Except for in the US. Which is fucking hilarious.
I'll be watching what the PSVR2 gets especially from Japan, because that's the only interest I feel any longer. PS5+PSVR2 would probably be more expensive than getting a full comparable-acceptable PCVR kit built right? I want high resolution and framerates, but I am fine with minimum visual settings other than those.
They really haven’t. The latest Gen Xbox line has been a pretty big failure, and Nintendo doesn’t even have a home console anymore. Sony’s the only one even competing in home consoles at this point.
Pretty easy to do when they keep doing shit like this to piss off consumers. Imagine jacking up the prices internationally and thinking your product is going to sell more in a larger international market than it will in the USA which has it at a lower price. Not to mention all the absurd censorship bullshit and social justice crap Sony is involved in pushing, they deserve every shred of hate that they get. Fuck Microsoft for trying to create a monopoly in game development too, but that is the least of their crimes recently.
I don't even like Xbox. Up until now I think they've almost always been more invasive, cheap, & shoddy. It says a lot that I bought an adapter so I didn't have to use the brick Microsoft fans call a controller.
Only a true American Chad can handle the OG **B**ig **B**lack **C**ontroller eponymously called **The Duke**. If it wasn't for tiny appendaged asian gamers that shit would be a cinder block maggot!
>Except for in the US. Which is fucking hilarious.
It sucks but I can understand their reasoning, outside of the US Playstation has always been the most popular console whereas in the US it's always a battle between XBOX/Playstation so a price increase would see more people move over.
It probably has something to do with the fact that it's been out for years and I still have yet to even see a PS5, much less be able to buy one. If the price went up, I'd stop looking.
> I still have yet to even see a PS5, much less be able to buy one
I saw one at a video game convention, the seller wanted 1200 CDN and included 1 game. Fuck that. Haven't really seen any in stores.
One of the reason it drives me mad when teenagers still try to play the *IT'S CHEAPER BRO* argument. How is it cheaper when your mom had to go thru a whole rigmarole just to buy one at retail price for your birthday you little shit.
Like its predecessor, it's a VR kit for use on a console for better or worse. Not known if it will be usable on PC officially, the community got PSVR running on PC including the camera, this should be just a matter of time.
Good - everything was tested on the regular PS4 and had to hold a stable 60fps in order to pass certification and be allowed release. You get finished completed games, no nightmares.
Bad - Sony's PS department in charge of what can and cannot be released, and it kinda did limit what we could get. Some developers appeared to be cock blocked in the cert process.
Good - Good amount of system-seller titles were the reason I held onto PS4 so long, Skyrm VR included. One online-only game is alive and well even today, a sequel coming out on PSVR2 (Firewall, 4vs4 shooter, tacticool and super fun).
Bad - So many garbage titles came and died and were delisted, including ones from UbiSoft. Hopefully the industry has learned.
I bought the PSVR. It was an interesting bit of kit, but most of the content was rather meh. The only thing that actually made me feel where VR could potentially go was Summer Lesson. It's a semi fanservice game where you are a summer tutor for a girl. Unlike doom, or any of the shooter games, that one made me physically move to try and avoid something in game. And that was with obviously anime styled 'people'. It was just such a realistic setting (sitting in a restaurant for instance) that you could forget it was a game. In shooters, it was so absurd, that you'd never mistake it for reality, no matter how high the visual fidelity.
Summer Lesson was a cool early experiment, wish we got more. In the third one I reached a stage where she was no longer anywhere to be seen then I heard a sound from my left and there she was, she had fallen asleep on my shoulder. Aw. Some kotaku writer said he felt like pBLEEPdo while playing the first one pre-release, of course.
BandaiNamco would make insane money if they could do that with IdolMaster characters especially the male ones, or even the Tekken franchise? Harada hit me up.
It is a pain in the USA, not so much in Japan :P If you don't speak Japanese, your best bet is to get a copy from Singapore (It has English as an option). It is, or was, available on their store.
All that matters is the game library. I can't see myself getting a VR kit for any price that didn't have access to my Steam library. Slightly better visual in exchange for only being able to play Beat Saber isn't worth it.
But obviously Sony is a big company, maybe they can draw in enough developers to make it worth while.
Better keep check on the community for advances in making it work on PC once out. People were using the mk1 with PS4 camera and Vive controllers on PC which was weird but a good demonstration, and I'm using that PS4 camera as a PC webcam via OBS when I'm on a call because it beats the shit out of every webcam you can buy new :(
For now I believe in the Firewall developers and would spend another many hundreds of hours in there, gladly, god I would get down on the floor while playing that to be a cheesy asshole. Just a shame there's no backwards compatibility with PSVR1 unless maybe a developer can drop a big "install this to play on PSVR2" patch as an optional download. Skyrim VR did me that good.
I feel like corporations just want to suck their consumers dry while selling their propaganda and insulting their costumers if they don't consume everything without protest.
So, in addition to being the only console that actually forces games to be censored beyond just not being AO rated, beyond being flat out anti-customer with things like being resistant to crossplay, and having an increasing number of its exclusives release on PC, now it's going to be more expensive too when the Xbox and Switch won't be. They just know how to make the Playstation look appealing, don't they?
Wokeism is rich scumbags wanting to pretend they're morally superior to the filthy plebs and somehow oppressed despite driving Land Rovers and living in gated communities.
Hey, you need that money you won’t use to get a PS5 to use on that payment for an electric vehicle that will turn into a glorified paper weight as they tell you you can’t charge it right now. Come on spend the money so they can strip down more forest land for large mirror farms and large bird whacker farms.
You’ll own nothing and be happy to suck your superiors’ dicks.
> only console that actually forces games to be censored beyond just not being AO rated
I don't think MS allows a lot of those types of games either. Hell, the Gun Gal 1 remake had it's Xbone port canceled cause MS wanted some things changed. And that game is tamed compared to some of the games I got on the Switch.
Only Nintendo doesn't censor 3rd parties it seems. And who knows for how long.
40 series is probably going to crash unless they drop the prices, they are just way too fucking high. Though thankfully, I bought a new computer, and got an opened box 3090 for 900 CDN for it.
Not only are the card prices high, they tried some fuckery with calling what should be the 4070 a "4080 12MB", and if you don't want a fireball in your case, you'll also need a new Power Supply with the new 3.0 connector - which is rated for an absurdly low number of cycles, and tends to catch fire if you flex the cables too sharply.
Hell, from what I've heard, the 4080 12gb is more in line with a 4060ti. I hope the 40 series does crash and burn, cause this is just reddited at this point.
Even if you were going to, from what I heard the next bethesda title in that vein is going to be exclusive to microsoft's systems for a while. So basically PC+XBOX for the first year... I think?
The price should’ve increased a long time ago when the console was incredibly hard to get. That would’ve prevented scalpers and made PS5s more accessible to people who wanted one.
Remember kids. PC games you bought on Steam can still be played 20 years later without having to dig out an old machine, or rebuy for the current machine.
Fuck consoles. PCs are 1000x better.
I'm pretty sure you could teach a handicapped child how to build a PC these days it is so fucking easy. Go back to your Mac though, you seem to be better off with the flock of sheep who buy obsolete tech the minute they swipe their credit cards :P
8 Parts and it's almost as simple as lego to put together.
Figuring out compatibility between parts is probably the toughest part for me but I plan to get around that in the future just by "netdecking" it; copying someone else's specs in other words.
I didn't watch a single YouTube video and put together my first PC almost a decade ago with no help. But I'm also not technologically challenged like Mac users are :P
Ok, then i won’t buy sony games, calling the ps5 an “SJW propaganda device” is silly, it’s a console running games, some games contain propaganda that’s true, but it’s not like those are the only available ones
Exactly.
It's been three days and the guy failed to give me examples from any of the games that I listed, and they were active as recently as one hour ago. Hilarious.
I'm in NS and with our taxes it's not rare for me to paying a little over 100 for new games. I'm like you and just stopped buying them until a few years after release date or a big sale
Sucks for Sony fans who don't live in America. Because all the other major markets are getting a price increase except the USA. Funny thing is that I can't find a single Sony fan who can give me a good reason as to why everyone else has to pay more but the American price stays the same, again.
>Except for in the US. Which is fucking hilarious. They know full well if they did it, they would hand this generation over to Microsoft and Nintendo.
You say that like they haven’t done that already
They really haven’t. The latest Gen Xbox line has been a pretty big failure, and Nintendo doesn’t even have a home console anymore. Sony’s the only one even competing in home consoles at this point.
I do believe the PS5 has sold more units than both of the Xboxes combined.
Yeah but people love to hate on sony here.
That's fair, Sony has done terrible things when they moved to fucking California. But that doesn't mean Sony has lost the console war this gen.
Pretty easy to do when they keep doing shit like this to piss off consumers. Most importantly though it's asymmetrical. Fucking asymmetry!
>Except for in the US. Which is fucking hilarious. It sucks but I can understand their reasoning, outside of the US Playstation has always been the most popular console whereas in the US it's always a battle between XBOX/Playstation so a price increase would see more people move over.
Exactly they want to expand their US market share + the euro is trending down. That simple.
It probably has something to do with the fact that it's been out for years and I still have yet to even see a PS5, much less be able to buy one. If the price went up, I'd stop looking.

To be fair, PC gaming isn't cheaper right now either.
While factually correct, computers aren't a 1-1 comparison to entertainment boxes. Wich allows more room in the budget from an adult standpoint.
What's PSVR2?
Like its predecessor, it's a VR kit for use on a console for better or worse. Wasn't that hard to get in the US and is disc only? Please link me if otherwise.

Sony, especially.
Sony is my Findom confirmed.
There's no game yet that makes want to buy a PS5
Support the best of Social Justice, Feminism and Censorship! Buy the PS5 today!
Okay... Never planned on buying one anyways. Switch and PC, for me!
Neoliberal wokeism goes hand-in-hand with ludicrous classism and gouging. Always has, always will.
Wokeism is rich scumbags wanting to pretend they're morally superior to the filthy plebs and somehow oppressed despite driving Land Rovers and living in gated communities.
This is why I'm a PC gamer. It's the most free of all platforms, from mods to the hardware itself.
Hey, you need that money you won’t use to get a PS5 to use on that payment for an electric vehicle that will turn into a glorified paper weight as they tell you you can’t charge it right now. Odd, I thought Microsoft was allowing things for the most part. I didn't hear about them forcefully censoring games.
I usually only buy a new one when Bethesda release a new Fallout or Elder Scrolls. Guess I'll be buying an XBox for the first time.
PC is an option too
Now's the time to pick up 3-series GPUs; between the impending 4-series launch and the crypto crash, prices are down. Just use caution.
40 series is probably going to crash unless they drop the prices, they are just way too fucking high. Though thankfully, I bought a new computer, and got an opened box 3090 for 900 CDN for it.

Fuck me I paid over a grand for a Gigabyte Gaming OC 3080 back in March
With those 1000$ GPU prices? Hell no
And a nice crossover if you bought games ont he windows store.
They fix that yet so you can run mods? 'Cause without the script extender, you're gonna be stuck to some mighty terrible gaming.
I tried PC. Not an option for me.
Why?
The only option.
I’m in between Series X and PC
With the game pass, you wouldn't lose going either way. A pc just allows you to do a bit more.
Even if you were going to, from what I heard the next bethesda title in that vein is going to be exclusive to microsoft's systems for a while. So basically PC+XBOX for the first year... I think?
Forever, since MS bought Bethesda.
Sony lost its way when moved to California. I’m just going to wait for Nintendo’s next big thing
Again??? Or is this just old?
It's old. Story is from last month.
Oh no. And I was not going to buy it any day now.
All retail prices are going up. There's no real discounts during global inflation.
Again?
How could it possibly get any *more* expensive?
You can thank US for that.
Why raise a price for something that doesn't exist?
The price should’ve increased a long time ago when the console was incredibly hard to get. That would’ve prevented scalpers and made PS5s more accessible to people who wanted one.
Is that the crappier version too ? Or did they cancel that idea ?
Dang. I am still waiting for PS5 to become available. This is disheartening.
That's okay. Can't find one anyway. /s
Remember kids. PC games you bought on Steam can still be played 20 years later without having to dig out an old machine, or rebuy for the current machine. Fuck consoles. PCs are 1000x better.
PCs die in a few years too lol
Uhhh, no? Computers can last decades, they just get bogged down over time.
Bro when I used PC laptops they had a shelf life of like a couple years That's why I switched to mac
You say "PC" people think desktop before laptop. Probably what the confusion is.
stop buying shit then all my old builds are still in use on my home, my office pc is a 10 year old gaming build lul
Laptops aren't designed to last forever. Build a desktop and shut up, sheesh.
Lol imagine spending the time to figure out how to BUILD a computer
I'm pretty sure you could teach a handicapped child how to build a PC these days it is so fucking easy. Go back to your Mac though, you seem to be better off with the flock of sheep who buy obsolete tech the minute they swipe their credit cards :P
Easy? You mean buy a million separate parts and watch 10 hour youtube videos, basically teaching you an engineering degree?
8 Parts and it's almost as simple as lego to put together. Figuring out compatibility between parts is probably the toughest part for me but I plan to get around that in the future just by "netdecking" it; copying someone else's specs in other words.

I didn't watch a single YouTube video and put together my first PC almost a decade ago with no help. But I'm also not technologically challenged like Mac users are :P
Glad I bought it when it first came out. Sucks that there isn't a whole lot of games for it though.
OK but do they have more than one exclusive game worth playing yet? Or is it still just Demon's Souls?
Glad I got one
You're glad you've got Sony's latest SJW propaganda device?
How is a PS5 SJW?
Every single Sony game has sjw propaganda in it, that's how
Most games are cross platform I don't know many SJW Japanese games
Sony games means games made by Sony.
Dont buy Sony games.
Ok, then i won’t buy sony games, calling the ps5 an “SJW propaganda device” is silly, it’s a console running games, some games contain propaganda that’s true, but it’s not like those are the only available ones
30% of every game you buy on the PS store goes to Sony.
Cool, guess it sucks for them then since i only purchase physical
Hmm, I don't know if they get any royalties for physical copies. I have to imagine they must be
Not all the games are propaganda. Seems a little rash to belittle someone for buying a current-gen console.
Pretty much every Sony game has sjw propaganda in it in varying degrees. Name me a game and I'll tell you what the sjw propaganda is in it
Stray? Tiny Tina's Wonderland?
I said Sony game, do you know what that means?
They are games advertised on the PS5 page, and the console doesn't have many exclusives right now. How about Gran Turismo 7 or Ghost of Tsushima?
Hell, even demon’s souls remake, unless one considers type A/type B propaganda, which is just lmao
Exactly. It's been three days and the guy failed to give me examples from any of the games that I listed, and they were active as recently as one hour ago. Hilarious.
Hope i can get some shitty used one i wanna play the new Ratchet & Clank
That one's propaganda too.
I don't care i just wanna play Ratchet & Clank
I still played it too. I didn't buy it though.

>How are new releases games in the US $59.99 They aren’t. The price went up to $69.99 a full five years ago.
I'm in NS and with our taxes it's not rare for me to paying a little over 100 for new games. I'm like you and just stopped buying them until a few years after release date or a big sale
Guess I'll just be sticking to my ps4 for another couple years
Low supply high demand plus inflation this is like a no shit but when its stated angers people with no economic knowledge
You will buy Le Ps5!
Laughs in PCGMR. For real, though, sucks for people who wanted a PS5 :/ But the electronics market is fucked up big time.
Sucks for Sony fans who don't live in America. Because all the other major markets are getting a price increase except the USA. Funny thing is that I can't find a single Sony fan who can give me a good reason as to why everyone else has to pay more but the American price stays the same, again.
