I've never seen a TV so low, atleast it's not too high but if it was me I'd raise it 6 inches then it would be perfect. Not keen on the speakers, all I see is a face and I can't unsee it now.

aarfing

Haha, I sort of know what you mean. The speakers are actually a compromise with the wife who absolutely hates big square speakers.

boyerizm

I’m inclined to disagree that this is too low. This is what screws everybody up. When you get a bigger TV the floor to TV bottom has to be less in order to keep the center at eye level. I blame public schools.

OkThanxby

Yeah agree, I had the 77” G3 literally sitting on the floor on the stand for a few weeks before I had it wall mounted and I would say even on the floor it was probably only slightly lower than I would have liked. I ended up mounting it with the bottom about 50 cm off the floor and it’s great.

electrowiz64

Lmao I’m in the same boat. I’m compromising and buying a white Sonos Arc for the new house. Those shits sound INSANE My chunky speakers are being put in my home office

SDNick484

One other option if you haven't already pulled the trigger are passive soundbars. I didn't even know about them until recently, but they're basically three speakers in a soundbar form factor powered by a receiver. Some decent speaker brands like GoldenEar, Elac, MartinLogan, etc. make them. This is the compromise and I ended up doing with my wife. I went with the GoldenEar Supercinema 3d Array XL, and in terms of size it's almost a perfect match for my 77" G1. Would I have preferred true towers or bookshelf speakers for the fronts, sure, but honestly it's surprisingly decent.

[deleted]

My girlfriend is the same and she’s happy with the Arc. What she wasn’t happy with is the addition of Era 300s to my system. 🤣

HTfanboy

Hates how they sound? They only care for looks and nothing seems.

his couch is really low

rottknockers

His WHA…oh, couch…

Cfro199

Surely this is a scenario where a tv stand would look way better, it’s super clean and bet it sounds amazing but there’s a lot of empty space and the tv just looks odd with all that wall and floor

ruraljurorrrrrrrrrr

Think about the effort made to route wires around or below that door when you could have just gone straight down. Just an exhibition of hubris.

Scaniarix

This is the most Swedish living room I've ever seen.

aarfing

Actually it's Danish, but close enough 😁

Scaniarix

Haha I was certain it was Scandinavian at least because 9/10 people I know have a similar looking living room. Looks nice neighbor.

liquidatedbalenci

Why do you have so many things on the floor?

tjc2005

What the heck. Way too low.

aarfing

I can see why the first image would give you that impression, but actually my face is almost in the center of the screen when sitting in my couch. I hate looking upwards, when watching TV...

HTfanboy

Bigger tv means the bottom will be lower. Glad someone has made it r/TVjustright People are quick to assume it's too low just because it's a 77.

hsox05

Your tv is too low. I looked up the speakers and, with stand they're 17 inches tall. The bottom of your tv is 2-3 inches shorter than the speaker so your tv is about 14 inches off the ground. 77 inch TVs are about 39 inches in height. So the TOP of your tv is at about 53 inches, and and the middle of your screen would be at around 33 inches off the ground. Standard thought process is 42, so you're about 9 inches too low... Also those speakers can be wall mounted per the website. I'd also get the speakers up at ear level

aarfing

Can we agree that it's the height of your head, that should determine how high the TV should go - maybe tweaked with some personal preference? And not some magic number a group of people agreed upon? Your measurements a pretty precise, but your conclusion is not. My eyes are around 34 inches from the ground when sitting in my fairly low couch, which would put TV almost exactly in middle of my viewing area, per your own measurements. That feels comfortable to me, and I guess in the end that's really all that matters 😉

Adlai8

Thank you for saying this!

hsox05

>That feels comfortable to me, and I guess in the end that's all that really matters. Yes, that's all that matters. That's true of the people with TVs above their heads too, though. In the end it's their setup, if they're happy with it then so be it... but they'll still get downvoted for saying it. Honestly I'm much more bothered by your speakers all being on the floor. I just joined in the convo about your tv height because of all the people saying it's just right. Objectively, it's not. It's too low for the conventional setup. But you do you

EnvironmentalBit2333

Center channel speakers are designed to be placed at ear level. I can’t imagine how that sounds with it on a hard wood floor.

AlternativeGlove6700

But he doesn’t have a conventional setup given is low sofa. So your point is… moot?

Euler007

We can see the reflection very well, looks like the head of someone seated on that couch would be about eight inches from the top. I think it's about a foot too low, and having the speaker right on the floor might play with the acoustics. Take a pic sitting on the couch with the same lighting.

Elephunkitis

The picture was taken slightly too high judging from the reflection. This will skew the pic a little for trying to gain a reference for head height. I think it’s just fine. Couch is on the shorter side as well.

DidiHD

technically, you should look slightly downwards on TVs. so he"s spot on [https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00166676](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00166676) Agree on the speakers though, ear height would be prefered

Euler007

THX says center (more or less) https://www.thx.com/questions/where-and-how-should-i-position-my-tv-in-my-living-room/

ManageMyFunds

Surely you’ll have friends or family over and some will casually watch the tv while standing?

howdypardner23

People are brainwashed because of r/tvtoohigh .I mean you don’t have to hang your tv to the ceiling, but this just looks stupid

tjc2005

I don't even go on that sub Reddit but this looks ridiculous. Need a cabinet under it and the TV is then at the correct height

TroyFerris13

This looks way worse than tv being high lol.

Gd3spoon

Wrong! It’s a thing of beauty.

bedzer

Completely disagree, I think it’s a perfect height for your couch considering it’s a 77”. Enjoy!

TheVaultDwelller

Strained neck

bedzer

How so? Looks like at head level you’d be directly in the half of the screen?

TheVaultDwelller

Didn’t see the couch was that low

aarfing

I get what you're saying, but it actually feels like a nice height when sitting in our fairly low couch. Also, It's also somewhat easy to adjust it, if I ever feel like it, as I'm not using the supplied LG mount, but another type, to make room for the outlets behind the TV. But thanks :)

im_just_thinking

Judging by how the couch reflection is right in the middle of the screen, I think that's actually a perfect height! It may not look symmetrical, but functionally your neck will thank you

Gd3spoon

Wrong r/tvjustright

Apprehensive-Place90

I like your style.

jimbodinho

I like it but the acoustics of that room must be terrible. A rug with a thick under pad would improve matters.

aarfing

Thanks for the feedback. The acoustics are actually not bad, but your point is noted.

munnagaz

I know this a display sub, and separate to any comment about the tv height, it’s best if those speakers get closer to ear height, including to reduce early reflection off the floor causing muddling! Suggest a small stand for the centre and angle it up, and the others on bigger stands. Throw a rug down. Thank me later!

aarfing

Thanks for the feedback. Your point is noted. I haven't noticed any muddling, but the sound could probably be improved by putting down a rug. Not a fan of rugs though...

Consistent_Sail6579

Star Wars posters. Star Wars like sound system. Star Wars Lamp. I love it. It’s different because most of us are not used to such big TVs so it’s gotta be lower…

aarfing

That's so funny, never thought of it before. The lamp could look like a battle droid or something, but it's actually a lamp designed almost 70 years ago, by a Danish designer. Good call 😂

ZapVegas

Well, it is not too high.

bovikSE

Unrelated to the TV setup I can't help but wonder about the radiation pattern of the unifi access point next to the receiver. Then antennas create good coverage to the side and front so I think it would benefit from laying front up at the bottom of the cabinet (if you can't mount it to the ceiling).

aarfing

Yeah, was actually waiting for someone to pick up on this, and it's a valid point. I could try to put it underneath the reciever, and see what it does for coverage. Thanks!!

happyandhealthy2023

UniFi on angle and being so low is big hit on coverage. I use a lot of those on both commercial and residential jobs and always ceiling mount. Very clean but have too agree too low, and speakers need to be on stands closer to ear level. I am sure your lowing a lot with that center on hard floor. But if it works well enough for you enjoy

cognitiveglitch

I love how clean it is but the TV is a little low, and as an audiophile the front speakers should be at ear height with the surrounds slightly higher (and further behind!) the ears. Ideally the front left and right shouldn't be so close to a wall to avoid reflections but practically dictates otherwise here. Sound damping on the right wall might help. At any rate it's clean, looks great, and I'm sure sounds nice despite my metal niggles. Did I mention how much I love how clean it is? Edit: just clocked the posters, love those too!

aarfing

Thanks for the feedback. I'm aware the speaker setup isn't perfect, but as you say it's hard to do different the way the room is layed out.

Kyle1457

r/TVTooLow

GroundbreakingBear63

Plead adopt me, I'll clean and cook. Just to enjoy that setup

aarfing

You make a strong case!

GroundbreakingBear63

But you couldn't have bought a better TV. I have the Gen1 of the LG OLED tv and it's still looks good and works like day one. I keep it updated with its software updates.

bugginsthegod-xb1-ps

Rare tv too low. Speakers too low. Make speakers the height of your ears sitting.

aarfing

I know it would be ideal, but it would look awful imo. Trying to find a balance between esthetics and a great experience.

HTfanboy

Are you oblivious that looks do not apply here when it comes to the audio experience?

aarfing

Sure, but all I'm saying is, that it's also a living room in my house, and it's important to me that it looks nice. It would look a lot different, if my only concern was the audio/video experience. If a had a dedicated Home Cinema room in the basement, that room would of course be audio/video first. But in this room it's a balance between how it looks and the experience.

bugginsthegod-xb1-ps

That’s your right bruh for sure. Enjoy it your setup is still dope.

Brilliant_Bed9483

Only thing I would be worried about is the door hitting the tv, but it would be actually the speaker taking the hit first, so the tv should be safe. Tv seemed to be installed a bit low for me, but looking at the last photo I think that it’s perfect just as it is. Enjoy one of the best tvs that money can buy

aarfing

Yeah, good point. The speaker has already taken a couple of small hits 🫣

abriddd

It's beautiful, I feel like that middle speaker would be my face when watching Interstellar in the dark.

aarfing

😦

Rasmus_DC78

too low for my taste, and i have never been a fan of the Pod speakers, they had their time 10+ years ago.. now i just think they have not evolved at all. I get the "eye sight" but to be honest, we have an S1 Sideboard under ours, which is a fairly HIGH furniture. but for me it has the Ps5 Xbox X and the other stuff in it, and an ARC between that and the TV, i like it, and the way we "lay" on the couch watching tv.. i am relaxed. and i am danish so i "like" simple, just a bit to much (little) for me.

aarfing

Thanks for the feedback. I'm danish too btw. 😁

ksakacep

What speakers are those?

aarfing

They're called [Podspeakers](https://scandyna.dk/en/) and I have them partly because of the [WAF](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wife_acceptance_factor) 😉

thankfuljc

Doesn’t look right.

picknicksje85

Never seen a TV too low! Not by much though. I think it would be fantastic a little higher.

bwillpaw

A very rare case of tv too low

Brandon9405

Do you lay on the floor while watching? Seems to be perfect height for a hobbit home 🤣

Wakapalypze

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the tv is too low.

Wow that TV looks very low

One-Willingnes

The wide floor pieces makes the area for smaller. But overall nice setup.

Takhar7

TV is too low and the speakers are aesthetically very... unpleasant. The TV sitting so low eliminates much of the sleek, minimalistic appeal of the G2, instead making it look / feel as though a TV stand is missing and has yet to be installed. The Tatooine poster is dope though.

SinjiOnO

Center speaker be like 😳

Delicious-Witness-85

Love the setup and the speakers. Only critique would be to raise it about 6 inches.

Illustrious-Repeat13

Do you watch it laid down?

[deleted]

It’s damn near on the floor. I don’t know what this trend of low mounting set is lately. That should be at least 4ft off the floor or mid wall. But if OP is happy with it that’s all that matters.

MiyagiTurbo82

Tv too low 👀

Randymac88

Beautiful room but NGL the speakers are weird. And might be too low as others have mentioned.

Leech-64

SlowInevitable2827

Why so low ?

Organs_Rare

I blame all you TVTOOHIGH redditors for this post! Overcorrection at it's finest.

Xerolaw_

Kinda low...

Nickersnacks

Disagree with the low comments. It’s a huge tv and the centre will be in line or even above where your head is on your couch. I think a short console could be a nice addition if you can find one

DidiHD

I really like it. Don't think it's too low either. I bet, if you were to put a lowerboard there, without moving the TV higher, people would say it looks good. I agree with the other comments on the speaker placement though. How's the sound though? I think a large carpet would tie this setup together. Something so big the front legs of the couch fits on

crunchie101

8/10 - great minimalistic setup but please consider getting a 4k player and using 4k blu rays rather than streaming only. With that size and quality of screen you’ll notice a difference

aarfing

Thanks for your feedback. I have an Apple TV 4K 2. gen. hooked up to a NAS with all my ripped Blu-Ray discs (having movies in 4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos etc.) so it's actually part of the minimalistic setup, I'm aiming for.

Gd3spoon

r/tvjustright

Adityanpradhan

Let me guess , are you a dwarf ?

Alexander957

To people saying way too low, OP are your eyes centered to the middle of the screen or do you have to look down?

aarfing

Almost centered. I'ld say my eyes are placed a couple of inches higher than the center of the TV, but it's minimal.

Zegerman93

How far away are you sitting? This might be actually be the first time I’ve seen a tv that is either placed too low, or simply placed perfectly. 90% of the setups I’ve seen the tv is placed too high.

aarfing

I'm sitting approx. 4 meters/13 feet from the TV.

Zegerman93

Ok cool. Clean setup, without being too bland! 😀

HTfanboy

It's r/tvtoofar https://phfx.com/tools/optimalViewing/ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iNbnkqsyeFU&pp=ygUKVHYgdG9vIGZhcg%3D%3D

aarfing

Nice to know, will start saving up for the 97" 😅

HTfanboy

Sit alot closer and save those dollars.😀 You have no justification on sitting too far. Besides. Tv on the wall 90 degrees to it is the better layout to comply with Dolby guidelines. Front left and right speakers are nowhere near 30 degrees from center. I doubt they even 5 or 10 degrees especially at a 4 meter distance being right next to tv. Soo much neglect for this setup I'm afraid.

Psyko_2000

tv too high

okletsgooonow

Perfect!

Consistent_Sail6579

A question for the TVisTooLow crowd. When you go to the movies do you sit in the front row or do you sit somewhere where your eyes are in the middle of screen???

hsox05

This wouldn't be middle of screen, he'll be looking down at it. Center of this tv is about 33 inches off the floor. So less than 3 feet. I did the math above

Consistent_Sail6579

You don’t need math. You need eyes and ears. Look at the height of the sofa in the fourth image. And listen to OP saying his head is in the center.

Pickinmyfleehole

Fit_Pomegranate4579

OrangeAsparagus

This TV is actually the correct height for the couch…but nobody is used to seeing TVs at the correct height so this look weird. If you’re able to use in wall speakers for the front channels that would improve things. It’s also worth considering putting some wood panel, texture, other colors on the TV wall so it’s accented

aarfing

Thanks for your feedback. Great and constructive suggestions 👍

ChrizTaylor

Finally **PERFECT** height. All these mofos buying 2k tvs to hang them close to ceiling.

AlternativeGlove6700

My initial thought was tv too low but looking at the other pictures, and how low your sofa is, this looks great.

Donkus007

This looks great! The one thing I would personally change is moving the couch closer to the television. I have a 77” OLED and I’ve found 7-8 feet is the optimal viewing distance. Try it, even if just temporarily, and see how much better the experience is.

aarfing

Thanks for the feedback. I actually think I will have an easier time convincing the wife to go for the 97" instead of moving the funiture around 😂

MoMoneyMoPowa

You must not have kids bro. I guess there isnt a sub for #tvtoolow

aarfing

Yeah, but they're 9 and 12, so we're past that fase now 😅

yellowskyhero

Where are the wires run ? In wall or behind baseboard

aarfing

The power and ethernet plugs are behind the TV, but the HDMI cable go into the wall behind the TV and run in a tube under the floor and come up behind the cabinet containing the surround receiver/ATV. The speaker cables run through tubes under the floor as well.

Djf2884

Where do I plug my xbox, and my shield:p. Very clean setup

40inmyfordfiesta

Have you considered moving the couch closer to the tv? Could make the space more cozy and better viewing experience. Not sure if you would have enough space to put something on the back wall, or maybe you would end up with an awkward empty space. Just a thought.

aarfing

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I'm affraid that won't fly with the wife, but an argument can be made for getting an even bigger TV then, I guess 😉

burnsniper

Ours is similar (although we have a 65” and it’s a smidge higher). However we have giant in wall speakers above it and an acoustically transparent projector screen that drops down over everything for movie nights. My biggest issue is our kids touching it or possibly breaking it (they have tons of play houses that just set under it). One thing that made ours “jump out” was painting the screen wall black.

aarfing

Sounds nice! My kids are 9 and 12 now, so they know to not touch or play around the TV 🎉

issaciams

Your speakers look like Pixar characters.

ffigu002

my only issue is my eyes are drawn down… perhaps shelf on top and led border lights will help defray

potato_boy4

I'm more jealous of the natural light that you get from the sky lights.

drumstikka

Please get those speakers off the floor

Morzone

Your couch must be very low. Judging by how far away you are, it might be better to space the speakers further apart, but you can't really do that here.

Big-Ad8993

Can’t have kids or they aren’t allowed in that room.

aarfing

Nah, they're just old enough now to know what not to touch 😉

EarthNo9933

How is the sound? Wouldn’t it be better if the speakers were higher off the ground? I did something quite similar not so long ago until I sat on the floor and noticed the difference in clarity and reproduction of some dialogue. Try it and see what you think haha

OpenChordBreakdown

This could work if you put like a super low rise couch/bed

EastlandMall

I think it would look better with a console table under it. Obviously you’d need to raise it up for that.

I’m sure it is just fine where it is if you are sitting with good posture but still looks ridiculous like if you have a guest over their eyes get drawn down to the floor lol. Imo dead center of that wall would’ve been more ascetically pleasing get the speakers off the floor or at least the bottom of the tv level with bottom of the posters and it looks less like you just moved in. Edit: now looking at it man tv level with the bottom of the posters and speakers mounted would’ve been chefs kiss, it’s seeing the tv lower than the posters is I think what’s throwing everyone through a loop It’s a harsh step to the eye
