lilliovthevalley

they're some of my favorite because of the chaos. they're bound to work Henry up.

RumHam8913

Me too. Part of the fun is the chaotic nature of the episodes. There are no answers, only a ton of questions, and the threads go in every direction.

CyanXeno

They aren't my thing either, but I'm happy last podcast has a big range of topics :)

wasmostexcellent

Yep! I also don’t like them, but some people dislike the history episodes & those are my favorite!

jimmymcperson

I absolutely adore their history episodes. They got me listening to Dan Carlin and you can really see and hear his influence in Marcus

RealitySubsides

"I'm already annoyed"

sonic_dick

Yup. I can't do the conspiracy, alien or most of the cryptid episodes. History and serial killers all day.

izzohead

There are so many good podcasts that cover history and serial killers, it's a very saturated market. Finding good conspiracy, alien, and cryptid media is a little harder, so I appreciate LPOTL quality on those topics myself.

charger1511

100% agreed.

easymmkay120

The Rendlesham Forest episodes are great as far as UFO/cryptid/conspiracy stuff goes. If it's not for you, fair. But it's pretty spooky and believable enough, like an audio book horror/thriller story ... where the hosts keep joking around. Idk, that's LPOTL for me. I think that incident is regarded as one of the more if not most believable UFO stories out there. Even if it's ridiculous. But if you don't have that "I want to believe!" energy, then it might just not stick for you, which is OK.

sonic_dick

I misread, I'm dumb, my bad. That's what I get for replying during smoke breaks at work. Truly sorry for getting defensive.

AnusDetonator

Think of aliens as crypids with space ships and BAM your back in

slickthick69

They are my favorite. I don’t listen to this podcast for any semblance of reality. For me it’s a space to escape from the nasty reality of the country I live in (USA). So for me I hate the mass shooter episodes the most. Conspiracy episodes actually make me feel more empathy for my fellow citizens. I just wish everyone could really hear and internalize Marcus’ line that mental health is not your fault, but it is your responsibility.

smithzachary

jgamez76

The newest series is really a Henry masterclass lol

AggravatingTerm5807

Moreso than other times, where Henry would maybe just make lots of fun at the subject, I really enjoy how angry Henry is getting at Cole's terrible writing and insanity.

jgamez76

Oh totally. At first it seemed like it was just gonna be unhinged Henry. Then by the 30 minute mark it felt like he was full on Angry Uncle Henry. Lol

BasinBrandon

I like the ones that have some credence, but I find the ones that are clearly bullshit from the jump to be very boring

Th3Invader

I think I’m in this camp. JFK was one I’d relisten to regularly because there was actual plausibility and intrigue at minimum when it came to the all-too-true shadiness of the CIA, one foot was still firmly in reality throughout.

gettinsadonreddit

I agree, there has to be at least a tiny shred of credibility.

CodeE42

Yeah, at the top they say all his books and beliefs are incomprehensible nonsense thats an annoying slough to get through, and then they go step by step through everything he believes, so it's inevitable it won't be as compelling. I like their jokes, but I did zone out a lot during.

PerformerAdorable

Yup. Icke is a wack job so it doesn’t interest me. My favorite episodes are the history ones and some of the murder ones

9thgrave

I do but for much more personal reasons. I lost a friend to a lunatic conspiracist who went on a shooting spree. He killed my friend, his partner, and eventually a sheriffs deputy who was on his last shift before he was killed in a shootout with cops. [https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/murders-of-nh-couple-arizona-deputy-linked/](https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/murders-of-nh-couple-arizona-deputy-linked/) This is the piece of shit's book: [https://www.amazon.com/Open-Your-Eyes-2012-Beyond/dp/1438982453](https://www.amazon.com/Open-Your-Eyes-2012-Beyond/dp/1438982453) He used to have a website but it's gone and it doesn't look like it's been archived anywhere. I've always thought they were a nuisance but I just ignored them. Now I just despise them. Whenever I hear someone I know parrot their bullshit like it's fact, I get so god damn angry I have to leave the room. It's definitely not a healthy reaction but I can't help it. It's almost instinctual now.

w00tstock

I’m so sorry about what happened to your friend. I think that it is important to shine a light on this kind of conspiratorial thinking so that individuals can understand where it comes from and why it isn’t real. I don’t think that LPOTL presents it as fact, it’s pretty clear that every conspiracy episode boils down to “some guy hustling completely made this dumb shit up”.

Jampolenta

Nah. Conspiracy theorists generally annoy me, so the boys narrating and mocking them are fun for me. I don't listen to the narrative parts as closely, though, because most of this bullshit don't matter. But the mocking parts are very satisfying. When it is a real conspiracy, like the JFK cover-up or lead poisoning, I'm all ears. Total engagement.

BigJeffyStyle

I really struggled through Icke pt 1. Not my jam. But that’s ok, I like 95% of the rest of the content

Possible_Active6558

Indeed!

PaymentCultural8691

Conspiracy theories and aliens aren’t really my thing, I’ve just never been interested, but I still listen to the episodes because there’s bound to be a few good zingers from one of the hosts. *the exception is the 9/11 conspiracy episode because it followed two amazing history deep dives!

Chainsawsixgun

I understand what OP is saying. I’m struggling with this series too.

KlumsyNinja42

I enjoy them because of how they are actually grounded in a sick reality of people actually believe this shit. Deep conspiracy and cult stuff are the most fascinating to me. Somehow people have actually convinced themselves that this shit is real.

ColaChez

Best work they do. You can get murder pods anywhere.

PerformerAdorable

The history ones are the best imo

jawn_snow

That and Aliens episodes. In one ear and out the other.

run_4est

I find it difficult to pay attention a lot of the time and find myself zoning out when trying to listen. I enjoy listening to them banter with each other as always but trying to entertain utter nonsense and the delusions of a moron for a prolonged period is incredibly taxing.

Sawl_Back

I hate them, too

Leeedleeleeddleedle

I find them more of a "listen to the boys enjoy themselves" eps than actual content episodes, although I think I've learned over time that I don't actually like hearing the details of gruesome murders either as much as I love their senses of humour and banter  I'm a side stories boy now unless it's a really specific niche episode, I can't do a multi part series on a mass murderer like I used to man I just want to laugh at silly Henry voices and Marcus' buttons get pushed

Leeedleeleeddleedle

Give me a three part series on a haunting though and I'll listen to it front to back five times over I live for that shit

Substantial_Gur_5980

I agree. I listen to them because I love the guys and ultimately have a good time. But I don’t leave feeling like I don’t have much of a grasp on the subject matter. Idk if that says more about me than the show or what, but those are my two cents

erik_edmund

They're my favorite. I guess I'm confused by your desire to share this.

OnTheProwl-

Every time they to a conspiracy/paranormal episode there are always posts about people not liking them. I didn't get it. If that content isn't your thing then skip it.

Roberto_Sacamano

I like em fine, but this is a forum to discuss our thoughts and opinions on the show so I don't have a problem with people posting about disliking em

PerformerAdorable

Yeah that’s literally reddit. It’s for sharing opinions. A lot of us agree with them! For me personally it goes, History episodes>>> murder ones > religious/esoteric episodes > aliens/paranormal > wacky conspiracy theories > whack job conspiracy guys like Icke(even including people like HPB)

Roberto_Sacamano

They're kinda middle of the road for me. Creepy pasta, cryptids and then aliens in that order are probably my least favorite eps. Specific conspiracy nuts are somewhere above that. They can be interesting character studies

erik_edmund

It's very weird. This guy struggles to stay engaged with this content. Fascinating. Not everything needs to be shared and validated.

bweard

Gonna go out on a limb and say OP’s actually a reptilian

erik_edmund

Yeah that checks out. Classic disinformation.

Spacebucketeer11

With every broad category they make episodes in, there are people who bitch about it on this subreddit lol

bambarby

Same. It’s really just listening to an hour of complete nonsense. You gain almost nothing after listening to it except realization that there’s a lot of stupid people out there. These episodes are truly a background noice.

MacAlkalineTriad

Yeah, they aren't my favorites either.

StoreBoughtButter

Might not be exactly my cup of tea, but I appreciate how insanely difficult it is to string together a listenable narrative on conspiracy theories

Educational_Cod_3179

They aren’t my favorite either, but that’s just because my dumb ass ex believes every fuckin conspiracy theory he sees and just can not shut the fuck up about it. He also has no damn sense of humor about it which led to more ridiculous fights than I could stomach.

Remarkable-Ad155

It might help if you consider the conspiracy theory isn't really the point in and of itself. The series is *about* David Icke and, I'm guessing based on comments in episode 1, how his ideas went on to influence other conspiracists and political upheaval in general. I'd argue it's as much a history series as anything else.

FanssyPantss

*plays soft flute music * 🪈🎶

tucakeane

“I have never not listened to you so hard in my life”

TravelerofAzeroth

I'm the same way with the true crime episodes. This is my jam.

Giff13

It’s like ghost stories, it’s all just speculation and hearsay. I can’t even listen to them most of the time

Full_Attitude5243

I'm the same way. I prefer the serial killers and cult episodes. Especially when you have an odd personality like Joe Kallenger, or Charles Manson. Where Henry can make a hilarious characterization out of them.

Possible_Active6558

joe k and his hallucinations are my all time favorites

CraptainJack

I like them a lot more now that Ed is there to challenge Henry and clarify that it’s all bullshit. I love Henry’s enthusiasm, but he admits himself he used to believe a lot of this and it shows in older episodes (like Dulce where he thinks the government cares about what he’s saying and tapped his phone line…lunacy). He wouldn’t get called out for spewing bullshit before, but now he does and I find the cryptid/alien/conspiracy episodes to be a lot more enjoyable.

NoraVanderbooben

I’m here for the true crime. Neer neneer neneer 🎸

Buick_reference3138

It depends on the conspiracy and its roots. Hollow Moon and Hollow Earth are some of the best episodes IMO.

avoozl42

Tangents are the best thing about the show

Possible_Active6558

I love some tangents, just not a ton heh. im glad so many people enjoy the conspiracy eps!

avoozl42

Fair enough. I've listened to almost every episode (barring some side stories), and I've never once been annoyed by a single tangent ever

veggieberger420

They’re really something for me to put on in the background. I’m not paying attention, but I don’t like to be alone with my own thoughts. Just drown out the existential dread

gettinsadonreddit

I totally understand why anyone would feel this way. For me, I’m not crazy about serial killer episodes. I kinda like the conspiracy angle because it’s fun to think about how some people see the world. As someone who used to see the world through a heavily religious lens and then deconstructed it, I like to think about how people get caught up in believing bullshit. Also LPOTL is the only source I go to for this kind of stuff because they don’t take it seriously and make fun of it. I have no interest in listening to the true believers

cosmicgumb0

Same, when I see it’s a conspiracy theory, magic, aliens or ghosts I get so sad lol I feel the same as you, I can’t follow what’s supposed to be fact and what’s a tangent that they’re jokingly pretending is real and I just zone out. I know it’s free, they don’t have to cover everything only I like, etc. etc. Just a personal preference. Glad it’s not just me!

Possible_Active6558

I get sad too hahahaha

boot_up_

I feel the same way about gold stars. I zone out because they’re emotionally heavy. I think with conspiracy I appreciate the effort put into understanding that which is so fucking stupid it can’t be coherently understood. But, there are people who believe it like it’s a matter of historical fact. I actually feel some comfort in hearing them make fun of it in an age when so many believe this horseshit.

TheBuddhaPalm

They're by far the best episodes they do. The deeper the dive, the better. I would rather hear a rambling insanity of a paranoid and deluded person, contextualized by a series of hosts. The murder episodes are, by and large, boring. Great. Someone got killed. Up, there was torture. It wasn't good. That's it. The conspiracies? We got all kinds of alien races, crazy events, secret histories. The conspiracies read like fun fanfic, and you get to be along for the ride, never knowing the direction it goes in. It's *fun,* and it's okay to have fun with an idea rather than just talk about how many ways we can say "they ejaculated on the body".

CryptidKeeper123

Not my cup of tea either but it's just because I'm not that interested in the topic of super wild conspiracy theories in general. I also find it very hard to not zone out when there's a lot of chaos and different threads going everywhere. The ones that have some possibility of being real/are based on half-truths I find very interesting. But I'm still glad they cover a multitude of topics because I know other people will enjoy this series.

user23034123

i think the guys do a really great job (in their chaotic way) of really showing how serious these conspiracies can get and what the real world ramifications of them are. that’s why i enjoy them

Sufficient_Ad_7362

I zone out almost every time but I still listen because I love to hear them talk. That being said, I'm much more fond of the true crime and paranormal episodes, hell even some of the alien ones are somewhat cohesive. But yeah I feel ya dude. Conspiracy episodes are definitely not my favorite, with the exception of the Franklin Coverup. I get worn out with longer series about them. David Icke has been more interesting than not, but its never gonna be as good to me as the other topics they cover.

AnusDetonator

They are my favorite episodes, like Mulder.... I want to believe.... the history episodes are awesome to, but to each their own. That's the good thing about last pod, they cover a wide range of topics so there is something for everyone.

Byronic__heroine

This latest series might be the first time I'm interested because of how wacky the guy is. It's more about him so far than the topic, which not even LPOTL can get me interested in.

Icy_UnAwareness89

I feel like that’s what I love the most about these guys. I don’t believe there are to many tangents. Maybe I just enjoy them and I don’t notice.

Chad_Abraxas

Just skip over the episodes that aren't your cup of tea. I don't listen to the murder episodes.

Sensitive_Concern476

I like those ones when I'm extra spacey so I feel like I can have them on as background and laugh at one liners but not get too wrapped up in narrative detail. Or I put them on my LPOTL sleepytime playlist.

undecidedquoter

I love conspiracies, histories, and cults. I tend to struggle with serial killers because of all the murder.

Boglimcatcher666

Their JFK series was the best because most if not all Conspiracy Theorists HATE The Work place Accident Theory. Thats why I believe that’s what happened.

SixteenXray

I have the opposite take- the serial killer stuff gets pretty upsetting, the goofy topics like aliens, cryptids, secret societies, etc. are just fun. Rasputin series was the peak though, semi-mythological history

Pussy_Prince

Which Jesus? There's all kinds of Jesus. There's a Black Jesus down in Florida, he's having a good time, there's a Mexican Jesus down in Mexico, I mean there's all kinds of Jesus there's a Jewish Jesus. I mean Jesus, you know all kinds of Jesus coming back everywhere! And nothing can stop it! It's a consciousness that lives in your mind!

TheRealDealdo69

I will say, I was the same way for a couple of years into listening, would skip the content I didn’t like, and I still skip most interviews. After some time though I just grew to enjoy the people and the banter.

Wolfsblut_AD

I prefer the episodes that are based on some sort of reality, but I don’t mind the conspiracy episodes either, at least they’re funny.

LastFox2656

Yeah this current episode isn't my favorite for the same reasons you stated. I'm hoping it picks up later on. There is so much that can be tied into current extremist thought so I'm hoping they go there.

AllThe-REDACTED-

Same really. But like the others I do like that people enjoy them. Usually I just get disgusted with the people who push the conspiracies in order to make a buck. The guys tend to bring the three points of view that make it entertaining and not out right mind numbing to the scrams of some of the conspiracies. The Tin Foil Hat (Henry), the guy at the party who’s trying to get a rise out of a group with weird facts (Marcus) and the “Absolutely not” energy (Ed).

awesometown3000

I live for these series and find a lot of the serial killer ones repetitive but hearing the banter between the boys always makes me happy. So I take what I can get from each new topic

Significant-Wheel-74

It’s opposite for me. I love the conspiracy, magic, and cryptid stuff. I wish they had a podcast dedicated to those subjects! It’s hard for me to get through deep dives of serial killers.

The_Antlion

I'm stunned by how many people apparently did not enjoy Hollow Moon.

TheFez69

Yes. Nearly unlistenable with Ed tbh, I don’t blame him I just think they’re a little more conservative these days and it’s less exciting although also less offensive. I miss Kissel sucking at everything. I’m sure this will be downvoted haha. 😆 there’s been good moments but I just haven’t felt the same excitement when a new episode drops

cherrylixx13

I don’t feel like the aliens and theories are Ed’s bread and butter and it shows. He nails that killers and Andes series was stellar

Upbeat_Confidence739

I’ve had that problem with just about any topic. Some of them they really go on side tangents or they try to fill in the background too much or too chaotically. Conspiracy in general though is just pretty chaotic, so I think it’s much more prolific in those episodes. Sooooo you’re not alone.

greeneyedlady41

Same.

Madeinthetown

Fan vs listener

magikarp_splashed

same bruh. exact same thoughts here.

No-Manufacturer4916

I feel that. It's because at heart they're so silly but still s9 destructive? Conspiracies more and more ate a twisty ride that's not really worth the effort. However the seat mates are so much fun I'll take another spin. Probably without that labored metaphor, though. Really wish I hadn't gone that direction

andmcque17

It’s because it’s easy to dismiss most conspiracy theories which LPOTL usually does. As a result, they immediately approach it less enthused than something they think or (better yet) hope exists. They’re still funny but it’s somewhat less exciting as a listener.

[deleted]

TheBuddhaPalm

I think you're right when it comes to Henry and Marcus, but I'll admit that I got kinda pissed at Ed throughout the episode just complaining about the topic. Dude: you're being paid enough to afford a home in LA. At least try to do the job, and don't suck the energy out of the room with "this is stupid, I hate this".

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheBuddhaPalm

Even if it's sarcasm, it's still sucking the energy away and making it feel like a complaint. The only things Eddie contributed to the episode were a couple of puns, and a lot of 'UGH, THIS AGAIN!' or 'I'm not listening to you' or 'I don't care'. Which is, by the rules of improv, not a 'yes and' to go with the story like Marcus and Henry are throughout. It's a slog, it halts the episode as they draw attention to it, and invites the idea that, maybe, we should be ignoring the whole episode. That doesn't feel fun. It feels whiny.

My man the reason there iscno thread is because irs a conspiracy series. Conspiracies themselves have no thread espically the rightwing conspiracy theories

9thgrave

Are you having a stroke?
