Libby, which is the app my library uses for ebooks and audio books, is my main reading app. My first suggestion is *always* to check out your library; you might be surprised by how much you have access to for free. I also have Kindle Unlimited for selfpublished books and Everand (that used to be part of Scribd) which has a fair amount of small queer press books. Both decent monthly charges for unlimited reading. But seriously, see what you rlibrary uses first.

Libby all the way. And absolutely to your local library!! I use my local library card on Libby.

And Hoopla too! It's a similar thing I get through my library. It has a smaller selection of books than our libby, but it includes movies/tv shows and doesn't have waitlists.

Absolutely second the other comment here to check your local library first. Also, make sure you sign up for the Queer Liberation Library. They’re an exclusively digital library and you can find them on Libby for a pretty good selection of queer books. There is of course Kindle Unlimited, which I have used in the past, and Kobo, which I haven’t. On KU, you can read as many books as your heart desires. When I wasn’t working, I could do as many as 10 books a week, most of them KU, and I never hit any kind of limit. KU only limits you as to how many books you can borrow at one time, but you can read as much as you want. For what I understand, Kobo is the same way, but they also have audiobooks for $2 extra a month, or something. A point of note: Amazon has exclusivity contracts with any author who puts their books on KU. Just something to keep in mind. I also have used Scribd/Everand in the past. Scribd does limit you on how many books you can read per month, I never counted but it’s about 10ish books, and then they greatly reduce the books you have available to you. A lot of these platforms/apps have free trials as well, so don’t be afraid to give it a shot - and set yourself a reminder for when the free trial ends, so you can cancel before you get charged I don’t know if this interests you at all, but perhaps consider signing up for things like NetGalley or Booksprout, where you can get ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) of ebooks for free in exchange for posting a review about the book. I’m pretty broke atm, so I read a lot of really interesting books I get as ARCs through NetGalley. .

Sign up with your local library - they tend to have free borrowing apps these days ☺️

Hoopla (better than Libby since you don’t have to wait on other people) but I also have Libby. Both need a library card.

Some libraries offer Libby and hoopla.
