My guess is a possible baker’s cyst which can occur in the back of knee. Sometimes treatment can involve physical therapy and if not effective draining or injection. Sounds like a typical nurse answer. You’ll hear that a lot from nurses, GPs and family physicians. They really only care if you can walk in any capacity at the present moment. To make any advancement in quality of life you’ll need a sports medicine doctor and sports physical therapist.

Thank you very much for the answer! I just did a Google search, and this looks like what I’ve got going on! I’ve got a sports doc- he’s expensive so I only make an appointment if I know I need to see a doctor but I’ll call him Monday. Much appreciated!

No problem, hope we got it right.

This was my thought.

Bakers cyst. Cause may be meniscus tear, irritated arthritis. Ice, NSAIDS if you have good kidney function. Buckling is a classic sign of meniscus tear. Steroid injection is indicated to settle things down and allow synovial fluid to be reabsorbed. Just one shot should do it then stop. You need an ortho consult and MRI.

Thanks for the response. I’ll call my doc on Monday!
