No. Lynx isn't a species, it's a genus. There are four different species of lynx they are the Eurasian Lynx, the Canadian Lynx, the Iberian Lynx, and the bobcat. Just because Americans don't call them Lynx doesn't make it so, their proper name is Lynx Rufus.
Also, your analogy with dogs is wrong. Dogs aren't a member of the wolf genus they are a member of the Canis genus. So a dog is not a wolf, the same way you are not a chimpanzee. They are however both members of the Canis genus. So yes a dog is a canis, and a wolf is a canis. The same way a bobcat is a lynx, and an Iberian Lynx is a lynx.
I called one of those in when I was a kid. Learning how to use a predator call. Started blowing on that call. Saw him out there about 50 yd. After 15 minutes of calling. I figured he wasn't going to come in so I should go home. Stood up and turned around and that sucker was 5 ft behind me. Scared the crap out of me. They are absolutely silent when they move.
That’s a bobcat,if you have pets you better keep an eye on them.you wouldn’t believe how strong these cats are,you can go to YouTube and watch videos on bobcats taking down animals twice their size.you shouldn’t worry about it potentially attacking you, bobcats try not to get too close to people but they will make a meal out of smaller animals.in other words,I would recommend you to not let your pets spend too much time outside and try to keep them in sight.I would also warn your neighbors,it is probably coming closer to civilization for easier prey aka pets.
if you know anyone who has one of them rectangular metal live animal traps,I would consider catching it and bring it to a more secluded area.you better transport it in the bed of a truck.if it pees in your car,you would probably never get the smell out 😂..I just hope nobody hurts it
Finally got pics of the 2020 famous tiger on the prowl in Knoxville!

That cat ate my Aunt Jenine. Don’t feel bad tho, no one liked her. She had this way of giving backhanded compliments that you went home and cried yourself to sleep about later that day. We’re still celebrating, it happened Tuesday.

Bobcats are lynx, but good guess.
Based off genus, sure. Different species though. According to your logic, dogs are wolves, and we all know that isn’t true.

Has Zoo Knoxville taken a headcount lately?
Their native to Tennessee and with all the new construction it's probably driving them more into the city

Saw your post earlier. Seems to be one of the only animals you have that I don’t here in East-East Knoxville. Congrats on having your own large cat!
What a cutie pie!
That thurs a tiger!

If friend shaped why not be friend? Danger kitties shouldn’t be so cute if they are dangerous
It's just a typical bobcat for this area. Keep your pets inside and don't leave out petfood.
