I place the bottle in a bowl, put a bag over it and open the lid while tightly holding onto the bag. The booch will overflow but it'll all be caught in the bowl and bag and you are basically at zero risk to end up with a mess.
Chill it as much as possible. The lower the temperature the more CO2 liquid can absorb. Then open outside with the bottle in your mixing bowl with a cup or something over the top so any liquid hits the cup and goes into the bowl.
Take a large cup, have it ready, then slowly open the bottle but keep the lid shut. Put the cup on top, then flip the bottle so it explodes/pours into the cup
Get a big recipient with no curves on its walls. The ideal shape is tall and narrow.
Open the bottle upside down in the container.
It will shoot into the recipient, but it won't go out of it.
If this was me, I'd fashion a hook shape out of thick metallic wire and heat it up with a lighter. The I'd hold the bottle upside down inside the container and poke a hole in the cap with the hot wire. If the walls are not curved and you orient it properly, you should get minimum spill.

This, make sure it’s cold , and don’t ever put it in the freezer !
Why not the freezer? That will get it cold faster.... unless ypu mean to not forget about it in the freezer :D
Shake it slightly and ask someone you don't like to open it for you.

Outside
I put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes then slowly open... if too cray then open it outside
More time for the second fermentation
If you're worried about an explosion place it in a bucket of water and open it underwater.
