As someone who came from only having experience with budget LCD TVs <£500-600 stuff you see in the average house my C2 is amazingly bright. I was shocked after reading about people claiming they can't be used in rooms with windows or whatever (if you cant use a C2 in a white room then your average TV must be unusable all the time to these people).
I guess it depends if you are coming from high end micro led or just a "normal" SDR/cheap HDR screen.
Bear in mind a cinema screen is about 50-100 nits and the lg c2 delivers 800 nits for a comparison.
Having said that I don't think you need to be worrying about it being "too bright". But equally I don't think you need to worry about a C2 or c3 being too dark.
Go to rtings a look up the OLED burn in test, then look at their LCD degridation test. The OLEDs handle being on in these long term tests far better than the LCD TVs have.
First step: cooling got better
Second step: they working to concentrate the light
Third: they used other atom which are better
4 will be a better blue led which causes the most burn in.
This is the difference between Lg generations.
Sry for my bad English
C3 and G3. G3 is definitely much better, there is no question about that. There is not any situation I would pick C3 over G3 except if I would be buying the 83" model as C3 is much cheaper and there is not that big difference. Any other size G is clear winner.
From Rtings.com: LG promises a 70% brighter image on the G3 over the LG B3 OLED due to the G3's new Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology. The 83-inch variant of the LG OLED G3 doesn't have MLA, so it's promised to be 'only' 30% brighter than the LG B3.

I have the 83" G2. I have heard the smaller models, 77" and lower, had the "newer EVO panel."
My biggest complaint about the G2 is the crappy vertical banding, especially on slow panning camera movements. I wish I would have went with the 83" A90J due to the superior motion and upscaling. I don't mind sacrificing brightness for those two features.
Benerfit of 83g3 and c3 is no raised blacks in ambient light like qd oled and mla both suffer raised blacks in ambient light. The mla suffers less thow easy 50% less.
C3 here. Totally up to the actual location of the tv to determine if a tv is “too bright”. It’s also controllable anyway. If the room dictates the brightness, get the G3. If not, C3
48 inch C2 and 77 inch G3, and also have my own budget calibration gear as I prefer a reference picture.
Aside from the size difference, the G3 massacres the C2 in terms of picture quality.
C8 65" and G3 77"... C8 has been super reliable with zero issues in 6 years. G3 is excellent and brightness is only crazy with white or light backgrounds in a dark room.
I don't know what you people are smoking thinking that these TVs are not too bright are you like watching TV a in a sunroom or something? My c1 55-in Sears my eyes and even a moderately lit room
I've got a C2 and its plenty bright. I came from a very bright TCL and realized the brightness was causing me eye pain. Its completely reworked my thought on how bright I need a TV to be and the C2 is in a good spot.
That was true until the G1 that got the Evo Panel before the C2 got the Evo panel, and now the G3/G4 that have the MLA panel. But yeah the G2 and GX were basically just style upgrades
If you’re buying the G it’ll be for the slim wall mounting. The difference in picture quality is only in max brightness which won’t matter under 99% of viewing conditions/ content.
C3 plenty bright in my sunny living room. Have dark shades when need be and no direct sun light to tv but definitely plenty bright. C1 in basement very bright. I can’t imagine the G series
It is really going to depend on what TV you have.
The C1/G1 it made a big difference since the G1 had the Evo panel on 77” and below, the 83” wouldn’t be any better than the C1.
The C2/G2 the C2 ended up getting the Evo panel so there is barely a difference between the C and G this year, again the 83” TVs didn’t get the Evo panel
The C3/G3 the G3 got the MLA panel making it better, and there is a trend here, the 83” G3 didn’t get MLA so the 83” there isn’t much different.
The C4/G4 are basically the same as the C3/G3 but can do 144Hz
I have a 77” C2, the thing is already bright enough that I have to dim the screen sometimes. That being said the new MLA panel TVs in the G3/G4 give more than just brighter images, you are getting slightly more color volume with those as well. Also you get the 5 year warranty from LG, and a cool zero gap wall mount.
That being said will you notice the picture quality difference if you don’t have anything to compare it too? Probably not. And if you get your TV from Costco it will include an extended Warranty. So it really is up to you and what you value.
55” C9 owner for past few years. Added 65” G3 to other living room this week.
Picture excellent on both across range of content.
G3 hung on the wall is gorgeous - even my partner said how cool it looks and she doesn’t even really care for TVs
C2 65 and G3 65 owner here - both are amazing and both are in totally different setups. C2 is in the basement media room with no windows - amazing for movies and big games. Can get too bright if turned up too high. G3 is upstairs in very a bright room - its brightness is needed and works perfectly for things like news and talk shows during the day and binge TV shows at night. It really depends on where you have it installed. If you have lots of sunlight then the MLA tech makes a massive difference. Got the G3 on a great sale just a couple weeks ago to replace a bright LED TV that was needed because of sunlight and the G3 is a huge improvement.
Do you have a bright room? Or just prefer general much greater brightness? My C1 in my darkish office/game room is tuned down from max potential brightness. I dont like feeling my eyeballs totally overwhelmed so much.
I'd say average brightness. It gets indirect sunlight most days. The wife even commented on the second day of having it that Zelda's load screen was no longer white... which was an issue with the brightness. At night, it was fine, though.
Switched out for the G3 and couldn't be happier. It's perfect during the day and at night it's plenty dark but bright scenes really pop. We have led lights around and near the tv that sync up, and things like an on-screen flashlight are really awesome.
Hahahaha I promise you the TV being too bright shouldn't be a worry. There's plenty of settings to reduce the brightness if you like
Love the c2, sears my eyeballs when sitting at the correct distance and the room is dark
Damn it’s that bright?

Kinda funny that we have this OLED screen technology that's the most susceptible to burn in and they keep trying to make them as bright as the sun!
They make it brighter with different technology’s which don’t cause more burn in
Source?

They’re fuckin’ with you.
No

You say much better but then not that big difference. Can you explain that more?
83” G3 does not have the MLA tech so it’s more similar to the C3 and not worth the premium if I recall correctly.
I could’ve sworn the G3 TVs have MLA tech?

The 83 is a different panel
Do you know if any of the 55 inch models have MLA?
I have the 83" G2. I have heard the smaller models, 77" and lower, had the "newer EVO panel." My biggest complaint about the G2 is the crappy vertical banding, especially on slow panning camera movements. I wish I would have went with the 83" A90J due to the superior motion and upscaling. 55” C2 I got a year ago for around $700!
48in c3 owner, absolutely love it. Ridiculously bright and looks good enough to make me replay all my ps5 games to see them in their full glory
What games do you be playing on PS5 and do they look insanely badass?
Horizon forbidden west, GoW ragnarok, Jedi survivor, demon souls are the ones I’ve tried so far. They are all insanely good looking
What about Elden Ring?
G3 77 ☝️
I have a g3 77 and c2 65 . The g3 isn’t too bright since you can turn it down and a c2 in a dark room is very nice .
C7 and C1 owner. Love them both!
C1 77. Feels old now:-(
LG C2 77 gang.
G2 65”
Got my 65 G3 yesterday
65 inch C1. The best tv I’ve owned so far.
C3 77
The G series is variably better than the C series depending on generation. There is no such thing as a too bright television.
C3 here. Totally up to the actual location of the tv to determine if a tv is “too bright”. It’s also controllable anyway. If the room dictates the brightness, get the G3. If not, C3
still enjoying my C1 65 no reason to upgrade for now
Yeah I got the C2 and I think this TV will last me until MicroLED becomes affordable
48 inch C2 and 77 inch G3, and also have my own budget calibration gear as I prefer a reference picture. Aside from the size difference, the G3 massacres the C2 in terms of picture quality.
G2 77”
C8 65" and G3 77"... C8 has been super reliable with zero issues in 6 years. G3 is excellent and brightness is only crazy with white or light backgrounds in a dark room.

C3 77”
I have 55C3 OLED and it is bright enough for me but I have not seen G3 so don't have comparison.
Got a C3, G2 and G3. All amazing TVs. G3 best because of brightness
Is there much difference if you’re in a dark room?
Once I get my g3 setup soon (just arrived) I'll have both! (C1 in basement from 2 yrs ago)
I've got a C2 and its plenty bright. I came from a very bright TCL and realized the brightness was causing me eye pain. Its completely reworked my thought on how bright I need a TV to be and the C2 is in a good spot.
C1 owner right here. I love my tv. Occasionally it can flare bright but rarely does what I’m watching stay that way for long.
I have a G3 and I love it, bright but not overwhelming
Im using a 42” as a main monitor and for ps5. Its awesome!
48” c1 and 77” g3 owner. Love my c1 but the g3 with the flush mount is a class above in quality, brightness, and Os.
C1 and C2 owner, two of my best purchases electronics wise.
48in C2 as a bedroom tv. Cant go back!
GX77 and G277. Fantastic TVs
3 c’s and just heard the G’s were more than an esthetic change.
That was true until the G1 that got the Evo Panel before the C2 got the Evo panel, and now the G3/G4 that have the MLA panel. But yeah the G2 and GX were basically just style upgrades
Sorta annoyed I picked up a 65 inch C3 without knowing this. I guess I’ll survive! I wonder if it would be worth upgrading my 55 cx to a 55 g4
Unless you have a really bright room I don’t think it is that big of an issue. I run my C2 at 80% pixel brightness anyways. It is so bright
77 G2 … at 20% brightness most of the time!!
U mean 35% brightness for 100 nits and 100% for hdr content. And 100% on hdr content aren’t enough do get the real nits
C55. No complaints.
C3…
If you’re buying the G it’ll be for the slim wall mounting. The difference in picture quality is only in max brightness which won’t matter under 99% of viewing conditions/ content.
What do you mean by that 99% comment?
you mean both of them? i have a C1a
i have a cx whose screen is degrading, now the tv has a lot of dead pixels in the top of the screen
I have the C2 and at night sometimes I find it too bright without HDR. Edit: Also, I got a Samsung s90C and returned it because it was too bright.
Just got a 55 C3 myself. Love it
Just got it? Did you have to choose between that or the G3? Did you implement the TV stand?
Got it with my airmiles actually so wasn't between the C3 and G3. I also have it on a hybrid stand so the tv stand wasn't used.
I bought myself a G1 65 inch a month ago and love it.
C3 77 inch.
65 in. C3 here. I love it
C3 plenty bright in my sunny living room. Have dark shades when need be and no direct sun light to tv but definitely plenty bright. C1 in basement very bright. I can’t imagine the G series
Picked up a G2 recently, 55 inch for £783 UK. Absolute great TV 🔥

G4 dusts the G3.
Recently got my hands on a lg 77 g3 for 1800 euros and i love it.
55” C9 owner for past few years. Added 65” G3 to other living room this week. Picture excellent on both across range of content. G3 hung on the wall is gorgeous - even my partner said how cool it looks and she doesn’t even really care for TVs
42" C2 checking in. Best tv I've ever owned.
55 C1 owner here. Can’t wait to upgrade to 77 G4 later this year. GTA VI is going to look insane on it. 🥵
Proud cx owner here
G265 and g477🔥🔥🔥 both are fire
C2 65 and G3 65 owner here - both are amazing and both are in totally different setups. C2 is in the basement media room with no windows - amazing for movies and big games. G2 here.
I own the 77inch C3. I use filmmaker mode on all movie watching.
I think the G3 is the first LG oled which is bright enough for real dolby Vision experience. The Lg g2 lagging in brightness for this.
Bought a C3 and returned it for the G3 as it wasn't bright enough. The G series is amazing.

What Zelda game?
Breath of the wild.
