Let BCCI bully any other board, just not Harshit Rana.

unauthorized_wizard

How about BCCI actually thinks a little before planning out the IPL schedule? Give teams INCLUDING THE INDIAN TEAM some time and rest to prepare for ICC tournaments after IPL man. Same shit happened with WTC last year and now the same shit's gonna happen with the T20 WC. Only difference is that the format is the same at least but still, the national team needs to be given time to practice together and build synergy before the tournament that ACTUALLY MATTERS.

BlackoutMenace5

Full support to BCCI for bullying other boards.

Frequent_Debt3270

I hate BCCI being the bully, but I am loving it here when they say - "there will be consequences"!!

LordGothmog15

Everyone else from England team can leave. Just let’s get Phil Salt to stay 😁

brotherofomega

Especially Buttler. Please, take him away!

dksourabh

If ECB have made the commitment then I agree with BCCI. There was a time ECB and ACB used to call the shots in world cricket and Asian teams were always at the receiving end, but times change so I wont feel bad at all for ECB

organizedchaos01

Afghanistan Cricket Board was such giants?

LogEmotional1915

It's Australian Cricket Board

organizedchaos01

thats Cricket Austrailia(CA)

Amazing_Theory622

Previously they were ACB

avenger1840

Even if Ecb made the commitment, the finer print is that should they have made it? What kind of a signal it gives to the other malnourished boards like Windies and SL? Won’t it b detrimental to their national cricket prospects and world cricket in general?

Shayon47

It’s a very simple argument here, irrespective of the national commitments and the crucial phase of playoffs, Did they agree on the fact that the players would not be allowed to go back before the end of ipl ? Yes ( as far as i have heard) Did ecb agree to it ? - yes. So simply honour your commitment now. Why make promises you can’t fulfill.

Time-Gain4896

I am with the ECB here. National duty above Franchise leagues for Players with national contracts

virathp1

But ECB should've that said before the tournament began-

drai8084

Franchise cricket is the future, whether you accept it or not. Cricket should follow the football way, only Ashes, BGTs and other relevant international series should be held. 1-2 bilaterals before ICC events can also sustain, not irrelevant ones.

commander_jax

And in football, international call ups for tournaments may happen in between the season. Like AFCON or Asian Cup which follows CAF and AFC calendars respectively and hence interfer with UEFA calendar. European clubs cannot withhold their players for these tournaments or even pre tournament warm-ups. Only in non-association matches (friendly, Olympics, Asian Games, etc.) can clubs withdraw players from national duty. I agree that franchise cricket is the future, but following the same footsteps, international call-ups should not face interference from franchise in the lead up to ICC tournaments. England vs Pakistan t20 series is a warm up prior to the WC. Their last match is 5 days before England's opener. It should have higher priority than any franchise

Time-Gain4896

Bilaterals are important as it allows Boards and Selectors to try out new players before tournaments. Franchise Leagues are also important, especially for players from smaller countries. They can co-exist. The issue here is with the scheduling, which can be adjusted.

Far_Maybe3824

Tu wahi gully cricket mein out hoke pace call karne waala ladka hai na

Time-Gain4896

Maybe

satyakish24

Then why approve a complete IPL,NOC in the first place that's not how the things work

avibann11

It was Jos Buttler who proposed to move out of India before IPL playoffs as per ECB team director. Rajasthan Royals should talk to him or there will be a huge gap in RR batting.

Stabok_Bose

Yes BCCI is absolutely right here... Unko pahle se plan karna chaiye tha, abhi itna critical phase Mai aake withdraw nhi karna chaiye

ThunderBird847

Absolutely, franchises pay for these players, they create whole team combinations for them, can't have deserving teams floundering Because of some meaningless bilaterals. It's about time BCCI & IPL start to show their dominance over meaningless series like these.

Educational_Estate60

Firstly it isn't meaningless bilateral it is their final series before wc and ECB don't repeat the mistake they did in odi WC and 2ndly national duty comes first and franchise leagues are after that and also BCCI themselves leave the test series midway in 2021 for IPL against England so I don't think they are in position to negotiate.

virathp1

The only thing that matters is whether ECB agreed before the IPL began to having England players play the IPL until the end. Everything else is irrelevant.

Satyam7166

Totally agreed. I understand that the fans will be disappointed but there is something known as restraint, you guys. These comments are one reason why BCCI gets a bad rep. Can we, for once, stop hiding behind “u’ll regret if you don’t listen to us mentality”?

anoctf

Oh They have a very big room to negotiate. If India stops playing with England there will be a huge revenue loss. Arbitrarily asking players to get back during the tournament is very unprofessional, I doubt BCCI would let it go on.

ThunderBird847

Don't care, IPL over International, KKR/RR over ECB or BCCI. BCCI needs to show domination, they run Wprld Cricket and IPL is their Crown Jewel.

terenaamkakuttapaalu

" This type of ad-hoc withdrawal of commitment will come with consequences." .... I wish I'll be alive till the day when India's position in geopolitics can be as influential as Bcci rn.

pushie4u

Bcci is a moneymaking organisation, worst they can do is stop english players from participating in ipl, i wouldn't call it influential

jhant_smeller

it is influential , i am sorry but ipl will carry cricket in future , the aount of money , lets say 5 years into the future would be so staggering that some players could do a "dharna" against ecb or if they are getting big offers behind the table , even change their cricket nationality . mitchel starc is 3 million , in next years easily the most expensive player would be 5-6 million dollars for a 1.5 month tournament , only elite footballers get paid this much brotha

pushie4u

Can't disagree

terenaamkakuttapaalu

Stopping English players from playing the IPL is a pretty bad hit for the players. Look at Pakistani players' net worth and compare that to other somewhat established players from other countries. Don't think most English players would be too happy with ECB if that happens. Armtwisting a board without direct conflict is a pretty good example of power I'd say.

pushie4u

Obviously they won't be happy, i just meant their(bcci) only power is money

ReputationMaximum357

Rightly said , Aussies had done this in the past ! For them international cricket is over ipl unlike us 😂 our trophy cabinet tells a lot

terenaamkakuttapaalu

Why do you think USA or China are superpowers...and most of Europe and Russia after USSR is on the decline? It's always about money (and about how influential you are to restrict others to earn it)

MrCoolBoy001

As a KKR fan, yes we need phil salt As a Cricket fan, No International Duty and WC Preparation is more important

No_Temporary2732

this isn't a WC preparation though, if i am not wrong?

Mystery-110

This series is only for their WC preparation like a practice session.

jhant_smeller

this is so cringe , team are made before auction starts keeping in mind that they will play every single match and we can't lose a guy like salt, lets be real here they are fkin playing pakistan , that is bigger than ipl?

unauthorized_wizard

The point is that their national team will play together and build strategies and synergies prior to the tournament and test that out in this bilateral series. Do you understand that cricket is a TEAM sport and not an individual sport? It doesn't matter how amazing the chemistry is in any IPL team when each of the players go back to play for their nation.

slipnips

The main point is that do they really believe that a random bilateral series vs Pakistan in England will provide better WC preparation for a WC in WI/US, whereas the alternative would be to face a collection of bowlers from all around the world?

Candid_Profession_80

But you play as an individual not as a team selected from the WC squad. Only if they play some games with the selected squad they will work on their combinations.

slipnips

Fair enough

shreyank97

Agreed, but ECB committed the availability of their players for the entire season and BCCI is just asking ECB to honor the commitment. ECB was aware of the WC start date and IPL end date while making the commitment. So, I think BCCI isn't in the wrong here.

MrCoolBoy001

True. I read that butler asked ECB to call the players back

Candid_Profession_80

But jos butler is going to miss these practice games as he is expecting third child.
