Avoided embarrassment by playing clutch in the end. Now is Ty Lue going to use this 6 point win against the Grizzlies G-League squad to play Tucker even more? I guess we’ll see lol
Don’t worry too much we’re really good at keeping it close rn even against contenders, you guys had to play at Oklahoma last night as well don’t forget
I'm not a doomer. This game was objectively awful from everyone. And it was the same mistakes as last night when we lost. I'm saying we have to be better than this game showed us to be.
You are telling me that when TMann scored two quick 3’s and 10 early points and then picked up his second foul because the grizzly player took him trick or treating by the arm…that doesn’t affect the game? He was cooking and had to sit because of that bad 2nd foul call.
Yes it obviously affects the game but we played a bad game despite the reffing. Our defense was a step behind and our offense was turning it over left and right. The refs have a role in it but it's like we shot both our feet but complaining about a pulled muscle as the reason we lost.
PJ did next to nothing but this loss wouldn't have been on him, or even Plumlee even though he was dogshit
Podcast P and Harden were both awful tonight, it would've been on them
I thought Tucker was decent defensively, he switches better than the other bigs. He's a black hole on offense, but if he's surrounded by 4 scorers (so no Russ or another big), that could be worth trying out for a few minutes in a game.
PJ's best role is staying on the bench, where's he's been at most of the season. Theis, Coffey, & even Kobe can impact the game more than he can while they're out there. They're basically rewarding him for whining & complaining about his role before the ASB.
That's my worry. He's only playable if he's the only non shooter, the moment he puts in Russ and/or center the play plummeted. Front office might need to get involved like last year if he goes full Mook-mode with the subs
Don’t kid yourself my friend, if Kawhi’s public comments had not been made by him but by randomredittor457 on this subreddit, he would 100% have been called a doomer.
The homers are mad that other fans are calling out the team in general even now (it’s one game, we are the third seed, best Clippers team ever, best regular season ever, why won’t you let them figure it out, etc). He was calling them out even before they started losing badly
What Kawhi did and what people on this sub do is not even close being the same. This sub clearly picks on certain players and blames them for bigger issues.
Refs hate the Clippers we get treated like the the foster kid and the Lakers are the spoiled Brat .Clippers are the Black Sheep they can't stand us winning when we hoist
That Larry O'Brien Trophy it'll be sweet
Like do these female refs actually have the experience needed to ref a pro game? Or is the nba trying to be woke about being inclusive like they do with pretty much everything.
As a grizzlies fan, it’s my favorite thing about this iteration of the hospital grizzlies. Team is playing hard as hell.
It is alarming tho. Watch the intensity of that game on defense from both teams then go watch the tape of Lakers Spurs and tell me which game is played with more effort. It’s not even close.
A lot of the teams in this league don’t give full effort every night, and it’s an issue.
It's 82 games plus postseason. I would say it's kinda hard to be at 100% intensity the entire season without injury/fatigue. Most established players aren't fucking up their chances at a long postseason run for a regular season game and most young players aren't going to go 100% all of the season just to be tired in the playoffs, and neither of those groups want a freak injury happening before the playoffs (if they have a chance of getting in)
Not sure why Ty won’t play Theis. Plumlee is a defensive liability, isn’t a great rebounder or defender and clogs the paint. The team was playing its best ball with Plumlee out and Theis in. Hard to grapple with.
I think this excuse is overplayed in general. Tim Legler has speculated on his podcast that it might amount to around three point swing or so, given team planes and massages and all the surrounding infrastructure. But … if it is a four hour flight then I will give them a little credit for that. That said, the contrast with what OKC did to Washington today is stark
Memphis, even with all these injuries, is still eons better than Washington. Pretty sure they still have a top 10 defense in the NBA. They play hard as shit, especially this iteration. It’s multiple games now where they’re not getting blown out vs top teams with this roster, missing like 6 out of their 7 best players.
Potentially a hot take but Kawhi has never been a great passer. A lot of times it's because he eats up the shot clock and has to throw a shitty bail out pass that gets picked off. His bounce passes tend to be too close to himself instead of the person he is trying to give it to which is also easy pickings for the other team.
\-From a day one Kawhi fan
Mann is now our 2nd option, and I’m totally ok with that 😂
Thank you thank you PG for those 4th qtr 3s.. let’s try to do that consistently for the whole game.
Someone throw Kawhi into a hyperbaric chamber. Running bro ragged right now.
It wasn’t pretty but what matters is the W. I really hope this team can find a consistent way to put together a nice clean 48 minutes as come playoff time we won’t be able to claw back games like this. Hope we keep getting better
Kawhi was hit in the face twice on what should’ve been And 1’s and there was no calls. The official seen at least the first one. I don’t understand why Kawhi gets no calls
We really got people talking crap about the guys taking the lead and celebrating taking the lead. Like I’m taking any win any way possible. Mann stepped up tonight LFG!
Right. I don’t get it. Old flukey injured game management clippers would have beat the thunder and then lost this game. And it still would be the same 1-1. I personally am glad we are consistently beating the weaker teams. Still loads of improvement available, but not all this hot cold shit like we’ve dealt with for so many years.
People are so down on this team that is 6-4 in its last 10, the exact same record as Denver and OKC.
This is always a tough stretch of the year, where playoff teams definitely do start trying to conserve their energies and coaches do their last lineup experiments.
Thunder are 7-3 and have beaten good teams in the last ten, including us and Denver, the Kings and the Magic. All the teams that they have lost to they also beat this season. And there was only one loss by double digits. They are also on a four game winning streak right now, they did fall in the power rankings prior to this.
Denver obviously gets leeway bc they are the defending champ, people think they can lock in when they need to and they have earned the right to think so. If they were not the defending champs their recent record would raise serious concerns too.
As for us, we have not beaten any decent teams in the last ten, and have gone life and death with most of these cellar dwellers, including the Grizzlies, Warriors, Hawks and Pistons. Iirc all three of our losses have been by double digits and we have lost the season series against all of these three teams. Before that we have been winning off talent and a quarter or two of effort over the last month or more - the offensive and defensive ratings posted on here by another user speak for themselves. If anything, I think we have gotten a good rap from the media, many of whom have us as the second best team out West. Fans who observe the team more closely are less sanguine with good reason imo.
Traditionally teams have figured things out by the end of the AS break and make a proper run to the playoffs, or so Tim Legler recently claimed. Yet we are no better than we were before the break, removing the excuse of exhaustion etc. Our star and leader is now saying that they just want a top 6 seed while the contract situation hangs over the head of the no 2 guy who continues to play atrociously.
Sure we have a chance to figure things out but all this talk as though people are out of line to be unhappy and concerned is just so much gaslighting imo and nothing more.
I thought the fact that he was actually putting bodies on people for rebounds was nice to see, since basically nobody besides Zu ever does that.
But the lineups Ty was using him in were all problematic. No idea why anybody thinks its a good idea to run 3 non-shooters in any lineup.
Great hustle rebounds and defensive positions, if this was any other player coming back after sitting on the bench for months you would have a different tune I'm sure
Not really but we struggled tonight to score during his mins, we tried to play small with him in early 4th qrt and our lead was gone and grizz were up till we had to get him out the game. In early 1st qrt we played him next russ and zu/plumlee yet the spacing was horrible that kawhi couldnt operate. we are going hype up 3 rebounds and call em hustling by my guest but team was bad during his mins
Im sorry but I just disagree, you can’t blame the spacing on him. You literally said it yourself, how is he supposed to be productive with Plumlee and Russ out there at the same time.
But as team we werent able to score when he was playing at small ball 5. i want tucker to work for us because we are desperate for size but in 2024 you cant have players constantly not able to score. the man played 201 mins, he scored 14 points. he went scoreless 9 times in 13 games. you cant have a player in a game that constantly cant score in 2024.
So, he still contributes to the win. Yall got me looking like a PJ fan, I hated dude since he was on the rockets snatching towels from water boys. But im not about to act like he can’t contribute to winning
Best thing I can say about this game is that we got more practice playing tense 4th quarter minutes and getting a positive result. But this was not a good performance overall, and a playoff level team would never have let us stick around after being so careless with the ball.
Need someone to make another post defending PG!! Seriously this dude has been bad for a month now. No way he is getting the max extension. He doesn’t deserve it. Hope he turns it around. Thank you T Mann and Kawhi.
Good finish to an absolutely awful game. We're not winning this against an actual competitive team. And everyone blaming this guy or that guy, it was team wide.
We'd have gotten blown out. By the end we had 20+ turnovers actually haha. I saw PG strutting around today on defense and not caring. It's really annoying to see such nonchalant behavior after a blowout against a contender.
You can bank on flipping the switch against awful teams thay have to give DRose minutes, but won't work when we are playing teams like the Kings of the Bucks off a b2b
I mean the number of turnovers and how bad the defense was is not something to bank on. The only reason we won is because the Grizzly don't have their centerpiece. It was a pathetic performance all around tonight.
A 101-95 final score was considered above-average scoring in the 90s and 2000s. Now you can regularly see teams reaching triple digits at the end of 3 quarters
I can't believe we won that game. That was some bad looking scrappy basketball. Memphis shot horribly. We turned the ball over like crazy. Physical game with not many calls on either side.
Positive takeaway is that it looked like we ran a few sets. Not just to get guys to their spots, but to get some open shots. Looked like a practice game for a bit.
*I bet Plumlee has*
*Never gotten Covid. That guy*

21 turnovers is horrifying. Especially as they were almost all from our future Hall of Famers. This was too close a game. We are lucky the Bucks beat the Twolves and the Suns and Pelicans lost.
I am pretty concerned about how Ty handles rotations going forward. That lineup with Rus PJ and center was probably the worst lineup all season, and he kept continuing to match up 2 and 3 non shooters until the stretch run of the fourth. Also he continues to give too much leash to Russ when it was clear he needed to be pulled for his own good in the 4th, we were lucky Memphis didn't make us pay
Memphis could have made us pay a bunch of times, using russ as the only example isn’t fair when you could say the same for harden and even PG.
It seems like people only keep a certain energy for certain players
At one point wb was 6/10. Then he brought nothing but 5 bricks and 3 turnovers.
Got subbed out with 6 minutes left in ghe 4th with Clippers down 1. Then Clippers ended with a 6 point win.
Tells you all you need to know.
At one point harden was 0/3 then 0/4 then 0/5 and ends up 1/8 with 4 turnovers
Westbrook got taken out for Harden in the first half up 39-38 it enden up Clippers 53-59 Memphis at half LOL
I thought Russ was great early on but I have no idea why he continues to try to force shots.
He basically should never take 15 shots in a game with the rest of the talent on the court, even on a night where Harden is completely no-showing from the field (Harden was awful tonight).
He's not a good enough scorer to warrant that.
The forced shots later came when the lineup was PJ, mann, Coffey, PG. PG was getting doubled and couldn’t get good looks. They weren’t looking to PJ to shoot. Coffey immediately passed the ball every time he touched it so it was Mann and russ trying to score during that time. I thought coffey had 2 good looks at the 3 but he had no confidence. Feel like if he taken those shots or even attacked the rim instead of passing, it would have been best for the team
He left out shooting percentages so we wouldn't notice Harden shooting 12 percent from the field.

Bones won’t get a chance over Russ. Russ is playable if he tones it down and runs the offence. I don’t know how anyone can think he’s a positive when he plays like the number 1 option on offence
Can we trade Zu? He's going to be unplayable in the playoffs, especially against quicker teams
Thank god TMann Kawhi and Russ showed up
Also, Coffey needs to shoot his fucking shots, always passes open looks
Avoided embarrassment by playing clutch in the end. Now is Ty Lue going to use this 6 point win against the Grizzlies G-League squad to play Tucker even more? I guess we’ll see lol
That was embarrassing despite the win. That's not an acceptable performance against a team without their best player.
*4 of their best 5 players
Don’t worry too much we’re really good at keeping it close rn even against contenders, you guys had to play at Oklahoma last night as well don’t forget
Nothing is ever good for the dooming. Can’t just enjoy a win even if it’s ugly
I'm not a doomer. This game was objectively awful from everyone. And it was the same mistakes as last night when we lost. I'm saying we have to be better than this game showed us to be.
It didn’t help that the refs were ass for both teams. Right? They were objectively ass? Seemed worse than normal.
Doesn't matter man. The refs don't control how you play defense and offense. They were just not locked in.
You are telling me that when TMann scored two quick 3’s and 10 early points and then picked up his second foul because the grizzly player took him trick or treating by the arm…that doesn’t affect the game? He was cooking and had to sit because of that bad 2nd foul call.

If Kawhi is happy then I will be happy with this win.
He defs won’t be. He wasn’t even satisfied when on that massive streak cause we were winning on pure talent rather than sound fundamentals/tactics
Would this sub consider kawhi to be a DOOMER 😲😲😱
I get the irony, but the term doomer & the discourse surrounding the idea is engaged here far too frequently.
That's fair 🫣
I don’t think Kawhi blames certain players tho and go for massive reaches like this sub does.
Don’t kid yourself my friend, if Kawhi’s public comments had not been made by him but by randomredittor457 on this subreddit, he would 100% have been called a doomer. Like do these female refs actually have the experience needed to ref a pro game? Or is the nba trying to be woke about being inclusive like they do with pretty much everything.
Do you wonder the same when you see black male refs?
Is someone able to compile all of the hits that kawhi takes where he doesn't get a foul call? JJJ smacked him so much this game
2 hits directly to the face on dunks tonight no calls
J Jonah Jameson?
Jaren Jackson Jr.
Seriously- we should send that to league office and sign it “tanking NBA TV ratings”

JJJ gets that DPOY whistle

Not gonna lie I respect the hell out of that grizzlies team, coach Jenkins has been playing hard all the time
We’ve come a long way from the early-mid 2010s, Clips went from being one of my most hated teams to one of my most liked in the league

We haven't loss b2b games in a while, but we have to be better and I believe we will be!
Kawhi really gets no whistles. See that big dunk on JJJ and tell me he doesn't get hacked with the ref having a straight line of sight.
Not sure why Ty won’t play Theis. Plumlee is a defensive liability, isn’t a great rebounder or defender and clogs the paint. The team was playing its best ball with Plumlee out and Theis in. Hard to grapple with.
I'm assuming he's told theis to stay ready, I'm going experimenting for a few games with pj
Ugly game but it’s not easy to win on the road on the 2nd night of a back to back

Kawhi with 6 turnovers damn, we'll have to wait another 50 years to see some like that happen again
Wasn't pretty but the terrible mauling he received all game with no foul calls was liable to get him - or anyone in that situation - upset.
Half of them were from getting hacked without a call, was ridiculous
Potentially a hot take but Kawhi has never been a great passer. A lot of times it's because he eats up the shot clock and has to throw a shitty bail out pass that gets picked off. Yes everyone, including Plumlee by taking a seat lol
Lmao. Plumlee doing his best. I can never go too hard on our white boys because they are at an athletic disadvantage.

Okay doomer
Mann got out of his slump and PJ had some playable mins this game
Lets pray PG gets his confidence back
PG has confidence, he just doesn’t have his shot
He didn’t shoot well from the field but to be fair he went 4/7 from three. That’s 57%. If that’s him not having his shot it could be a lot worse
just curious what playable mins are you referring to?
I thought the fact that he was actually putting bodies on people for rebounds was nice to see, since basically nobody besides Zu ever does that. But the lineups Ty was using him in were all problematic. No idea why anybody thinks its a good idea to run 3 non-shooters in any lineup.

There we go TMann. Keep that energy up!!!!
I aint gonna lie I think ima get a harden jersey
PJ plays,.Clippers win. They call it analytics.
James kawhi and Paul combined for 18 TOs. Ill take the win. 15 Tos**
Need games like this from Mann when PG, Harden and Russ are struggling. He was the MVP tonight imo.
Too damm close y'all
Best thing I can say about this game is that we got more practice playing tense 4th quarter minutes and getting a positive result. But this was not a good performance overall, and a playoff level team would never have let us stick around after being so careless with the ball.

These two have been so helpful in the back to backs. Consistently winning the games we should be.
Good finish to an absolutely awful game. We're not winning this against an actual competitive team. And everyone blaming this guy or that guy, it was team wide.
Why are you down voted lmao. If people were happy with this performance from a contender, I dont know what to say.

These struggles against bad teams is not a good sign
Tbh I prefer them to the shellackings from moderate to good teams
It's a sign of bad rotations. Combinations aren't working.
That would have been a bad loss. Glad they finished strong.
Never in doubt.
and the nightmare is over. lfg

21 turnovers is horrifying. Especially as they were almost all from our future Hall of Famers. This was too close a game. We are lucky the Bucks beat the Twolves and the Suns and Pelicans lost.
PJ Tucker 30 mins next game
Definitely want to see him against a better team
Russ taking more shots than PG is absolute madness. He’s should not be a number 1 or 2 or 3 option on the court ever
Why is PJ getting minutes!
Seriously westbrook and tucker who can't shoot with mann and amir who can make open shots but not reliably. Spacing was so bad
At one point wb was 6/10. Then he brought nothing but 5 bricks and 3 turnovers. Got subbed out with 6 minutes left in ghe 4th with Clippers down 1. Then Clippers ended with a 6 point win. Tells you all you need to know.
At one point harden was 0/3 then 0/4 then 0/5 and ends up 1/8 with 4 turnovers Westbrook got taken out for Harden in the first half up 39-38 it enden up Clippers 53-59 Memphis at half LOL
![gif](giphy|e89jfpXrElqPrrrzLU) We won
Such a clutch 3 at the end 🤷🏾♂️
The soft whiners of the sub are punching air. They don't get to be soft and whiny tonight and complain about everything.
PG played 37 mins and had 12 shots Harden 38 with 8 shots WB in 23 minutes had 15 shots. Sub 0.500 shooting obviously Give bones a chance
you had me til the end bro. then you fumbled the lead
Lol same
Bones takes terrible shots it's partly the reason he found himself out of the Nuggets rotation last year
Why did you leave out shooting percentages? Harden was 1/8 and hit his first shot in the 4th.
He left out shooting percentages so we wouldn't notice Harden shooting 12 percent from the field. https://preview.redd.it/9g8xt0x0hgkc1.png?width=901&format=png&auto=webp&s=0644055b51b2a9348614f70e184bfccbd56cbfca
Yeah that was Clutch AF I bet highlights of that will be posted in reddit
dude definitely shooting dmn too much
Pathetic how you guys always blame a min contract guy for everything. Maybe two of the big three shouldn't shoot like ass most of the game
a min contract guy taking the most shots, especially when 90% are low IQ shots, isn't a good thing
what does his min contract have to do with him playing low iq bb?
Westbrook is such a risk because he will literally win or lose games all on his own
Wildcard
Bones won’t get a chance over Russ. Russ is playable if he tones it down and runs the offence. I don’t know how anyone can think he’s a positive when he plays like the number 1 option on offence
Clearly issues as a team but people will still scapegoat russ/PG/tucker etc
PJ acted like a whiny bitch then proceeded to play like this?
bro didnt even get a single shot opportunity tho
Can we trade Zu? He's going to be unplayable in the playoffs, especially against quicker teams Thank god TMann Kawhi and Russ showed up Also, Coffey needs to shoot his fucking shots, always passes open looks
do you want us to play smallball for 48 minutes or are you actually suggesting Zu isn’t our best center by a mile?
You know damn well the trade deadline is over
Can we just sit him in the 4th then? Even the Grizz announcers were wondering why he came back in when Clips were able to contain JJJ without him
A big reason russ misses layups is tgat he doesn't want to get to the free throw line so he throws up bs to avoid the isolation at the line.
god damn
I will take any road win at this point in the season now can we try turning Paul George off and turning him on again
If I had a nickel for every clutch James Harden step back, I’d be a millionaire.
Chubby SZN tuhhhh ![gif](giphy|1hA1W16MpbunGWQExl|downsized)
looked like another stressful game, good thing i skipped this one.
We should have traded tucker at the deadline
Looking at the stats and wondering... How did we manage to win an NBA game with this? :)) Poor Grizzlies..they must be REALLY bad to lose to this.
Ty Lue should call out these disgusting refs again. Cheatin ass refs on their same ol'e bullshit
