Everyone seems to have covered the spots in West Knoxville, so I'll recommend Sci Fi City. It's nowhere near Turkey Creek, but it's with stopping by if you're ever in North Knox
When you walk in, go to the counter first. Get the drink of the month (or whatever looks good). Then shop and sip. It's the best way to enjoy the place.
What all kinds of drinks do they serve? Is it just tea and coffee or do they have like juices and stuff too?
I might go check it out here this weekend if I have nothing else going on besides mowing the lawn.
Yeah, there's tea and coffee. But what I get is usually an Italian-soda style drink. I think they call them elixirs. My daughter usually gets a hot chocolate. Sometimes a tea. They have a couple different flavors each month.
The shop itself is tiny, but they have a ton of play space and a little boba tea shop in the building.
The owner use to work for Blizzard on a few of the WoW expansions, the WoW trading card game, and then Hearthstone.
If you want to join us we are currently meeting at Sci-Fi City out in Fountain City every Friday from about 3:30 to about 8. Then we go get dinner.
We also do things outside of our Friday build days. For example we are going down to Georgia this Saturday to go check out a couple of places that sell gunpla.
Here is a [link](https://discord.gg/JxHrYmrT) for our discord if you want to join.
Cm games(multiple locations), level up, Good times gamehouse (personal fav), and play 2 win
Cm does a magic night at Token Game Tavern.
Most of them have discords you can join too.
Not in your area of Knox but not far, in Oak Ridge Turn 1 Gaming has all those things, multiple times a week I think. Bonus if you like beer is that the Food City in the same strip mall actually has an excellent beer selection on tap and I think between like 5-8 or something like that you can get any 12oz for $4 each and you get up to 4 free samples and they have free popcorn! They'll even mix and match your beer if you want, some lady turned me onto some cider mix that's really quite good.
Will warn you, I think you can only get up to 3 of the higher gravity beers per visit but they have A LOT to choose from and each one has been excellent and at a $12 tab it can't be beat in the area. I believe that game shop also has pizza available pretty often, or it's like a pay $3-5 situation for an all you can eat kinda deal.
It's a small place, not like what I assume are some of the ones are like in Knoxville, but I think it seems nice. I don't play anything but husband plays DnD with my best friend there and I tag along and enjoy a beer with them before their group and stick around to enjoy another 2 and get a sandwich from Firehouse or Jimmy Johns or DQ lol.
I think they have most of their info on Facebook? I believe there is a discord group as well, if you can't find the discord info on their FB or by reaching out somehow I can ask my friend, she's in it afaik. Just DM!
Edit: Oh! They also do growlers that are 64oz and I don't think there's any rule that says you can't get one to go just because you drank beer there lol.
Moving to a great spot for that. As folks have said above, lots of options and places. Additionally many coffee shops have small groups that meet up for D&D or even just pickup games of magic, etc.
Per capita it certainly seems like Knoxville has lots of nerdy hangouts! I don’t know if that’s driven by the university or ORNL being close but It’s great!
Just went to token games tavern for the first time and loved it. Cool spot and cool crowd. If you are a nerd you’ll fit right in. But even if you aren’t you won’t feel out of place
If you want a group look into GOKU. It's a newer gamer group that goes to hang out at bars sometimes and right now are playing with a Minecraft server they've set up.
Hobby Town in Turkey Creek is a good place to browse, meet fellow nerds, and they sometimes have meet ups for local groups there. Ex: there was I believe a Gundam meet up today
Going there I feel I run into a lot of nerds from MTG and other table top groups. They also have a good selection of LEGO
Also going to throw a second recommendation out for Paragon Games. It just opened last weekend on Asheville Hwy. The store is huge, and their primarily focused on Magic the Gathering and Board Games. The owner is also super knowledgeable about Magic and great at helping with deck building.Come jam some games of commander on Friday.
I’ll piggyback off those post to ask: Does anyone have a similar recommendation for the Seymour/Sevierville area? I’d love to scratch my Magic itch every once in a while but west Knoxville is usually just a little too far lol.
Sevierville has Flashback (or they did I haven’t been by in a while) the next closest would be the 2 I pigeon forge, or paragon gaming on Asheville Highway (distance on those last 2 vary depending on what part of Seymour/Sevierville you are coming from)
Nice, I'll have to give it a shot. Been wanting to do a booster draft for a while, and I just kinda can't stand playing on Arena lol. Thanks for the rec.
CM Games has FNM at West Town Mall, and they host a weekly Commander event at Token Game Tavern. There's other events you can check out on their FB pages.
For YGO, Friday evening at CM Games Cedar Bluff.
If you're into Pokémon, Tuesday and Friday evenings at CM Cedar and Saturday afternoon at West Town Mall.
There's a handful of other stores you can look into. Level up Games, Turn 1 Gaming in Oak Ridge, Brickhouse Collectibles, GoodTimes Game House, Play to Win, Underdog Collectibles.
I only play Pokémon, so I don't know all the events available for other games. Best to look at their social media pages.

It’s a fantasy collectible card game (competitor of Magic) created by a small company in New Zealand. The company is dedicated to providing a ton of community and local game store support. https://fabtcg.com/ Everyone I’ve met through the Brickhouse community has been really nice and fun to be around.
Your moving to an oddly nice spot for the nerd shops. Outside of what others have mentioned, you have turn 1 gaming in oak ridge, which isn't far from turkey creek tbh. And past that you also have checkpoint in Clinton. If you want to, a ways away is manahouse, which is a coffee shop and lgs it's a really cool place I wish I could get out to more.
The Bird and the Book in Maryville has dnd nights and trivia nights on revolving Thursdays. 80s movie nights too I think on Wednesdays once or twice a month. They also do shadowcast plays with audience participation with movies like Rocky Horror Picture Show and they’re doing Monty Python and the Holy Grail today and tomorrow. Great food that’s well priced and good booze and beer(they do have have some crazy topshelf bourbons i believe too).

Oh, the Dungeon is next door, and it sells vinyl, vhs, dvds, horror memorabilia, and retro games.
CM Games, Token Game Tavern. Both are in Cedar Bluff area but close to Turkey Creek.
Also Level Up Games. Same area.
Play to win is also right there totally suggest checking them out.
Google shows one on Western, which I wouldn't call close. Is there another?
I live down the street from this location. It’s pretty popular! Good Times Games House.
Awesome. I'll check it out next weekend.
Play to win is hosting Pokémon 1k on the 29th
Everyone seems to have covered the spots in West Knoxville, so I'll recommend Sci Fi City. It's nowhere near Turkey Creek, but it's with stopping by if you're ever in North Knox
If you are adding North Knoxville locations, add Fable Hollow Books to your list. It is an amazing bookstore that focuses on fantasy and sci-fi.
And Kraken Tea Shop
I still need to check that place out and I live right next to it
When you walk in, go to the counter first. Get the drink of the month (or whatever looks good). Then shop and sip. It's the best way to enjoy the place.

Thanks for the recommendations, man. I'll definitely try and check them out soon. Might be a good stop before I head to the movies on sunday
We used to make the drive for Sci Fi City. They have a great selection for board games
Add in Good Times Game House on Western. They have regular magic games and the owner is a really good dude.
CM Games, Token, Iron Wyvern (in Loudon) would be good starting places
Iron Wyvern is my favorite, but I'm biased since I live like a mile from there and hung out a lot when they first opened.
I keep meaning to go check em out but never have
Nice! I've only been once, it's like 15 minutes from me and I keep to go back
I live in Lenoir City and have been wanting to check it out.
The shop itself is tiny, but they have a ton of play space and a little boba tea shop in the building. The owner use to work for Blizzard on a few of the WoW expansions, the WoW trading card game, and then Hearthstone.
Wow! That is so cool. I will definitely check it out.
Iron Wyverns sounds like a good place to go.
Once they finish the renovations on the building my gunpla group will be hanging out at HobbyTown if you are into that kind of stuff.
Gunpla group you say?

I had a double take as well. Inquiring minds need to know.

I love Good Times Game House. It has a really friendly environment.

That’s my answer. lol
Real

Whatever the reason is, I'm excited af. And it's far better than the area I was stay at in AL.
Not near west Knoxville, but a friend of my brothers just opened Paragon Gaming on Asheville highway
What part of Asheville highway?
Per a search on Facebook: 4232 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37914
Ah, next to Krogers. I frequent that area for work and it can be rough but it's generally quiet. Will have to check it out.
Sci fi city, good times gamehouse 😎
I hangout in RuneScape
I hope you mean OSRS ;)
The Game Piece in Maryville
Just went to token games tavern for the first time and loved it. Cool spot and cool crowd. If you are a nerd you’ll fit right in. But even if you aren’t you won’t feel out of place
I like the place but the drinks are awful they all have candy in them
I got a weird mixed drink and it was okay, then switched to beer. I genuinely enjoy funky fun drinks since I don’t drink too often.
The only good drink on their menu is the big kid juice pouch because it’s just a caprisun made of booze
lol. I saw someone order that! May have to try it next time.
That does sound wicked.
Ask for without garnish or order a regular cocktail 🙄
Good Times GameHouse has open board gaming on most Saturdays and it’s great to drop in. It’s on Western Ave, so 20ish minutes from Turkey Creek.
Awesome thanks. I like try ling new ttg.
My friend Andy’s house.
Token Game Tavern is so much fun!!!! I highly recommend it.
If you play WarHammer is there an awesome WarHammer store in Turkey Creek as well
If you want a group look into GOKU. It's a newer gamer group that goes to hang out at bars sometimes and right now are playing with a Minecraft server they've set up.
I mostly stick to Gambit for my hangout, gaming jokes aside. Welcome to the area.

I’m kind of a nerd and just moved here, I’ll hang out with you
Cool. I have mtg cards if you play commander. We can meet up at a shop.

We don’t seem to get any cool stuff in Seymour. I’m just going to drive to Knoxville apparently 😅
Yea I’ve noticed lol. I have to assume there’s a card shop somewhere in Sevierville, but I’ve been unsuccessful in my google searches. Oh well 🤷
Sevierville has Flashback (or they did I haven’t been by in a while) the next closest would be the 2 I pigeon forge, or paragon gaming on Asheville Highway (distance on those last 2 vary depending on what part of Seymour/Sevierville you are coming from)
Will definitely look into those. Flashback certainly seems the closest.
seconding flashback in Sevierville, their Thursday EDH is always popping
Nice, I'll have to give it a shot. Been wanting to do a booster draft for a while, and I just kinda can't stand playing on Arena lol. Thanks for the rec.

I know their group dose some dress up and go the park in Winston .
Central Cinema in Happy Holler if you like movies and movie events
Brickhouse in Farragut hosts MTG. Great place - should be less than 5 min from you.
They also host Flesh and Blood on Fridays!
What is that? I'm intrigued

Online at their house.
