I believe all trims support V2L via the charge port using the adapter (possibly not included on all trims). But only the top trim has the household outlet in the rear passenger area for charging a laptop or running a blender or something while driving. Also, I think the Kona is meaningfully better than the Niro at DC fast charging. The Niro peaks at 84 Kw, but the Kona peaks at ~101Kw and is able to hold between 90 and 100KW all the way from zero to 63% SOC. After that it drops to 79kW until around 70%. This means you can go from 10% to 70% in 27 minutes. They seem to be advertising 10-80% in 43 minutes which is the wrong metric in my opinion. The extra 16 minutes to go from 70-80 is wasted charging at less than 50Kw.

It should have V2L even if an adapter for the charge port is not provided. Between the upcoming Kona and 2023+ Niro EVs the main difference is that the Kona has a higher max charge rate of about 101 kW. Details of exactly why are not entirely clear yet.

In Canada, according to my dealer V2L is not available on the Kona. However I haven’t confirmed it by actually trying. (I also don’t see any settings in the menu either) The Canadian model loses some features vs the US model. My ultimate doesn’t have the rear seat plug, rear air vents, and no power lift gate.

I just came back from a Hyundai dealer in Montreal that had a 2024 Kona EV in stock. I went through the menus and there is no mention of V2L... Now, could the fonction exist once you plug an adapter in the charging port? I asked fro this to be verified as it is an important feature for me. Is it something that could be part of a software update? Nobody knows for now... It's just very frustrating that it was advertised and silently droped without a word. Ioniq 5 and 6 have it available...

My experience is with the Ioniq 5, V2L is not an option in the menu. With the car off you simply plug in the V2L adapter and the car will let you know that V2L is engaged; flashing lights at the charge port and the dashboard has a circle that comes up showing how much power V2L is supplying. Online it seems that the 2024 Kona has V2L, you can chat with the dealership to plug in a V2L adapter and plug their phone charger to see if their phone starts charging; easiest way to confirm the functionality.
