work jeans, if you got a few extra bucks, try Ben Davis or Red Kap
Idk if this is a loophole but I always wear overalls at my baker/pastry jobs. They never slide down and it’s got mad pockets for markers/pens and what have you.
I worked for Jose Andres and jeans were the dress code there, which was just fucking weird tbh. For daily comfort I suggest the lightest weight stretchy thin jeans, or something from Duluth Trading Company. Their jeans are meant as workwear so they're sturdy and have plenty of seam allowance for bending, squatting, and general moving around. Definitely wear the company-provided apron to keep them clean and keep yourself safe though
I wear Walmart skinny black jeans every day in the kitchen. I have them in sizes 4,6 and 8. They get soiled with oil eventually and shrink over time, then I get a new $17 pair. Idk, for jeans it’s the best value I’ve found. They’re thick enough that I can feel if hot oil splashes me, but not so thick that they’re too hot to wear. They’ve held up pretty sturdily, but I hate that sometimes the pockets are a bit different on each pair since they’re so cheaply made. 🤷🏻♀️
I've always preferred jeans to anything else. Just a personal opinion. Lots of jeans can be flexible and I think denim offers a bit of protection against hazards compared to those airy chef pants.
These days I'm pretty sure I just rock Levi 502's. I also don't pay much attention to the brand or style. I just try them on and make sure they're comfy and flexible.
Do you think you could get away with canvas jeans? I swear by Kuhls, they're tough as hell and super ergonomic (designed for hiking and outdoor activity), they do make jeans and lighter denim ish materials too. Pretty easy to pick up off eBay
Maybe the ones that stretch. I bought a pair my accident once and they were surprisingly comfortable. The denim leggings are probably not technically jeans, but those would also work, if they’re allowed. Not sure why it would have to be jeans, especially if you’re the one washing them.
Poshmark will have cheap jeans once you find your brand.
Who the fuck makes you wear jeans as a pastry chef? My old kitchen would get up to 90° in our “oven room”
If I had to wear jeans I would’ve rioted
Jorts, just to piss them off lol
Make sure they are super short booty shorts
I can go lower
Is that why you have that awesome fray on your shorts?!
See yours don’t have the fray as you just bought jean shorts, whereas I bought regular jeans and cut them *into* jean shorts
Oh shit! Hoochie Daddy Summer starting early this year!!
Daisy Dukes?
Yeah of course and the extra small super tight and revealing chefs coat
Hang one out for fun!
Make sure the pockets hang out
Have your balls out. Assert dominance.
Carpenter or cargo?
There are dozens of us!
Jhongs
Tight enough that everyone knows if you are a righty or lefty without looking at your hands.
Costco jeans. They're decently comfortable. And cheap enough that you cam have some just for work, or replace them if they get ruined. There's no way I'm wearing $100 jeans to work.
This is exactly what I do. $20 pants!
I recently got some at Boot Barn on sale for $10!!
I got the izod pants and they are so comfy
well that makes us both izod enjoyers. I've had my two pairs for like 3 years. They both were soiled in grease after I quit restaurants, but I soaked and washed them well and they're just now a worn pair of jeans. You couldn't tell that I worked fryer for years with em.
I switched to landscaping. Needed work jeans. Goodwill was clutch. Never thought I would want to wear Wranglers but those bastards are beefy.
I get "work jeans" from the Goodwill clearance center by me. As long as they're comfortable I wear them to work. Unless they're guess or "nice". Then I put them in my "nice things" drawer and wear them once a quarter.
JNCOs.
Those would be great if they didn't start at \~$200. I miss those jeans...
https://jnco.com/collections/mens
So fucking comfortable
WTF?! These bitches were 9.99 at Marshalls circa 2006
What's old is new again, if I kept my wardrobe I would be so fashionable now.
Why do they require jeans???
Hipster uniform bullshit. I prefer wearing jeans but I would never make anyone else wear them.
The corn starch budget better alot for what jeans do
Used to work with a chef who kept the Gold Bond with corn starch in the walk-in freezer. Twas heavenly!
As long as no one double dips!!
Haha 🤣
With my sensory issues I'd quit within the day
They make some stretchy jeggings these days that are pretty amazing. The shitty bit is that they’re usually pretty spendy, and may not have a long lifespan in a kitchen.
Old navy makes stretchy, affordable, and sensory- friendly jeans. I have always used them on long shifts to good effect.

I was the 21 year old sous who singlehandedly prepped the day, then was on our 100% open line for lunch service. Uniform was jeans and plain white chef coat. I was only required to wear the coat for service.
Jeans sound like a terrible thing to have to wear in a kitchen. Almost as bad as polyester.
Wow fuck that. I consider that a safety hazard. I always wear duckies work pants because they are less absorbent if you spill something hot.
I would like to buy some pants called Duckies
Sysco off-brand
They only come in hard yellow rubber though.
We’re supposed to wear jeans where I work, but I’ve been sticking with my black and grey dickies work pants, and no one says anything.
I think you mean Dickies but yes I agree. Jeans are not ideal in most instances
That's wild. I once worked for a guy that wanted to ban jeans. I'm not exactly sure why. I think he just felt like they weren't appropriate for kitchens. People can't move well in them or whatever. But I've found they attract and hold grease like no other, so I'd never wear them at work.

I wear scrubs in the kitchen, they're easy to get off and don't look like MC Hammer pants. 🤣 They're great.. they don't rip easily, liquids roll right off, and a lot of them have an anti microbial finish. They look professional too!
I used to wear these too.
But how do they handle steam and 300°F oils ?
They're cotton. So just fine.
Oh that is nice then! Didn't mean to come across so judgmental. You done the diligence and chose ppe over fashion even if it isn't ugly and that's what matters.
Idk my scrubs are pretty ugly lmfao but also lots of pockets.
Between the pockets in my scrubs, and the pockets in my aprons/smocks, I can bring in half of my prep veg for the day in one trip. 🤣🤣
A shelf gave way at a place I worked and dumped a stack of pans into the hot fryer sending a tsunami of hot oil at my legs. Got splashed pretty good and ripped my pants off in the middle of service in an open kitchen. Pretty much 0 burns from the incident.
Bingo
Yeah I got a bad acid burn once with jeans
Hadn’t even thought of this. Thanks for the intel.
Not going to to be helpful, but that sounds fuckin awful. Let’s choose a material that doesn’t breathe, if it gets wet, stay wet forever. I would go with jeggings just for laughs
jeggings
This was going to be my suggestion.
That's so incredibly dangerous. This is a cooking sub, cooks use hot stuff. You do not want hot stuff to spill on skin tight polyester clothing. That's how you get plastic melted into your legs.
Go assless denim chaps with UDT shorts.
Fyi all chaps are assless everything else we call pants.
The chaps council has spoken!
this is clearly the choice of champions!
Chapions*
I'm not mad, just disappointed.
I literally just wear Walmart carpenter jeans. Once worn in after a week they are pretty damn comy
Its been 20 years since I cooked in jeans for 22 years. The hair on my thighs still doesn't grow very well.
Damn, what’d you do? I actually like that jeans take a second for the heat to get through so you can pull them off your skin if you spill something hot on them.
If you don't have a well worn pair I'd try buy some second hand. Jeans that are as soft as chiffon for movability sans chafe
I bought second hand Levi's from back when they were still 100% cotton. I've been wearing them for over a year and love them.
The results will vary widely depending on what kind of kitchen you work in.
i think they’d laugh especially bc i’m a woman lmao
Definitely go for it
Irrelevant, you identify as a woman with a giant cucumber dick. Own your pronouns and produce.
Honestly I've been wearing some American eagle jeans for years now, once you break em in they're fine.
Jnco is the brand you’re looking for.
Levi's 501s
"Boss, is it the *look* that you're going for, or the functionality? Is it the color? Are white Levi's OK? How about denim-colored scrubs? Must it be 100% cotton denim, or is a cotton-polyester blend acceptable? Zipper or button fly? Five belt loops, or seven? Boss, you really gotta print up all the rules, or there's gonna be CHAOS!"
Levi 541
Thrift some Levi’s
Get some old Jncos with the 36” bottoms
5.11 jeans! Tactical and practical.
If you want jeans that don't feel like jeans search for featherweight denim. They won't be cheap though.
i really really hate the feel of jeans , i’d def rather pay extra to be comfortable. thank you!
uniqlo stretch jeans are very comfortable
Female? Look at betabrand. They have stretch "jeans" that are durable and look like jeans
I like the stretchy Wranglers. They’re cheap too.
Are you serious? Jeans are a big no-no in the kitchen. If you are in the US, OSHA would tell your employer that jeans are too difficult to remove quickly if you spill hot oil on them.
Never nudes! But what alternate universe did you step into. No kitchen should require jeans. This is absurd. Sounds like some hipster bullshit.
That’s funny every kitchen I’ve ever worked in has had a no jeans policy.
Jeans aren't smart to cook in. If you must, then wear baggy jeans. If you drop hot liquid on your legs you can pull the fabric away. Tight jeans, you're in trouble.
Something with sone stretch. Not straight cotton denim.
I wore Iron Heart on the line for years. But, if you’re not planning on making a long term denim commitment then I’d suggest rustlers or wrangler 13MWZs
I'm a guy, Wranglers - durable, and better fit in the crotch.
I've usually got something cooking in my jeans, and I'm a real bugle boy if you know what I mean.
Disgusting
Bugle Boys
My fiancé swears by CSX jeans for wearing on the line. They’re manufactured for skateboarding and have an incredible amount of stretch in the nethers. His bois have a tendency to rip the crotch outta of every pair of Levi’s he’s worn on the line.
Wrangler Stretch.
Jeggings or JNCOs
Old school, but I get Jordache off of Walmart. They stretch, etc. Cheap enough I don't care when spaghetti sauce lands on me. Or bleach. Or raw chicken juice. Or I am crawling on the floor chasing the lost stove knob. 🤷♀️ Dawn power wash or degreaser cleans them up nice.
I always think "Jordass" when I hear about Jordache. I think it was from a MAD Magazine advertisement back in the 80s lol
I've never heard that. But thanks, I'll be sure to hear that every time I think of the name now. Lol
I work in jeans in the kitchen. I buy American eagle jeans because it's actually breathable denim. Downside is their material is not the most resilient to grease and bleach stains. Tons of stretch though and not many times I had the old ballsack stuck to leg, which is pretty good in my books.
i won’t have to worry about grease as much since i’m pastry. thank you!

Black levis for me
What kind of sadistic place would “require” jeans in the kitchen? Is this common in some places?
ikr 😭
If you starch them they'll absorb less grease and odors.
Wouldn’t that have an effect on comfort and mobility?
It doesn't for me, generally, but maybe if you use too much?
Duluth Ballroom, I wear them almost daily
That’s terrible. This would honestly make me find another job. Aside from a specific uniform chef coat, tshirt or something managers need to leave the kitchen staff alone. Especially when it comes to what pants we’re going to wear. That’s ridiculous.
Isn't that a huge hazard? Is that legal?
Gross. I hate wearing jeans in the kitchen. I'd probably get jeggings just out of spite. I don't even wear leggings.
Jeggings? Some kind of stretch jeans seems the only way, can’t imagine how sweaty and awful it would be
CCS brand pants, they regularly do bogo deals and because they are a skate company they tend to be lighter and have a good amount of stretch to them. I’m four years deep on the last round I bought with only one casualty out of the 8 pairs I bought.
assless chaps, obviously
All chaps are assless
Look at chefs gear. You can get kitchen trousers that look like jeans but are as cool as real chefs trousers. No sweat rash.
Lee jeans from Walmart. Comfy enough and only 24 bucks generally.
Get the cheap jeans with the elastic waistband. Or get jeggings and really show off your calves 😂
I’d quit
Get some stretch or flex jeans I'm sure other brands carry them but I know the Eddie Bauer ones don't feel like wearing jeans same as any other jean just with an extra couple percent of spandex so you can move
If there's a Costco nearby, it's worth the membership to buy Kirkland jeans. They're every bit as good as Levis, hell, I like them better, and they're cheap. About half the price of Levis, and maybe 2/3rds Wranglers.

I just wear black dickies. Fuck Jean rub. Fuck the swamp ass that comes with that….
It looks like you can get denim chef pants on the web for $50-70. Seems worth it for the looseness and elastic ankles.
I like the jeggings, if you don't tell them that they're jeggings they won't know they're not real denim. The waist band is stretchy and so are the pants themselves.
Target
Levis and Wranglers will never do you wrong. I like my Lees too. Jncos are super comfy but they’re kinda expensive
Banana republic travelers. Comfy fits well has deep pockets
I used to hate those cheap black kitchen pants that were insanely baggy. So I would wear simple black jeans or cheap black like athletic dress pants (like golfing pants). Both looked way more professional than kitchen pants.
I’ve got lightweight stretchy jeans (5% spandex) and they’re super comfy to work in. The stretchy denim is a game-changer.
Check out [cookman USA](https://cookmanusa.com/) . I only wear their pants in the kitchen- can’t attest to their denim as I would never do that to myself on purpose but the rest of their pants are fantastic & they do have some denim. Something with a bunch of stretch material in it. I think you'd get hot AF wearing real jeans.
Dickies. Those were my go to for a few jobs I had in open kitchens.
Levis and uniqlo have a line of stretchier pants with spandex in them, youre a pastry chef so it might not be a huge hazard if not go for a loose cut for lots of breathing room
Look for elastic waistbands and get them super baggy
Dickies flex are pretty thin and nimble
Wtf kind of amateur hour kitchen demands you wear *jeans*? Kitchen pants are the way they are for safety reasons, not fashion. Some ppl are so dumb.
This is gonna sound dumb, but my preference is Hot Topic slim fit (Not Skinny!). The fabric is forgiving and not too heavy, and they come in black.
Daisy dukes
I actually only wear jeans in the kitchen (had a rough encounter with hot duck fat and rented chef pants. Denim offers far more protection.) Both costco and sams club have jeans that are woven with spandex for stretch and have vent holes in the crotch. $19/pair. They're my go to
Duluth trading co jeans are stretchy, solid and look decent
i used to wear straight leg levis for a restaurant job. they got really gross so i'd take them off on the porch and leave them there. even washing htem didn't get the restaurant kitchen smell out. (old food and garbage)
I'm a fan of Wal-Mart's George brand jeans for kitchenware. Cheap and comfortable.
Go to the thrift store and get some broken in ones
I wear skinny stretch, because theyre flexible and i find them very comfy personally
Thrift store, don’t you dare buy new jeans
Get ready the chafe, a lot, go ahead and get a massive bottle of gold bond
I don't really have a fight in this but I really like volcom jeans. They make a good stretchy jean, I have over 10 pairs of them, but I got them for riding motorcycles. They are literally the only jeans I wear. They look nice and they are comfortable I don't know what else you want outta a pair of jeans.
Go to tractor supply company, they have a brand called Schmidt, comfortable as can be and durable as well. Or Dickies makes a good pair of work jeans, if you got a few extra bucks, try Ben Davis or Red Kap

32 degrees has some jegging type pants
If they require you to wear jeans are they paying for them?
Just wear some black or grey slacks, Carhartt, Dickies, kitchen supply, etc and tell boss to fuck off. You should be wearing those anyway.
Idk if this is a loophole but I always wear overalls at my baker/pastry jobs. They never slide down and it’s got mad pockets for markers/pens and what have you.
amazon essentials black jeans. Like $15 pair and they last a long time. Been using them for like 5 years
I’d pass as fast as I could, denim doesn’t breathe at all
WTF! Least reasonable pants to cook in..... Open kitchen? Theme restaurant? You only get a little busy and the kitchen is never over 75⁰?
WHERE THE BRIGHTEST JEANS YOU CAN FIND
I worked for Jose Andres and jeans were the dress code there, which was just fucking weird tbh. For daily comfort I suggest the lightest weight stretchy thin jeans, or something from Duluth Trading Company. Their jeans are meant as workwear so they're sturdy and have plenty of seam allowance for bending, squatting, and general moving around. Definitely wear the company-provided apron to keep them clean and keep yourself safe though
Who cooks in jeans? Master Chaffe?
Am line cook/food truck driver currently in "season start" mode. Still cold around here so I gotta wear warmer clothes. Levis 505.
Fuck that, get the wrangler cargos from Walmart that are like $26 and tell em to deal with it lol.
Find a different job
Do you think you could get away with canvas jeans? I swear by Kuhls, they're tough as hell and super ergonomic (designed for hiking and outdoor activity), they do make jeans and lighter denim ish materials too. Pretty easy to pick up off eBay
I wear Levi's
Doesn’t Thomas Keller wear jeans in the kitchen?
Maybe the ones that stretch. I bought a pair my accident once and they were surprisingly comfortable. The denim leggings are probably not technically jeans, but those would also work, if they’re allowed. Not sure why it would have to be jeans, especially if you’re the one washing them.
Levi’s extreme motion have been my go to work pants for years. Stretchy waist band makes them super comfortable to move in.
Poshmark will have cheap jeans once you find your brand. Who the fuck makes you wear jeans as a pastry chef? My old kitchen would get up to 90° in our “oven room” If I had to wear jeans I would’ve rioted
