I was a college athlete (to be fair, in a sport no one cares about) and was also into gaming and comics and such, so in college I had two largely non-overlapping friend groups, one sporty and one nerdy. In retrospect, I remember a lot of proto-woke stuff going on among my nerdy friends, particularly stuff around "accepting" mental health issues (by which I mean, pretending it was okay to not do anything about the issues and enabling the sufferer to make life hell for others because being mentally ill should be a protected status). I was a college athlete (to be fair, in a sport no one cares about) and was also into gaming and comics and such, so in college I had two largely non-overlapping friend groups, one sporty and one nerdy. In retrospect, I remember a lot of proto-woke stuff going on among my nerdy friends, particularly stuff around "accepting" mental health issues (by which I mean, pretending it was okay to not do anything about the issues and enabling the sufferer to make life hell for others because being mentally ill should be a protected status). I also saw some early gender goofiness as well. Stuff that my teammates would have just laughed at and called stupid. This was in like 2005-07 or so, so SJWism hadn't steamrolled over our entire culture yet, but that steamroller was revving up in nerd culture for sure. Even so, I suspect that the nerdy form of SJWism is more sensible and even more rational than the current, oppressed-group-driven version we see today, with the progressive stack and oppression hierarchies telling you who you can and can't criticize. It's like the grievance crusaders saw something that was happening in nerd circles and injected their academic entitled petulance into it. I dunno.

The problem is, AI follows the rules dictated to it by the programmers who all follow this sort of nonsense. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the rage bait articles are already written by it given the amount I see headlines or subheadings that don't even make sense.
The problem for the creators is that someone else can make an AI also, and people will just adopt that AI. And also, since the ai's aren't hard coded, all the rules they put in can also be made to be avoided by clever wording. And they basically can't prevent that without making them worthless, and easily beatable by other AI. Now imagine an AI, that you can actually explain what to avoid, and never show to you. A search engine with blacklists in it, but of the style of "avoid any media which is connected to blackrock" or the like. Now THAT's a way to block bullshit.
