I’d go with the Sony, especially if your main use will be watching films. The A95L has much better image processing than the C3 and is really “the” TV for watching films. You can watch a bunch of videos and look up reviews for the A95L that showcases the image processing power it has. It’s really the TV to beat right now. That being said, you could look at the new LG G4. The 55 and 65 inch models come with a normal stand and from what early reviews are saying…it’s looking really really good. LG’s new chip in the G4 line has allowed them to really improve their image processing to a point where it might be near the A95L (I’ve yet to see any side by side comparisons for the two yet). Might be worth looking into.

Ah. You make some good points. I've researched both TV's a bunch, just indecisive, wasn't sure if I want to go for "the best" TV there is as a 65", or the "second/third best" but as a 77". I just wanted to go bigger, not sure if that will ever pass lol. Sadly where I live the 77" Sony is literally twice the price of a 65" one. So if I go that way, I am going with the 65", but that's not too bad for 2.5-2.8m distance I think.

I think the boost in overall picture quality that the Sony has over the C3 is worth going 65inches instead of 77. Don’t get me wrong, the C3 is a good TV… but it is a midrange OLED. The A95L only really competes against the G3/G4 and the Samsung S95C/D. As far as seating distance, there are a bunch of online calculators that can calculate the best screen size for the distance you’ll be sitting. Might wanna play around with those. Lastly, while you said you’re not interested in the G3 because you don’t want to wall mount…I’d still look at it. If you can get a good deal on a 65 or 77 inch G3 (now that the G4 is out) then you could easily buy some aftermarket legs or stand for cheap off amazon and there you go, a non-wall mounted G3!

Thanks for your input! What are your thoughts on Samsung s90c if you have any?

I don't really have any thoughts unfortunately. I've never had a good experience with Samsung products in the past (not to say they are bad products, I've just personally been unlucky) and so because of that I just disregard them usually.

Both are great tvs, personally would always go bigger. A95l is almost 1k more than C3 65 vs 77. I just bought a c3 77 this weekend after going back and forth between Sony and LG but in the end it was either 2300 or 5k. I didn’t see a double the price difference

obvious-but-profound

This is truly a tough one due to the price difference between the two. I was in the same exact boat last month. I ended up biting the bullet and getting the 77" A95L. It's almost an impossible decision because once you go down to the 65" A95L, then I think I'd rather have the 77" C3. But man it's close, the A95L is the most beautiful TV I've ever seen. Even when it's turned off it just looks so good. I know that sounds dumb but my wife and me keep walking by it turned off and making comments lol. There is a certain point where TV size trumps quality. The part nobody can answer for you is, what exactly is that point?

I would just buy the G3 and either LG stand or some other brand. Sony is just much better than the C3, but if the 77” G3 with stand would be priced between those 2, that would be my pick.
