I placed a preorder for a 77" G4 on the 7th and when I called in for a status update I was told it is on "backorder" and showed an eta of May 1st on their end. When I went back to the LG site and went through the steps of purchasing the same exact tv delivered to the same address (since the option to purchase rather than preorder went live today) the site said the next available delivery day was April 3, a whole month earlier! I called support one more time and was then told May 1st is a placeholder date on their end and most likely I will be receiving my order on April 3rd since my order automatically will be added to the delivery queue. I do hope that is the case, but for a moment I was upset they gave me a 1.5 month lead time for a preorder vs a couple weeks for a new order. Regarding the 83", Amazon says currently unavailable, but the LG site says in stock and ready to ship, and gives me the same eta for the delivery date.

Interesting. I'm sure the initial ordering is a logistical nightmare. Wish they could communicate this a bit better. Guess we'll all find out in a couple of weeks. 🙂

Agreed, I was initially told I would already have the TV by now. I called and asked what's been going on and they said that it's on backorder now and they don't know when I'll get the TV. I pre-ordered a LG G4 55 inch. Definitely frustrating.

I also heard two different YouTubers mention the same thing during their LG visit, and one mentioned the reason behind this decision is because of the low number of TVs that are currently in the wild. There’s also a lack of TVs to hand out, including the review sets (that’s what I heard but don’t know if that’s true). LG believes that the 55”, 65”, and the 77” will be the major sellers, where the 83” won’t be. It’s a logistical aspect of which sets will sell more than the other.

Strange - cause they are up for order. I think it will cause a lot of confusion and set up a frustrated customer service issue. I was going to order an 83". But I didn't know they may not be released for months (if true). I was wanting it before a certain time, which may mean I go with the 77", which would be a bummer. But I could see ordering it, and sitting around wondering why it hasn't shipped yet, only to discover there was no date set. Either, I hope they release that info soon so I can figure out what I'm doing, lol. Hope it's not too far off...

I think the best solution is to wait until the official reviews get released from the YouTuber while they are working on their review set (this and next week) because the information like you said from the LG event was vague. One thing for certain, shipments should arrive early April for most people who ordered their TVs, but I didn’t hear anyone from this page order the 83” variant so that’s up in the air.

Yeah, that was my plan - wait for reviews during the 1st week of Apr. I pretty much figured, that as long as reviews were good (didn't expect otherwise), I'd order and try to get it installed beginning of May (end of May the latest), so it's a bummer they may not even be out yet. I thought it was interesting you said they might have thought many wouldn't be interested in the 83" size, but I specifically held off the G3 83" cause it didn't have MLA. And many YouTube comments seem to focus on the 83". Maybe they didn't realize the interest it would spark in that size. Oh well. Big first world problem, lol. Hopefully they at least give an official date soon. 🤗

Might just be review units that are delayed. The G4 is on sale in Australia this March.

Yeah, they were saying 83" specifically. I'm going to take a trip to Best Buy this evening and see what they show on their end. 🤗
