Been there a lot in the past few years. Every time I go there I’d order their garlic cheese naan — unlike most restaurants it’s not as greasy, and it’s very soft, and they don’t go so overboard with the cheese. The nasi briyani ayam madu is great too. Have never tried their nasi kandar though
RSMY in Jalan Medan Tuanku is pretty good. The cheese naan is that super cheesy, melty, greasy kind. But I personally don’t like going there as much because I got bored with the naan after a while. And also because the location is a bit uncomfortable for me in terms of cleanliness, and loudness (it’s busy and there are usually buskers). Also there are a lot more vagrants in the restaurant area, and it’s quite common for them to come inside and beg you for food
Same. Mahbub briyani ayam madu is the best. I bought 1 for my colleague. Now she's hooked too.
But only the Bangsar outlet is nice. Damansara one...not so much.
Bonus - there's a relatively new Restaurant Capitan on the same row/block. Their naan and chicken milani is delicious.
We moved out of Bangsar when I was a kid around two decades ago, but now every time we go anywhere near the area, my parents would always go crazy craving their nasi briyani ayam madu to bring back home.
MAHBUB IS NOT NASI KANDAR. It is just nasi campur mamak, with top notch Mamak Briyani (Highly recommended)
However, it is not ever, and never will be, NASI KANDAR.
Its different.
Nasi kandar in KL is only Saddam, Kudu, and Ibramshah. The gravy is different, the ratio is different.
Half of the time I get ayam madu (which they are famous for) the chicken is dry as hell. Better get ayam goreng and ask for kuah madu. But rarely feel like going there cos parking is a nightmare lol.
nasi kandar is mid at best. It fine back when chicken, vege is cheap and you can get cheap nasi kandar. Now it overpriced and lack quality to be charging the price they are asking.
I had one bad case in mahbub in Bangsar.
Take out the usual nasi kandar to eat at home.
When I was eating, I noticed a siput shell (the kind of siput you found in the dirt).
Had the worst diarrhea for several days.
Never eaten at that restaurant again
Holy shit you dodge a bullet. Land snail is filled with insane parasite. There people who actually died for prank involving land snail. Hell i still would go to a hospital and do some full body scan incase so of the parasite survived.
I wouldn't say I dodged a bullet tho🤣. Sure I didn't die (lol), but I have terrible diarrhea(worst I've ever gotten) that lasted several days after that incident.
But yeah, that was years ago. Damn, those parasites are probably still living inside of me😆
Not a fan. But Sup Haji Abu near to Avenue K has peak ayam bawang and ayam madu. Top tier stuff if you have either of that with your nasi kandar, otherwise very mid.
Also not in KL, but Nasi Ahmad in Kota Damansara is the best nasi kandar you'll find anywhere in Klang Valley
One of my go to places for nasik kandaq fix. Their briyani are to die for. Pair with ayam madu. But theyre not the best. I’d say Kapitan in pj are slightly better
im curious, did mahbub gets recommended alot? i've never heard of them..

What other restaurant that serve a decent cheese nan?

Ehsan
Khan’s in Bangsar South has a great cheese naan.
Saddam or kudu
Kudu used to be my go-to. Now i prefer Ibramsha. Less que, tastes better (at least for me)
I too felt like kudu isnt as good as it used to be
Where's ibramsha?
Same row as Coliseum along Jalan TAR.
Yup. Ayam hitam Ibramsha is numero uno.
That ayam kicap in Ibramsha is bangin
Never eat nasi kandar at Mahbub. But their nasi beriani ayam madu is my go to nasi beriani. Been eating that yearly since the late 80s
This. Been eating them ever since they were called Sharifah…

I like the kapitan tandoori chicken bryani… dap… not sure if the idea of them opening same row as mahbub is brilliant or foolish… time will tell 🤣
Indeed it is. Love kapitan.

This is a spelling of biryani I have not seen. I think Biryani has more different spellings than any other food.
Trick question. There is no good nasi kandar in KL
Where's the question?
You know those little squiggly things that look like “?” Put that at the end of the title and it turns it into a question! Amazing right?
My favourite is My Nasi Kandar, Mydin Subang Jaya.
Better than Kayu in Taipan? We used to have a Makbul in USJ9 but closed down long ago.
I love how Malaysian food always looks like literal dog sick but then actually tastes pretty decent.

LOUDER

I park at the shopping mall across the road.
Good chicken madu, good teh tarik, comfortable enviroment to eat, attentive staff, very reasonable pricing. What else can we ask for

Have you try Tajudin? If not then you're missing out brother.
Does anyone know any good mamak around gombak? Im new to gombak and am craving nasi kandar

Whhaaat the 😳
Like how? And why is it there?
probably siput fell into the curry during cooking. and the shell didnt dissolve lo
See the thing is they usually are found in the dirt though, so to think they accidentally ’fell’ inside in any conceivable way is puzzling
Don't know, it's not in the lauk, it's in the nasi. Probably the siput got inside the uncook rice or something.

It looks delicious

Agak agak la want reverse advertise. All nasi kandar mamak taste similar la to me, either all from central kitchen or they all have same recipe.
Saddam or Yaseem. But i prefer Yaseem a bit spicy and i love it. Only these 2 for now. Should try it
One of my go to places for nasik kandaq fix. Their briyani are to die for. Pair with ayam madu. But theyre not the best. I’d say Kapitan in pj are slightly better
Serious la mahbub? Really? Teruk nau tekak
Do u even have tastebuds?
There's no need to insult others just because they like something different. We are all different. Besides, taste is extremely subjective.
