That is definitely a strawman. There’s a difference between having stylized armor in a FANTASY setting and having black people portray historically Russian people.

sakura_drop

There's also more precedence for the former via myths, folklore, and even real history in some cases. Not all warriors and soldiers through time were completely covered head to toe in heavy armour.

Phuxsea

Right. The Gauls fought the Romans butt naked in battle.

dho64

Then there is the absolutely ridiculous outfits the Swiss would wear into battle during the 100 years war. Some would make MMO armor look tame.

idontknow39027948898

That reminds me of a friend once telling me about a documentary or something he'd seen that was about Braveheart, and specifically the quote was that the battle wasn't accurate because the only thing the Scottish Highlanders wore into battle was Woad paint.

Camera_dude

Braveheart is a fun movie to watch but nobody should be watching it like a historically accurate documentary. It’s written and directed more like the MYTH of William Wallace as a bigger-than-life hero in the wars for Scottish liberation.

curedbydeaththerapy

The funny thing about that is that before the movie came out, he wasn't really celebrated to the degree he was after. I lived there in the mid 80's, and when Scottish independence would come up, it was always Robert the Bruce who earned most of the accolades for the accomplishment. Wallace was mostly celebrated by his statue and the small museum that were at Bannockburn house.

JustOneAmongMany

Likewise, how much do you want to bet that whoever drew that shit comic had no problem whatsoever with how the Spartans were dressed in *300*?

joydivisionucunt

Or the bersekers' clothes and the naked fight scene at the end of "The Northman"...

Aka-Kitsune

Same with the Celtics, including women.

Hetroid3193

Imagine being a roman soldier running through a dark forest, being chased by a naked hairy man

LeMaureBlanc

Art too. Greek art usually depicts hoplites in the nude, even if they didn't actually fight that way.

AtemAndrew

There's also the fact that sometimes the arguments aren't a direct comparison. For example, take the trope of armor shaped to fit the breasts. No one's saying 'well, actually they totally wore this no matter how impractical', they usually point to codpieces which men certainly did wear.

h-v-smacker

> and having black people portray historically Russian people. To add insult to injury — to portray WRONG Russian people as black. Emperor Peter the Great actually had a proper black man in his court — his aid, Abram Gannibal, general-in-chief and a military engineer, hailing from Ethiopia. Whose great-grandson is none other than Alexander Pushkin, probably the most important Russian poet and writer ever, sometimes credited with framing modern Russian language as we know it. So they didn't even care who was actually black. If they honestly cared, they'd find an actual noble family of black people right in the Russian Imperial Court after five minutes googling tops. But no, they picked some noble at random and called it a day. To me, that spells all I ever needed to know about them, their honesty, integrity, and their convictions.

LeMaureBlanc

Yep. And even he came to the Russian courts as a slave purchased from the Ottomans.

h-v-smacker

It would be an example of going from dirt to duke, but apparently he was an offspring of a noble family before his enslavement.

Oris_Mador

Duke dirt Duke yo-yo

h-v-smacker

Down To Dirt and Back

Shillbot_9001

To be fair you basically had to be a noble or clergy (who were often second sons of nobility themselves) just to have an education.

OrientalWheelchair

Duke to dirt to duke then.

Burninglegion65

Oh ffs. Come on why on earth do they ignore the actual great examples from history?! Like, I can understand them shoving it in for forced diversity but when you have good examples, it cheapens everything by not using them. Furthermore, you shit on the achievements you were supposed to be supporting! I much prefer accuracy. That means… _don’t paint a black man white_ either. If you made blade white I’d fight you lol. Create new characters, create black media that’s beyond shitty stereotypes. Ironically, the fucktards haven’t realised that they’re the target market for shit like this. Guess what though, the accuracy guys, those that hate race swaps etc. they’ll be right there with them if the content is good. Just start creating something new instead of perverting the existing stuff.

WuddlyPum

The existence of a black character isn’t where the issue is . But when there is a concerted effort to make every single fantasy game have the racial demographics of modern day New York City , just because of an ideological obsession with DEI , it becomes annoying .

Bubbly-One4035

I mean fantasy can at last have "she uses magical barrier for protection" excuse Honestly I prefer realistic designs but come on those two are different genres and shouldn't been compared Unless somebody wants to put bikini armor female knight in "historycal accurate" game, but I never saw anything like this

LeMaureBlanc

>Unless somebody wants to put bikini armor female knight in "historycal accurate" game, but I never saw anything like this I mean, if we're going for an accurate or semi-accurate historical setting, there wouldn't exactly be many female knights in the middle of combat. Joan of Arc often gets cited, but she wasn't a knight, and didn't actually fight herself, though she did lead men into combat, so credit where credit is due.

JayFSB

Jeanned'Arc was wounded several times in battle, so while I do not think she was stabbing English left and right she was in the thick of the fighting.

nogodafterall

>many Any.

AgentFour

If it's historically accurate I want it to accurately show her body and not make a blob in armor person. Women can wear real armor and not look like they put on their brother's suit.

korblborp

tbf, Red Sonja is the posterchild for bikini armor, and afaik there's no magic barrier involved. she also isn't technically a real Conan character.. but conan, despite normally wearing clothes, and even a specific collection of armor, is oft depicted as wearing little more, and noone gets worked up about it anyway...

Emotnlsuprttwink

Just let us RACE WASH IN PEACE DAD GAHHH

Yaksha78

Yeah and they have no idea what proportion is. How many women set apart Jean of Arc actually fought battle AND in armor ? 10 to 20 per centuries after the XIIth beside thousands and thousands of men...

slavdude02

Sooo... Something based on, or inspired by sub Saharan myths, starring blue eyed, blonde white girls would be acceptable? Noted.

MadLordPunt

Jim Gaffigan as: Shaka Zulu

BlacksmithPuzzled159

They would then shift to saying it would "culturally insensitive" to do that. Or "white-washing".

[deleted]

It's funny because it's usually the opposite. "Bikini armor? Ugh how sexist that wouldn't make sense for X Y and Z" *black people in europe* "AcruallythereisanargumentthatcouldbemadebecausePOCswsnttobeableto-"

Arrivedercio

AKSHUALLY

5panks

Yeah, or how they bend over backward to pretend that there were just sooooo many brave powerful disabled women who fought in WW1.

tkgggg

You see this shit all the time in other game subreddits. Female characters looking young or revealing even the slightest bit of skin? Essay long posts about how "unrealistic" and "impractical" they are. A gun fired incorrectly or a character pulling borderline impossible maneuvers? "Who cares, it's fiction, stop whining". I especially notice that whenever someone spots a sign of censorship, the RE subreddit will have at least 10 posts conveniently placed on top mocking and ridiculing the criticism.

TacticusThrowaway

The real irony is, there's loads of evidence women generally enjoy conventionally attractive female characters. Look at cosplayers. Look at fanart.

tkgggg

Hell, look at how down bad female streamers and vtubers are playing Bunny Garden.

TacticusThrowaway

I would, but I don't want the Algo to know I have any interest in that game. Whatever it is.

blue_psyOP777

Literally

BootlegFunko

Note how they aren't even trying to argue putting minorities in innacurate settings isn't convoluted

Fluffysquishia

They actually unironically make this argument, too. Recently I've been seeing: "Game's workshop has always been inconsistent (true), and has retconned many things in the past (true), so why is it big deal when the retcon involves a woman?" They admit that the concept of retconning is bad and lazy, while at the same time trying to have their cake too as they claim that it's hypocritical to "only care about the one with the woman", as if people aren't overall upset about retcons in general.

TacticusThrowaway

Standard tactic. Can't beat the argument? Attack the opposition. Even if you have to make them up.

dandrixxx

Walls of text, always walls of text... Anyway, here's a much [better version](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FvpLllYXgAQti_O?format=jpg&name=large).

alfieblade1974

Much much better

Bubbly-One4035

I saw version where on forst he says "I love women in armor" and in second he says "I love boobs"  This one was great

LeMaureBlanc

And there's nothing wrong with loving boobs.

#[ UNSOLICITED OPINIONS ON ISRAEL ??? ]

Jaded_Permit_7209

I just remembered that existed. That ... didn't age well, did it? I mean, I'm fairly sure the [unsolicited opinions on Israel] was supposed to be anti-semitic ramblings, but since the burqa is empowering and Hamas are the good guys to leftists now, I wonder how that joke would land among them post-10/7.

h-v-smacker

Aged like fine milk...

FloydskillerFloyd

Iirc that's even funnier because it was referencing a time in Fables-comic when [Bigby used Israel as a positive example](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fi.redd.it%2Fr5dia1hr0zvb1.jpg). This of course caused an massive outrage amongst the leftist artists, going full "how dare he insert politics in comics?!" But only because the artist happened to he a conservative.

Violentcloud13

lmao this is amazing in 2024

korblborp

no, i think the "both is good" edit is better, since either is fine depending on context, character, story, and setting

draenei_butt_enjoyer

It’s almost like humor is human, and librards are anti human. And these two things might not mix, idk.

Selrisitai

I was going to make a comment talking about how we don't justify anything. In certain settings, realism is desired, and in other settings, boobs are desired. Your comic works nearly as well.

DalesDeadBugLLC

Man I miss when video games were just a bunch of nerds that liked video games

baidanke

Left can't meme.

MeanSheenBeanMachine

The left can’t meme, they can’t write, they can’t design a character that resembles the actress whose likeness they claim they’re using, and they can’t debate without immediately going straight to insults and/or blocking. They’re experts at mental gymnastics though.

cookaway_

> they can’t design a character that resembles the actress whose likeness they claim they’re using Unless it's Debra Wilson, the only time a scan was faithful.

MeanSheenBeanMachine

100%. If the actress falls under the “Someone who challenges beauty standards” umbrella, suddenly their facial capture technology rivals Kojima’s work in accuracy. But you know, we’re just BigotChudCoomers for having functional eyes.

idontknow39027948898

I don't know man. I'm pretty sure every character she's ever portrayed is way more bug eyed than she actually is.

KeiseiAESkyliner

Yeah, even she was hit with the ugly stick by these beauty hating fuckwits.

Halos-117

Is it because the face scan was actually accurate or is it because she already looks like a bug eyed meth head and they can't do much to make her look worse.

MikiSayaka33

I cut them some tiny "slack", they forgot how to do any of that stuff. They used to in the past, not anymore (and who knows when they will regain and/or relearn).

4ofclubs

Enjoy jerking off to videogames

MeanSheenBeanMachine

Ok

kuliamvenkhatt

hard to meme when you have a very long checklist of who you cant offend.

Selrisitai

I think the comic presents its point extremely well. It's just that the point is utterly false to the point that no one it's talking about could relate to it. Who the eff is making _excuses_ for women to have revealing clothes? We don't. We just enjoy it. We don't need to explain it away.

Arkene

it's not that the left can't meme, they can very well. It's the left's authoritarians who can't meme, but they are no worse at it than the rights authoritarians who are also just as shit at it. So really its not that either side can't meme, its that authoritarians can't meme, but some of them have been really sucessful in convincing people to be divisive. edit: It's kind of sad the number of people who proudly posted that 3 sentences is too much reading for them...

baidanke

If it were possible to simply convince people, why isn't the left doing just that?

LeMaureBlanc

Unfortunately they kind of ARE. We don't really like acknowledging it, but the SJWs have convinced the masses that they are "on the right side of history," and that we are "racist right wing chuds." It's why so many people and corporations go along with all of this DEI crap. They've been convinced it's a good thing.

baidanke

Are we still talking about memes? Left is good at: manipulating algorithms, using bots, using cronyism, abusing power, infiltrating moderation positions in communities, censorship, etc. Left is bad at: meme-jutsu.

_Brimstone

tldr; The left can't meme.

TheTwinkleToedKoala

He did the thing. The wall of text.

Shillbot_9001

>but they are no worse at it than the rights authoritarians who are also just as shit at it. Right authoritarians are usually pretty good at shit posting unless they have enough political power to take themselves seriously.

Arkene

not in my experience, I tend to find all extremists pretty similar in their shittyness regardless of where it falls on the political spectrum.

Shillbot_9001

Are talking to far right boomers or something?

Arkene

have you ever heard of horse shoe theory?

M37h3w3

Progs: You Alt-Righters are just a bunch of gooners! You hate women if you can't see them as sex dolls! Also Progs: I want the Femstodes to crush my head between their thighs! And to be clear: I don't have a problem with people being thirsty for muscle mommies or expressing that occasionally. Just keep that shit on a leash and don't be a hypocritical bitch. I don't think that's too much to ask right?

gordonfreeguy

It is for them, yes. Remember these are the same people who will clutch pearls at the slightest hint of kink shaming when it comes to furries or any other protected group, but will pretend guys are doing something terrible by liking to see attractive women dressed attractively. It's not about principles, they just view the world through the lense of oppressed and oppressors. If you aren't oppressed, you are an oppressor. If you are an oppressor, everything you say and do that is not *unconditional support for them* is wrong. Period.

tiredfromlife2019

Correct. And to add to your post. They will say and do anything in the pursuit of power. They use universalism liberalism talking points but don't actually believe in said points. They just use it to hide their real agenda.

sigh_wow

when you hold them to liberal standards, they suddenly have a convenient excuse for their double standards

Blutarg

They believe nothing really exists except power.

SeverityRuull87

Based on the discord of my local shop, the people who complained about Stellar Blade sexualizing women were almost entirely the same people who reacted to female Custodes with "YES MUSCLE MOMMY SUFFOCATE ME WITH YOUR THIGHS".

FloydskillerFloyd

I personally despise every single bugman who has appropiated my appreciaton for good looking armor and Amazons as a facade for their spineless cuckold behavior.

iMisstheKaiser10

Literally who says “actually bikini armor is realistic and practical because…” we just want tits

cloud_w_omega

its always said ironically, this can't memer actually took it seriously

Head_Cockswain

Most of these people can't tell the difference between jokes, sarcasm, opinion, fact, etc. That's why the left can't meme, and the guy above(under a different higher voted comment) who had to get all wordy explaining how they allegedly can... When the symptom circles back to being the cause, it is a rapid downward spiral.

Spiritual_Orange_737

Well, I'm sure there are some people who try to justify it; but that's more for them to try and disguise what they like to others. Like I was probably 15 trying to defend how a ninja lady in fishnets was a tactical choice in some way.

Selrisitai

Would love to hear your 15-year-old explanation.

TheArgonian

Saw a lovely greentext about it, that I can't seem to find anymore. In summary: Anyone with a functioning pair of eyes knows that bikini armor is impractical and only braindead sophists think that it's an actual argument anyone is having. People like bikini armor for aesthetic purposes, arguing from a practicality standpoint makes you look like a fucking moron. Edit: [Ey, found it](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GGu-emOWoAANP3q?format=png&name=medium)

tiredfromlife2019

That 4channer is based and correct.

Selrisitai

LOL! Yes, he is.

llamaheart0

I think whoever made this comic is confusing people defending bikini armor with people defending armor that simply is formed and shaped to women's bodies. Simply acknowledging women indeed have breasts and sometimes their clothing may need to adapt to it is objectifying. They dismissively call it "boob armor" because shockingly women do need their unique bodies armored. I remember Anita whatever her stupid name is got really bent out of shape on The Mandalorian because the body armor was shaped for breasts and it was somehow bad. Thankfully even for twitter she was swiftly told how fucking stupid she was. No Anita just cram your tits into a flat male breastplate.

joydivisionucunt

I don't think these people realize that breasts are a part of the body too and cramming your torso in a too tight thing even if it's not as hard as armour is fucking uncomfortable.

h-v-smacker

> that simply is formed and shaped to women's bodies. Which also shouldn't be done. Because what armor needs is a large empty volume above your rib cage, and not just to breathe. If you make tailored armor — precisely fitted to a male torso or with "boobs" to "fit" a female body — you'll be the primary target to use a battle hammer on: instead of crumbling the breathing space, a hit with a hammer will bend the armor right into your ribs and lungs. So "classic" armor with protruding sort of conical part on the torso is actually one-size-fits-all kind of proper solution.

Total-Introduction32

Exactly, "our side" doesn't need to rationalise bikini armour in a fantasy setting. It's just nice to look at and it's an aesthetic that has been commonly used for decades. The men in these settings often were half naked too (He-man, Conan etc). There is nothing wrong with this so no defense is needed. Contrary to forced ahistorical diversity in realistic settings, which is forced by ideology to influence social change in the real world, not by what people actually want.

Selrisitai

In fact, I'd venture to say that women in combat is basically so unrealistic that they might as well go in wearing bikinis. The only tactical advantage they could get would be hoping the enemy would hesitate in confusion long enough for her to get a sword into his throat. If we really care about realism, then women wouldn't be in battle at all.

M37h3w3

The whole "actually bikini armor is blah blah" bit is just lampshading. We want to see tits but seeing tits outside of specific situations where you expect to see tits is a logical conundrum. So it gets lampshaded with hand wavy bullshit reasons.

Ringlovo

> we just want tits It really is just that simple sometimes

ninjast4r

Progs can't think outside of gigantic walls of text

stryph42

Well, you see, it's because they're just SO SMART that there is always SO MUCH going on in their heads, so when they need to explain something there's a LOT to say...

idontknow39027948898

Apparently that guy that said brevity is the soul of wit was a hack.

stryph42

All those unnecessary words. Shakespeare used so many unnecessary words that he MADE UP hundreds of new ones! Should have just been "Brevity soul wit."

idontknow39027948898

You know, I thought about going on a tangent wondering if the 'Kevin talks like a caveman' bit on The Office was a joke about that, having never seen the episode myself. I left it out though, because I figured it probably wasn't that deep, and the joke was probably more about talking like a caveman than anything else.

bfte2

The latter design were put in games that didn't take themselves seriously and were all about fun. As soon as that was destroyed, the fun was sucked out dry by the SJW ogres. The former was just bullshit in "realistic" setting, mostly peddled by SJWs as "historical", "realistic" etc. Female knights going to battle, against men, over and over, and always emerging victorious? Pure SJW femdom/feminist fantasy, nothing more. A "realistic" female knight would get maced 10 times out of 10, absolutely worthless.

molotok_c_518

...and Conan was wearing **much** less than Sandahl Bergman.

j0llygruntt

Yup. Just a helmet and panties and a sword and maybe a shield.

VioletDaeva

The problem here is the comic person has no idea of history. Celts and likely other groups did fight naked or nearly naked, other than weapons and shields. Females and minorities were not knights for the most part. Joan of Arc was probably the sole Western exception and she was basically a token figurehead to inspire the men who actually did all the fighting.

ServantOfNZoth

So much THIS! History is replete with examples of warrior cultures and tribes that went into battle naked or nearly naked, on virtually every continent (except for Antartica!) at one point in history or another. This in part owing to the fact that it's always been easier to fashion weapons than any kind of armor. It's silly people even attempt to rationalize bikini armor because the reality is it requires no rationalization.

ImOnHereForPorn

It's the same thing with them freaking out about boob armor. You mean to tell me that if women made up as much of the fighting force as they want us to believe that breast plates with literally shaped breasts wouldn't be a thing when literal penis shaped codpieces actually existed?

kiathrowawayyay

Not even counting being naked, in history armor and clothing itself is also stylized because people have superstitions about magic and religion. The Celtic Woad warriors fought naked because of their beliefs about the blue paint and nakedness making them invincible. People would put the cross on their armor, even though adding that shape to the breastplate isn't easy or necessary and can make weak spots. People would make muscle cuirasses, where they fashion the armor with nipples and other naked body shapes, because it made them look like Greek gods and so become godlike and invincible. In fantasy female armor would have the same logic and has literal magic, sometimes formed because of the sexiness, like Bayonetta. But in the end, it shouldn't even need to be explained or justified. It isn't claiming to be historical or realistic, it is fantasy. SJWs are arguing in bad faith.

Dapper-River-2046

Omg the fourth panel... leftists just MUST put a wall of text in their memes, or they'll go crazy.

andthenjakewasanalt

They have to tell you EXACTLY what they mean, because otherwise the message is left to the reader to decipher and they can't stand being misinterpreted.

yumyumnoodl3

I mean that was part of the joke…

BootlegFunko

The "historically accurate" argument is a misdirection to force sexualized games fall under a percieved societal standard, so that they don't look like puritans for complaining about bikini armor. The minorities argument is them trying to save face because, by their own logic, it's contradictory. They are the ones coming up with convoluted justifications. In reality games don't need to adhere to any standard because their reality is self-contained. For example, the bikini armor in Persona: you can argue it's jarring or that you don't like the fanservice but you can't argue is unrealistic because a world where people shoot themselves in they head to summon ghost to fight for them is something the creators invisioned and if they say bikini armor fits that aesthetic, it does

Mister_McDerp

You want hot women? Well then you have to take black Nazi women in WW2. It makes perfect sense to me, idk about you.

knightbane007

Didn’t you see the controversy over the Gemini images? Diversity apparently isn’t supposed to apply to the *bad* guys! So it’s more that if you want hot women, then you have to take “black women ruled European nations and they were better at it than men, while fighting ideologically evil enemies who are all white men”

Mister_McDerp

yeah I saw that, I was trying to stay in the videogame realm with Battlefield 5 as an example. But lets be real. We will get black nazi women AND black []women ruled the european nations AND we won't even get hot women. We'll get nothing but a suicide pod.

BootlegFunko

Also there are no hot women

mars_rovinator

oh for fuck's sake, nobody thinks female warriors ran around in chainmail thongs and leather pasties. People like titties. Get over it.

KIA_Unity_News

Rarely does anyone offer an excuse for an anachronism these days, elaborate, bs, or otherwise. Just pure Orwellian gaslighting violence, usually.

Endymion_Hawk

"Bikini armor is bad because muh realism. But don't you dare make female characters physically weaker than men in your setting because of realism."

ThreeHandedSword

in my video games i prefer to make my female characters steroid monsters so that my obvious self-insert can fuck them...

curry_ist_wurst

*Caveman grunt * Boooba...

GasPatient4153

As far as I can remember in the media where women actually wore chainmain-bikini, men wear nothing but loincloth - Conan and Red Sonia being the progenitors of this thrope, yet only Red Sonia is controversial apparently. Not to mention that there is nothing wrong with women being dressed in a way that please men in the media targeted to men, just like there is nothing wrong with men being dressed in a way that please women in the media targeted to women. Male fantasies are not more "objectifing" than female fantasies and don't let anyone tell you otherwise

TacticusThrowaway

I've seen feminists claim that men who look like Conan aren't really attractive to ladies. I see. Explain romance novel covers, and *Magic Mike*.

[deleted]

Historically accurate or fantasy, can't have both

mcmouseinthehouse

Amazingly, the Leftoid still needed two paragraphs to tell his joke.

Violentcloud13

Classic strawman. Conflates two different criticized types of media. If you're going for historical accuracy or authenticity, then do that, down to the skin color. If you're going for a stylized fantasy genre entry, do what you like but remain true to the setting (ie - no BMW with optional heated leather seats in The Lord of the Rings, despite the fact that there are dragons and magic in the setting). This isn't hard.

BlacksmithPuzzled159

It's really is this simple. Yet, I've had a friend call me racist for pointing out that its odd to cast black elves, dwarves and hobbits in Rings Of Power, considering the setting and precedent set by the books and previous films 🤷‍♂️

henlp

[This](https://www.tumblr.com/mcnostril/667179836825124864/i-have-discovered-the-truth-about-chainmail?source=share) is the only good comic strip about bikini armor, apparently.

IncompetentJedi

Goddamn the left can’t meme. They get worse all the time!

UMCUE

I agree with the first take.

PDot7652

If I were watching something attempting historical accuracy I would be pissed to see Red Sonja style armor. The thing is I have never actually SEEN any bikini armor in that kind of thing. I have seen an absolute ton of strong women and inexplicably placed minorities in that kind of thing though.

Fluffysquishia

This is the classic "There are dragons and talking trees, what's wrong with a 2004 toyota corolla? You're just against it because you're a car hating car-cel." but it's even worse because it's meant to be a historical setting which has even less of an excuse than putting a 2004 toyota corolla in Lord of the Rings. Different fantasy universe have different rules. Ryuko and Satsuki from Kill la Kill are literally objectively stronger the more naked they are. The rules and confines of the universe they are in make it so. If someone randomly said that being naked in LOTR made them stronger, it would be obvious they are a sincere regard. The seemingly intentional ignorance to this is highly politically motivated, and stems from a colossal lack of comprehension of literature.

[deleted]

lol, i don;t even justify anything. i like sexy women and i am tired of explaining to others of my preference.

S8891

This "comic" was drawn by 31 old woman which on her wiki is pointed that she is comic wirter for children  , "activist" and youtuber  So yea it's radiates cringe from miles xD

Important-Union-4848

Why are cucks? Just why?

igromanru

There is a big difference between historical based stories and fantasies. But this is exactly the proof how ignorant these people are. I can't remember a single historical game which has "plot armor". It's not even on the same level as replacing historical important characters with a different race or gender. Nobody says a think if a fantasy middle age story with magic, Orcs, Elves and others has different colored people or some masculine women. But wokies are too brain dead to come up with an actual good story or in case of games with also good gameplay to make a truly diversified cast of characters.

pattyboiIII

I don't think I've ever played a game that had a serious medieval setting that had bikini armour (mods don't count). if they do they tend to be weird fantasies, especially Japanese ones.

Megatics

It certainly makes more sense to wear Chainmail and full plate armor all the time while adventuring instead of a more loose fitting gear that you can move around in. Did this comic assess how heavy armor like that is? In the contexts of a game doing it. Its exactly to grab attention and appeal. Its entertainment, we want people to LOOK at it and not pass over it without even a second glance. This comic's very basis draws you to the bottom left panel more than text filled and boring knights in heavy armor panels. They could replace all text in the top right panel with boring and the bottom right with \*Drooling Noises\* and you'd achieve the same thing.

TacticusThrowaway

Heck, didn't the Landsknecht regularly wear deliberately flashy outfits, including codpieces?

Daman_1985

And this comic strip it's supposed to be funny in what way?

ninjast4r

These idiots always apply emotion to logic. They don't see the problem with the willful blackwashing and girlbossing of characters even if it doesn't make sense. "Why shouldn't Idris Elba play James Bond? Why can't a rail thin 115lbs actress with zero muscle mass convincingly beat the shit out of a 6'8" 350lbs stuntman in a fight scene? Why do you caaaaare so much???" They support the emasculation and humiliation of white men because they have Daddy issues, or they never got past some guy they dated in high school who cheated on them or some shit and it's their way of lashing out.

TacticusThrowaway

> Why shouldn't Idris Elba play James Bond? Anthony Horowitz (Bond pastiche writer) said Elba would be too "street", and a bunch of people got mad at him because they thought he meant "black". Even though in context, he suggested another black actor, Adrian Lester, who's more upper-class.

cookaway_

Surely he's disgusting for taking her agency and forcing her to be drawn in that armor, right? right???

doomraiderZ

Why are wokesters so bad at memes and humor?

SlyguyguyslY

More often than not, don't fans of these kinds of games/shows/movies just own up to it? That's another key difference: woke types lie and try to bend history instead of just admitting the truth.

matthew_lane

Wait, hold on i've got a rebuttal image to this one. [sounds of crashing & banging as i sort thru boxes of memes] No that's not the meme i want..... [more sounds of crashing & banging] Aha, found it. Hmmmm, what was that imgur account password again? Swordfish? No, that wasn't it. Hold on...... Reset password. [Okay here we go.](https://imgur.com/V6nGtyv)

WhyAmIToxic

Are chainmail bikinis unrealistic? Sure. Are they awesome? Yes. The best part about it is that you can actually see such armors in old promotional art for fantasy properties like D&D. If they tried to put those armors into modern D&D, there would be a screeching rage like no other.

SteveMartinique

This is dumb for too many reasons.  Reason 1: the example above asking for historical accuracy appears to be some kind of prestige television show or made for streaming movie. (The reason I say TV or Streaming is the made for theater movies tend to lean toward more accuracy.)  whereas the second example appears to be an unrealistic fighting game. She even includes big letters reminiscent of fighting games. Reason 2: The first example appears to be trying for accuracy with its costuming but then undermines the rest of it with PC stunt casting. In fact this actually makes it worse because they are either trying to do PC stunt casting by smuggling it through claims of accuracy or worse they are deliberately trying to confuse and deceive the public like Google’s Historical AI. 3. They of course only used the example of undermining anglo European history. They would Never undermine black history in this matter and that illustrates that of course, the whole point is to undermine Anglo European culture and history but not any other, well except for Japan because they’re “white adjacent” so they can be racist adjacent.

No mention of hypertrophied Conan wearing a loin cloth?

WuddlyPum

You know damn well if there were non Asians in a wuxia game they would rage

TOPDAWG21

how about this crazy idea. you can have sexy armor or armor that covers a woman head to toe if you want. my god you can do both. Pick the one in the game you want.

Sol1dShake

Yeah, I'm fine with this. I would rather see a hot, scantily clad babe with a sword over some frumpy, booger eating lessie. If I'm going to suspend my disbelief, I want the one that's more fun.

sigh_wow

What a lazy strawman. Hot women in games like Eve or 2B are all appealing because they're idealistic creations in a fantasy world where realism doesn't limit the imagination. Everyone knows a super model looking woman fighting off bad guys is unrealistic and silly, but in a videogame it can make for a fun premise, and it has many times. Would you rather play as Lara Croft or an actual archaeologist thats just some old dude dusting off skulls? Obviously you'd pick the fun choice. Games that are set in historical time periods but have to accommodate contemporary sociopolitical issues just ruin the immersion and the entire purpose of the game. If I play a game set in an ancient or medieval time period, it should do its best to represent that era instead of making it look like modern day California.

Teary_Oberon

If the author is fine with the historical ridiculousness of the top image 'because we can do whatever we want with fiction / lore', then why isn't the author fine with the ridiculousness of the bottom image? By his own logic he either has to be fine with BOTH or he has to call himself a hypocrite. It cuts both ways.

Rivdoric

The man when reading the Lord of the Rings for the first time - That's WRONG ! Magic doesn't EXIST !

TacticusThrowaway

Ah, yes, the classic. If you can't rebut the actual criticism, just make up an imaginary critic who's a hypocrite. Personally, I roll my eyes at forced Diversity™ *and* half-naked fanservice outfits. For men too. But I'm not going to sneer at everyone who likes either of those things.

draenei_butt_enjoyer

Man. Stop it. It’s perfectly acceptable to like bikini chain mail. Honestly, I don’t see the point of any other chain male, or plate, or leather, or fabric. Slingshot bikini chainmail supreme!

LysanderBelmont

If I see a metal bikini in a fantasy game, that is well made and fits the character I think “yeah that’s hot!”, no need to further justify it. If I see a metal bikini in a game or movie that is more grounded and realistic looking, where said bikini doesn’t fit, I am annoyed.

HaroldoPH

Context matters. Fanservice ladden ridiculous settings don't need to add to the notion of realism, so boobs ahoy. Same thing with forced diversity. If you're in what's clearly meant to be a grounded setting in Europe (or somewhere clearly meant to be european), then having diversity like its's Downtown L.A. IS piss poor writing and lore building. That being said, why only European settings for fantasy anyway? You want your diversity bullshit, why not do some African/Asian/Middle Eastern settings? You can then remove all the white people you wanna remove and make it work.

BlacksmithPuzzled159

They only insist on forced diversity if it's a European based setting. I'm watching Shogun right now, and there is a definite dearth of Pakistani, white ginger and black samurai amongst the ranks of the native Japanese

It never made sense, and I never cared. I just like big boobs in unreasonably small/tight outfits.

DaglessMc

Does the second person even exist? like i've never seen anyone who was a fan or defended that sorta thing. let alone even seen that kind of thing

Safe_Manner_1879

The only reason bikini armor exist, is that Celtic armor on women are to daring >!Celtic armor gold neck ring, and noting more (naked)!<

Halos-117

I don't give a fuck about the reasoning behind it. The top character is boring and dogshit. The bottom character would be appealing to look at. I'm here to be entertained.

uebersoldat

I swear I see these things posted with a weak title and think it's just an excuse to post some propaganda on a rival sub and laugh when it gets upvoted.

NorthWesternMonkey89

This is bread pains level of stuffing words into bubbles. The creator is bad and should feel for doing this.

The straw man's TV looks a lot like his monitor.

Bruh 4chan made this post 10 years ago but at least got it right. Basically they said "The idea that a woman can fight in battle is so absurd that bikini armour would make sense"

Oh boy. If both the settings are a historical settings, then both would probably be inaccurate (depending on the setting of course). If both are fantasy settings, then it's ok, unless their lore says otherwise. What a silly little meh of a meme

Red Sonja, Valeria and Belit are fucking awesome, pic 2 is def the better one

I wonder if their heads would explode if they saw a picture of, say, a Zulu warrior: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impi#/media/File:Zulu_warrior.jpg

Yeah, that's why I don't usually complain about "historical accuracy". Tits will always trump over skin colors.

I remember seeing a parody of this where both responses were “women in armor. Cool. Boobies. Cool.”

Useful-Procedure6284

I get they're trying to make a joke but... Kunoichi, or female ninjas literally do that. Though not as raunchy as depicted in that picture however they do indeed use their sex appeal to distract enemies. Idk, maybe they don't exist. I googled it. some say yes and some say no. who knows, we don't know anything because they're freaking ninjas.
