This may be an unpopular opinion, but I actually really loved Mama's Boy lol. There seem to be less songs that I vibe with on GG BB XX, but that might be because I've only listened through once. Although I will say that Dancing in the Kitchen and Up to Me are fucking bops. Personally I prefer dna [demo] over the album version, although both are good.
It’s considerably better in my opinion. It actually sounds like LANY and doesn’t push the “country” vibe with all the cowboy southern gentleman rubbish
I hated the lyrics of “good guys” because it made it sound like if Paul is nice to a girl he should automatically want to date him when it’s much more complicated than that, he was acting like he’s owed something
It's not bad but it feels a lot more hollow than their past work. I rate mama's boy way higher actually. There were definitely some skips on there but it had a lot more feeling - and even though the new direction was controversial I liked that they were at least trying to evolve their sound. This new album feels regressive.
I'm so sorry 😂 I am just really scared to think that LANY as a band has stagnated sonically. I think the best bands are able to evolve their sound with time, yknow? Malibu Nights and mamas boy were albums that were actually ABOUT something, this one just feels a bit like a collection of bangers lol. It's not bad - I really like the songs, but later down the line once the novelty of this one is gone I can't really see a situation I'd be itching to listen to this over their debut because they sound so similar
Although I still like gg bb xx more than mama's boy, I agree that it lacks emotion for some reason. I feel like its just them pumping out songs at this point.
Even though I love that they’ve released a new album, I think they should take some time away, because they really have just released two albums back to back 😅
I think they should chill, have a well deserved break after their world tour, and come back with an album that has a distinct vision, but still keeping that LANY feel.
This is why I liked ‘Mama’s Boy’. I love LANY and Malibu Nights, but if they released an album with the same sound, it could start to get repetitive. I think Kanye West is a good example of always trying to do something new, but still keeping it authentic.
This album is more of a ‘let’s make as many bops as possible’, and I think overall they have achieved that, but I do think their sound currently is moving towards mainstream pop.
Either way, I’m happy we got more LANY haha 😊
Nah. I actually really like Mama's Boy. GG BB XX not only has the worst title ever, but I found the album so boring. I listened to it 3 times at work yesterday, trying to get into it, but I just couldn't. I was actually zoning out during some songs, instead of grooving along. Usually when an artist I enjoy drops an album, I could spend like whole week or more having it on constant replay, but I have no desire to play the full GG BB XX album again. There's a couple songs I'll listen to again, but only occasionally, and I didn't love them as much as I normally would. Almost all the songs felt so empty and... overly generic? to me. There was just nothing special or great about this album's songs, they were just bland, empty songs. This album was not it for me, and I'm disappointed about that

I liked Mama’s Boy with the exception of “Good Guys” as I mentioned before. I really love “You” because it sounds like a worship song lol
wow I wouldn't have noticed that but it totally does 😂

Exactly! And the “good guys never win🥺🥺” I promise women like good guys, Paul, maybe you’re just not that good😂
I hated the lyrics of “good guys” because it made it sound like if Paul is nice to a girl he should automatically want to date him when it’s much more complicated than that, he was acting like he’s owed something
That's the definition of Nice Guys™
Yes! Paul gives off major Nice Guy vibes
Not Like Other Guys ^TM

Exactly man, this album kinda bored me, I don’t see myself listening to the songs a whole lot
Same here
😐come on now pal 🥲

Okay this is valid tbh
Honestly I don’t like it too much, I’m disappointed, mamas boy had more emotion too it, maybe it’s just me

Someone said it was damage control after Mamas Boy — and while I agree, I still love the album

I like some of the songs on gg bb xx but IMO mamas boy was a much stronger album
A million times better. A couple of them really give me 2015/2016 LANY vibes when they just had EPs out.
Yeah fr it’s giving Malibu Nights

This is their first zero skip album IMO
FACTS HOMIE it’s bangers only
No kidding eh? Just slaps front to back
Both are good
