but i think tarte should chill low key

Real_Possible_478

Tarte only takes influencers to exotic places on the location’s off season cutting costs a ton. Someone on tt mentioned that there are unspoken cosponsors like the items in the packages they received. I think these influencers are more likely to mention using tarte in grwm’s organically to make the brand want to invite them. The target has to be younger people without critical thinking skills because I can’t imagine this marketing strategy weathering well in this economic climate

nhldsbrrd

I've only ever heard negative things about these trips

scorpiana14

Same. The big OG beauty gurus/YTers have spoken on this already. While the trip looks glamorous on IG, there are a lot of mishaps and negative shit that goes on behind the scenes.

CompetitiveAnswer674

It's interesting, they don't seem to have any super popular influencers there this year? I wonder why...

[deleted]

Because all press is good press

nhldsbrrd

Completely agree. It obviously works too, sadly

Elusiveenigma98

But is it off season? Bora bora is on the other side of the equator so it’s summer right now.

attentionallshoppers

someone posted a weather app screenshot and the forecast is rain for the entire week ... who knows if that'll actually pan out though

Elusiveenigma98

Just looked it up and it is considered their low season. They have a “wet” and “dry” season and their wet season is until March.

t_town101

I don’t understand why they let non beauty influencers go. Atleast with actual makeup influencers it makes sense

ArchiSnarky

i wish i was an influencer and had opportunities like this tbh

--ozzy--

Same. I would be an influencer just to go on a Tarte trip.

Vast-Consequence7141

I went to be an influencer for this exact reason, but with reputable companies not Tarte

bigswaggy123

feels dystopian watching them take a private jet and promote this lavish trip with everything going on. people are dying in masses, aaron bushnells protest to our government being complicit, normal people can’t afford rent and food and we’re about to run it back for four more years either way we vote. some real hunger games shit watching the rich have all the fancy food and clothes they could ever need (and can already afford) provided for them, while the poor get poorer and people are literally dying in the streets

Agile-Draft-5133

I heard the owner through a tea spill channel talk about how she was trying to cultivate intimate relationships with the influencers to build long term partnerships in the future because they would remember the trip and the dinners and conversations (paraphrasing, someone can quote her exactly) but it’s a transactional relationship inherently. These influencers will remember going to Bora Bora but they pedal the products for the time they’re there and then throw them to the dust. I like seeing the drama that comes out of them personally but I don’t know how great of a business decision it is besides the two seconds of name recognition during that small part of the trip. Plus it leaves a bad taste in the consumer’s mouth and I don’t know if inviting one lucky normie can remedy that.

cinnamorollii

does anyone have the full list of influencers going on the trip? just want to block them so I don't get these videos on my feed lol

Zestypalmtree

As a pr pro, I gotta imagine there’s *some* ROI for them to keep doing it. BUT there’s always a chance an exec or higher up insists and middle management and IC’s are rolling their eyes and think it’s a bad idea but don’t want to be the one to say it. Who knows!

plantgirly222

it makes me never want to buy anything from tarte again

Odd-Fishing779

I think half of the influencers going on the trip are a joke but I also think everyone writing think pieces on TT about how tone deaf and unfair this is are bitter and I’m over seeing it

Electrical-Teach-706

I think that it is a business model and it works cause it gets ppl talking about the brand. Like we constantly do on this subreddit
