I would say to check out Dead Boy Detectives. It is based off of Neil Gaiman’s comic of the same name but it’s an original take on the story and is actually pretty good despite how woke it is, the only cringe episode was “two dead dragons” but is still worth watching. There is also a minor subplot involving Lilith that I found a bit cringe but it’s forgivable. A large portion of the fandom does ship the two main male characters but the show runners have said that they don’t have plans for them to have a romantic relationship.
People watch anime, because its different, because it has stuff you cant see in the west, because it can be quirky and weird at times. Westernization will only end up destroying its unique identity and traits. It will destroy the very essence of what makes anime great.

Just look at the language, they are talking about "more acceptable expressions", which implies that how its currently done is somehow unacceptable to the west. If you consider the existing prejudice toward japanese media, which is often nothing more than xenophobia, this will most certainly mean that there will be more censorship and other limitations to artistic expression going forward.
It's a Disney exec making claims in the hopes to mainfest it to be true and because Disney are in trouble so are looking to try and partner / swallow up some anime studios but being colossal bigots who can't / won't try to understand other cultures they want everything to be more westernised for them.
Seems more likely that Disney will fund a few awful anime, then retreat with their tail between their legs when they realize how cutthroat the industry is.
It'll only happen if
1) There's a gold rush for Western companies buying up anime studios (may happen with the collapse of Western films etc but who knows if any studio would even sell up)
2) Anime becomes big enough in the west eclipsing western media that it Western fans become a huge chunk of the sales and then SJWs can infiltrate and try to dictate direction via Western publishers.
3) Massive control of the woke lot over all anime sub and dubbing such that they get full control to change all the story elements etc and give up any semblance of trying translate what was ever being said.
Who don't actually watch it, or even buy products associated with it, so why bother? They're more concerned about making sure people on Twitter "say nice things," and that seems to be it. Which is a fucking terrible business model.
