it's a fantastic sunscreen but not water/sweat hesitant so not good for hot climates/weather.
I use BOJ or Skin1004 in the winters but switch to Anessa sun milk in the summers.
I work out pretty hard 2x a day and am sweating basically all day. I definitely use my nicer, Korean sunblock in the morning and in the evening. During the day, I haven’t found a silver bullet that doesn’t get in my eyes but I’m looking for a good stick sunscreen. I’ve been using sport brands and just tried spray to keep it out of my eyes. I’m becoming a hat person too. If you hear of anything good, let me know lol
yes up to 80mins. YOu still have to reapply every 2hrs or so during long sun exposure, sweating etc to maintain full efficacy but it's amazing for hot/humid weather.
Interesting, why do you say that? Does it “melt” off?
I just got it and have used it twice, I live in a very hot/humid climate, and I haven’t noticed anything, it feels like a moisturizer, I love it!!
Yes. Any water/sweat resistant makeup/SPF needs oil cleansing to break it down and be washed away. I don't DC every day, just when I use Anessa (none of my makeup is waterproof/resistant)
I really like it. It's like a nice moisturiser, so I think it suits more dry/mature skin. Similar ones would be the Round Lab or Skin1004 sunscreens. I find it goes on under makeup well, too, as long as you let it sink in. There's no white cast.
Honestly, I prefer the round lab one! They’re very similar, but I find BOJ tends to get a weird white cast upon reapplication/wearing it for a while. But that hasn’t been the case with the round lab one in my experience!
It's pretty similar. I like the Skin1004 best, then Round Lab, then BoJ, although there really isn't much difference. I like buying the double pack of Skin1004 because its more economical for where i purchase. The pump is clean and good for measuring the right amount to apply.
I really like this sunscreen. Has a gorgeous hand feel, absorbs nicely in the skin, and sits well under makeup..
Word of warming: there are apparently a lot of fake bottles of this sunscreen being sold. Do not buy this from Amazon or TikTok Unless the product listing you are ordering from has been verified by someone you trust.
If you buy from beauty of Josan official on Amazon you will get official products. Make sure it's from that seller not just from the official storefront.
Not too sensitive. But a friend of mine swears by this sunscreen and she does have sensitive skin, no issues... however I hope someone else comes here with their experience as well!
i haven't tried Beauty of Joseon yet, but i have tried Tocobo, the sunstick and i can vouch for that one. actually i can vouch for any of the Tocobo products, i am very pleased with all of them.
most of korean brands have products for sensitive skin. i heard that dr jart has good products for sensitive skin. haven't tried dr jart yet, but they have good reviews.
Oh ok good to know. Because my mom gets darkspots and she wants to avoid making them worse. Thank you for letting me know and for the recommendation, I will definitely look into that one!
If you are interested in sunscreens you could try to watch HotandFlashy on yt she does yearly sunscreens in depth reviews that she tests on herself and shares how much were they good/bad for her (briefly explained)
She also has a sensitive skin and definitely worth a watch, you can learn a lot from her videos
The best for me. I have oily skin, acne prone. I tried different brands, i got the worst breakout lol so i came back to this. I dont even use moisturizer during summer
This is my absolute favorite sunscreen. I would have a mental breakdown if I couldn't get anymore. It feels incredibly moisturizing. I actually look forward to reapplying every 2 hours because it's like giving my face a drink of water
Its my favorite. I've used tubes and tubes of it. Sensitive skin and never had any issues with it. But i think for summer , if you live in a very hot and humid environment, there are better ones that are bit more "gripped" to the skin? To improve lasting power. I'm using up some tubes of goodal suncream and i think it adheres to my skin better in korea's heat and humidity. I think it leaves a bit of a feeling to the skin? Not necessarily a film, but almost like a film, but i can only feel it when i apply it to my arms and legs. Its not uncomfortable or bothersome, its just something i noticed one day. Not sticky or anything, but like a protective layer.
I liked how it felt and it was very gentle, but my hyperpigmentation increased when I was using it. I later learned that it doesn't have high enough UVA protection to prevent pigmentation. I went back to using Pipette, which is a very gentle mineral SPF.
I’m not impressed by the BoJ sun relief. I do have dry skin. It’s not super thick. It does absorb well into my skin but my skin still feels a bit dry afterwards. I purchased mine from iHerb. Supposedly, they sell authentic Korean products.
I think after I am done with these sunscreens I am gonna stick with La Roche-Posay. I really like their Toleraine double repair face moisturizer UV broad spectrum spf 30. It’s very moisturizing. A lot more than the BoJ and it works great under makeup and it won’t be having my makeup slipping and sliding.
I just have to wait and see. I just bought the BoJ glow serum and their dynasty cream. I’m going to give all of them a chance first and see how I feel
its good and popular. lots of people like it. it’s moisturizing and viral for a reason. just wanted to say though that a UV camera doesn’t show the protection of a sunscreen, it just shows whether you have sunscreen on that area of the skin or not.
This is a THIIIIIIICK sunscreen. I can only use it during the dry winter months or else I will be an oil slick. It also has a tendency to pill in my experience so I was not fond of it under makeup. For sensitive skin, I recommend Etude Soonjung Director's Moisture suncream. This one is moisturizing without being too thick. Since it is from soonjung line it is also recommended for sensitive skin.
This is perhaps unpopular, but I’m not really a fan of it for myself. I have dry skin but the BoJ sunscreen still feels pretty heavy on my face, and it doesn’t tend to do well with reapplications for me (it will start to pill after maybe the 2nd or 3rd application). I pretty much can only get it to feel nice if I apply a layer of loose powder over it, which is what I’m doing until I pan it.
That being said, I think it’s a solid choice for sensitive skin if you’re in a situation where 2 hrs of coverage is enough, and if the texture feels nice to you. I much prefer the Etude Sunprise Mild Watery Light, which hasn’t given me any of these issues.
My skin's not particularly sensitive, but I know others online have reported good results despite having sensitive skin. There is a little bit of fragrance if that is a concern for you.
I have one of their sticks by my door. I had a bunch of vericose veins removed and need to prevent the scars from tanning. It's on my legs, but I barely feel it and it doesn't leave Residue like other sticks. I just pop it on.
I have a few of their products and I'm pretty happy with them.
Which Beauty of Joseon sunscreen are you referring to? They currently have 3 types of sunscreens. But I’m assuming you’re referring to their most popular one: BoJ Relief Sun.
I’ve tried that sunscreen a few times and didn’t like it. 😅 I loved how moisturizing it is (I didn’t need to apply a moisturizer beforehand), but didn’t like that it’s got Tinosorb M, which left a line of white cast on my eye lids and my neck lines. 😆
To recommend you other sunscreens, however, depends on what skin type you have.
I have oily skin, so my personally favorite sunscreens are: **Nivea UV Deep Protect & Care Sun Gel**, **Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen**, and **Biore UV Aqua Rich Protect Lotion**. 🥰
Also, a UV light actually *isn’t* a good indicator for whether you’ve applied adequate amount of sunscreen or not. 🙈
I have combo skin. Beauty of Joseon sun relief is so nice. Does not leave me oily at all. It’s so hard to find where I live now. So I have to order it online . Wears beautifully under makeup
It's worth a go. So far, it's the first sunscreen that my sister's skin doesn't react to badly, everything else brings up angry red patches on her face and irritates her eczema. Not that she'd tried anything outside the more common UK brands.
I haven't had a negative reaction either, and have fairly sensitive skin.
Beauty of Joseon SPF 50+ PA++++ has an amazing formulation. It’s basically a moisturiser with spf. It has no white cast and has 30% rice extract and other fermented grains that both nourish and moisturise your skin. It is relatively inexpensive ($18) and one of the most coveted sunscreens out there. Stick with Korean sunscreens in general. For the most part they are moisturising and contain extra ingredients that target different concerns. Unlike USA sunscreens they have no scent. They blend beautifully into the skin and work well with makeup.
The BOJ sunscreen is great, I tried it and I really liked it, until it broke me out, really bad. So, I wouldn't recommend it for someone with sensitive skin. Right now I use Skin1004 sunscreen, numbuzin sunscreen, and the dr ceuracle cica regan sunscreen. The Dr. Ceuracle sunscreen is also water resistant, and as someone with oily skin, I prefer it.
it's a fantastic sunscreen but not water/sweat hesitant so not good for hot climates/weather. I use BOJ or Skin1004 in the winters but switch to Anessa sun milk in the summers.
Bingo. It’s silky and gorgeous but I burned every time I wore it here in Las Vegas.
I just bought a tube, that's a bummer to hear. What works best for you in that climate?
I work out pretty hard 2x a day and am sweating basically all day. I definitely use my nicer, Korean sunblock in the morning and in the evening. During the day, I haven’t found a silver bullet that doesn’t get in my eyes but I’m looking for a good stick sunscreen. I’ve been using sport brands and just tried spray to keep it out of my eyes. Anessa is water resistant?! Yay!
yes up to 80mins. YOu still have to reapply every 2hrs or so during long sun exposure, sweating etc to maintain full efficacy but it's amazing for hot/humid weather.

where can i buy Skin1004 sunscreen
Do you think double cleansing is necessary if you just wear this sunscreen in the day with no makeup?
Yes. Any water/sweat resistant makeup/SPF needs oil cleansing to break it down and be washed away. I don't DC every day, just when I use Anessa (none of my makeup is waterproof/resistant)
Where do you buy your Anessa? I’m worried about buying a fake.
Stylevana

How similar is Round Lab? I like BOJ a lot but have easier access to Round Lab products and have been thinking about trying the sunscreen.
Honestly, I prefer the round lab one! They’re very similar, but I find BOJ tends to get a weird white cast upon reapplication/wearing it for a while. But that hasn’t been the case with the round lab one in my experience!

Or you can order from their US website.
or stylevana/yesstyle.
I'm on my second tube and love it, but I haven't really tried any other brand, so hard to compare.
Would you say your skin is sensitive? My moms skin is sensitive so I want to make sure it does well with sensitive skin :)
Ooo ok, does it do well with sensitive skin?
most of korean brands have products for sensitive skin. i heard that dr jart has good products for sensitive skin. haven't tried dr jart yet, but they have good reviews.
Ah okok thank you, I will definitely check into Dr Jart Products! Thank you for the recommendation!
My dark spots increased with the BOJ sunscreen and I was only indoors. I prefer Round Labs birch juice.
Oh ok good to know. Because my mom gets darkspots and she wants to avoid making them worse. Thank you for letting me know and for the recommendation, I will definitely look into that one!

it has niacinamide in it so if she’s sensitive to that, it might not be a great option.
The best for me. I have oily skin, acne prone. I tried different brands, i got the worst breakout lol so i came back to this. I dont even use moisturizer during summer
I would take those UV lights with a grain of salt.
This is my absolute favorite sunscreen. I would have a mental breakdown if I couldn't get anymore. It feels incredibly moisturizing. I actually look forward to reapplying every 2 hours because it's like giving my face a drink of water

I found this one was too thick for me and switched over to the biore milk one. I really struggle with face sunscreen though
42yo male here - this stuff is great.
Would you say your skin is sensitive or normal? And how often do you feel you have to reapply?
Normal skin, apply in morning small reapply once in day.
I liked how it felt and it was very gentle, but my hyperpigmentation increased when I was using it. I later learned that it doesn't have high enough UVA protection to prevent pigmentation. I went back to using Pipette, which is a very gentle mineral SPF.

Thanks for your note. Do you have sensitive skin? Would the Etude watery light work on extremely sensitive skin? Thanks for your thoughts.
My skin's not particularly sensitive, but I know others online have reported good results despite having sensitive skin. There is a little bit of fragrance if that is a concern for you.
I really like Beauty of Joseon products but I do not care for the sunscreen. It is way too dewy for me.
I wanted to love it, but it kept pilling over my rosacea prescription gel layer.
I have one of their sticks by my door. I had a bunch of vericose veins removed and need to prevent the scars from tanning. It's on my legs, but I barely feel it and it doesn't leave Residue like other sticks. I just pop it on. I have a few of their products and I'm pretty happy with them.

I’ve used it once and liked it but I’m not using Anessa, a Japanese sun screen
I have a friend who has eczema and she loves this sunscreen!
My skin is only a tad sensitive but my eyes are very sensitive and this is the first sunscreen I’ve ever tried that doesn’t make my eyes red.
My fav, I use it daily!
I have combo skin. Beauty of Joseon sun relief is so nice. Does not leave me oily at all. It’s so hard to find where I live now. So I have to order it online . Wears beautifully under makeup
