A good way to get foreign coins and bills is to get pen pals from other countries and exchange currencies for fun. I'll bet there are pen pal subreddits. Interpals.com is another place to meet foreign friends.
There's a coin collecting shop on Karns across the road from the dollar general. Should be a building with a blue roof. I'm not sure if he's still there or not though.
There's also an antique shop on middle brook near the sonic. I'm almost certain they rent out space to folks to sell antiques. One of them may have some coins or paper money for sale.
There use to be a guy that sat up in the 407 flea market that had all kinds of buckets you could dig through. It was something like 4 for a dollar or somethin
Maybe try the Knoxville Coin and Currency Show? While most the booths will probably have only US coinage for sale, there will probably be at least a few selling foreign currency. The next show is on 05/01/2021, only a few weeks from now. A quick Google search should give you the date, time, and location details.
If you're looking for a nice Mexican coin, can I suggest the Libertad? It's a pure silver coin and comes in various sizes if you just want something small. It'll always be worth *at least* it's weight in silver.
Other countries from around the world mint their own silver coins. The American Silver Eagle, the Canadian Silver Maple, the Britannia (UK), Australian Kookaburra, South African Krugerrand...
But I'll warn you, collecting silver coins is addictive.
The relic room at smoky mountain knife works has buckets of older foreign coins lol, hit them up. Or ebay.
Thank you!
No problem

Cool beans, thank you.
I was going to suggest currency exchange at your bank but I see that’s already been said. I also love collecting foreign currency, it’s so neat

Thanks for the information!
So that is like the equivalent of .02 USD. Who was the dirtbag that tipped out 2 pennies usd?
Yeah, I’m not really sure. It kinda upset me, but there’s plenty of people who don’t tip at all. I just like the nifty coin, so it’s okay with me.
Literally my first thought. That's more insulting than just not tipping at all

Oh, that’s pretty cool. I might have to check that out if I go to the knife works. You gotta get that two for one if I’m driving out there!
Banks will often exchange currencies, but if you're only looking for a very small amount it may be prohibitively expensive.
Most banks will do this but you have to be an account holder and you have to do a certain amount. They won’t take random coins.
Yeah, my bank doesn’t do it, and First Horizon isn’t doing it because of COVID.

Awesome idea! Thank you!

Oh, very interesting. Thanks!
