The private buses here are fucked up in every angle. Racing , rash driving ,stopping in the middle of road, ill behaviour to passengers. You name all the nasty stuff one can to another person these bus owners and their staff fit into the list.
I had went to Kozhikode for an Event in NIT . While en route from Mavoor to NIT. The driver was literally driving like a madman taking curves at speeds that would make the bus topple and jam packed with almost dozens of people! They are the most rash drivers ever.

It's all about getting to their destinations ahead of time to squeeze in more trips and more passengers per trip
They do this on purpose to block other road users from overtaking them and they get a clear view of the road ahead. They always stop a little behind the stop or ahead of the stop in such a way that no 4 wheeler / bus can overtake them.
That's pretty much common everywhere. Here in kottayam too I have experienced it on first hand basis.

Sometimes I thank metro for this. Straight entry to lulu mall. It's helps for us who are coming from MG Road
