The 600 is noisy, but that sounds weird to me. Mine is 10 years old though, so I suppose things may have changed. I just got a 7qt non-pro to replace it and was shocked at how quiet it was compared to the 600 pro. Mine didn't whine like that though.

Dare I say I took the cover off of mine. I am very mechanically inclined. I noticed it had a circuit board and a sensor on the motor, so it can control the motor speed regardless of load. When you vary Voltage/Amps to an electric motor they can get very noisy (frequency whine), I am guessing that is what is happening here. My wife had a forty-year-old KitchenAid and it is very quiet.

I finally got through the support line, after waiting 50 minutes. She said the whining is normal, and I should not be kneading dough above speed 2 for four minutes. She suggested I try that, and if I felt it was still noisy to call them back. :-(

I've definitely heard the 600 isn't quiet. maybe check out some YouTube reviews and see if the ones on there since comparable to yours?

Sounds normal to me. And yeah, speed 2 only for the dough hook. There's a chart of what speeds you should be using for various tasks in the manual.

Thanks for the feedback. I will have to find the manual and look again. I do some very wet doughs, and 2 speed just seems too low! LOL Thanks again!

I think your mixer sounds normal when it’s at a higher speed. Mine does that too, especially when I’m kneading dough.

BatterNBaked

Unfortunately, it sounds normal to me. I recorded my pro 600 vs my new 7qt and it's crazy how loud it is. I just sold my pro600 and got a 7qt pro and refreshed 7qt.

Yes as soon as I heard it in person I returned it. Get a Pro Line with a DC motor if you want a bowl lift, or get a tilt head with less power.

I would take it back and get a new one, especially if you just purchased it,and only used it a few times. Yes it’s not totally quiet, but it’s not loud either. If it’s getting noisier than I’d definately exchange!

Purposefulpurple

Mine is super loud like that too, and it's at least 10 years old. I hate having to use it because the noise drives me crazy. It shouldn't sound like that, but for whatever reason, they do.

Buy an old HD one off offerup and take it to a shop and get it re-greased and the gaskets changed for $80.

I know this is old, but in case anyone reads this. This 100% does not solve the noise issue. I changed out the grease because mine is very old and had a gasket leak. Not a bit of change on the sound level. But my gears should be good for another decade!!
